I don’t understand why this location has very bad reviews. I came in this week with 11 adults and 94 students where we had our own private room. I can honestly say we had some of the best service. Dana I think was her name was very awesome. She greeted us all with kindness and was such a sweetheart to each of the students. Her staff was awesome and we’re very patient with a large group like ours. We had some pizza, pasta and salad which all came out in a very timely manner and was good. Rainforest Café definitely met all our needs and the students all had fun. Thank You :)

First time visiting this afternoon, with my two daughters ages 6 years and 1.5 they absolutely loved it! We sat on the second floor. We were seated in the area you first walk in to. I think the seating could have been better but made the most of it and told me daughter I’m sure we’d get to sit somewhere different next time. We took a walk to the bathroom and enjoyed all the animals. :) It was neat when they had the«Thunder storms» and the animals came to life. My daughter did the Mac n cheese and French fries ;) super healthy lol! It was about $ 8.00 and included a drink. I did the Journey meal which was a salad and clam chowder bowl, it was a large portion and the food was well presented. Our waiter was friendly and made the experience fun for the kids, our meal was served in about 10 – 15 minutes which is pretty good for 12:30 on a Saturday! I will note that there were no fish in the fish tank though.

In stark contrast to the negative reviews this restaurant has received on Unilocal,I will give praise and compliment the Rainforest Café for a superb dining experience. My sister got engaged and the two families visited this location for a congratulatory meal. I ordered the Taste of the Islands, which had Caribbean coconut shrimp, scallops and shrimp, and tilapia. It was great, and everyone else’s food looked terrific as well. The atmosphere was very inviting and our server, Jim, was very enthusiastic and extremely helpful. Overall, this was a very worthwhile visit and I enjoyed it.

SAVEYOURMONEYSERIOUSLY!!! This place had terrible service, food came out cold. They didn’t even bring our 4 year olds food, who was very cranky from being hungry! Manager is an idiot and cannot lead this restaurant! There was a group of about 10 pissed customers at the booth when we left complaining about a server chasing them down because they didn’t tip, saying he doesn’t work for free! Well no one tips for terrible service idiot!

This one’s for my kids… When we ran out of time to visit the Bay Aquarium, we thought we’d bring the kids to the Rainforest Café, where at least they could enjoy the huge, beautiful fish tanks… not so this time! The live fish were actually removed from the tanks, replaced by… you guessed it… cheesy POSTERS of fish — just saying that sickens me more than the sight of a flaccid fish stick. How patronizing. Damn you RFCafe! This nautical nonsense is NOT something I wish! At the time, I didn’t want to belabor the point, but my 6-year old took notice and asked the server«what did you do with the fishies? Maybe you caught them and cooked them»,(shrug, sorry man, tough gig)…all the while our plates were gently pushed forward for the remainder of the evening. Yeaaah, no to-go box this time, thaaanks. Our server didn’t know why they removed the fish either, but I’m sure the poor creatures just weren’t quite enough of a profit center for good ol’ Landry’s, Inc. — the parent company of Rainforest. I wonder what the execs at Landry’s did with the fish? I hope all those good, hard working stiffs got some sweeeet severance packages. And what about their aquatic job outplacement services after this massive corporate«filet-off»? Buh-bam!!- oh yea! Will the poor bastards all be consigned at a local tropical fish store, or per HR’s suggestions, just be chummed into the menu as another Tuesday night mystery special? Wait… maybe we just ate them at Yank Sing… I’ve never had any IDEA what’s in those delicious dumplings of theirs! Of COURSE, the prices remain very expensive. And, the food is… well…crap, but perhaps I should reiterate — it’s the RAINFORESTCAFE. To whom it may concern at Landry’s Inc. that made the decision to remove the one actual real thing(aside from the humans) at your restaurants: go live in a pineapple under the sea… wow, that’s bad but my 6&7 liked it. I’m probably wrong, but we may have just witnessed the beginning of deforestation. But you know… the good kind. RF Café is sooooo romantic and classy, don’t even approach this restaurant unless you have a red velvet smoking jacket and necktie.

Fake fish tanks that smell like pool chlorine, plastic trees, fake everything everywhere. I will grant that the place is huge, and the food was clean, but there’s no value here for the money. As someone with a real interest in biology, the experience is depressing — a fake plastic cartoon jungle. I don’t need to go back.

