Amazing food and I’m not even a vegetarian. We split the baked vegan spinach, artichoke fondue. It arrived piping hot with warm pita chips. We practically licked the bowl. Then, we split the Jamaican jerk cluck. I really couldn’t tell it wasn’t chicken. It was hot, spicy and the portion was more than enough to share. I don’t live in CA but I would come back just to eat here.

I can’t believe I never reviewed the Source! I used to come here regularly after my trips to the naturopath, because her office is a short walk away. When I wasn’t in the neighborhood, I would often order via Caviar. I will say that I can’t stand fake vegan«meats.» I tried them here a couple of times and they just didn’t sit well with my stomach. My favorites here were the veggie burgers. I used to get the roasted pepper and onion burger regularly, but then I became obsessed with the Gilroy garlic burger. Their sauces and flavored salts for the fries were delicious. I was partial to the Gilroy garlic sauce and rosemary salt. SOSAD they are gone, because they had THEBEST veggie burger in the city!!! And I loved the kale salad!

My husband gets easily deterred if the place looks like its too«shi shi» or bougie or not accepting of people who have kiddos. So when he first walked in he wasn’t sure what to make of it. However, we were quickly shown how nice everyone was who worked here. You order at the register and then will be served like a dine-in restaurant if you’re eating in. From the get-go, our cashier was SUPER friendly and offered some right-on recs for food in terms of preferences and portions. He was also super accommodating for our little 16 month old. Yes, even though we were the only family eating here on a Sunday night(everyone else seemed to be meeting old friends or on first dates… guess you get the whole spectrum here hah!) we weren’t treated like we were the odd ones out. But yes, lets get to the food! We had the hummus platter, which was really good. It had a huge side of chickpea chutney, tomatoes, cucumbers and other fixins. Just wish they gave us more than a small container of hummus(it seemed like a side, honestly). We also had the Source fries with Chipotle salt(spicy, savory goodness) and creamy Gilroy garlic sauce which was just as good. Lastly we had the Magic Mushroom pizza. This was sooooo good. We opted for dairy cheese(you can have vegan as well) and the dough was cooked to perfection and it was just all the right layers of cheese, mushroom and sauce. Source, you’re not so bad ;-)

I didn’t want to accept that Source that was no longer the amazing restaurant that I came to love in 2011, however, I can officially say that this is the case now :(Source was widely known for having one of the BEST vegan burgers around. Came here two weeks ago to find that(1) they replaced the pita bread with a random bun and(2) the patty was burned and not seasoned very well. Lettuce and toppings were also quite wilted. I will also say that all of the employees and the owner looked extremely frazzled. Clearly there are some management issues here though I’m not sure why as the owner(s) are definitely the same. Hopefully Source can get their act back in order as they can’t charge premium prices for their current food.

This is Source Max to what is Source Mini.( ) This is one place on which I *can* rely on for vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free delicious food! Recommendations: + Mac and Cheese! With bread crumbs or without(gluten-free) the brown rice pasta is amazing! What M has done with this grain is quite a feat. Texture and taste make this a dreamy bowl of mac and cheese. So much so, that I cannot finish the entrée! Hey, it’s a great treat to enjoy it again for lunch the next day :) + Faux Burger in a Dosa! I never knew that beets could rival a meat patty and a dosa could take the place of a bun, but here they do! Again, such a big portion that I had to take the rest home for lunch the next day. Do you see a running theme here? + Faux Burger in a Bun! According to my friend, it was outstanding. Just look at the photo for proof. This is a *massive* beet burger. + French Fries with Rosemary Salt! My personal favorite and a never miss on each visit. + Kombucha! I love the new brand that they carry and the flavors in that line. Black Current is my personal favorite. *Tip: Sign up for the Five Stars Loyalty Program! If you’re a frequent customer, it’s transferable between both Source locations.

