Went in to correct this awful hair dye job I had done which left my hair red (I’m a brunette and do not look good with red hair). Met with Hannah and she was AMAZING. I got a full balyage, she was able to get rid of all the red and left my hair looking a gorgeous sun kissed caramel color. I was convinced she was going to say the red would not be able to be fully removed but she did it no problem! Truly talented. She also does an amazing balyage that is not too overdone but still stands out. I think I found my go-​to stylist. Thank you Hannah!

Hannah is a true color artist. She can work magic with Balayage. I have Asian black hair and tendency to be orange when colored. Hannah selected the perfect color and placed it beautifully. She is attentive, communicative and very detailed oriented. She’s only satisfied when you love your hair. I’ve gotten balayage in SF multiple times and this was the best yet!
Staff at Mercer are professional and helpful.
The salon is clean and well-​maintained.

Used to love this place. Was the only place i trusted. Until I went recently and although all the stylist are always Nice and what not. That cannot makeup for an uneven cut. A cut that I came in to get to be fresh for
My upcoming wedding. Really disappointed especially at $ 92 for a haircut. Guess it’s time to find a new place.

Holy Smokes! It’s hip, fresh, and the people are friendly. Travis is such a great cutter, Jel aka Anjelica is a great colorist. They have great products such as Shu Umera.
The owner is super friendly as well. Also I was told they do Keratin here. Free parking at the Marina Greens. 15 min walk away.

Today was my lucky day. I had a Gilt City voucher for a hair cut and was booked with Douglas. I showed him photos of a cut I wanted, but could sense he didn’t think it was the right direction to go. So I asked him for his input. He suggested some modifications to my style that would make it fresher, but yet I would retain the softness of my current cut. From the moment he started cutting I could tell he was a pro and knew what he was doing. I have a fabulous haircut and look sensational. This is the best haircut I have had in years. Don’t hesitate booking a cut with Douglas.

Douglas respected every long-​haired girl’s wish of «keep as much length as possible» when I came in for a 1 – 2 in trim.
For reference, I have dark medium thickness color treated asian hair. I’ve been growing out my hair for a few months now and wanted to trim the longest layer while giving an even shorter trim to my grown out layers for a little bit of movement/​to take off some of the weighted look of my cut. Douglas listened to the fact that I didn’t want any layers framing my face, wanted to keep as much length as possible, and freshened up the overall cut so that my hair still had some movement to it.
Tip: call in to make an appointment, I had a little bit of confusion using the Unilocal site to make my appointment but it all worked out after a little bit of back and forth with scheduling phone calls. parking isn’t terrible and you should be able to find something a block or so away.
My new go-​to in SF! Highly recommend and will be back =)

Hannah is THE best!
I walked out with a beautiful rich tint and amazing mahogany highlights. And her/​my blowout? The prettiest. Ever. Literally «Model» hair!
Not only is she a talented colorist — taking the time to ensure that I walked out with the look I wanted, but she’s super sweet as well!
I’ve gotten so many compliments and it’s only been two hours!

Mercer is seriously the best in San Francisco. Great atmosphere, fantastic products, everyone is super nice, I just booked an appointment and Peter at the front desk introduced himself over the phone to me and said «nice to meet you!»… SO NICE!
Alex Pappas is literally the best colorist I have ever had in my life. She is an artist with what she does, meticulously checking my color to make sure my balayage is perfection. I feel like she reads my mind when I tell her what I want, it’s like she knows what I want before I even speak! She makes me feel hot as ever by the time she is done blowdrying my hair!
If you want to feel like a million bucks, go to this salon. Its worth every penny!!!

Great haircut last Saturday from Lana! I used to see her until I moved to LA, moved back three years later and am happy as ever to return to Mercer Street salon and Lana!

I got my hair colored by Krystal the other day and I couldn’t be happier!!! She’s such an talented colorist — so much attention to detail and so much patience! She was incredibly communicative and made sure that I was getting exactly what I wanted. I have never bleached my hair so I had a lot of anxiety around it but she was super patient with me, explained everything and really quelled my anxiety! I have very dark, damaged hair but the process of lightening it and then dying it plum was not even a challenge for her. She really took her time and it totally shows. She even made sure to do extra conditioning and restorative treatments so that my hair would feel better and healthier leaving the salon than when I came in (even after bleach!!). She also gave me lots of tips for color care. She’s just incredible. She’s also so much fun, super easy to talk to and I had a great time hanging out with her all day at the salon. I really couldn’t be happier. I highly recommend Krystal — you will not be disappointed!

Hannah is amazing! So talented and so attentive to your hair needs. Anyone looking to get a balayage needs to ask for Hannah! She took my hair dreams and made them a reality. She takes extra time applying the color to the right areas so the outcome is beautiful. The picture speaks a thousand words!

This place is amazing! I needed a new hair salon up in SF, and came across this place from a friend’s recommendation. The location was great, the staff was accommodating, and the salon itself was very very nice. They serve lattes, cappuccinos, tea, and other types of drinks upon request.
I was scheduled for balayage highlights with Benji. I normally have dark hair, and was skeptical of going lighter, but I am SO happy I did! Benji is a miracle worker. You can tell that he’s definitely an expert at his career. He also gave me a wonderful cut and blow dry following. I was very pleased with my services at Mercer St Salon, and will be going back very soon. I highly recommend Benji for your stylist as well! (But I’m sure everybody else is just as wonderful)

I’ve been going to Mercer for the past five years. I’ve bounced around to several stylists but honestly you can’t really go wrong. The last couple of times I’ve gone to Douglas who gives a really great cut. Its a bit pricey but because i’m particular about my hair I will not go anywhere else.