Thought this place would be good, boy was I wrong. Service was ok, except when asked for«no fried onions» in the wrap, the waiter said«oh, they’re grilled, not fried.» I’ll let you guess what kind of onions came inside the wrap. We started with the Tuna poke, absolutely flavorless. I’m too ashamed to even call it a poke, no seasoning, no lime, no sesame oil. The tuna tasted like it’s been in the fridge too long. Round 2 we got the beef nachos and a chicken wrap. The nachos looked like the beef had been sitting in the fridge for days, hard and tasteless. The tortilla chips were extremely stale. The chicken wrap was pretty bland and inedible. The BBQ sauce that’s supposed to come with it smelled like a sweaty armpit and tasted horrendous. We wanted seasonal vegetables on the side, who knew we’d get a plate full of carrots practically swimming in butter. I feel like I got robbed for the amount of money spent. Atmosphere is cool, given the whole rainforest theme, but definitely more for kids. Will never come back again.

I haven’t been to a Rainforest Café in years! From what I can remember, it was a great place to go with kids, and the food was pretty good. My boyfriend and I decided to come here to celebrate his son’s birthday. Pros: Timely service and friendly waiter that’s it! Cons: Hostess was incredibly rude and nasty. I ordered the Caribbean Coconut Fried Shrimp, they never brought me my coleslaw… and they gave me the wrong sauces! My coconut shrimp came out with tartar sauce and cocktails sauce… seriously??? They charge you for a mediocre«happy birthday cupcake.» Price is high, and the menu is very limited. Food was alright, nothing special, won’t be coming back.

Overall, the service is sub par. We ordered the awesome appetizer, and it never came. Talked to the waiter, and he said the kitchen forgot to make it. The order was entered, but they never made it. When our entries came, I asked the waiter to cancel the appetizer, as we had our food. Later, the manager stopped by and said he heard there was a problem, and he would send the appetizer out, but it still never came. The drink orders were overall fairly timely, and the food itself was decent. Overpriced, but everything is high here by the wharf, anyway. The kids enjoyed the food and the atmosphere, so of you don’t mind the sun standard service, its probably OK.

The service was horrible, the food was ok!!! I told my waiter our Tilapia was cold, he said I’m sorry about that and that was it. I asked if we could get a happy birthday for my daughter the lady said I’ll tell your waiter and that was the end of that. This was a 200.00 dinner, for that I expect more. Subway here we come!!!

Had dinner here last night. The food was delicious, and I love the atmosphere. Our waitress however was not very good. She was not attentive at all, we had to wait quite a while for refills, weren’t offered condiments for our fries. We had to ask another waiter for a refill of rootbeer for my son, because our waitress couldnt be found. That rootbeer never came. Our waitress brought us the check, I mentioned asking for the root beer quite a while ago, she said«oh let me get that, and add it to your bill, it was never added» for our inconvenience we should have gotten the 4 buck root beer free! Our bill was already $ 180.00 …We didnt even get an apology for having to wait so long after having to ask for a refill! We had to wave down other waiters to ask for ketchup too. Also, I feel they are a bit pricey. The food did taste very good though, and was cooked to perfection.

I should have known better, as a SF native, to trust any Fishermans Wharf eating establishment. But my son and I decided to be tourist on a Saturday and head over to Pier 39 for some arcade fun. Grabbed the bus, ended up at Ghirardelli, heading east. Son was hungry and In — N-Out was packed. Started to rain hard and ducked into Rainforest Café. We were here. Let’s eat. Was given a table and nobody approach the table for 30 minutes. Finally a very nice gentleman, named Oscar took our order: Mini burgers and Fish and chips. The food took 50 minutes to get to the table, the place was maybe a third full. The fish in the fish and chips were 4 long 1 inch tubes from some strange fish I never heard from. It was awful. Oscar noticed my distaste for the dish and did not charge me for it. Sometimes you should just know better!

Horrible, awful, inedible food… yuck. The service was just ok. It took about 10 minutes after we got sat, before our server came to the table. The main reason for coming here is for the experience and we thought our 3yr old would love it, but we got sat in the back. This would have been fine if the restaurant was busy and full, but there were a lot of open tables. I won’t be back!

As a kid I used to love coming to Rainforest Café. If you do plan on going, please don’t go for the food! It’s awful! It’s frozen, pre made and microwaved. I don’t think I’ve had food that was worse then this! If you plan on going, go for the«experience» Grab a drink at the bar and go shopping at the shop.

