Marwan Tennis

After a couple of years of not playing tennis, I was recommended by a friend to Marwan. I highly recommend him to anybody who is looking to improve their tennis skills. He’s very patient and a great teacher. After each lesson I could see how well I had improved on the previous lesson. He’s also very friendly and flexible with his schedule. Marwan’s rates are also very reason all if you are on a budget. If you’re in the market for a tennis instructor, look no further.

I have been taking tennis lessons from Marwan for the last month or so. I started pretty much as a total beginner and teaching a 30+ year old requires patience, encouragement, and a sense of humor. Marwan possesses all 3 in abundance.
He makes the lessons fun and an hour flies by fast. After 5 lessons or so I feel like I have improved to where I can practice with others. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to learn or improve in tennis.

I’m not a tennis player. I don’t know much about technique and strategy. But I do know that Marwan has been an excellent tennis instructor for both of my kids 10 And 12 for the past year.
My kids can’t wait till it’s Sunday morning so that they can have their hour with Marwan. The reason is simple. He makes tennis fun. His sense of humor doesn’t hurt either.
I would recommend Marwan to anyone without any hesitation.

I’ve tried out several instructors in SF, and can honestly and confidently say that there isn’t a better tennis instructor in SF than Marwan. Trust me, I’m someone who does a ton of research and I’ve played with a lot of instructors.
Whether you are a total beginner, an intermediate player just looking for a workout, or an advanced player trying to fine tune your game to the next level, you need an instructor that’s going to give you a combination of technical instruction and repetition/​practice. Too many other instructors in SF are LAZY and focus exclusively on technical drills and use them to hide the fact that they’re lazy and don’t want to tire their bodies by constantly hitting balls. While technical instruction is necessary, it’s obvious that having a coach throw you slow balls for one hour of drills just is no replacement for actually playing at game speed. Don’t be fooled by these charlatans… technical drills will do you no good unless you actually have a stable of hitting partners to play with (preferably right after your drills are done). Let’s face it, unless you’re a member at a really expensive tennis club then you don’t have this situation and these instructors are just wasting your money under the guise of «technical instruction». Marwan loves tennis and loves what he does, and that shows in the effort he puts into his craft. He doesn’t hide behind «technical drills» to be lazy… he’ll feed you excellent balls that are fine tuned to the pace and style that you need to get that repetition you need to steadily improve your game in an efficient manner. He’s like a ball machine that’s constantly adjusting to your needs/​skill, offers technical instruction, and makes hilarious jokes /​is fun to talk to as well. It doesn’t get better than Marwan… trust me.

Marwan was recommended to me by a friend from work. At that time, I was trying to get into a sport to get fit, I was inspired by the Nadal-​Federer final in Wimblendon I saw a while back, so I chose tennis and Marwan to start me off on it. I am so glad I started lessons with him. He taught the basics of tennis really well and then developed my physicality, game and stamina. He is very responsible in regards with scheduling and he always gives his best on every lesson. Very good for beginners and also for more advanced students that want to improve or change some of their bad habits.

Marwan is absolutely awesome to play tennis with — my best friend and I started weekly lessons with him on Saturday. We both played recreational tennis together but felt like lessons would help us go from hitting around to actually playing tennis. Marwan has helped both of us improve dramatically! He’s good at feeding different types of shots, coaching us on we’re doing wrong, and doing different drills. Plus, it’s be ridiculously fun. He goes out of his way to help us by doing things like giving us a box of balls to practice with, re-​gripping our tennis rackets for us, and being extremely flexible when we can’t make our regular time on Saturday mornings. Highly recommend him!

A friend and I were searching for a tennis coach for our boys (age 9 & 10), so I turned to Unilocal and found Marwan. After 3 months of lessons, I am VERY pleased to report that he fully deserves his 5-​star rating! My son has taken lessons through several other venues in the past, and he has by far made the most progress with Marwan. Compared to his last coach, my son’s skills are probably progressing at twice the rate. Best of all, my son LOVES his lessons. Marwan is great with kids… patient and encouraging, and an all-​around great teacher & coach. We couldn’t be more pleased!

5 stars for communication, friendliness, and top notch service. He picked up my tennis racket on a Monday and dropped it off re-​strung and re-​gripped on a Tuesday. The grip is phenomenal. I can’t wait to try my fresh racket strings. His selection of strings is extensive, and did I mention he picked it up and dropped it off? I wasn’t even home I just left it on my porch.

Marwan is a great tennis coach. I’ve had a few lessons with him and my tennis is already improving. In a one-​hour session, he can take you through volleys, baseline hitting, returning serves, and more. I’m learning a lot, it’s fun, and it’s a great work out too! Marwan is friendly, responsive, and knows the game. Highly recommend!

