I think 80% of my office likes this place and the other 20% is indifferent. The food is fine. They have decent sized portions and offer sandwiches, wraps, Mediterranean food and salads. Their salads are good and there are a number of nice selections from the basic Caesar to the Chinese Chicken Salad and Greek Salad. They have both hot and cold deli, specialty and grilled sandwiches where you choose your own type of cheese and toppings. I recently decided to try the Mediterranean Plate Salad with tabboleh(made with quinoa), hummus, falafel, dulmas with pita and it was great. I usually get a salad here but wanted to try something new and I was pleased. Everyone else orders a sandwich and there are no complaints.

Walked down the alley from my work to try this place while I had limited time and the wait for my order wasn’t very long but I’d have to say it was only OK in taste. I ordered chicken soup with a grilled cheese and I felt both were lacking and kind of bland. The sandwich didn’t hold up its figure too long from my 1 ½ block walk back to my office, it was flat by the time I got there, maybe it sweated too long in the box, I don’t know. For the price and wait, I guess I would say it was OK.

Unbelievable. A simple grilled cheese went from 3.99(reasonable) to 7.50. And fries that aren’t that great are 5.50…OMG! No thank you. Not again For some reason this is showing under Manhattan Hub… this is not correct it should be Bistro Burger!

I’ve stopped in a few times since my last commentary. On a whim I tried the fish and chips, knowing that the fish is frozen(and a brand, Trident, one can get at Costco), but it was pretty darn good — came out hot and crispy and the fries were right too. I was quite pleased. More recently had the Mediterranean Plate(salad) — it was very good, and as I remember it from years ago. Best yet — the falafels came out fresh from the fryer — and it makes a world of difference. When they are made and then refrigerated(other places) they are ok, but sort of chewy and stale.

Got a falafel wrap here. The falafel is cold. The outside is oily and the inside is dry and crumbly. I guess they make them and let them sit for hours before using them. Overall, just very mediocre. I watched them make sandwiches for others as I waited for my wrap. It looked a lot like what you’d get at Lee’s Deli.(Not a plug for Lee’s…just an indicator of the quality you’re getting.) I won’t come back. The rating for this place seems inappropriately high given how empty it was, and how mediocre the food was. This hasn’t led me to down-grade my own rating… it just seems suspicious.

I had a craving to eat something bad so I ordered the fish and chips here. The portion was huge with four big pieces of fried fish and alot of fries. I could only eat ½ of my lunch but it was sure delicious. I got there early to avoid the lunch crowd. I’m SO glad I did this.

I know it’s San Francisco and cheap lunch isn’t easy to come by, but $ 8 for a nicely sized gyro wrap is pretty hard to beat. That is, until I realized that this is a bare-minimum kind of wrap. Not bad, but not repeat customer worthy either. My customer service experience was just fine but after reading other reviews, I assume it is rather hit and miss. Manhattan Hub is a decent restaurant, but I’ll likely pass in the future.

Great wraps and salads! One of the more reasonably priced restaurants for lunch in the Fidi. Plus the staff is super nice!

