I’m not really a pizza person. so I’d say this was pretty good? They make small thin-crust pizzas with interesting toppings. There are usually ~7−8 different beers and a handful of wines by the glass offered. The ambience is super casual — they just have a large space with a few benches + tables, and you seat yourself anywhere. 1) Rocket man with added chorizo — totally got this for the egg on top. I love anything plus egg on top. And then there was also some arugula and lemon juice. 2) Short bridge — sausage, sorpressata, and prosciutto(possibly?) with mushrooms and some other stuff, definitely for the meat eater! (You can go on their website for the full description of each pizza.) For dessert though, I got a scoop of Mitchells’ chocolate ice cream with olive oil and sea salt YUMM! I know it sounds a tad weird initially, but the flavors complement each other really well, as long as you don’t overdo the olive oil. I recently discovered this combination at a different location and have been obsessed ever since.

Really good pizza! Fresh and tasty and pitchers of beer too! AlthoughI really like the pizza, I have left here hungry. The pizza isn’t that filling. Seating isn’t the most comfortable and kind of a strange ambiance. Friendly staff and good place to bring kids though. I live in the hood, so I keep comin! Bathrooms need some help. Dirty and missing towels.

I’ve been there a few times and would say they generally have good(no great) pizza. We ordered the other day and got two pizzas, one of which was pretty good and the other was burnt to the extent that all of the crust was inedible. Whenever a mishap goes wrong to the extent it ruins a meal, I always provide feedback to the company first. I let them know but got zero response, which gives me much greater concern than the occasional burnt pizza. Worth noting for first timers: I appreciate that they try to make the carry out easier with their testing system but it’s still very hard to find parking.

Oh, gracious me. My family loves us some Pizza Hacker. We go here at least once a week. Usually too crowded, but worth it for the pies which are some of the best available citywide. I only wish they delivered, but then I’d be in serious trouble at the gym ;)

Legit thin crust; crunchier than your usual Neapolitan ‘za when it cools off; perfect sauce-to-dough ratio; not salty or soggy; smoke salt and good olive oil is a nice touch; and no wait(per Sunday night observation)… I’m convinced this is going to be my staple pizza spot! We ordered Top Shelf and Short Bridge. Mind you if you want super cheesy, thick pizza packed with toppings, this is not your pick. The mozzarella was indeed on the lighter side on our Top Shelf Marge, but I’m sold with the dough and the combination. Ah, and don’t forget the Mitchell’s Chocolate ice cream, topped with olive oil drizzles and smoke salt… Pleasantly surprised by the boosted olive oil aroma. Very intricate sweet and savory flavors!

2.5 stars I had a high hope for this place after reading raving Unilocal reviews and pictures of beautiful Neapolitan style pizza with perfectly charred edges. Unfortunately, it was quite a disappointing experience to dine here. We ordered a Margherita and Rocket Man. Margherita arrived first. I was not impressed — the tomato sauce was under-seasoned and lacked deeper umami taste. My dining companion thought that the crust was not very satisfying because it did not have those slight chewiness developed with yeast. Their ingredients tasted all very fresh — and I enjoyed the combination of arugula and egg in Rocket Man, but I did not taste any lemon that was supposed to be one of ingredients in Rocket Man. Although staff there were friendly and courteous, there was some issues with services. The first pizza arrived reasonably quickly, but we waited another 15+ minutes to get the second pie. If we ordered a salad and a pizza, I can expect a wait between courses — it did not make sense to me that we get one pizza at a time. The restaurant was about 60−70% occupied — but we saw that quite a few people came to pick up a large order of takeout when waiting for our food. Is it possible that the kitchen was giving priority to take-out customers over dine-in ones? Overrated.

I sat at the bar and ordered a Short Bridge. Delicious crust, just the right amount of sauce, tasty meat toppings. Some of the better pizza I’ve had in SF — similar to Pizzeria Delfina and A16. Super fast, friendly service(I watched them make and bake my pizza in under 10 minutes — that’s the beauty of an incredibly hot oven). Nice, casual neighborhood vibe — great experience. I’ll be back!

I really love this place. I’m not a fan of the names of the pizzas but that’s just me not liking gimmicks. I like the sausage pizza. Yummmnmm. Wood fired. Nice ingredients. Great thin crust. Just a great neighborhood standby. The house intermezzo salad is really great. It shouldn’t be overlooked.

The Top Shelf Margherita is currently my ultimate cheat meal. I can polish an entire pizza, no problem in twelve minutes flat and even sneak in a bite or two of my husband’s pizza if there is still anything left on his plate. AND if he’s not in protective mode deflecting my fork/knife making its way over.(Yes, I sometimes eat my non-NY style pizzas with a fork/knife. What of it?!) So we all know the parking situation in this neighborhood can get atrocious however we just discovered they have a curb side pick up option.(How am I just learning about this?!) You’re connected to PH via your mobile and they send a notification to let you know to pull up. I guess in the meantime you can idle somewhere, wherever you can get away. Once you see their notification you pull up, hold up the yellow screen to the window with your order number et voila! You are on your way back home, delicious pizza in tow and you didn’t even need to get out of your pajamas to retrieve it if you don’t want to. How brilliant is that? But now that I know this, this is terrible news for my low carb dieting efforts.

