You pay a little bit more to add cotton candy around you milk tea. It’s novel and interesting but def not interesting enough to do again unless you want to amuse children.

If you come here, you most likely just want that cute picture with the cotton candy. We ordered the hot Toro Milk Tea and added a cotton candy on top of 99 cents. The cotton candy part I feel is the part that gets people in this place. I saw some people just get cotton candy and leave, it’s a good selling point I guess. The drink by itself was meh, not something you would come back for. We got less sweet because everyone said they usually OVERLOAD on their sugar. In all honestly, wouldn’t come here again. You get it once and get your picture and you move on with life.

I thought I was going to be so much more wowed when I came here! The cotton candy was definitely a turn on for my friends and I but we didn’t even end up getting it since we’re self proclaimed tea aficionados and wanted to have the true tea experience. The tea was alright, I got standard ice/sweetener and honestly, it’s just any run of the mill tea place. I say if you’re in the Japantown area, you can definitely find a better tea place than this one.

Came here because saw the cotton candy boba and it looked cute so I dragged my already skeptical BF with me. Haha The drinks here aren’t very yummy and they are expensive. I wouldn’t mind paying that much for a drink I actually enjoy but I didn’t even finish my drink here. I got the honeydew black tea and my BF got an avocado milk tea(no idea what he was thinking lol) Both drinks weren’t good and the cotton candy messes with your taste bud. Sure, it’s cute but it’s not worth the money or waiting in line if there is a line here. I did however enjoy their customer service. They were serving pink cotton candy when I was there but I dont like the color pink so I asked if I could have blue cotton candy instead. The girl working behind the cotton candy machine was super nice and let me have blue instead! Yay! I know they both taste like sugar but tasting with your eyes is also super important to me and anything in the shade of blue or light blue looks appealing to me!

A cute tea place in Japantown for bubble tea, however the tea is weak tasting. I ordered a oolong tea with guava and the flavor was just too light for me. It tastes watered down. Hopefully they can improve the taste of the products over time.

I feel like honestly everyone goes here for the cotton candy/boba picture. I have in fact became a victim of this hype… but it is a total rip off! The cotton candy isn’t even included. It’s a dollar extra… For the milk tea: it is a relatively big size but the cost is pretty pricey. I forgot how much it was in total but I do believe it was around 5 dollars…(cotton candy and boba are extra with your drink) they do have a good variety of flavors making it sound like their teas are actually good but they aren’t. You also can choose how much sugar you want in your drink but still with the cotton candy it was too much. I think I got the almond milk tea it was just okay. Like everyone else says that with every bite of cotton candy and gulp of drink you can feel yourself getting diabetes. It’s just too much sugar. Overall: with or without the cotton candy this place is nothing special. Maybe it’s a nice boba place to visit if you are a tourist wanting a cute picture of your cotton candy /boba, but that’s basically it. Don’t be fooled by the cuteness of the drink. This place is really overrated and not worth the price.

Located in SF’s Little Tokyo, Mitsu Teahouse was all hype and no substance. Like everyone, I was lured here by the cotton candy. I guess anything cute will draw people’s attention. There isn’t even a correlation between the cotton candy and the tea. I thought it was meant to be mixed into the tea, but it was just plopped on top of the cup. I ordered the almond milk tea with half the sugar and it was probably the blandest milk tea I’ve ever had. I got my instagram pic and moved on.

I learned two new things about boba drinks when I came here. 1) You can get cotton candy around your cup 2) You can get full/half sugar I was amazed at these options and proceeding to enjoy my drink. My drink was good, but I felt like there wasn’t enough ice so was not cold enough for my taste. I don’t remember where the best place to get some boba in Japantown but for now I recommend coming here just because of the two reasons above!

The tea was sort of bland but I came here for the cotton candy. So, if you’re into cotton candy and want to put it on your tea this is the place. I would say it’s a one time thing. Cotton candy is $ 1. I’d probably buy milk tea elsewhere and get cotton candy on my own to save a little more money. It’s rather hidden so you have to go into the mall and it’s to the left of the stairs. Staff is nice.

