This review is strictly of the«6 Chicken Wings» with the Spicy sauce, ordered through Eat24. I ordered my wings in a group order with several other coworkers, and the delivery arrived on time. The wings are strictly«fine». Good: the chicken meat is tender, the wings are a good size, there’s enough sauce on the wings to get sauce on your fingers, six wings will definitely hit the spot on a short lunch break, and ranch dressing is included in your order(though not necessary in my case, I don’t like ranch). No-So-Good: «spicy» definitely in finger-quotes here: the sauce is actually very mild and tastes of peanut butter of all things. I thought I was imagining it at first, but the peanut butter taste just got stronger as I ate the wings. Not an unpleasant taste at all, but if you’re expecting more traditional-tasting spicy wings you’ll be in for a surprise. In short, if my coworkers wanted to order from Metro Café again, I would be interested in ordering once again strictly for the convenience. But I don’t think I’d order for just myself. Three stars.

What started out as a plan to get sandwiches led to finding this little hidden gem. Whether it’s a popular spot among the locals and the neighborhood, I don’t know, but what I do know, its by far the best cheesesteak I’ve had in San Francisco. Let me preface by saying I wasn’t in the mood for a greasy cheesesteak after recently weighing myself, but I figured I’d find something on the menu that would work for me. The shop itself is easy to miss with a very small storefront and street presence. The shop has little room inside and is mostly kitchen with two tables and one high top table near the window. Luckily if you’re eating in, there’s additional tables out front great for people watching. The menu is simple and has five main sections: burgers, cheesesteaks, vegetarian options, hot dogs, fries and sides and appetizers. I went with the Hogi Cheesesteak which is grilled with onions, hot and sweet peppers, mayo, lettuce and tomato. Every cheesesteak comes with the option of steak or chicken. I chose the chicken option with a side of small fries. The cheesesteak cost me $ 8.95 for a small while the larger option runs for $ 13.95 and the side of fries cost $ 2.75. Considering it was the lunch hour, we were surprised at how empty the shop was and within 10 minutes I had my order. I have to admit that as soon as I was given my cheesesteak and fries, my mouth was watering. As I waited for my co-worker’s sandwich to come out, I nibbled on the fries which were fried nicely and had a good crisp to them. Once I took a bite of my chicken cheesesteak, I was instantly hooked. The sandwich was piled high with chicken, grilled onions, hot and sweet peppers and plenty of lettuce and tomato. I’ll admit that the sandwich was great, easily the best cheesesteak I’ve had in the city, but if I could change anything, I’d simply ask for no mayo. I was pretty skeptical about Metro Caffe but after giving it a chance, I can definitely say I’ll be coming back on a regular basis. The menu has enough options that you don’t need to be in the mood for a cheesesteak and their prices don’t kill your wallet. Additionally, if you can split a large sandwich with someone, you’ll save a few bucks and have more than enough food. Overall, a great lunch spot that serves delicious cheesteaks with fast and efficient service. Ambiance/Décor: 2⁄5 Food: 4⁄5 Service: 4⁄5 Price: $ Overall: 4⁄5 Pros: + Delicious hogi chicken cheesesteak + Plenty of variations of the classic cheesesteak + A Large sandwich can easily be shared with 2 people + Fries and other fried sides available + Reasonable prices and portion sizes + Beer available + Accepts credit cards + Street parking available Cons: — Limited seating

Definitely the best philly cheesesteak I’ve had in SF. I’ve tried several places while I’m in town and I have to say that this place is the best. Juicy meat and very tasty! I had it delivered by postmates and I’m not disappointed at all. I would highly recommend this place.

I am addicted to this delicious greasy burger joint and honestly I wish I lived further away. It is so good — amazing burgers plus their fries and tater tots are always on point. Grab a beer and watch the game while you wait for your food, or call ahead if you don’t feel like waiting. There are only a few tables inside so probably not ideal for large or ties who want to eat at the restaurant.

It’s my go to spot for hoagies. I could eat one everyday if left to my own devices. Thankfully, I have roommates who shame me from such a fate. You really can’t go wrong with your order here. Also if you’re looking for tater tots then this is your place.

The restaurant sent me burnt fries. Burnt. Why would you even serve these? I had an order delivered via Eat24 and my fries were burnt. I really don’t understand why they thought this was okay. 2 stars for the good burger.