–Vegetarian– A person who ain’t about eating meat. Vegetarians may be doing it for religious/cultural/health purposes, or maybe they think animals are really cute. At Source, everything on the menu is vegetarian. The Philly Moo Steak is a cheesesteak made with soy meat. It’s resemblance to the real deal is uncanny. Notable vegetarians include Vegg Mosby and Armie Van Buren(weekdays only) –Vegans– Often referred to as the evolved form of Vegetarians, Vegans follow an even stricter diet. In addition to giving up meat, they give up all food that derives from an animal. That means no egg, no cheese, and usually no fun. Vegans are doing their thing because they have love for animals(cows and chickens may live in inhumane conditions where they’re exploited for their milk/eggs), for the environment(cow farming leads to methane, which kills our ozone), and because they’re noble. At Source, everything can be made vegan. This includes Mac&Cheese and their Mashed Potato Pizza. The biggest winner is the Chocolate Covered Twinkie. It’s deliciously vegan #oxymoron Notable Vegans include my friend, Tesshiqua. She’s a recenly evolved vegan who shuns Drive Thrus, misses her scrambled eggs, loves Allen Iverson, and snowboards at an above average speed. I think she is very thankful that alcohol is vegan(and Source has a bunch of different flavored beer). –Gluten Free– This is for when people have an imaginary intolerance to gluten. These people are highly susceptible to fake trends and marketing schemes. They’re great for business because they’ll pay a couple dollars extra to protect themselves from an allergic reaction that won’t happen. At Source, gluten free things include Lettuce Tacos and their Sriracha Chicken. Even their Mac&Cheese can be gluten free upon request. Notable Gluten-Free people includes anyone who has tried it for a day and realized how ridiculous it is.

What I ate: Orange Julius, spinach artichoke fondue Visit date: November 12, 2014 First time? No. Source, you have win my stomach over on multiple occasions. And you are my go-to whenever I’m in the City during weekday lunch. On my visits I usually get the Taco Pizza and the Living Green Goddess salad. Both of which are amazing and packed with magical flavors and textures.(Definitely get the living nacho cheese on the taco pizza; I’m hooked!). Both are filling and easily shared. Today, I had a craving for their Orange Julius smoothie which is just like the name implies only probably much better for you. It’s made with living cashew milk sweetened with raw agave nectar. It’s refreshing and super filling! It’s not too sweet and its perfect for a warm day(or a cold one!). My friend and I also decided try something new to us: the baked vegan spinach artichoke fondue. It was strange in texture, but I liked it. It’s made with roasted peppers, cashew cream, and truffle oil. It’s definitely not«spinach artichoke dip» but I was satisfied. It made a great accompaniment to my smoothie. Also, their pita is fluffy and hardy and delicious! Can’t wait for my next visit! PS On my first visit here I totally ordered wrong and thought I’d never come back, but look at me now! I had a Dosa and it just wasn’t for me. Source definitely has lots of variety for different palettes.

I am giving Source a ‘tentative four.’ I fell in love with their food, but had a less-than-desirable experience picking it up to-go. The menu is lengthy, but impressive. Plenty of interesting dishes and tons of options. What I love about a place like this is that you can take any group of people and everyone gets something that makes them happy. It can be difficult mixing vegan, vegetarian, and ‘regular meat eating’ type friends… but not here. Plus, even if you DO eat meat(or cheese) the dishes here served without them are equally as delicious and interesting. You’ll never miss it. After making the painstaking decision of what to get, we called-in our order for an appetizer of the Buffalo Cluck Bites, and two entrees: the truffled mac and cheese(non-vegan) and the veggie pizza(sub goat cheese for mozz). Problem 1) We had to call it in because the website’s recommended ordering app was not working. Not a huge deal, plus I liked talking to someone real on the phone anyways. They were nice, and helpful. Problem 2) We arrived 15−20m later(the timeframe given) and there was no parking. I «ran in» while hubbo sat in the car. The owner/chef/manager(someone important looking?) manned the register and was super professional and courteous. However… Problem 3) After paying, I realized there was a growing, grouchy mob of people waiting for take-out orders that hadn’t come. There was frantic staff running around doing ten things at once. I waited another 15 or so minutes before approaching the person who seemed to be handling to-go orders… and didn’t know where mine was. Then, she proceeded to give me one out of three pieces of the order and forgot about me again for another 5m.(In the meantime, doing the same thing to others.) When I approached her again, she got the rest of my order — no bag, utensils, anything like that… and I just took it and left. I was so hungry, and my husband was texting me from the car, wondering where I was. Problem 4) I get in the car and take a curious peek at the food. Buffalo cluck bites have no buffalo. Whompppppp. We turn the car around and head back. I approach the same frazzled employee who just hands me a side container of sauce and apologizes. Now that I’ve listed the logistical problems with take-out, I have to say THEFOODWASDELICIOUS. We loved everything we ate, and what’s more — I did have the opportunity to check out several dishes exiting the kitchen while I waited. I cannot wait to go back and try a «Dosadilla» or one of the huge, amazing-looking burgers(served on artisan buns, overflowing with toppings). All of the staff I encountered were super-pleasant, just… super busy. Too busy to be truly hospitable in the way I would like/expect. I’d suggest this place gets a dedicated to-go expo person, separate from the in-house expo or maybe adds some additional FOH staff to help out. I will think twice before ordering take-out again, but would be interested in going back for a sit-down dinner — as I think the experience would be much better. The restaurant had a really cute covered patio area and some indoor tables as well.

