SoMa Pizza is a solid new takeaway greasy place. Little details like a tomatillo dipping sauce for the poppers, and a well-seasoned burger. An extra star for having adult hours in this weekend wasteland, even when the Giants fans are holed-up in the suburbs.

I got pizza delivered. It came within the time estimated. When there was an error with my order, they were super nice on the phone and helped resolve my issue very satisfactorily. This was a HUGE bonus in terms of making me want to order from them again, which I definitely will. The delivery guy was also very friendly & nice. I liked the ground beef topping a lot, the thin crust pizza was quite good, I liked all the toppings on the veggie combo, although that crust was thicker and not what I’m used to it was still very tasty overall. My party was very satisfied, give these guys a try!

My friend and I came to this pizza place for dinner after shopping for a few hours. Came in a couple weeks ago and tried the pizza. Shared a Soma special between friends and it was really good. Today I thought I’d try a burger! It was really good and juicy and the fries are awesome. My friend had a gourmet salad and it looked pretty good too.

Wassupers my fellow Unilocalers?! I gave this place 5 stars but really deserves 5 more. I heard of this spot from my neighbor. He claimed it was a «nice, clean spot» in the soma. I figured I’d try it out, I mean who doesn’t like pizza? I work close by(on 6th St) n stopped by a few days ago after work. My neighbor was right. This place is awesome. Not only was the food delicious, but the customer service was fantastic and the staff were super cool and very down to earth. I met one of the managers, Basil. He was very friendly and offered me a deep fried Oreo cookie. (New item) OFFTHEHOOK!!! They have a huge menu from pizza to wings, calamari, all kinds appetizers, burgers(I had one) and desserts. The place is newly remodeled and looks great. 2 huge flat screen tv’s, a real nice looking painting of the bay bridge and SF, Super clean with plenty of room to sit n eat or just stand there enjoying your slice while watching the Warriors. My new favorite place to eat in the city. A must go. Enjoy and like Bob Marley said: One Love. Peace.

Awesome spot for a quick bite or ordering in. Pizza was really good, and the other items on the menu looked delicious as well. Greek Salad was maybe the best salad I’ve ever gotten at a pizza place. Staff was very friendly. Will definitely be going back often.

The pizza was good, but I I have 3 other pizzerias in my neighborhood so I decided to try this one out because they had just opened up. I ordered my pizza and cheese sticks and told the guy I will be back in 20 minutes. When I come back in 20 minutes he acts like he never saw me and says that I never order the pizza start swearing at me and called me a liar. If you buy a pizza from these guys be sure to get a receipt otherwise they will treat you like garbage. Dear old man you need to find another line of work. I am sticking with goat Hill pizza down the street they treat you a lot nicer and don’t call you at thief

$ 7.99 for the lunch special. Two 1-topping slices and a fountain drink. The cashier was super friendly and explained I could order any number of toppings and he’d just give the lunch special discount, equivalent to $ 1.50 off. The toppings(sausage and mushroom) were good, but the crust is quite thick. If you’re familiar with the now closed SBC pizza on 3rd/Townsend then you’re familiar with this pizza. I can’t say I’d never eat it again because it’s a decent deal, but I’d likely try one of the burgers or other options before getting the pizza again.

Fries — 10⁄10 Burger — 3⁄10(use fresh meat, not frozen patties. Very little flavor — go visit Sams in North Beach) Pizza — 7⁄10(Sauce is lacking body. Glad you opened in South Beach. Pick up your game to retain customers. Next time I’ll try the items I haven’t tried. Expect a review sometime after that ;)

Really good pizza. Ordered the Soma pizza and was delicious. Picked it up and took it home, down the street. Mmmm. Bummer to see what happened to the people waiting in line earlier today. My guess is that this new business is still figuring out the nuances of running the place and the mass of people trying to find a place to eat sine garaje was closed was unexpected. Hoping that Soma pizza figures out how to make the peaks and valleys work!

