Solid brews! Came here for their pre-launch tasting event at the«future digs» of Method Brewing, which at least for purposes of the event and tickets they called«Methodology.» The logistics were not the best possible setup… there were so many guests and brews that pourers could not keep up and the line eventually circled back to consume the entire volume of available space. I’m sure that will get worked out when they are actually charging by the beer! Anyway, about the beers. We tasted all the ones they were pouring during the first hour, before the event became immobilizingly crowded. First, the winners! Pinot Kolschio: «a kolsch blended with pinot grigio must prior to fermentation» — This one was 8% alcohol and(can I say surprisingly?) tasty and balanced. I didn’t expect to like this one but I did. Bring on more beer /wine hybrids! Which brings us to: «Jealousy»: looks like wine, tastes kind of like wine. But it had a smooth subtle texture more characteristic of a beer. I’d definitely do that again even though I tend to dislike beers over about 7% alcohol and this one was 11%. Grapefruit shandy — It’s not really beer, because I think they just blended a cream ale with grapefruit juice… but it was really delicious, and I would absolutely have this on a warm summer day. Hope they have a sunny outdoor patio when they open«for real.» 51% Oat stout with Vietnamese coffee — very coffee-like! I liked it and would try it again. … and the ones I liked less: The Jalapeño IPA(JIPA, which they pronounce«jeepa»): They say it’s their most famous. I thought it tasted kind of like salsa verde. Not my fav. Noyaux Nut Brown Ale: I loved it at first, but after the first few sips the«house made bitter almond» taste became a little overwhelming… kind of alike a mouthful of apple seed. The Hoppit — Here’s another SF hoppy beer. I thought it was«just OK» but don’t trust me because I’m not on the hoppy train. I was also psyched to try others that they weren’t serving(yet): Jealousy with port Toasted coconu guayusa brown ale We seek Christians and spices See you when you open!
