Pacific Custom Flooring

We worked exclusively with Dimitri on our 1200 sq ft flooring replacement project and while we had a couple hiccups, the work looks great. The scheduling was a little tough but in the end, we’re happy with how our floors look.

These guys can’t be bothered to either pick up their phone or return a message.

We are the happy owners of a new (engineered) hardwood floor, installed by Pacific Custom Flooring. We highly recommend Pacific, based on our experience with them. Dimitri, his father and the workman were all pleasant and professional. Dimitri was very well informed when answering our questions about health and environmental impact of various products. He also told us about a rebate offered by the provider of the wood, and is helping us obtain the rebate. The installer took measures to limit dust while working, and after each day’s work he vacuumed the work area. The floor is beautiful, and we no longer have to breathe toxic carpet fiber. Thanks, Pacific, for a job well done.

I was very happy to get some great advice, and a little help with some small scratches, from the very profession Dimitri. I had called to get an estimate on cleaning the floors. He pointed out that the floors are in great condition (but for a few scratches — which he immediately cleared up for me) and instructed me on the best product and process to maintain the floors. No charge at all. Couldn’t have been more pleased.

Here’s the latest. After the last round of beetles that hatched in my hardwood flooring. I had more beetles that ate through a piece of hardwood recently. Its a bit scary considering I did not know when they would hatch and chew through my hardwood. This time around, Pacific Custom Flooring took over and contacted an entomologist to get advice. I really appreciate their willingness to take responsibility for this matter as the company who sold us the hardwood flooring Golden State Flooring went out of business 2 months ago. So, I was not able to file a claim to Indus Parquet (the manufacturer of the hardwood) through Golden Gate Flooring. Ya see, it was a very complicated issue, I am really glad I did not have to go through all these companies just to get to the culprit. Either way, I’m really glad Dimitri took over and I’m even more glad that I’ll be getting these beetles out of the house (soon I hope). They’ve certainly over stayed their welcome!
*Update: Dimitri just came over to provide a refund. He also took a chalk and simply painted over the beetle holes. Not exactly what I wanted, but okay, I can live with their dead bodies underneath my wood. Just incase you were curious what the wood looks like underneath, I posted a picture. Despite my explanation of why I’d like to have this piece of wood removed. He still insisting on putting over a layer of wood crayon stuff to «fix» the holes. Oh well. I’ll take what I can get.

Um, I haven’t even met them yet, and won’t, either, but they have a «lowest price guarantee» on their website. This is definitely not accurate.
We have a small 80 sq ft kitchen we need re-​done. I’ve gotten several quotes that are costly because they must charge a minimum (since the space is so small) — it ends up being around $ 13 sq ft. When I called Pacific Custom Flooring, he quoted me $ 24 a sq ft. When I said that was really high — he said that was the cost.
Its fine with me to charge a lot, but don’t have a «lowest price guarantee» if that is the case. I wouldn’t have wasted my time.

We recently used Pacific Custom Flooring to install new hardwood flooring in our 1700 foot house in Noe Valley. They are absolutely gorgeous and I continue to get compliments every time someone walks in. Alex was the person we dealty with. I found him to be extremely responsive, friendly and honest. I got estimates from 5 different companies and chose Pacific Custom Flooring. They were very reasonable and seemed to be the most knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend them to anyone and they do beautiful work.

Dimitri and team installed hardwood floors in my condo about a year ago. They did it in a day and a half while I was still living there. The floors are still beautiful and a good match for living room. Overall, I was very impressed with Dimitri and team’s knowledge, their attention to detail, and their work. They were a little expensive, but having tried to cut corners on other home remodeling projects, you usually end up paying for it in $$ and stress when you don’t hire great people So I think they are worth it.

We had some work done by Pacific Custom Flooring a year ago. They did an excellent job. I had ~300 sf of hardwood floors installed in our condo. All in, the job took a day and a half. Everything turned out amazing and Dimitri was extremely helpful throughout the entire process; he helped us pick out the type of floor we wanted and explained the differences between the various types of wood and installation options.
It is always hard to find contractors /​companies you can trust, and Pacific Custom Flooring is on our list.

I thought long and hard about how to update this review and concluded that my overall experience was still a one-​star situation. After receiving terrible customer service, getting yelled at by Dimitri, and getting subpar installation, I didn’t hear from them for weeks. It wasn’t until I reported this issue to the Diamond certified people, which I should mention is kind of a sham because the company pays for this distinction, that I finally received an email from Alex.
Alex was very cordial in his email and during his visit out to my condo, but I thought there were two MAJOR issues:
(1) After admitting that his brother should not have torn out/​replaced an original plank, Alex did very little to actually fix the situation. He put in some caulk to plug up the gap between it and the adjacent planks, but didn’t touch the fact that it wasn’t flush with the adjoining plank. Alex said that he replace all the planks to the nearest wall, but that this would likely require additional materials. Given that the problem was their fault for originally installing a flawed plank and then their fault for doing the wrong fix, I don’t see why I should have to pay at all to fix it.
(2) During our meeting, Alex asked me to update/​remove my Unilocal review. Isn’t that up to me to decide? He said that my Unilocal review was hurting his business and he didn’t think it was fair. Well, I don’t think it was fair that I was treated terribly by Dimitri, but did anything substantive happen to fix that? No. Three days later, Alex follows up with an email saying that he would appreciate it if I would update my review. You know what? I would appreciate it if you would fix my floor and refund some of my money, especially for the cost overruns (10% on an over $ 8,000 job) that were, again, THEIR fault. It was pretty clear to me that he was just in it for his own business and not to make me, the customer, happy. As far as I understand, that’s what a customer service business is all about.
If you read through my other Unilocal reviews, you’ll notice that I’m a fair reviewer and have only given a 1 star review to used car dealer that blatantly lied. I would not recommend using Alex and Dimitri because it appears that most times the job goes fine, but if you’re the unlucky one like me, I would find a business that treats their customers right.