The cotton candy would be 5 stars, but I’d give the drink 1 star. I ordered a green milk tea with boba and cotton candy. The tea was watery and the boba was flavor-less. The cotton candy was delicious though! Go here for cotton candy, but not for boba…

Black Milk Tea with no topping and 50% sweetness Rate: 2⁄5 Tea is weak, the drink is too watery, slow serving Green Tea Snowfall with no topping and 50% sweetness Rate: 1⁄5 Taste nothing like green tea with creama, creama have a unique taste that doesn’t suit the tea

I gave them a bonus star for the uniqueness of adding cotton candy on top of milk tea(as I have not seen that elsewhere), but otherwise, their drinks are mediocre. The tea flavor was weak and even more so once the ice melted into it. The server was also really slow and didn’t come to take our order for a good five minutes even though we were the only 2 people in the place.

Review for the shaved ice only. Went in on a Sunday around 5. The only favors they had left were earl grey and chocolate. We choose a large chocolate with condensed milk and boba. The shaved ice tasted like nothing. Like maybe a hint of chocolate flavor, but essentially we were eating brown colored rice. Even taking spoonfuls of ice with condensed milk and boba did nothing for the flavor. What the heck??? I should have listened to some of the other reviews. Friend ordered the cotton candy boba tea. Cotton candy was good. can’t say anything on the drink. The boba on our shaved ice though was pretty tender and fresh. With so many other options in Jtown I think I’d skip this one.

I ordered a matcha green tea latte and my friend ordered jasmine milk tea. My drink was okay, nothing to complain about. Having it 50% sweet was just right though. My friend hated her drink and said it was too watery… Lol. The only cool thing about this place is that you can order cotton candy on top of your drink. I didn’t do that because I’m not a cotton candy fan. However if you are, it is only 99 cents more. Kind of awkward carrying it around though, but an interesting concept to get people hyped up.

Obviously, most people who comes to Mitsu Teahouse is because of the cotton candy on top of the milk tea bubble drink. Me included. Located in Japantown next to Daiso, it’s in a pretty good location. The store is pretty small & cute. The drink w/cotton candy is def eye catching for Instagram worthiness. But the reality of it is that it was sticky to eat the cotton candy & messy. After tasting the candy first, I could barely taste the milk tea right after. After waiting for a little bit, I can taste the milk tea which tasted pretty good. The cotton candy part is def a good one time try, but next time I’ll skip the cotton candy & just get the milk tea only.

The things bubble tea shops are doing to make themselves stand out these days… but I must say, Mitsu Teahouse does a stellar job and really makes for some super cute and unique bubble tea! Regarding the flavors, there are lots of traditional flavors and lots of new and original ones. I’m pretty classic when it comes to bubble tea, so the two times that I’ve come to Mitsu, I’ve had only the classic flavors(green milk tea and then jasmine milk tea).I like that you can alter the sugar level(which is pretty universal nowadays when it comes to bubble tea places) and that the half sugar option is the perfect amount of light sweetness for me. I haven’t tried any of the toppings yet, but there are a lot of options to choose from outside of just bubbles. The main draw for people to go to Mitsu is the cotton candy on the bubble tea! It’s such a unique idea and presentation that really made me excited to visit Mitsu for the first time. Honestly, getting the drink here is the same as ordering a bubble tea and then cotton candy on the side… the two were very separate and didn’t feel like they complemented each other that well. The drink just looked VERY cool and innovative. I wound up giving the cotton candy portion of the drink to my friend who loves cotton candy and drinking the tea portion on my own. The cotton candy itself is delicious, but it wasn’t anything too different from normal cotton candy you can buy elsewhere. The portion was deceivingly large. Overall, I think the idea of a cotton candy ball on a bubble tea drink is really cool and unheard of… but the mixture of the two elements could have been incorporated better and more seamlessly. Nevertheless, I got some awesome, Insta-worthy pictures from my trips to Mitsu, which is always a plus!