Time: 2:12pm/50°F cloudy Purpose: SF Unilocaler sent PM about Soma Pizza. I answer what about it? Reply don’t have time and not a priority now. Actually, I forgot about them. Ambiance: Located on busy Third street corridor SP nestle between a few long standing cafes and shops. There’s no sidewalk seating while inside sits about thirty four or so with couple of television. Main wall has a drawing of bay bridge mural and that would be the only worth while décor. Front counter area line with bottled beer/beverages and business essential supplies. Place screams for attention, but I just don’t see it that way. Everything is withheld behind counter nothing self help only soda fountain. It’s quiet, but yet feels boring. Place is missing a character, or identity, or both. Doesn’t feel welcoming or inviting. Simply eat you slice and GTFO is the best I can describe it. Staff: Older guy could be owner working front counter as cashier. No greeting or smile just stoop there looking at me striking a weird look. Probably thinking I didn’t like his menu options. Notice employees were quiet not talkative among each other. Now, I’m wondering wrong time or something happen prior to me walking in. Back of house worker brought out my slice and older guy told him to stay back with a not so nice tone. If employees are treated like that, it makes me think what else is happening? Cleanliness: Grade A, brand new place impeccably clean. Soda fountain no drips or spills. All tables are wipe down with floor swept up. Most patrons clean up after themselves. Eats/Drinks: Slice of pesto chicken $ 4.49 w/tax included. Meh, I had way better. As soon as box prop open, I can tell what I was in for. Not good. The crust was like eating bread. It was about an inch high with no crunch on edge. The bottom was so soft with no char marks. Fingers didn’t even get blackened. So soft that you can roll it up and call it a pizza hoagie. The chicken were processed cube version and cheese held pockets of oil in random area. Tasted very bland even pesto was off tasting. Better show the kitchen people how to make a tasty pie with good crust. Reputation is on the line especially a new place. Main Features: Soma Special $ 15.99−27.99 Products/Services: Specialty pizzas, burgers, appetizers, salads, bottled beer/soda, fountain soda, desserts-Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Fax/phone in orders welcome, takes plastic, BYO pizza, open late(12−3am) depending on day. Promotions-free 2 liter soda or garlic bread w/purchase over $ 20, Sunday special order XL pizza and get a small cheese free. Punch Lines: New, close-together table, pricey, imaginable toppings, laid back, television, light bites, off putting, nothing out of the ordinary, interesting takes, no char crust, sleeper, quite bland, not as great, go elsewhere, pretentious, snooty service, workers not trained, opens late, minutes from at&t park. Tradeoffs: Standard mediocre pizza and burger with a touch of Mediterranean flare to differentiate itself. However, even Mediterranean taste is voided. In short, you’re paying trendy prices for below average pie Final Thoughts: Just because it’s in trendy SOMA area doesn’t mean there aren’t competition around. Charging hipster prices for a pie that rival Papa Murphy’s is showing incompetence and lack of experience. I can’t elaborate on other items didn’t try it yet. It’s actually a okay place, but customer suck big time. However, since it was my first visit, I’ll have to try again to confirm if it’s a on going problem.

So a few of us went there because Garaje was closed. At 12:30, there was a line of 6 people ahead of us. We finally ordered at 12:50. I ordered a Philly Cheesesteak Burger. At 1:30, I received this sad excuse for a burger with grey matter that resembled philly cheesesteak beef on a _burger_bun and some mushy fries. People from Philadelphia would spit on this and curse your mother. I expected a «Philly» burger which is a hamburger with mushrooms, bell peppers, onions and pepper jack cheese. There were no mushrooms in this thing. No onions. My friends each got slices and it took them about 30 – 40 minutes to get them. I think the Sysco food delivery that came in should give a clue about this place — they’re no better than stadium food. And these glowing reviews you see here? Bullshit. They’re all probably friends & family of the owner.

Worst service I’ve ever seen with a kitchen three times the size as others in SF. Pizza is OK, but not when you have to wait about 45 minutes for a slice it’s not worth it. A pizza by the slice place shouldn’t take half that long unless it’s quality pizza. Do not order from anything but the pizza menu. Their fries are OK, again not worth the wait. Their burgers are a joke. I got the«Philly Cheese» thinking it would be something like a regular philly cheese steak sandwich, far from it. Made like the rest of their burger on a typical bun, too much lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, with very little meat and some cheese melted on it. Word to the owner: As you probably know most food places either shutdown within a year or are successful. I highly recommend a seriously overhaul of your place if you want to stick around.

