bought two recliners three years ago, we love our super comfortable recliners they’re worth every penny still look as we just got them.
it’s very unusual in these days to see the same people in a retail store after three years.
we took advantage of the new year sale and bought a gorgeous floor lamp.

I recently had the good fortune of buying my first house and decided to go to Roche to begin the new furniture journey. Hannah immediately greeted me with a warm smile and began to ask about what I was looking for, what style was I trying to achieve, what my space looked like. She patiently walked me around the store, showing me a number of pieces and giving recommendations about ways to pair different pieces, colors — she was able to show some really interesting combinations that I would not have thought of on my own. After I had found a few things of interest, she helped build a 3D cad of the interior of my living room and it really helped visualize how the pieces could all come together. Great experience, very professional and knowledgable about the details. Hannah is the best!

Great after-​sale support of a sofa. The zipper was broken and Brady went above and beyond to ensure that we were satisfied, arranging the pickup, repair and re-​delivery on our schedule. The delivery guys were professional and clean. 5 stars.

I have been buying from RB for many years and I have been extremely happy with their service. Brady has been the person helping me always and has been extremely professional and helpful.
As for their delivery team, they are exceptional. Honestly, I have never seen a delivery/​moving team as cautious and professional as them. I am always amazed. I have had to call back RB occasionally to either fix a chair or help me dismantle and put back together a bed… and they are always gracious and so helpful.
I only now decided to share my thoughts as my recent service with them was –again– so positive.
I am truly appreciative of Brady and can only recommend his salesmanship if you are looking for someone reliable at RB.

Three years ago, we bought a beautiful sofa from Roche-​Bobois. It still looks like the day it was delivered – fresh, sturdy and beautifully designed. Yesterday, we received a second lot of furniture that we ordered. The most amazing thing is that the easy chairs in the living room match the sofa – even though three years have passed! The fabric has not faded or deteriorated on the sofa. And, RB still carried the fabric.
Everything we have purchased from them is elegant, well-​made and beautifully designed. And, our dealings with them has been dream-​easy.. .that may be due to Brady’s diligence.. .Brady has even answered our emails on his days «off.» He is a pleasure to do business with.
Our orders have been correct, the furniture arrived in flawless condition and there has never been a flurry of phone calls – because the furniture arrived ahead of expected delivery date! When he wasn’t in the stores, his colleagues were helpful to us even though we established that we were Brady’s customers.
The delivery men were very professional. They came when scheduled. The worked carefully to bring in the furniture without damaging the door frames or the furniture. And, they were patient while we moved things (heavy things) a quarter of an inch this way and that.
All in all, I can’t recommend any furniture store more highly. A joy all the way round.

The furniture here is very weird looking, also all really low to the ground. They did not have what we were looking for.

We have been looking for a sofa for a long time. When we walked into this store and saw the sofa we immediately liked it and ordered it. We got it in time in the time period promised. We were told that they would do their own inspection and then deliver it to us with white glove service.
The delivery was great the look of the sofa was great from a distance. But the cushions were bumpy and the edges of the cushions were droopy. In a couple of places the seat cushions did not give proper support. Roche Bobois picked it up. They first added more filling to the cushions and asked us to come and check it out before they delivered it to us. They were only available on weekdays for us to do this so my husband drove out to the city during his lunch to check it out. He found that the cushions had been fixed but the support issue was still there. Apparently the repair person had added more stuffing to the cushions. For the support issue they sent the sofa to another repair shop. The guy could not find anything wrong so Hannah asked us if we could go over to the shop to show him our issue. Again the shop was only open on weekdays. This time however, they were nice enough to allow us to come on the weekend. We drove to Oakland to show the repair person the issue. The shop was dirty and our expensive sofa was sitting directly on the dirty floor. He apparently had been looking for lack of support on the edges but the issue was in the middle of the sofa. When we showed him the issue he understood our complaint.
The next week we were told that the sofa had been fixed and if we could please again go and check it before they deliver it to us. My husband wanted to find out what was fixed. The repair person told us that he had opened up the sofa and found that the support straps were loose so he tightened them. These for us were basic issues that should have been done right at the factory or caught in their own inspection. At this point, since the sofa had been pretty much opened up and fixed outside of the factory, we did not want it any more. For the money we paid for this and buying it from such a high end store we expected a lot more. So we asked for a refund. That week Hannah said she was going on vacation so we did not hear back for a week. When Hannah came back she told us the manager would follow up with us early the following week. We again did not hear back for a week so I followed up the week after and was told that the manager was out of town and would return the next week and after talking to him we would get our refund.
So three weeks after our request for a refund we got a rude email back telling us that since we continue to find issues with their best selling sofa which are very minor and have been fixed, Roche Bobois and we had irreconcilable differences and it was not the right brand for us. So they are going to take the sofa back and give us a refund.
This I feel was very unprofessional of them.