Some family friends and I today went here for lunch. — Fun atmosphere and decorations — Nice gift shop with cute stuffed animals and soveneirs! — The tree girl(Which thank God was out of order) scared the shit out of me — A bit noisy, but nothing too bad for me to handle — Service was good, not great or bad but good — Food was OK, nothing special — Has a lack of vegetarian menu items(My friend is a vegetarian, and there was only a few items she could choose from) — The beans with the rice and chicken my friend’s grandparent’s ordered were spicy, and they didn’t enjoy that(They are not used to eating spicy foods, since they are from a different part of the world) — Our meals were quite expensive! Overall, I would rather come here for the experience rather than the food, but overall it was nice and I would be willing to come here again. This place is very well done, and any family and/or group of friends would like to come here. I don’t know why this place has less than 3 stars, it deserves more.

Families stay away! We had a reservation at 5:30 pm. Our waiter hadn’t even stopped by the table so after twenty minutes, we had to get the hostess to find him. Then he brought the kids food, but not ours. At 7:00, ninety minutes after we had been seated, we finally just asked for the bill and left since our food STILLHADNOTARRIVED!!! This place is a complete madhouse and the service is beyond terrible. Avoid at all costs. Too bad because we have always enjoyed the one in downtown Disney. But this place is a disgrace.

Great bizarre looking café. A friend told me to check it out. Ended up going to Bubba Gymp the night before amd was very dissapointed with the food but loced the gift shop .went rainforest café today for lunch and wasn’t sure what to expect. Loved the front entrance to the place, wasn’t sure that i had the right at first. Gift shop looked crazy and had so much to choose. Had a garlic and cheese bread with marinara dippibg sauce which tasted Amazing, then got the trio combo, which was Ribs, coconut shrimp and a 150gm steak with chips. Was tasty and the ribs were fall of the bone . each level was like being in a rainforest with moving animals and animal sounds, really fun layout !! Would go back here again especially over bubba gump. Could even go Bubba Gump for the gift shop and then rainforst café for the food lol !!

Came here the other day with friends. The ambiance was kind of fun, it was loud though. I can see how this would be a really fun place to take smaller children. I got the steak and shrimp combo(one of my friends did too). Steak was a little overlooked but the shrimp was good. The mashed potatoes(which came as a side with the steak) were really good as were the French fries. My hubs got the clam«chowder in the bread bowl, he loved it. My other buddy got the Taste of the Islands. He liked it as well. Overall, good food, although it took a while to get seated and to get drinks. I think they might have been low on waitstaff because there were plenty of open tables.

Even living in SF I rarely go down to Fisherman’s Wharf, especially to eat.(With the exception of Scoma’s) It is all touristy over-prices and under quality CRAP., Most business are a joke and wouldn’t survive two weeks without tourists. I was invited to a birthday dinner to this establishment and was reluctant to except but I figured I’d set my expectations to zero and make the most of it. I must like this friend. From the moment of entry to our escape, 3 hours later. I was in awe of the cheesiness of this hell hole. You walk in to a gift shop to get through to you the dining area. There are strollers double parked everywhere and you get the vibe of a Chuck E. Cheese Pizza Parlor(I never actually been to one but I heard this comment from 2 different people in our party). We were early for our reservation so as the party of 10 or so trickled in we gathered at the bar. My partner requested 2 dirty martini’s to which he got a response from the bartender, «No, because you won’t like them». He asked again and was blatantly refused. So he says, «Fine, give me 2 martini’s with extra olives», after about a 20min wait, the bartender slaps down two martinis glasses on the bar, splashing some of the already short martini out of the glass with NO olives. Then proceeded to slap a rocker glass have full of olives on to the bar. We had to add them ourselves. Needless to say, we closed our tab and left without a tip. This left us standing in the middle of the restaurant among tables, screaming kids, and just plain craziness. Our table was not ready for 20 minutes past our reservation. Food was as expected small, poor quality and over priced. We got the«RIBS, STEAK&SHRIMPTRIO» for the price we thought it be a platter for 2 to split put it was just a few ounces of rubber like substance slapped on a plate. Next time I will have to stick to my intincts and decline the situation

This is a great family spot. It was on a shopping strip and it was really setup perfectly for tourist. The food was pretty generic but very pricey. I did like the drinks. This is definitely a place you bring kids, because they have random moments of craziness with the animals that make the kids go wild. It was nice going there once I suppose to say you’ve been, but it’s too expensive to just be going for a dinner.

