Specialties

Executive Chef — Isaac Miller

Bar Manager — Tim Hagney

Maven provides inspired cocktails, captivatingly paired with lively plates in an inviting, casual setting.

History

Established in 2011.

Maven is an innovative bar and restaurant in San Francisco’s Lower Haight neighborhood. At Maven’s core is a paired menu, which couples creative cocktails with delicious small plates. Maven executes a style that is casual, while equally competent, sacrificing neither comfort nor elegance.

The focal point of Maven’s interior design is a living wall mounted behind the mammoth redwood bartop and communal tables. A dark alluring atmosphere, organic in nature, incorporating soft candlelight with deep wood tones, kindles the seductive and spirited guest experience.

Jay B.

Business Owner

Jay Bordeleau is a beverage fanatic. Designing Maven has given him a chance to explore various flavors and see how they synergize when brought together with food. Before opening Maven, Jay was managing Beretta Restaurant. Over years past, Jay has cut his teeth working within many esteemed restaurants in the city. Acting as wine director for Bacar and MECCA-SF. Equally inspired by distilled spirits, Jay’s spirit and cocktail experience stems from designing lists and bartending for Laïola and Home Restaurant.

Not shying away from getting dirty, Jay has also spent years on the production side of the industry at Rhys Vineyards. Beyond being knee-deep in grape marc during multiple harvests, it was here where his experience and passion for organic farming truly took root. Jay is a Certified Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers and an Advance Wine Specialist, WSET.