I wrote a really negative review a few months ago, and I don’t know if the review made a difference, but in the months since, Roche Bobois, specifically the store’s new manager, Mauricio, has come through. He made the decision to REPLACE our broken sofa, not continue to try to repair it. I am unbelievably impressed with Mauricio: professional, responsive, kind, fair. Most of the negative reviews I’ve seen here have to do with customer service. I have a feeling that, with Mauricio now running things, San Francisco Roche Bobois customers are going to be much, much happier.
In my previous review I vowed to never purchase from Roche Bobois again. Will have to go back on that promise :-)

Fabulous staff, fabulous pieces of ART (some call it furniture) — all around inspiring showroom… this place is ga-​ga-​gorgeous!

We have been customers of Roche Bobois for several years. The quality of the RB product is top notch and it makes it worth the lead-​time inherent to semi custom furniture.
The sales team is very cordial, especially considering that we visited the store multiple times before making a new purchase. Joe in particular, provides outstanding communication and service. He goes out of his way to ensure we are aware of the details of the design as well as the features and benefits of specific pieces. He manages all aspects of the showroom especially well and makes the overall experience very positive.
We will continue to go to RB when we need a new piece of furniture.

I’m a big fan of the Roche Bobois style and design. Its modern and sleek. But most consumers buy on emotion (I like it cause it’ll make me look good) and justify with reason (well, its the best damn thing out there according to Consumer Reports). My experience: Roche Bobois gives plenty of ammunition to justify both styles of purchasing.
First, the emotional side: its nice stuff. This is a personal thing so you agree or disagree. Not much room for middle ground. I’ve even been to their mother ship storeroom in Paris and would have loved to taken it all home.
Next, the reason side. Here are my factors that make for a good experience and how Roche stacked up:
–Product quality: Its really good stuff. We bought stuff at Design Within Reach and had to return $ 13K worth of stuff. It just wasn’t made right. In our experience, Roche doesn’t mess around. (To date, nothing has broken down and some reviews complain about that – I don’t have any experience with that yet.). To date, we bought a couch, two swivel chairs, dining room table and bookshelf.
–Customer service: My rep, Hannah, was helpful with design concepts and order fulfillment. I was never pressured. In fact, when I placed an order and had to go on a trip, they were quite kind and flexible even though I was hard to reach.
–Delivery to my house: They said they’d be there between 11 – 1 on a Thursday. They got here 11:15 and were done within 20 minutes. Full assembly. I was a concall during the delivery and I could leave them alone to get their stuff done.
I have them five stars, but should be 4.5. My only gripe: There is a six month delivery lead time. Unless you buy right out of the store, that’s how it goes. That’s frustrating and I do wish they’d work on that aspect.
At the end of the day, you have to ask: does you house look nicer and feel welcoming? Ours does. Was it painful to make it happen? Aside from the six month wait, we have no issues.

Beautiful furniture, but be aware of the long lead time. It takes up to 6 months. Bad experience with a sales man name Brady. Just call him
Shady Brady. He pressures you to buy now! I’ll give you a discount today blah blah blah. I’m sorry but I need more than 10 minutes to decide if I want to purchase a 15k sofa. Ask for anyone else, don’t shop with him.