For some subsconscious reason, I was excited by the name of this place. Manhattan sounded so cosmopolitan and uptown, but it turned out to be more Hoboken than Manhattan and more spoke than hub. Like the kind that broke off your banana-seat Stingray when you taped baseball cards to them to make your bike make that flatulence noise. But then the name Hoboken Spoke would sound like a school that gives elocution lessons rather than a deli which it’s trying to be. And speaking of flatulence, I was not a fan of this place. It’s in a choice spot in that alley off Sacramento across from Wayfare Tavern attracts a lot of FiDi regulars during the busy lunch hour. It was also hot the day I went with the sun blinding me since I forgot my sunglasses. That also contributed to my dissatisfaction, I suppose. There was quite a queue waiting to order, and believe me, someone didn’t take a shower. And it wasn’t me. Some of these tech guys need to live with girls who could tell them they smell bad before they leave the house into a world of innocent noses. Anyway, I was in the mood for a veggie sandwich, so I ordered the $ 7 Garden Hub, which sounded pretty good with avocado, greens, provolone, tomato, sprouts, cucumber and a sun-dried tomato spread on foccacia(photo: ). That sandwich refused to come together for me. There was a cakiness to the spread that I found unappetizing that I threw it in the trash after three bites. It was redeemed by the $ 3 Couscous Salad which I liked even though it tasted like it was in the refrigerated section all morning. There’s outdoor seating which I suppose could have been nice if I brought my sunglasses. Manhattan Hub? No. Hoboken Spoke. Yes it did. FOOD — 2 stars… mediocre veggie sammies… an those ain’t hard to put together AMBIANCE — 2.5 stars… not quite Manhattan… and there is the smelly tech guy, too SERVICE — 2 stars… felt like cattle TOTAL — 2 stars… this ain’t no deli for my belly, fo’shizzle

I experienced the worst service at the Manhattan Pub today and my company will not be going back there ever! I ordered a Cobb & Avocado Salad and Mushroom Cheese Steak & Fries. When my assistant went to pick it up the blue cheese salad dressing was missing. So I went back to get it and I was told it was in the bag, then I was told it was in the salad. I stated no it wasn’t if it had been I wouldn’t be back.(argumentative couldn’t get there story straight) I then asked if they could add a cup of soup to my order which would be $ 2.50 and the answer was no because my salad was already purchased and I would have to pay the $ 4.50 for a side cup of soup without an order. I stated the only reason I came back was because of their negligence. Still argumentative While I was waiting for them to put their HORRIBLE sweet blue cheese salad dressing in a container, the customer behind me, had requested his salad for here and they gave him a to go container. When he asked for a plate, he received an argument as well as the cashier stated he requested to go. One of the worst things a business can do is be rude to a customer/business especially with all of the other restuarants, eaters, deli’s and such in the FIDI to go to.

This used to be one of my favorite lunch places, but after what seemed like a big jump in prices, I can’t justify going here very often anymore. I’ll get the 3 salad lunch because it’s fast, but that’s it.

Convenient place for a good cheesesteak at a normal price. It was fairly busy but not too busy here, which is nice balance if you need a quick place to stop for lunch and aren’t expecting anything gourmet. French fries were average.

My co worker introduced this place to me first by bringing me a delicious Philly cheese steak with bacon and avocado. A week later I had to come myself to check out the menu and the restaurant. They have many options but of course I had to get the avocado and bacon again. I was a little disappointed because my fries were cold and a little under cooked. My sandwich was good though and I requested ranch dressing which made it even more delicious. I would definitely come back and try something different here. The line tends to get long during lunch but it moves pretty fast.

Downtown is full of sandwich joints the way New York is filled with blue and white memorabilia. Here they have ho-hum chili and a ho-hum sandwich. Give me a real New York sandwich over this joint any day. Fast service though. But with all the competition I won’t be coming back.