I was excited this place opened up and was looking forward to trying it. I had the Soma Special Pizza 14″ — recommended at the top of Unilocal24. Doughy and heavy in the box. It’s certainly no flimsy margherita. Toppings were ample and certainly tasted fresh, but I felt honestly that I’ve had bake-at-home pizzas with the same sort of quality of satisfaction. I assume everything here is freshly made and not pre-made/frozen… so I can’t explain this. Absolutely nothing wrong with this pizza… it just didn’t make my heart sing :) I don’t suspect I’ll rush back. But I might try something else the next time I visit.

Wow! Soma pizza is the place to go to! So pretty and updated inside. You get a full view of the kitchen. They keep it clean and well organized. Wanted something light to eat so Chris the owner recommend the gourmet salad and teriyaki chicken wings! Great recommendation! It was so good! Will definitely come back to this place!

I’d been passing by this place and its sign for what seemed like months now and stopped in yesterday on a whim before catching CalTrain. I’d been craving food from Soma Pizza’s neighbor, Garaje, and for once had cash on me but was lacking the time it might take to order, get the food and still catch my train so we saw that Soma offered pizza by the slice and went in. It’s possible it may have been their first day/week open, though I’d kind of assumed from the longstanding sign that they’d been there for months. They had a ton of staff on hand, which is great to not be understaffed for your opening, but there are certainly still some kinks to be worked out all around. It’s not gourmet pizza– let’s get that straight right away. It’s the kind of place you grab a(hopefully) quick bite for just a few bucks before a game or train or what have you. I was hungry, I’m always kinda broke, I love pizza, and I needed to catch a train so Soma Pizza seemed like the right way to go. The interior is immaculate, I’d even go as far to say sterile… which in an area where most businesses have at least a slight tinge of urine smell is a major plus. Ordering took a little longer than you’d think for what was a pretty simple order: Slice of cheese pizza, slice of veggie pizza, order of fries. I think they’re still trying to get familiar with the computer system, a totally reasonable thing, but when you’ve got less than 20 minutes before your train every second counts. We weren’t asked if we wanted our order for there or to go and about 10 minutes later my order of fries arrived in a basket to dine in. They were happy enough to change it over to a carry-out container but made us pretty nervous for our two slices of pizza still not being ready yet and now having less than 8 minutes to catch the train. On the pizza end, the good news is that if you order a slice of pizza, there’s a good chance they’ll be making a whole pie fresh right than and there for you. None of that waiting under a heat lamp congealing for 2 hours stuff. But the bad news is that it’ll take over 15 minutes to get that slice of pizza, which isn’t the best when you just want a quick slice. I realize you can’t have it both ways, but perhaps there’s some prep that can be done to cute down on this time going forward. Also, when the pizzas came out it took roughly 4 minutes and 6 guys in back to figure out how to cut the 2 slices and put them in a box. So, some extra training before what may have been opening day might have been a good thing. The fries weren’t my favorite type of fry, but that’s just my personal preference. I’m a fresh cut kind of girl and these were that kind of fry with the kind of crackly appearance on the fried outside… think Long John Silver’s. They weren’t at all greasy at all(I think they might have been baked) which I will say was great for eating on the train. My slice of cheese was about as basic as a pizza could come. Dough was dough-y(how I like) and I even ate the crust but you pretty much only taste the crust with way too little sauce on the pizza and super generic cheese. Again, I know it’s not gourmet, which is fine, but just know going in that the pie flavors are very similar to those mini pizzas that are microwaveable… only these slices took close to 20 minutes to come out. It’s a perfectly fine option for a cheap, no frills work lunch pizza but at the moment not exactly a quick bite stop and not something I think I’ll find myself craving on the regular.

Been waiting for this place to open ever since it was in construction. I must say, they have nailed it with the pizza and appetizers. I ordered the California Chicken pizza with a side of Buffalo Wings. The food was out in less than 12 minutes and the owner was nice enough to invite me back to try other menu items. Great neighborhood spot before the ball games or for local delivery.