Big Picture: Roche Bobois makes beautifully designed furniture built to last. These are investment pieces (although they do have occasional sales). I recently purchased my second RB sofa. The first was purchased 12 years ago. I will continue to return to RB whenever I’m in the market for furniture and will continue to refer my architectural clients there.
Details: Why 4 stars instead of 5? Because of the challenge with the sofa I recently purchased. While the issue was ultimately addressed, it took patience. Fortunately, Brady at RB was pleasant and professional throughout, ensuring the problem was addressed to my satisfaction. José, on the RB delivery end, was also pleasant and professional each time he came to my home.
I chose a custom fabric in a color and texture that works well with the design of my home. While I was assured the fabric would be durable and cleanable, that quickly came into question.
As expected, the sofa arrived 6 months after ordering. The RB recommended fabric protectant company arrived shortly thereafter to apply protectant to the fabric. Large, light colored splotches appeared upon application of the protectant. The technician was quick to lay blame and point fingers, saying the fabric was very delicate and if he would have read the label, they would not have touched it. His sales rep did the same.
I just wanted the issue addressed, and Brady at RB did so, ordering replacement cushions. Unfortunately, when the cushions arrived, the zippers did not align. Again, Brady took care of it. Problems solved, and I am enjoying my beautiful, and comfortable, sofa.
Lesson Learned: When selecting custom fabric, order a large swatch and send it to your trusted upholstery protection and cleaning service for testing, to ensure a long-​term maintenance plan, before finalizing the furniture order.

We needed a new adaptor for our Roche Bobois couch, which we purchased from your store about 4 years ago. Hannah was our salesperson, so I contacted her to see about getting a replacement. It has taken about 3 months; but because of Hannah’s persistence with Roche Bobois, we will finally get a new one this week. The adaptor is an integral part of our couch as it does not recline without it and therefore very important that we have it.
She has been more than helpful and I wanted to let you both know how valuable she is to your sales team and what a great experience we have had with her.

My sofa was stolen! Thankfully Hannah is still working there and has been very helpful providing me with receipts and estimates for use in court.

Just do it. You know you want it.
This place is the opposite of the hard sell. No one is here to goad you into buying something, or chase you out of the store if you don’t. Walk around, sit on stuff. People check in on you once in a while, and when you are ready to talk more, find someone. Nothing here is rushed.
It’s a big space. One thing I really liked was the easy rapport professionals in the store had with each other. It helped me feel comfortable in this pristine museum like place. There is a counter with sweet and salty snacky things, to keep the adrenaline going and help you stay fully conscious after you nearly pass out from the prices.
Some of the stuff here is the most comfortable stuff you can slob out on, and other stuff is, ah, not so comfortable. But it looks really good!
All of those flyers the store puts in the New York Times have really done a job on me. I’ve been paging through those things for years (decades?).
It was hard going through the tent city of the homeless encampment a few blocks away. If you approach from the south, this is what you will go through. Why oh why are there furniture stores right next to SF’s tent city? Driving by like the biggest jerk in the world, looking at furniture like Marie Antoinette. Give to the food banks, be kind to your fellow man, and all the over privileged mofo’s may as well get their stuff from here because it really is that great.

Rocky start that was turned around into a fabulous customer experience +++ … and the person who made our day is Brady !
1) I agree with most comments that the initial customer engagement when you walk into the store isn’t always the best/​warmest. But you are the customer and can make it work/​be in control. When I didn’t like the less than enthusiastic attitude of a particular sales person, I told her that I won’t do business with her and why. She brought in another employee and from then on I had a pleasant and productive sales encounter. Yes, Brady made it work for me and my wife.
2) Fast forward 6 months later. The beautiful couch arrives in our home, but I realize that the pieces don’t fit together as perfectly as I would have wanted. There were some gaps between the cushions and the back side wasn’t flush between two sections. I took a few pics, sent them to Brady and asked him to check with the factory whether those tolerances are normal. Brady comes out to our house, inspects it himself and assures me he will talk to factory.
3) A week later, Brady calls. He and the factory want 100% customer satisfaction and a new couch is already on order. I should enjoy the one I have for now and use it as I please… now that is customer focus.
4) Another 3 months pass and today I received my brand new, perfectly fitting couch. Not only did it fit perfectly, Brady had also pre-​inspected and assembled it in their warehouse before shipping it to me. NOW THAT IS CUSTOMER FOCUS !!!