Like many delis, Manhattan Hub gives out punch-cards to frequent customers: if you buy 10 sandwiches, your 11th is free. So I have been dutifully going to MH once a week for many months to collect my punches. Sure, they are insufferably crowded at lunchtime, but it’s never been longer than a 10-minute wait, and the variety of their fabulous menu is worth it and their sandwiches are delicious. On Tuesday, August 19, I went in for my 8th card punch. I ordered a tuna melt to go, paid for it, and was handed a to-go placard with #24. I stood directly next to the cash register and waited, and waited, and waited. My wait seemed unusually long. Nearly 20 minutes passed. At NO time did anyone working there seem fazed by how long I was standing there or bother to check on my order. Finally, after realizing that food orders were being handed to customers who had arrived long after me, and seeing that there were NO tuna melts being prepared on the grill, I asked where my sandwich was. The manager lethargically picked up a soggy, abandoned box of food with #23 written on it, that had been sitting on the counter DIRECTLYINFRONTOFMEFOR20MINUTES and said, «It’s right here. The girl wrote the wrong number on it» and then he WALKEDAWAY. NO apology. NO offer to re-heat my sandwich and fries, which were limp and cold. NO offer to make the mistake right — no voucher for a new sandwich, not even an extra punch on my card or any other compensation for my inconvenience. Absolutely nothing. The jerk just handed me an old sandwich that was as stone-cold as his rudeness, and walked away. It was bad enough that the counter girl got my order number wrong, and the equally incompetent staff couldn’t figure out that the unclaimed sandwich belonged to the customer standing next to the counter for 20MINUTES. But the manager’s rudeness sealed the experience: I paid $ 10 and 20 lunchtime minutes for a nasty, greasy, COLD tuna melt and fries, with an extra side of bad attitude. I understand that no one is perfect and that mistakes happen. It is how businesses HANDLE their screw-ups that make all the difference. In this case, that difference means you’ve now lost a long-time customer who has worked around the corner for years. Good-bye. Unfortunately, now I have a worthless«frequent customer» card with 8 punches on it. Anyone want it?

Online ordering definitely helps. This place often has a lot of people. I don’t like long waits so thank goodness. By the time I walked there, my food was ready :) Staff were nice and helpful. Food looked and smelled delicious. I had the Philly Tender Steak and Cheese and FRINGS, total $ 11.69! Frings were nicely fried. Philly was pretty good too. Not the best IMO because it doesn’t make me want to die for more. Only thing I disliked about the whole order was how oily everything was! I know I know… it’s suppose to be but it was dripping out of the box!

Came here for a quick lunch fix. Ordered a half soup and half salad for $ 8+ which is pretty decent for lunch in the Financial district. I ordered the chicken noodle soup and the prosciutto pasta salad. Both were delicious although portions were a little small. They have great outdoor sitting so if you’re here with a large party, this could be a good place to chill outside on a day with great weather. Service is fast and they are well prepped to deal with lunch hour crowd, although it didnt seem to be very crowded when we went…

Ok let me just make this clear to avoid this place and their dumbass workers. Came here to redeem a go dish offer and I didn’t know how the process was but I figured the dumbass women workers would have a clue but they didn’t. Paid for my order but it was funny that I didn’t get a number with my order which is what I saw was the norm here. Waited for 15 minutes before I asked someone that worked here where’s my order. Got word that even though I paid for my order that since I didn’t place the order that my food wasn’t made or in the processed of being made. It shows the ineptness of this staff of all women that I was waiting for 15 minutes and no one asked me anything. Customer service here is poor at best and this is what happens when you hire people who can barely speak and/or understand English. I guess this is what happens when you deal with minimum wage workers… You get minimum wage service.

So I found a Go Dish deal here for the bacon avocado Philly cheese steak. The restaurant is in an alley way and when you walk in; it felt like I was in the deli department in a grocery store. So the deal was 40% on a sandwich and fries combo. The fries were really good and the sandwich was the perfect amount for a lunch. It doesn’t include a drink, however, there’s always water. Plenty of seats if you come after 1:15pm. I will be coming back here to try another sandwich. However, I felt a bit thirsty after eating my sandwich.

Coworker: «What do you want for lunch today?» Me: «I want to stress eat something. Preferably something greasy and fattening with french fries.» And that’s how we found Manhattan Hub. There wasn’t much of a line to order, but the food did take quite a while to come out. They do have a deli case of ready-to-go stuff so if you don’t want to wait that might be a better option. My fish and chips came with vinegar and tartar sauce and was a large portion. So I didn’t feel like I was being ripped off for the price, because it was a little expensive. But it was good and more importantly, filled my need for fried and unhealthy food. They have a big menu so I will likely go back to try something else. Maybe something less fattening next time.