Fantastic first lesson with Marwan; I was a competitive player decades ago now attempting to regain my form. Marwan was patient and attentive while I slowly stopped scattering every shot and began to find the other side of the court. He re-​gripped my racket (for free) and gave me a discount on re-​stringing. Highly recommend.

Two things represents a good tennis coach:
1. Good knowledge of the sport, techniques, and game play.
2. A good teacher — patient, communicates well, challenges students to perform, and feeds good balls ;)
Marwan is both.

For my birthday I was gifted 2 private lessons with Marwan — my first tennis lesson of any kind. I was a bit nervous going to my first lesson, but everything went very smoothly. He was encouraging, gave helpful feedback and knew exactly when to try something more or different. Though I’ve only had 2 lessons with him, I already feel much more confident in my game and know where I can put in more work.
He was very observant and noticed whenever I changed my grip during a stroke and helped point out incorrect form. During the lesson he noticed the grip on my racquet was a bit too small and applied an over-​grip for free. When my strings were ready to break, re-​strung the racquet in time for our next lesson.
If I were to do more lessons or get a racquet restrung I know where to go!

I’ve only had 4 lessons so far with Marwan, so my opinion could of course change, but I’ll say this based on what I’ve got so far: A nice guy, an energetic teacher, and very responsible, shows up right when he says he will and is good about answering emails. He’s my first tennis teacher so I’ve got nothing to compare, but I’m quite pleased so far.

Marwan is a stand up and honest guy who knows a lot about tennis. I went to see Marwan for a general critique of my 4.0−4.5 game and to identify any technical flaws in my 1^st serve (due to shoulder pain). After the hour, he recommended a couple of changes to my grip, stance and toss just slightly and it made a huge difference (no shoulder pain and no loss of power). He also has a friendly personality and I recommend him for beginners to advanced players.

I’ve just started taking lessons and I’m beyond thrilled. From the first moment meeting Marwan, his passion for tennis was apparent. Marwan is on time, patient, insightful and offers constructive advice with a humorous spin. His serious, yet fun, approach to tennis is really motivating.
Not only has my hitting/​game improved, I’ve had a ton ‘o fun doing it…

My name is Jeffrey Curtiss. I am a USTA computer rated 4.5 player and co-​captain of the men’s 4.5 Team Hukilau playing out of Golden Gate Park. My profile pic is of Team Hukilau at Golden Gate Park after our most recent victory. I regularly hit with college level players, and have been playing tennis for 18 years.
Marwan has been stringing my rackets since 1996. I estimate he has strung my rackets about 300 times (I break strings about twice a month because I hit with topspin on my forehand, backhand and kick serve). He’s dropped them off, picked them up, met my specific requests regarding tension and string type, been available on the phone, and has been all around a reliable and solid stringer. Let’s put it this way, I wouldn’t go to someone for 14 years if I didn’t like the service.
I’ve also been playing tennis with Marwan since 1996. I know his game inside and out. He has a passion for the game, and so do I. When Marwan decided to teach tennis full time several years ago, I knew it was the right career for him.
Marwan has forced me to become a better player. When we play against each other, I have a good idea of where my game stands. It’s never enough just to use power or finesse against him. I always have to use both if I want to stand a chance — that, and run a lot.
Marwan has been advising me on my game for a long time, and hopefully will continue to do so for as long as I’m playing. As a competitive tennis player (playing USTA league matches and tournaments), I rely on Marwan to give me constructive criticism to help me maintain and improve my game. Not only is Marwan a stringmaster extroardinare — he’s also a darn good teacher.
I came to Marwan because I was having trouble hitting angles — every ball I put in play seemed to just head harmlessly down the middle of the court. Marwan was quick to find a solution to my problems. Not only did he help me adjust my follow through and finish to get more spin on the ball so I could angle it better, he also helped me to speed up my footwork and racquet preparation so I could make earlier contact with the ball.
It may sound technical, so I’ll simplify. Whatever you want to learn on the tennis court — Marwan will help you. He won’t just go through the routine like some guys do — he’ll actually listen to what you want to achieve and tailor a lesson-​plan that makes those goals possible.
He’ll have you breaking strings in no time — but don’t worry — he’ll get you restrung just as quickly…

I am definitely not super talented with Tennis, considering many months of lessons from many different coaches did not help that much. After I have taken a month of lesson from Marwan, I feel much more confident with my tennis. It is very easy to see how he can find my flaws from every stroke. His eyes are like camera. He analyze my movement and my stroke very accurately and guide me to right direction which makes me focus on one thing at a time. I believe he will be my coach for a long long time.

I had never, ever played tennis before I met Marwan. He was patient, enthusiastic, and just an overall great, motivating instructor. After a series of 10 lessons, I was able to rally and play games with friends, which is so much more than I had hoped to be when I first started. I’d strongly recommend him for any ability range, he’s versatile, a strong, talented player and simply loves the game.