My thoughts mirror Emily M’s review from 2.27.16. I had recently discovered Mike A. at Mercer Street and he was AMAZING. Best stylist I’ve ever had. Last week I called to make an appointment with him. Oddly, the receptionist simply said he was gone and did not offer or suggest someone else. After an unusual span of silence I said «thanks» and hung up.
It’s a shame. I was hoping to make Mercer my spot in the neighborhood.

I got my color done by Sammy yesterday and it looks amazing. I usually just go to whoever is available because I book last minute but I’m going to try and see her again next time! Highly recommend her for blondes.

Came here using a living social deal and will be returning! Moved to the bay and had a hard time accepting that I’d need to transition to a new stylist. The raving reviews for this salon are spot on, and I’ll echo the other comments in saying I’d highly recommend this Marina gem.
Sammi, Krystal, and Alnida were friendly, accommodating, and gave great advice about how to color my hair. You can expect to receive awesome customer service from everyone at the salon, from the second you walk through the door until you leave. They’re very warm, constantly offer you beverages, and make sure you are comfortable.
I will be making the trip from the east bay to come back, and I suggest that you pop by if you’re looking for a quality salon with an upbeat, fun atmosphere.

When I go to a place to get my hair done I look for a place to relax and I expect a friendly atmosphere, this place didn’t meet my needs. It’s overrated and ridiculously expensive, don’t get me wrong I am okay to pay a higher price, but only if I get excellent service and achieve the hair color I exactly requested, not close to what I requested, not similar to it, but exactly what I requested. Not too happy how it turned out…
Note to the owner, please work on your workers customers service, I would think at such a high end salon I would get friendlier service and wouldn’t be treated just like a walking Atm Machine… Disappointed, won’t be coming back!!!

I’ve been going to this place for a few years now. I originally stumbled upon the salon because of the name, it drew me in because I am from NYC. They are the best of the best, so warm and inviting, and everyone that I work with is super talented.
Sammi is my girl for my color, she listens to me and always makes me feel beautiful. I went from going super dark back to my natural blond highlights with Balayage and I really love how my hair looks and feels!
I absolutely love Masha. she is so easy to work with and makes everything so simple.

My favorite Salon in San Francisco! Been coming here for the last 4 years. I have a busy schedule, therefore I never get the same stylist. Every stylist I got was just awesome. I always come out feeling prettier. haha! The haircuts always come out better than expected. They always listen to my request. Listening is so important. Some salon just do what they think they know best. Well to be honest, I love my hair and I’m allowed to be picky. Mercer Street always does a great job.
But there was one time that my hair was shorter than asked but the cut was so pretty. Got so many compliments.
Services is always great and all the stylist has been amazing. The place is clean and open. I love it!

My hair needs are probably a little to simple for this place, as I have no idea what half the words on their services menu mean. Like what the heck is balayage?
However, I ended up here anyway because of a living social promotion.
The space is pleasant, large and airy and very quiet when I arrived. The receptionist was friendly, offered me a beverage and showed me where to hang my coat and handed me a funny robe thing to wear.
I explained my hair needs to my stylist and walked away with a haircut that suits my lifestyle. I am a fairly low maintenance hair person and explained that I didn’t care to much about my hair as long as it shoulder length and not layered, because I am never going to blow dry. Eyerusalem took her time cutting and styling my hair and left happy with my hair.
I am not a naturally chatty person, but in the course of the conversations I had with my stylist she did complain about a demanding client she had a recently. I thought this was really unprofessional, I do not think it is okay to complain about another client in front of other customers or coworkers. This made me really uncomfortable, and ultimately will prevent me from returning in the future because I would be really embarrassed to find out that a stylist was complaining about me in front of other clients.

Let me preface this review by saying that I came into this salon with really damaged hair. I had just gotten my hair extensions taken out and my hair was in a state of shock, or maybe I was. My stylist, Eyerusalem was just wonderful. She listened to me and gave me tips for how I can strengthen my thinning hair (as a result of the extensions). I let her know that I really wanted my hair to grow out and was hoping that my damaged hair wouldn’t require me to chop it all off. Eyerusalem told me not to worry and that she would take care of it. In the end, I absolutely loved my hair. It was healthy, shiny and not short at all! She was able to retain the length while getting rid of the dead ends.
The salon itself is also very nice. When you enter, the staff make sure to check you in, give you the option of a refreshment, and take you to the changing room so that you can take your coat off privately. I personally don’t like the Marina District but I will go back just to get my hair cut here again to see Eyerusalem.

I should mention that I have never gotten my hair dyed professionally. And I had taken a break from dyes all together for almost 2 years due to the fact I got pregnant and then have little «me» time with the baby but I thought it’s about time and I deserved it! When contemplating which salon I wanted to go to all I knew is I wanted one with professionals that wouldn’t mess up my hair!
So, this is a very trendy and upscale neighborhood to begin with so it made me feel good to be in a nice salon like this in the first place. And being a salon virgin I had the wrong idea of what I wanted but my hairstylist Sammi, still let me get what I wanted which was partial highlights.
She took her time and really didn’t rush the process. I felt like my hair was really being taken care of. With or without a coupon I plan on going back here!