I had a great experience the first time I came to this place, but the last time the experience was terrible. I ask if they could cut my chili dog in half and told me No! He told me that it comes in a tray and I can cut it myself with a knive and fork. I couldn’t believe it, I just didn’t order anything and won’t be back. I told him I would Unilocal him and he said«thanks». Well here’s your Unilocal

My friend and I went into metro with a full on heater. We had been to Bourbon and Bacon at Coco earlier. Probably slammed 10 bourbons in the last hour. He advised me NOT to get the large and not too get the bacon cheesesteak. I ordered a large bacon with tots. We proceeded to Molotov’s to enjoy our delicious cheesesteaks with some tasty beverages. It was there that we got around to discussing some of the more important topics of today’s political landscape… Osama Bin Laden’s sea burial and the virtues of the wallet vs the money clip. As it turns out, we were not in agreement. The night ended with my good ol friend standing up and yelling at top volume«FUCKYOU»! To which I boisterously responded«NO, FUCKYOU»! he left and I got a cab home. The next morning something amazing happened, this has got to be one of the best days ever. I woke up, fully clothed laying on my couch, even my shoes and jacket, still on. The lights were on, the TV was on and I had the most boomin hangover one could imagine. Without sitting up, I moved my hand along my lower chest and there it was, a discovery of monumental happiness. In my jacket pocket was a fully intact and pristine half of a bacon cheesesteak. Yesssssssss! Without delay I proceeded to nosh the fuck out of that morsel and then passed back out. I’m not sure this actually happened but my friend remembers part or it too, so I’m guessing it did in fact go down. The point is, go to metro, enjoy it with a friend, and if you’re lucky, you may end up with a cheesesteak in your jacket pocket.

Grabbed a cheeseburger and fries to go before hitting the road to Tahoe and this very nicely calmed the slight hangover I had from the late night before. Very old school, diner feel and taste to the burger. I kicked myself for not realizing they had tator tots before ordering, so I’ll just have to come back and get them next time! The fries were good though– on the thicker side and nicely salted. The employees were really nice too!

I was looking for a place to eat in the lower Haight that was fast and not too expensive. Well I only had a credit card so cheap went out the door, they had a minimum $ 10 charge for credit card. I got a mushroom cheesesteak and tator tots. They friend their tators really well, perfectly crispy on the outside, yum! They were out of a frozen bag, nothing special but good. Now the cheesesteak, um first bite the cheese tasted like processed cheese but I’m not sure, could be swiss? The meat was minced to the point it tasted like ground beef. I guess when I think of philly cheesesteak I expect long stringy cheese and slices of meat, not minced meat. It was just ok, I ate it all. Oh the bread was not bad.

This is a local in-neighborhood stop for me. Very small place with only a few tables inside and even less outside if you decide to dine-in. I’ve eaten inside, but prefer take-out as it can get pretty crowded if business picks up. Staff has never been anything but friendly to me. I frequently see the owner and the same guys manning down the grill. What it comes down to for this place is the cheese-steak. They make pretty standard burger/fries/appetizers but the cheese-steak is what stands out the most. Nice soft bread, a nice portion of seasoned beef and cheese. They make several different styles all with onion(house-and sweet/hot peppers, mushroom, bacon, etc.) A large is actually two regulars, for the price of 1 ½. When I’m feeling extra weak I will succumb to some chili-cheese tater-tots. Never wait more than 10 minutes, and always freshly made. No complaints. Reminds me of the East Coast.

I come to Metro 1x /week and love this place. The staff is always friendly and prompt, the food is fresh, made-to-order and priced well($ 10 for cheeseburger & fries). The notion of Metro’s staff being racist is completely false — the customers are ethnically diverse just like the staff and there’s no way Metro could stay in business if they didn’t treat everyone with respect. It’s one of the few places in Lower Haight where you can expect to strike up a conversation with customers from all walks of life and it’s what makes San Francisco the diverse destination so many people desire.

Burgers with a side of RACISM!!! I went into this establishment today. The man behind the counter told me that my friend and fellow patron would not be able to enter because he «smells bad.» I had been with my friend all morning, sat next to him on the MUNI, etc and NEVER smelled a thing. What’s worse is that the man would not address my friend directly. He would only address me. My friend happens to be an African-American man. I will not tolerate a business that treats people as sub-human. I felt like I had a glimpse into the 1950’s today. Metro, you should be HORRIBLY ashamed. SHAMEONYOU!!!

This place is so basic. Talking the type of burger your drunk uncle makes in 12 seconds at a family bbq, so he can get back to the pool to push his nephew in, even though the nephew can’t swim good, and the uncle thinks he’s gonna show his nephew how to be a real man, and it’s like uncle jerry literally nobody likes you here, you’re old and creepy and your burgers suck.

They’re not cash only anymore, but there is a minimum charge. Yum! I love the sides. My friend and I had the poppers and chilly tots. We also had a pastrami sandwich. It was good, but too much for the two of us to finish. However, I don’t regret it because it was just sooo good.

My friend and I took a leisurely walk and ended up here. I got the Metro Cheesesteak($ 7.88). It was really good. The bread was fresh and delicious. The meat was perfect with great gooey cheese. The peppers were really spicy, but the onions and peppers were great. The only odd thing was that they were letting people behind the counter in the kitchen. They let one guy go back to wash his hands and another went back to talk. It was a little odd but who knows. If you’re in the area, this is a great place to stop for a quick and filling lunch.