If I can easily polish off an entire pizza pie by myself… with equal parts relish, enthusiasm, & carnality… You get 5 stars. Last night I finally had the privilege of trying The Pizza Hacker’s pizza. Jeff, aka, The Pizza Hacker, developed quite a devoted following after he custom made his own pizza oven from a weber grill, & started selling his amazing creations all over the city. For his enterprising qualities alone, you gotta give the guy mad props. In a very Cinderella story kind of way, he now has a full on restaurant in bernal heights. A very cool, hip, urban, & casual full on restaurant in bernal heights. It’s simple. There’s a couple of salads, & about 6 pies to choose from. Mitchell’s ice cream for dessert. Small batch wine & beer. That’s all folks. And you know what? That’s more than enough. When the pizza is this good & this strong, there’s no need for ornamentation or distraction. The star product speaks for itself & more than holds its own. We decided on «Get A Room.» Spanish chorizo, onion, their(absolutely delicious) house tomato sauce, olives, fresh parmesano reggiano… It was dynamite. Crust? House sourdough thin. It was crisp throughout. Excellent. The hot sauce I added took it to an almost ethereal level. We had wine. Well, I did. He had beer. I would have happily eaten the whole 13″ pie by myself if my man wasn’t with me. But, I share. It was a simple & perfect meal. I read that Jeff is «just trying to make the best pizza in the world.» He’s off to a good start. 5 stars.

Places like this prove that the best pizza in the world is without a shadow of a doubt in the US of A. Italy, what a joke… Lots of different combinations, basically none of them involving anything usual. In all honesty although the pizza was very good, it’s not my preference of meat toppings(I would go for pulled pork or chicken over chorizo or prosciutto) and thus the 4 stars but there is no doubt this is a 1st class pizza establishment. They also have some good beers on tap. Definitely recommended

PIZZAHACKER is… …the most hipster pizza place of all the hipster places in the Mish. …relatively calm ~6:30pm last Saturday. …a mish mash of funky benches and brightly colored chairs. …a wall doing double duty as a menu and chalk scribbling magnet for kiddies. …a regular sized Intermezzo salad of organic greens and veggies nicely dressed in poppyseed dressing($ 8). …a short wait for a Hubby approved meaty Short Bridge pizza($ 18) and a lighter Summer Fave pizza($ 17). …a debate re: if the crust was burned or not.(Spoiler alert! It was burned). …an odd question from server.(After putting down $ 100 to cover the ~$ 40 check being asked«Do you need change?») …a new addition to the«would definitely go back» list.

You know how people always start reviews off with, ‘I really wanted to like it but…’ Well, I kind of straight up didn’t want to like this place. Something about the name really digs at me. But I came anyway and the pizza was unreasonably good. Too legit, if I do say so myself. Inside is all communal seating… everyone’s personal hell. But it is a great place to come with a group of 6 – 8 because then you won’t have to share a table with one of the families who brought their screaming children along to bang plates, cry, and mash chalk on their giant chalkboard wall. When we got here that description could be applied to every table in the joint… so apparently it’s family friendly if you’re into that sort of thing. I’m not. But that pizza was sooo good. Thin crust, artisan toppings great combos, and they aren’t jerk about adding our substituting stuff on their already put together pizza combos– in fact, it seemed pretty encouraged. They have a small but varied selection of beer and wine on tap and a few bottle offering as well. You’ll notice salt, pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, and Calabrian hot chili pepper oil on all the tables. If you like spicy, def dig into the Calabrian pot– I sauced up my already perfect pizza with it and it was some next level sh*t. I got the upgraded margherita pizza and also added kalamata olives and like I said before, it was perfect. Our service was super chill and the vibe is super casual to the point where you might not be sure if you just order at the counter of if this is the sit down and get a menu type place(it’s the latter). Despite my initial and inexplicable dislike of the restaurant name, my pizza was incredible and I can’t wait to find myself back here again.

