Recently got catering for a Graduation party. I have always loved the chicken; it has great flavor and is always juicy. If you are interested in catering: 50 pieces $ 85. They also have 100 piece and 200 piece packages. You can mix and match with grilled chicken and fried chicken to appeal to everyones palette.

The food is amazing. Everytime I’m in SF, Pollo campero is a must! The staff is friendly, and the service is very quick. For being a restaurant on mission street, it’s very very clean. The bathrooms are clean and paper is always stocked. Thank you staff for making this a great experience.

The service is okay, the fried chicken was good, but the sides need help. I had the mash potatoes and they were bland. Not worth the hype. Basically a pollo loco

I was curious but not hungry so I ordered yucca fries to go. They were great, but I got 5 pieces of yucca. They came with a catchup/mayonnaise sauce. I checked out their menu, and I was a little disappointed when I read the menu– a little Mexican, a little Peruvian, a little fried chicken, but nothing very authentic looking. However, the staff was friendly and the restaurant seemed clean.

The food was good. I order the chicken breast and it was cook just right. The staff were nice and welcoming. Our waiting was funny which I think makes for a enjoyable evening. The restaurant was clean. Tables were wipe down and although some trash around my table it wasn’t enough to make me leave. All in all I give this place a rating of 4 stars.

Horrible service. Ordered takeout and it took 40 minutes. Staff is unhappy, standing around on phones, and talking. Last time.

I wish there were more chicken restaurants like this one, they really know how to do things right. First off, I like that this place has a security guard that kicks out homeless people as soon as they enter, there isn’t anything that I hate more than being hassled by bums while I’m eating with my family. Secondly, the dining area and restrooms are always very clean, I spent about an hour here and saw at least 3 different employees tidying up during my visit; just the way it should be. Thirdly, and probably the most important thing about this place is the quality, everything from the quality of food to the customer service to the prices are spot on. I’d suggest something to try here, but everything is just so D*** good, it’s all freshly made and always has that flavor that will take you back to Central America :) Make this your go to chicken joint, you’ll be glad that you did

This place was decent — the food was good(but not great), the prices were very reasonable, and the service fairly efficient and friendly. Both the grilled and fried chicken are tasty — the grilled is tasty enough that I would just get that in the future to «save the calories.» The green salad was good — I liked the dressing. The fries and corn sides were just okay — nothing special. For a casual, sit down place — the service and prices were good($ 7.69 for a 3 piece meal with 2 sides). Overall, if you’re craving reasonably fast, cheap, tasty chicken, this is a good spot to go.

3.5 stars. Discovered this place while walking to another destination because it was packed & had a queue out the door. On our walk back, I had to stop & pick up take out because the queue was too long for dine in. Freshly fried chicken. Pieces are good sized, not from mini chickens like other fast food chicken joints. Tasty meat with a crunchy exterior. Plus they have yucca fries which I really like & prefer over French fries.

Why have I only seen this place in SF?! When I walked in and looked at the menu I thought this place was gonna be like KFC or El Pollo Loco but this place is way different. The seasoning on this chicken is so different from anything I have ever tried and their yuka fries were so good!

A bit pricey for Fried Chicken but this is not your usual KFC or Popeye chicken. I have been wanting some ever since when I first have a layover in El Salvador airport 5 years ago and the whole plane smelling like Fried Chicken. Fast forward to this year, I had a four hours layover at this airport but couldn’t find an easy way to get to the Fried Chicken place outside of the immigration. Luckily, I sat next to a nice lady who have a bucket of fried chicken that she is bringing back for her children in the States. She was nice enough to let me tried one. It was piping hot, crispy outside and so juicy inside. The spices was just right! Now comparing to this chicken that I ate on the plane, Pollo Campero here at Mission fall short of one star. I can’t really pin point on what’s missing but it is not as good as the one I had on the plane. But given how difficult it is to get the real stuff, I still give it four stars.

Since the Popeyes burned down, this is now the closest place for fried chicken, unfortunately, it cannot compare to the Popeyes on 24th. When you walk in, it feels like a restaurant, and it is, a sign tells you to wait to be seated. However, both times I’ve went, I had to wait 1 min for the servers to come and just pick a seat for me(something I could’ve done myself) The menu is simple if you just want a chicken meal, pick how many pieces and your two sides. Fried chicken: Juicy, flavorful, but small. For the price, I would assume much bigger pieces, but I guess it’s SF. Grilled Chicken: Also very juicy and flavorful, one of the best grilled chickens I’ve had in a long time, however, once again, the leg piece was very small. The breast piece also seemed to have a lot more bones than other breasts I’ve had. Coleslaw: Nothing special, think KFC coleslaw Mashed Potato: Very normal, a little better than KFC’s. Overall, for $ 15(3 piece, 2 sides, dinner roll/tortilla, drink, and tip) it’s not really worth a trip, but if you really wanted fried chicken and you’re in the mission, this is one of the most convenient places.

