The food available from the trucks at Proxy are always different from night to night. When I went, it was a taqueria, Indian, German and Avedano’s. My friends and I have a group dinner night once a month, and we try to mix it up. We were all able to eat, people were able to come and go, and it was kid friendly! The live music was a treat.

This isn’t as over the top as all the other off the grid locations and I think that is why I like it. There are also a different set of trucks than I have seen at 5M or Civic Center. Maybe this is the try out spot. Either way I like it. It’s right next to the Ritual and Smitten places. Same OTG style, a handful of food trucks, some tables and chairs and just overall a quick meal. You even always have a dedicated coffee, dessert and well butcher too if you go to the meat wagon afterwards. Wednesdays, and sometimes on the weekends as well.

Fun lights, nice seating, close proximity to the beer garden and Miette, OTG in Hayes Valley could not be more delightful. It also is happening ALLTHETIME! I always try to catch BaconBacon and Koja Kitchen when they are there, but there is always something new and delicious to try. Off the Grid is one of my favorite things about SF.

This is my fav Off the Grid location. It’s in a lot(part of SF Proxy) so it’s surrounded by chain link fences and other Proxy projects(Biergarten, Ritual Coffee, Smittens, etc) so it has a great semi-enclosed space – you don’t feel like they just set up in the middle of the street. Can’t resist stopping by when we know OTG will be at SFProxy!

Went to the jewish eastern european soul food truck and got the schnitzel-wich, borsht stew, and the rye bread puddin’. HELLO. Awesome. The stew was blessed with crème fraîche… making it a creamy-tomato-beefy bliss, the schnitz was fried to perfection, and the rye puddin’ was laced with jarlsberg and served with chunky russian dressing madness! Unfortunately this was the only interesting truck there IMHO. This truck gets 4 stars. The rest of the trucks bring it down to 3. They weren’t bad… just not appealing to my eyes or stomach.

Really?(In response to other comments). I think maybe people are enamored by just the idea of food trucks. But SF food trucks are not that good and are overpriced and not that convenient(because they are open for such a small window). I was excited that I live so close but then disappointed when I tasted it and found out the price. I’ve lived in many cities and these food trucks are the worst. I heard their is one that is actually worth it. Its one of the Indian ones. I still need to try it. If it didn’t close at 1pm I would have had the chance.

One of my favorite Off the Grid locations. Wednesday & Thursday nights Love the neighborhood and whoever thought of adding Hayes Valley as one of the new locations was smart especially since your get the Berigarden crowd. No lines. Usually only have three trucks but that’s all I need. I don’t need to stand in long lines like the Haight or Fort Mason location. I can always find out which trucks will be there from Off the Grid facebook page. For example, knew Bacon Bacon truck will be at Hayes last Thursday and decided tos top by after work since its on my way off the bridge. Will definitely keep coming to this location. Small and quaint.

Last night was the launch of OtG: Proxy in Hayes Valley and I was excited to attend after a long afternoon full of lectures on campus. Arrived at the proxy around 7pm and was surprised to see more people than I expected for a launch(good thing!). There were a handful of chairs setup and a couple of musicians playing beside the Blue Bottle coffee shipping container. Three of the major trucks were at hand: CurryUpNow, Señor Sisig, and the Chairman. There was also a meat truck opposite Blue Bottle Coffee that was more of a grocery-type rather than prepared food. I went straight for Señor Sisig cause I still have 4VOICE daily deal vouchers to use there. The Proxy isn’t a large space so probably only 3 – 4 trucks will be in attendance weekly. Do I hear a Seoul on Wheels appearance soon? *crosses fingers* I can see a potential crowding hazard in the future but let’s not think about that. If there aren’t enough chairs, just walk across the street to Patricia’s Green. There are many dogs here who freely roam so if that’s not your thing, you’re out of luck. Many of the dogs were not shy to do their urinary business in the grass so as the Genovian consolate would say in the Princess Diaries, «GETOFFTHEGRASS!»

OTG: Proxy Organizer website: Hours: Wednesdays thru Saturdays 5−9pm 3 food trucks Tonight was the launch party for OTG Proxy in Hayes Valley, with Señor Sisig, Chairman Bao and Curry Up Now. Location #12 of this food truck empire. Although in reality the food trucks had been operating quietly here since last year. That’s when I first sampled the Phat Thai truck. I like the cute little Octavia Park(aka. Patricia’s Green), it’s never been windy when I visited. Can be a romantic spot. And if u don’t like what the food trucks have, just walk to any of the nearby restaurants. But your choices are not limited to OTG’s 3 food trucks. Proxy is a temporary development(to be replaced by housing in 4 years) with their own group of food vendors. Usually there’s one food truck parked daily during lunch time. Buy groceries from the Avedano Meat Wagon truck(Thu-Sun) parked next to the Ritual Coffee stand. Get dessert from the Smitten Ice Cream stand, and/or quench your thirst at the Biergarten. **Update: 3 more days have been added to OTG Proxy in Hayes Valley. Now Wed-Sat evenings.
