This place did a terrible job cutting my 2 y/o sons hair. He did not cry or whine. It was all choppy with straight cuts in the front and an odd layered look in the back giving him a lopsided head. It was as if someone grabbed a pair of kids scissors and cut his hair. Perhaps there is a person who can cut kids hair there but it was not the older Asian lady wearing cheetah print.

I took my 5-year-old son here for his first haircut. His hair was almost to the middle of his back. In about 20 minutes my son received an amazing, stylish, short cut accompanied by laughs from both the stylist and my son. For 18 $ you really can’t beat this place for a kids hair cut.

Erica did an AMAZING job cutting my 13 month old son’s hair today!!! I was nervous because I didn’t want to lose the curls but I didn’t want him to look like a girl. She gave him the perfect haircut! Also, we dropped in early, no wait, quick and easy! Thank you, Erica!!!

$ 18. Rarely a wait. While I appreciate the free beer and hot towels at places like People’s Barber as the next guy, these ladies do the trick when you just need a hair cut.

It wasn’t busy on a Thursday afternoon so even though we were a walk in, we didn’t have to wait. Parking wasn’t hard, we got a spot right outside the shop. I thought for some reason this might be a kids only salon after reading Unilocal reviews, maybe because of the pricing but I think the $ 18 price is for all cuts. I brought my toddler in and was tempted to get a trim myself! She was quick and listened really well to how we wanted our son’s hair cut. I don’t think we were there longer than 15 – 20 minutes. His cut was short and neat which is great because his hair grows so fast. We were happy with it! I’d come back if we lived in the area.

There was one lady working on the weekday morning when I came in. She was very busy and she rushed through my cut. It ended up being the worst cut I’ve ever had, both in appearance and quality(chunks of my bangs didn’t get trimmed and came forward later), and I have very easy hair to cut: long and straight. I’m sure it’s an ok place, but beware if there’s a long wait.

First time going to S&E and I must say this was one of the best haircuts I’ve had. Quick and easy my wait time was ~10minutes. I explained what I was trying to grow out the top of my hair and she made it really easy. My haircut took about ~20minutes. Most definitely going back.

It’s hard to find a place in the city that delivers consistently good haircuts for a good price. I bike all the way from Russian Hill to come here and it’s definitely my go-to haircut spot. Highly recommended!

Took my toddler here to get his hair cut. My boy is 1.5 and has had a few bad experiences at other barbershops for kids. The woman who cut his hair was great — put him at ease and worked fast. She did a great job. I will definitely come back.

I hate to leave such a positive review as it might start to get busier but I have to give props where its due. I’ve been coming here for 2 years now and I love it. Great cut, great price. Granted i know what I like and want so i can direct and lead the cut. Very happy

Been going here for quite a while now. Staff is super friendly and the haircut is cheap for SF(~ $ 18). The wait times were pretty reasonable as well.

I have been going here for about a year. I have long hair, shoulder length. I usually get my hair cut by Melissa. She does a great job at a price that can not be beat. You really need to tip considering what this cut would cost elsewhere. Some times I call ahead but even if I don’t I usually wait 10 or 15 minutes.

Went for our 3rd haircut a couple months ago — this time with Erica — and again got a wonderful cut. My 2+ year old is totally a pro now with sitting still for his haircut(that rule about no/little screen time is out the door when he’s sitting in that chair!). Thanks so much, Erica! We are coming back tomorrow for our 4th haircut before we leave for vacation! :)

Eh… It was fine. I took my two boys in today to clean up their shaggy hair styles. She chopped off their hair after I explained that I just wanted trims. The boys weren’t too disappointed, and their hair will grow back quickly. Maybe a bit of a communication problem? The place was clean, I only had to wait for about 20 minutes as a walk-in, and the cuts were only $ 17 each. She was great with my typically wiggly 5 year old and the boys were thrilled at the offer of a full-size candy bar after the cut.

This is my spot to get my hair cut. After moving to SF it took me awhile to find«my» hair cut spot but finally did find it. She is great and the price is beyond reasonable.

I guess I should be writing this review on my actual barber but I can’t really do that on here. the first problem was that the world famous Erica wasn’t here the day I came in. This being the first time I’ve ever been to this shop to cut my hair, I didn’t think the rest of the talent would be so bad. For the past 3 years, I’ve been going to Kelly’s hair cut in north beach. Unfortunately, I found out she has retired at the end of 2013 and the search now starts to find another cheap and effective hair cut about once every 4 weeks. Well I found this place on my phone, close to my house, and figured what the hell, let’s give it a shot.(Famous last words). After a 45 min wait on a Sunday afternoon I finally took my seat in the last seat away from the door and the short haired lady prepared to cut my hair. I told her«number 2 on the sides and just clip the tips on top». Unfortunately, she did not believe I wanted my sides short. She put the #2 guard on her clippers(mind you the #2 was hand written so who knows if it’s legit) and then would pull the clippers away from my head on each brush through my hair. I was waiting for her to get closer and closer to my head, but nope. After 40 minutes in the chair I begged and pleaded to have her cut it shorter, heck even put on her #1 guard. But nope she still refused and said«that’s too short». Anyway, I still need a cheap cut next month(or maybe sooner since I couldn’t get the cut I wanted), so I will try and come when Erica is around, but otherwise the other folks cutting hair here really have no clue what they’re doing. Very disappointed.

This place is a great deal! I wasn’t expecting much for $ 17, but the lady did a great job with long layers. She was fast and checked both sides to make sure the length was even. Just a heads up — they are cash only! Updated 2÷25÷16: 3 years later, the price has gone up to $ 18 and they’re still the best deal around. Make an appointment by phone if you don’t want to wait in the evenings or on Saturday. I just cut off 12 inches of my hair here to donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths and love the new short style!

We were pretty sad to say goodbye to our old standby because of the price increase in kid’s cuts. Plus tip, $ 30 for a kid’s buzz cut is way out of our price range. We have two kids who have freakishly fast growing hair. At that price, we seriously considered raising long-haired hippies. And I hate hippies. I entered, «cheap» and«kid’s haircuts» into the search function on Unilocal and found S&E. We had been holding off for so long, our kid’s hair resembled the Caddyshack gopher, so we ran over after school. There were two people ahead of us, and one already in the chair. She gave us an estimate of 30 minutes, which was pretty accurate. Before long, my son was sitting on the booster seat and getting coiffed. Twenty minutes later, he was done. Erica gave him a stellar cut with four different electric razors and took time to really check her work, just like he was a grown-up customer. It was awesome. And it was $ 17. Sweeeeet.