Even though this Rainforest Café no longer has fish aquariums due to a recent leak, my boyfriend and I still love coming here. We came recently to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. My boyfriend asked for a table near one of their elaborate aquariums like we always do. That is when we found out they longer have tropical fish. Anyhow, we shared a huge plate of shrimp, fish and scallops. It was very tasty. As we ate, the table mysteriously kept on getting wet and we realized that there was a hole on the bottom of the water glass. My boyfriend’s shirt got wet and almost lost his rewards card on the ground. The manager was very nice and understanding. He gave us a delicious dessert to share as his staff sang happy birthday to my boyfriend. In spite of the fact this restaurant no longer has fish aquariums and my boyfriend’s bad luck with getting a broken water glass, I would have to say the experience there was still wonderful. But we both truly miss watching the fish while we ate our dinner. Pros: –tasty unique food –overall fun atmosphere –conveniently located in Fisherman’s Wharf –great group of staff –has a rewards program –fun gift shop –special discounts on your birthday Cons: –entrees can be pricey –no more tropical fish aquariums –upon about every 30 min. the animotronic animal figures get noisy– that can get annoying –most clothing items in the gift shop just go up to size 2x and they are a very snug 2x — esp. the cotton t-shirts that may shrink when washed –no happy hours or daily specials

First time here, the food was yummy and the overall experience was great. I liked how there is a gift shop and bar downstairs, you can shop and wait while your table gets called. I was a bit apprehensive when I saw the Unilocal reviews and heard some chick say«hey everyone we wasted our time here, don’t even bother», most people I’m sure would bolt. But the whole rainforest atmosphere made me stay and that my younger sisters and brother(aged 11, 6 and 5) were having a blast in the gift shop and were excited to eat there. Loved the whole rainforest theme, they have thunderstorms every hour(just sounds of thunder) and when dining every 30min the animatronic animals would sound(lion roaring and elephant trumpeting). Also in the dining area it seemed to be a bit humid and warm. The appetizer was filling and really yummy, we had an app with pretty much everything like a sampler of some sort. We ended up buying the drinks with souvenir cups because they look so darn cute. Our main entrees were good, our server was friendly and attentive even the runner that brought our appetizer out was super friendly and energetic, which surprised us since it was on Father’s Day that we went. The kids loved the food and the overall experience and so did the adults(6 people total on our party, 3 kids 3 adults). I would definitely recommend this place to people who don’t mind the noise and have kids. I have no complaints what so ever. My only complaint is that the food and drinks are a bit overpriced(we spent $ 250 for a party of 6, when at other places it’s usually only $ 150 at most). But you pay for the ambiance. Also my sisters and brother were disappointed that the balloon lady never stopped by our table, she kept skipping us.

Great atmosphere and good for the family. I had a party for 11 and they said it would take 90 minutes. We shopped and thoughts about leaving. Then we went to sit in the downstairs area to eat because there’s no wait. Just as we were sitting they called us. We only waited about 20 minutes for a table. Idk where the hostess got 90minutes from. We were seated and our orders were taken very fast. The food came out quickly as well. My wife loves seafood so she got food from across the street and ate it in the restaurant. They waiter was nice and said it didn’t bother him if they ate it(I’m sure a party of 11 helped pursued him). All-in-all it was about a 90 minute deal from start to finish. We could have stayed longer but we had to get our car from the parking lot. So we rushed out. I’ve been there twice and the kids love it in there.

I’ll forgive the high prices, because rent’s gotta be steep near Fisherman’s Wharf, and the layout is quite elaborate. The food is three stars. But the loud noise(thunderstorms and animal noises) was so fucking annoying… I would be loathe to return unless there was some occasion I couldn’t get out of. That said, it is good for groups. Our large girl scout troop took the ferry over and had lunch here. The service was good, and the girls had fun. And the group room was a bit quieter than where Mr. M and I sat.

I want to emphasize that this review is for the location near Pier 39 only! That being said AVOID this Rainforest Café. The ONLY reason I give one star is because the food does taste good. 1) I hate waiting thirty minutes for a table, and the restaurant is only half full. 2) Food was delivered to our table. We were the wrong table. 2) Two of the five people in our party ordered clam chowder in a bread bowl. Two other orders were kids meals. One of the bread bowls arrived. We had to wait what felt like several a good five minutes for the rest of the food to be served. Personally I feel like the kid’s meals should have arrived first. 3) Two of us ordered side orders. When the entrées were delivered, the side orders didn’t arrive. I mention this to our server. Only to have just one of the two side orders delivered. Had to remind our server a second time for the second side order. 4) Three times I asked for a refill of my soda. We did complain to management. He apologized and explained that there are few new food runners on staff. As we were leaving I noticed the same manager sorting out menus. Sir, instead of sorting menus, you can help out your new food servers. Sounds to me like they need more training. Or is it the management that needs more training? By the way, I’m still waiting for my refill.