I feel I walked into a Popeye’s rather than a family restaurant. Just the slowest fast food joint around the Mission. Cannot expect to come here and eat and get back to work within an hour time. The chicken is definitely much better than anything you’d find in a fast-food place – the chicken is fried but not greasy, the mashed potatoes are warm, soft, with the right amount of gravy. The chicken is just the size of a chicken strip more than a drumstick. So with an order of 3 piece of chicken and 2 sides; most people will still be hungry.

Aun que mi experncia fue buena unas cosas que observe. No atiene al cliente con«Ya lo vamos atender sino lo ven a uno y eventualmente lo atiende. Un vagavundo entro se sento y no le dijieron nada. A mi me atendiron bien. La comida bien aun un poco cruda. Solamente vendre cuando tenga un deseo pero no mucho. I love the place, but a few concerns: 1. Slow service, the servers saw me walk in and no acknowledgement I was there. A different lady came from the back to sit me down and apologized. 2. The food was raw(see picture). I was given a 20% discount. 3. I saw a vagabond walk in sit down and no one said anything to him. 4. I will only come here to watch, from now on.

Refreshing fast food. Now that’s an oxymoron! It was an unusually hot warm night in San Francisco, so the boyfriend and I decided to take a walk to Pollo Campero to get some takeout to eat at the parklett on Valencia. I haven’t tried the fried chicken so I can’t attest to that, but the marinaded chicken thigh was quite flavorful and moist. The grilled corn and campero rice were well seasoned, and the fried plantains weren’t quite what I expected but it was still delicious as a side dish. I like my fried plantains really crispy on the outside and just slightly mushy on the inside, but the ones here were a little bit too soft for my liking. Also, the people who work here are extremely nice and polite, not something you usually find at a fast food chain!

So I’ve had chicken from this place in the last few years… and it was always good, and secondhand from my colleague. But I finally stepped inside this joint for dinner! Food = delicious. We ended up with three entrees: 1) Fried chicken(3 pieces-drumstick, thigh and breast-very moist and flavorful chicken, piping hot!), campero rice(fluffy medley rice), french fries(crisp); 2) Spicy chicken empanadas(3) with green salad(he loved the empanadas, and I felt that they were missing heat); 3) Fried chicken with campero rice and campero beans(It’s not mushy, full of flavor and has a slight kick.) If you’re not in the mood for fried chicken, they also have grilled chicken! They have a wide selection of sides, but ask if you have questions.(They need more descriptions for their sides.) Prices = moderate. It was $ 32.90 for all of the above, plus two soft drinks. Service = friendly. Attentive. They have two separate entrances – dining in or take-out. Either works but it’s a bit confusing. This place is very clean, modern, warm, and open. This place looks new, because it only opened in December 2012, and they’ve maintained it. It is part of a chain but there’s only one in SF, and only 4 in the State of California. Enjoy!

Overall very poor service. Over priced for fried chicken. I came here for the first time a couple weeks ago, I’m from Central America and decided to try this place out. We ordered the 20piece w/two side(pinto beans & coleslaw). The beans tasted nasty, they were brought out cold, had a sweet taste and seem canned. Coleslaw was just awful– watery! I also order a side of Yucca, which was ok but taste more like potato. Finally, chicken flavor taste old and re-fried. Our bill came out to more than $ 60.00 Definitely would not come here again!

Chicken is ok. Ordering for pick up is a waste of time. They asked me how long will take me to get there, I don’t know why! I arrived a couple minutes later than I estimated, and I had to wait another 15 minutes. Do they know how hard and expensive parking is in SF? Never trust this people when ordering ahead!

Pollo Campero feels like a chain. Is it a chain? I think it’s a chain. Anyway, the chicken here is ever so slightly more exotic than the Popeye’s down the street. Plantains and beans are good and sweet/savory, but the chicken tenders were heavily breaded and honestly a little dry. It’s also a little pricy for what is essentially a fast food restaurant — the sit-down nature isn’t fooling anyone. Overall solid food, but nothing fancy.
