Takeout is easy and awesome! My colleagues and I work over at China Basin, so it’s a super quick walk to pick up food. Portion sizes were pretty ideal though it can get a bit pricey for lunch. I’ve been here twice in the last couple weeks and ended up trying the Miso Nama Ramen and Tonkotsu Nama Ramen. I love it! The Poki Salad is also amazing! My colleagues have gotten other items such as udon and lunch bentos. All pretty good.

I like this place. I come to the area often to visit a friend and we come here for lunch quite a bit. I like their rolls, my favorite is mango lobster roll. Their spider and dragon rolls are good too. Unagi nigiri are flavorful. The fush is fresh and sushi are tasty. I had chicken teriaky couple of times here and it was delicious. Miso soup that comes with some meal options is pretty good too. Service here generally is good, servers are friendly. When you get a new hire, expect no ability to answer your menu related questions. Servers who’ve worked there for a while are very helpful and know the menu well. Overall it’ s a good neibourhood restaurant with a tasty food.

PROS: 1.) Made reservations and although we were a little late, they were nice enough to hold our table. 2.) ordered a small plate of sashimi that came with 8 pieces & it was displayed beautifully with dry nice. The fish was also fresh. 3.) Get the lunch bentos! It comes with so much food.(Lunch ends at 3pm) 4.) customer service was great! Although, my party were the last one in the restaurant before closing, they were in no way rushing us out. CONS: 1.) I thought it was pretty expensive for the quality. 2.) It was nothing amazing or outstanding just average. 3.) the miso soup you get in the beginning is extremely salty! I had to dilute it with my water. VERDICT: — I probably won’t be coming back since it’s just any other typical sushi restaurant & it’s very out of the way for me. & most likely won’t come back if I’m ever in the area since there are so many other restaurants around here.

I was meeting my friend for lunch by his office and we both like sushi so we figured we’d give this place a try. I eat quite a bit of sushi and was disappointed at the size of the rolls. They were definitely overpriced for what we got and left both of us desiring a lot more after our meals were done. The taste, however, was good but still didn’t make up for the lack of food. Do yourself a favor and look into going somewhere else around here if you’re craving sushi.

I though I found a gem bud sadly the Ramen disappointed. The tonkatsu broth was bland and almost tasted like a 2 am phở broth. However, the pork was tender and flavorful. Seating was plenty. However, the staffing level was very minimal which led to long waits for ordering and one of my guests leaving without food. Restroom facilities were gas station level. Not a good experience.

Good sushi place around the corner. This is the best sushi place in walking distance from home. We’ve been there a couple of times and had good food. Even the vegetarian sushi seems to be very good. Some of the fish has a very intense taste and makes a fresh impression. The place is usually not very crowded and you can walk in without reservation. Some of the tables are next to the entrance and tend to be cold. Ask for a table in he back or next to the Windows.

Solid place. Been going here on and off for 10 years. I am usually pretty happy for the price and I feel they have alot of Rolls to choose from and some interesting rolls on The Name Speical Rolls

Nothing spectacularly good. Just average. The servers were very nice and courteous. We had the grilled chicken and a ramen. Ramen was ok, not too fatty like others(which is probably a good thing health-wise). Overall I will say if you happen to walk by AT&T stadium and craving for some japanese, you can stop by.

We’ve been going more lately bc my 4 y/o enjoys it. The rolls are decent and their service has improved over the past few years. They have a decent kid’s bento box that comes with rice, choice of protein, tempura, gyoza, and miso soup for about $ 7.

So this place gets 1 star because I was unable to try anything. Horrible service. Was seated and never greeted by a server for 15 minutes. She sat 2 other tables when I decided to just get up and walk out. On the way out no one even noticed or bothered to check on us. Won’t be eating here again or try to at least lol

1st time at Nama Sushi. Very chic and swanky place. Great location near AT&T park. Reasonably priced food and relaxing décor. Hopefully the sushi is as good as everything else.

If you come here drunk the food is great. I’ve been here at least five times already and I’m sorry to say I can’t give you a sober review :) I usually hit up Nama after some drinks at the bar and then come here for nabeyaki udon which is a steaming bowl of thick noodles, chicken and breaded shrimp. The portion is good if you get this or bibimbap; rolls are pretty puny. The staff here are cool with drunk folks, and the place is quiet so you get reprieve from the noisy bar scene. Great for conversations. They also serve sake so if you need more alcohol! Is it overpriced? I think so, and I wouldn’t come here by myself. But, if you’re with good company it’s one of the few restaurants in the general vicinity that doesn’t have a long wait list.