Goood pizza HORRIBLE service. Cool atmosphere & great beer & wine selection! We had to wait a little hit in a week night, no biggie. What is a biggie is when you take over 15 mins to bring out drinks & we have to ask a 2nd time. No doubt in our mind, our sever was stoned… Fine, but do it in your own time & do t forget our beers… Sorry dude! Our table ordered the kale salad which was decent & we order 4 pizzas. We only got 3 :(when we inquired a long time after we had placed the order we were told that is was made but they could never find the ticket so they gave it away! :(:(:( The pizzas we did get were thin crust & wonderfully crispy. If you’re pretty hungry you can probably finish the whole pizza & be quite full. For dessert they have Mitchell’s ice cream! We didn’t order that… Not sure if we would have gotten it anyway :/ My husband & I have also ordered take out from them. It came in a reasonable amount of time & order was accurate! The crust was just not as great as in the restaurant(obviously) but we actually got everything we ordered… Hmm

Great variety of draft beer offerings(concise but robust enough to cater to most) Redhen Saison is a winner! Pitchers of beer are offered A great assortment of pizzas Caesar salad croutons were hard as rocks(they thankfully comped it when we gave them feedback) Reasonably priced for a whole pie Crust had a great flavor and crisp throughout Toppings were fresh and stood out Tomato sauce was lush, vibrant and flavorful Overall Thoughts Delicious place to grab a slice with friends

After having what is arguably the best pizza in the world in Italy, I pretty much stayed away from any and all pizza once I came back home. If that makes me a pizza snob, so be it. With that said, I’d been eyeing PizzaHacker for awhile and it seemed like it was worth a try. My family and I arrived during prime-time on a Friday night and after adding my name on the chalkboard, we waited about 15 – 20 minutes for a table to open up. PizzaHacker is all about the communal tables and casual dining all while offering fresh and organic pizzas and salads — my kinda place. We shared a «top shelf» margherita pizza($ 15) and a medium kale caesar salad($ 8), which were more than enough for 3 people although I think we could’ve had another pizza. The pizza was beyond better than what I expected. It was so similar to my beloved pizza in Florence and I wanted it all to myself. What I loved most about it was the sauce — it was fresh and just a little sweet. If you can’t make a great margherita pizza, then something is wrong; PizzaHacker’s is just right. While I loved the pizza, the real show-stopper was the kale caesar salad. I need to eat this every day. Do not skip out on ordering this salad! I know that PizzaHacker has been in Bernal Heights for awhile now but it is honestly a welcome addition to the neighborhood, more so now because the pizza place I’ve been going to for years has decided to stop delivering to this part of the city. PizzaHacker, looks like you’re my new go-to ;)

Bomb dot com, yo. Some of the best pizza I’ve had in the city. The Short Bridge is my new favorite pizza: Fra’mani Sopressata, House-made Italian Sausage, Mushrooms, Bianco/DiNapoli Tomato sauce, Fresh House-Stretched Mozz, Dried Oregano, & Grana Padano. It is f’in exquisite. I had the leftover slices for days and they seemed to just get better. My friend had the Margherita and he was quite satisfied. Can’t wait to return and just hope they don’t get too busy because this place is legit!

This place is kind of out of the way for lots of people so I’m so glad that postmates exists. I love to get food delivered when I’m lazy and don’t want to leave my apartment. Pizzahacker is one of those places that suggests using postmates which is kind of cool(offer it for less delivery cost please!). When I got the pizza(top shelf marg), it was already a little cold which made me sad, but I should have put it into the oven to warm it up a bit, but it was good regardless. I definitely had it a couple days later and it was good. The margarita pizza was traditional and definitely so good. I also got the intermezzo salad(which was supposed to be similar to the salad from this great place in Berkeley). It wasn’t the same salad since there wasn’t as much of it, but it was pretty similar. The items were very similar, but I wished for more toppings since that’s what I remembered from those salads. Overall, get the pizza and get the salad and you won’t really regret it. Protip: the pizza is good. Definitely get the pizza.

One of my favorite food groups with a twist. We started our dinner with the Intermezzo salad. The salad contained large leafy greens and a strong poppyseed dressing. I liked the idea of little gems and farm eggs but those were hard to find. Next we had the Crowd Pleaser which I was really excited about because of the prosciutto! When the pizza finally came, there was only prosciutto on one half of the pizza… We were slightly confused. After telling the waitress, they kindly put more prosciutto on the other half of the round! whoot! But sadly that was the only good part of the pizza. The bottom was mildly burnt and the greens made the entire bite taste completely bitter. Maybe we should’ve said something? But I assumed this is what the crowd is asking for. Can’t complain about what we are being pleased with! Lastly we had the Heavy Nettle. I just wanted the lamb meatballs and the stracciatella(since I thought that it only came in an ice cream form). This time, the pizza was baked perfectly and the meatballs and other ingredients were a beautiful compliment to the thinly baked dough. I was super happy with this one. PizzaHacker are for the right minded people that are evolving from the ordinary combo pizza.

Top Shelf Margherita (Dry-Farmed Early Girl Tomato Sauce, Fresh House Stretched Mozzarella, Basil(only 20/day). Pretty good. The crust is pretty buttery and has a nice touch of salt. The tomato sauce is pretty tasty and the pizza is pretty creamy/cheesy. Pizza Puttanesca Tomato Sauce, Garlic, Calabrian Chili Paste, Kalamata Olives, Capers, Local SF Anchovies As with any pizza with olives, capers, and anchovies, it is salty. I like the spiciness of due to the chili paste but overall, it was too salty.