Pacific Custom Flooring removed the nasty smelly carpet our new house came with and replaced it with beautiful Pecan engineered hardwood floors. Most of our customer service interactions were with Dimitri, but his father Roman and crew handled the actual installation work.
They did a phenomenal job and our floors are gorgeous. When they didn’t have the specific (rare and tropical) wood we wanted, Dimitri called his brother in Florida and got the right stuffed shipped out here for us!
The only reason that I give them 4 stars and not 5 is that I’m a fan of under-​promising and over-​delivering (as opposed to the opposite). Our home is an old Victorian with un-​even subfloors. We were concerned about installing floating floors because of the potential for «bounce» in some areas. Dimitri assured us that that would only occur in the case of sub-​par installation and not when they did the work. However, we do actually have some bounce in a couple areas. Honestly, our subfloor was so damaged that I don’t believe anyone could have done better, but if he had just admitted that possibility right off the bat I would have given him the fifth star ;).
Even so, we interviewed 5 different companies for this job, and I am confident we made the right choice in sticking with Pacific Custom Flooring. I highly recommend them both for the price and the quality of work.

My wife and I were dreading the fact that we had to deal with yet another contractor to get our floor done for our inlaw — we had some work done on our roof about a year ago and the experience was… «not great» to say the least. I don’t know if it was karma, but working with Pacific Custom Flooring was the exact opposite of our roofing job.
We googled and called exactly 2 other places before working with Pacific Custom Flooring. Alex and Dimitri were very knowledgeable and helpful all the way through the project. Dimitri held our hand through the entire installation process and was always very responsive to our needs and respectful of our time.
The entire project took about a week. We ordered the materials, got our old nasty carpets ripped out and dumped, and 3 days later we had our beautiful new Maple floors! We did have one snag with our weird stairs leading into the inlaw — we have an old house — and wanted a few steps redone, and they were for no extra charge!
Needless to say I reenacted that scene in «Risky Business» more than once — my wife strongly disagrees — but I think I did better than Tom Cruise.

Pacific Custom Flooring did a superb job of installing our Brazilian Hickory flooring. Dimitri was on time for appointments, gave us a detailed quote, and gave us a reasonable price. Their installer, Damba, is quite an artist, and on top of working quickly and neatly, had a real artistic sense as to how to vary the planks of wood. Our floor turned out great and I would not hesitate to recommend this high quality company to others!

I recently had hardwood flooring installed by Pacific Custom Flooring, and I am happy to say that they did a superb job. The workmanship was impeccable and their service was outstanding. They arrived as scheduled and completed the job on time. They even moved my furniture free of charge. I thought what they charged for the entire job was very reasonable. We have a house built in 1939 and the hardwood floor with many squeaking spots. Called PCF to find out whether they can help with the squeaking problem and the person who answered the phone was extremely courteous and helpful. Told me about the two realistic options, and the pros and cons of both. This was even though I was looking for service that they do not provide. How refreshingly professional!

They did a great job, for a fair price. They’re bonded and insured, and AAA Diamond Certified. They have a showroom in Sunnyvale and one in San Francisco. I worked with Alex, the son of the owner, and he was thorough, conscientious, and followed through on all discussions. Also was able to make solid recommendations on color, style, design, etc.
They’re focused on ensuring that the customer walks away completely satisfied, and they do whatever it takes to make it happen. I’ll work with them again if we need to do more flooring.

We had bamboo flooring installed by Pacific Custom Flooring, and are very happy with the job they did. The floors are beautiful, as are the finishing touches, the moulding and base boards. There were a few small communication glitches along the way, but everything was done to our satisfaction in the end. The only complaint I had, and it isn’t enough to lose a star over, is that we were told that Dimitri and Roman would be doing our install, and we ended up having another employee installing our floors. However, he did a great job, so other than being surprised at the beginning we were still happy with the result.

The guys at Pacific Custom Flooring did a fantastic job. We bought an old carriage house that was anything but level – someone built an addition on the original structure that included about a 2 inch difference between the livingroom and kitchen. Dmitri and his dad offered us some suggestions and ended up raising up the kitchen to match the livingroom. I was skeptical about this idea, but it really looks great.
I would recommend them and hire them again myself.

Dimitri and his dad Roman did great by us. We were first-​time homeowners and had lots of questions. Dimitri was very kind and patient with us, giving us several estimates to choose from. He even referred us to a past client so we could see the floors they put in (they were excellent). So we went ahead with the project.
They removed out our existing subfloors, replaced them with new ones, and did a nail-​down install on top. We chose strand-​woven bamboo and absolutely love it. The work was done on time with no cost overruns. The floors are brilliant.
While the floors were installed perfectly, the moldings around the floors and door frames were left pretty rough. This can all be smoothed out with paint and putty, but it was a surprise to us. They also broke the plastic skirt below the fridge. When I pointed it out, they replaced it without question.
I’d recommend Pacific Custom Flooring highly. They did the job on time, in budget, and the floors are just stunning. I hope to enjoy them for many years to come.

I had hardwood floors installed in my house a few months ago and Pacific Custom Flooring did an excellent job. They were timely, gave an accurate estimate, and completed the job when they said they would (which, if you’ve ever remodeled, you know is extremely rare). Mr. Rechevskiy was very helpful and professional. I will definitely use their services again when I get around to replacing the laminate in my in-​law apartment.