This review is just for the sushi rolls, not the bento boxes or other lunch specials. This is a sushi place near my office. My friend insisted that I join him for lunch here because one of the waitresses was apparently a doppelgänger of Taylor Swift. Turned out that he is delusional, because neither I or our two other friends agreed with him. The waitress is gorgeous, but the only thing that resemble the 1989 Taylor Swift was her lipstick shade. That obsessed friend agreed to disagree with us. Lol. Back to the sushi! Service was prompt(Thanks, Tay Tay!), we got our water cups quickly after placing orders. but it took a while for the food to get to our table, perhaps because it was lunch time. I love the presentation of the sushi rolls on a wooden platter. I find that the rolls were smaller compared to other sushi places I have been to, and I was worried that it won’t be enough to go around. True enough, we were not full after finishing the rolls. We shared 5 sushi rolls to share among 4 of us, with one of my friends having a super small appetite. There was no time for us to order a second round for lunch since it was a busy day at work. Perhaps, we were just really hungry that day. I have to say the food was delightful though. Not the best rolls I ever had, but definitely no where near being the worst. I came back another time with a different group of friends to try out the salmon sashimi lunch bento box, and found that it was pretty value for money, even though the rice is kinda on the drier side. Probably won’t come back unless I’m craving for Japanese food badly during lunchtime, but then again, there is always Sushirrito. :P

I’ve eaten here only 2x and out of convenience. The place is overpriced… but I guess it’s the location. Anyways to the food. I’ve had the salmon teriyaki bento, the salad had a bunch of water at the bottom, the noodles greasy, cabbage meh. Salmon barely any teriyaki. Overall edible but not worth the ~$ 14. Today I had the Bomb roll. It’s just a Cali roll with Tuna and fried salmon skin on top. The description said crab… I didn’t know it was just going to be a cali roll… The roll was ice cold and had no flavor, it seemed like it was pre made… the salmon skin was the best part because it was warm. I know sushi is not supposed to be warm unless cooked… but to be ice cold… it wasn’t good. The staff was nice enough. But I won’t be going back. Overall the food is edible and of good quality, but I wouldn’t suggest it. And even if you were going to settle for average food for lunch… the prices will make you think otherwise. You’re better off going to Safeway for sushi… that says a lot.

I’ve ordered the chicken katsu and chirashi bowl here, both for carry out. The staff is very friendly and your food comes out quickly since the restaurant seems to never be that crowded. Both items were around $ 20, plus or minus $ 3, which is a bit expensive for a casual meal. However, the portions are substantial and can satisfy large appetites. Both entrees were very, very good. The plum(?) sauce on the katsu complemented the crispy chicken well, and it also came with a few sides. The chirashi bowl was the best I’ve had anywhere; the chef was super generous with the fish so that the rice to sashimi ratio was perfect(when does that ever happen? never). Everything tasted very fresh. You might have to remind them to give you ginger and wasabi because they forgot with my order. This location is also super convenient for anyone taking the Caltrain, going to an event at AT&T Park, or living in SOMA/mission bay. I’ve tried a few of the other Japanese eateries nearby and this was the best!

I ordered a combination bento of California rolls and salmon sashimi. The bento came with the California roll, but a combination of salmon and tuna sashimi. The waitress brought over an extra slice of salmon as she said the order was supposed to come with 5 slices instead of the four I received. I guess I could have mentioned then that I didn’t order tuna, but what the heck, I like tuna. Then I paid $ 25…for lunch… total with tip. I felt cheated. Sorry, never again. I’ve definitely experienced better for that price.

BESTDINNER I HADONTHISTRIP~! I was surprised how fresh everything was. Everything we ordered was amazing! The staff was really nice too. I have to say the coolest thing was when we ordered the sashimi. It was served with dry ice and made a really cool smokey effect when it was served to us. I’m extremely impressed with this restaurant.

Came in mid-week at 1 pm for a business lunch, and this place was packed! With no tables open, we decided to sit at the bar, which — though small — was comfortable enough. If you like the person you’re with, it’ll be no problem. ;-) Service was prompt and attentive without being intrusive. There were lots of business-y types having meetings over lunch, so staying out of peoples’ hair seems to be the service culture at this place. Worked for us! I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box($ 9.75). It was OK, but I feel like the chicken got a little over-cooked, and I would have loved some miso soup with it. They could take out the clear noodles and cabbage slaw and replace it with tempura, and I’d also be stoked. :-) Not a terrible meal, but I’m not rushing back anytime soon for it. Their rolls are definitely the star of this place — large, fresh pieces of fish very cleanly arranged. The spicy rolls are great. If I return in the future, I’ll stick with that! A decent place to go if you’re in need of a quick bite during the day!

Meh, do yourself a favor and skip this joint. We were looking for a place to eat after getting of Caltrain & this place was conveniently located nearby. Sushi rolls looked good so we figured why not. Walked in & was seated right away but it took forever for the waitress to come by and ask what we wanted to drink! We placed our order at the same time out of fear it would be another 15 mins before we saw her. The tables around us were already seated and had drinks before us but their food hadn’t even arrived yet. Great… 20 mins went by and we finally got our rolls. The chef’s special spicy roll was okay. The rice was weirdly cold. Fish was pretty fresh. The spider roll was such a disappointment. Hardly any soft shell crab!!! I can’t remember the name of the last roll but it had«crunch» on top. Which was no longer crunchy but super stale! $ 50 later, we walked out not satisfied or full. I’m sure SF has better places around so make sure you plan your meal beforehand! The restaurant was only half full so I’m not sure why it took incredibly long to get service and food. Pass.