If it was one thing that I could«fix» after my experience at Mitsu Teahouse, it would be their Customer Service! It was a warm Sunday afternoon. My friend, her family, and I drove from Sacramento to make it a ‘Family Day’ in San Francisco, particularly visiting Japantown. We discovered this place Tea Bubble Shop after seeing people walk around with large cotton candy on top of their Tea Bubble drinks. The Store was crazy busy and noisy. On the colorful walls they had instructions on how to order your drink. It did seem a little complicating when ordering a drink. The line didn’t move fast either. On average, each customer who ordred took at good 4 – 5 minutes before they moved aside to let the next person in line order. By the time it was my turn to order I found out(visually) that the Cotton Candy machine broke. I’ve already placed my order which came with cotton candy and was now just waiting for my drink to finish so they could call my name. Then it happened. NONE of the employees talked, acknowleded, or mentioned anything to the Customers. The«5 minute ordering process» now took even longer. One of the employees look a little bent out of shape and looked like he had a chip on his shoulder. He seemed upset. The other employees just walked around slow looking a little lost. It was completely awkward. By that time I started to get agitated and wanted to tell them to cancel the cotton candy and just mix me my drink so I can get out of their(noisy) Shop. I decided to stick around a few more minutes and surprised, my drink arrived WITH cotton candy ontop. I was excited… excited to leave the Shop. As I stood outside to take a sip of my drink my friends were watching me. Suddenly I made an awful ugly face and they laughed at me asking what was wrong. My Black Tea Passion Fruit with Milk and Fully Sweetened and Pearl Tapioca drink was HORRIBL!!! There was NO sweetness to the drink. I couldn’t taste the Passion Fruit flavor and the drink(with milk) was lukewarm. This was an $ 8 drink!!! Lesson learned. Never judge a book by its cover. There was nothing«sweet» from this sweet drink! I will not go back here again. My friends can try it out of their own curiosity but I won’t stop them from trying the drink and rate their drink themselves. Lastly, it really doesn’t take much(muscles) to smile and say«Thank You!» or «Have a nice day!» to your Customers… even if you, your store, or anything else is not going the way it should. :)

I felt like a superstar walking through the streets of Japantown during the Cherry Blossom Festival. I was stopped multiple times by people asking where my mysterious blue cotton candy boba had originated from. If only the visual wow-factor of my fluffy friend matched the quality of Mitsu’s drinks. Since my first visit was during the festival, I waited 45 minutes in line to get my hands on one of these hyped drinks. Although the wait was to be expected, I was disappointed to learn that the full menu was not available. Perhaps that was a blessing in disguise though since their service is pretty slow. I settled on a mango green milk tea with cotton candy(+ $.99 cents). The drink was weak in tea flavor, but the mango was there. It had an artificial sweetness similar to T-Pumps. Not too bad, but definitely not great. Second visit? Peach milk green tea w/boba that was terribly watered down. It tasted as if they had forgotten to add the peach flavor and the boba wasn’t fresh. Pretty disappointing. Service is rushed at the counter and then slow when you’re waiting for your order. The cotton candy does ultimately provide a unique experience and an awesome Instagram picture, but the quality of the drinks are sub-par and inconsistent. Really not worth a try.

I fell into the cotton candy hype and ventured over to Mitsu teahouse. It’s definitely an A-OK place. I thought my matcha tea drink was a bit on the watery side, but then I got the sugar high from my cotton candy and forgot about it. It’s worth trying at least once. Maybe their other drinks are better. If you’re really into cotton candy, check it out.

Come for the IG and cotton candy, but not for the tea. I came here after doing the escape room, since it was right across the street. I’d always seen this place in a bunch of instagrams, so thought I’d give it a try. I got a basic oolong milk tea with half sweet and cotton candy($ 0.99 extra). The cotton candy afro is pretty cool, but then again, it’s more of a gimmick than anything. Cotton candy and tea don’t really pair well together in my opinion. I was hoping for the tea to redeem the place, but I was left pretty disappointed. My tea tasted really watered down. I couldn’t taste the sweetness(unless they don’t put much sugar in regular sweetness) and the tea was pretty weak. Come for the gimmicks and instagrams, but if you’re looking for good tea, there are plenty of better options in SF.