I had a very nice meal at Source with my wife and some of her college friends who she hadn’t seen in several years. Besides the tasty food they offer alcohol and kombucha. We opted for the kombucha because we were on the tail end of our honeymoon and we felt that we had drank enough by that point. Our hummus appetizer worked well for the table. I ended up with the moussaka which while tasty didn’t have the best consistency. I ate it all just the same but I should point out that it was soupier than usual. Like others have said, you order at the counter and then they bring your food to the table. While this place was a bit off the beaten path it was worth it to catch up with friends and grab some vegan eats.

After reading all the reviews and getting all hyped up from friends, I thought this place would be amazing. Instead, I just found it average. Service: pretty quick. We ordered at the counter and the food was fairly prompt. Food: nothing to write home about. I ordered one of the burgers and it was mediocre. I only finished half of it and took the rest home but didn’t end up eating it. The chocolate smoothie was the shining star though. Out of a group of 5, nobody else’s food even looked appetizing to me. Atmosphere: casual. We sat outside in what was basically like a tent/canopy set-up. Overall, it was fine but I don’t think I’d come back and I was definitely misled by its high Unilocal ratings.

Are you vegetarian, are stuck with vegetarian friends, or have an imaginary intolerance to gluten? If any of these apply to you, Source is an excellent restaurant for lunch or dinner. They have a huge variety of food for vegetarians, vegans, and wanna-be meat eaters(i.e. meat analogue lovers). On the other hand, if you’re a true meat eater, it’s probably best to avoid this place. Their best faux meats all taste uncanny, and while their mushroom/pepper/awesome burgers are delicious at first, they quickly become unbearable after several bites. So … 2⁄5 if you like meat. 4⁄5 if you hate meat.

We order one of their so called burgers and a brick oven pizza that totally bricked. Part of the burger patty was burnt, and the thing was almost the size of the plate it was served in. It came with the largest chunks of tomatoes, rendering it almost impossible to be eaten like an actual burger is supposed to be eaten. I attempted to eat it like a burger but eventually resorted to using a fork and knife out of frustration. It was the least burgery burger that tried to pass itself as an actual burger than I have had in recent memory. The cheese on the margarita pizza came right off the surface of the pizza after one bite, and what was left was pretty much a toasted piece of bread with a little tomato sauce. The server was rude and did nothing more than hand us our food and water. Overpriced and disappointingly over-hyped.

Source! A glowing bastion of vegan deliciousness in the middle of a tech company HQ desert. I have to say, it was a hike to get here on the bus system, but if you’re visiting and hunting for a memorable vegan dining experience like we were, or just a hungry local tecchie, I’d say it’s worth the trip. Source has a large seating section both indoor and outdoor, you order and pay at the counter inside and then grab a table and a numbered flag and your food is brought out. The menu was huge and I loved that I had choices in a variety of ethnic food areas, styles, tastes, etc. A great example of this is in the foods my boyfriend and I ordered, I’m more adventurous and he tends to stick to the diner version of vegan foods. I got the Dan Dan, which was hearty, filling, and bursting full of fresh vegetables. It’s not a dish that I’ve tried before in non-vegan places, but Source set a wonderful example with their version! The boyfriend got the philly sandwich, and it seemed like he was more than pleased as well. The food can take a little while to come out, and we ran into issues with our food not coming out together, but the staff is more than friendly and willing to help if something goes awry. Recommended for locals, tourists, vegans, meat lovers, one and all!

The source of my pain point here is both the food and the service. This is my 3rd visit here. All of which have been with Miss Bad Idea Bear, and all because we needed a place to grab some grub and catch up on each other’s lives. This was also during the period where Miss Bad Idea Bear was trying to be a healthier person by going vegetarian. This, as she’s wearing a t-shirt with a meat eating T-Rex on it. The service was non-existent during the times I’ve been there. Sure they give you water, or utensils, but no plates to go with the dishes we ordered, and no extra napkins. I wound up getting up all the time to be a waiter to Miss Bad Idea Bear who just loves her napkins. So as I sit here and eat this poorly contrived«Magic Mushroom(assorted mushrooms, fresh mozzarella, goat cheese, plum tomato sauce & truffle oil) pizza» I’m actually regretting every bite. It’s just a sliver beyond a frozen pizza, and honestly I think I’d rather have that cheap frozen pizza. At least it would be a little more flavorful. I don’t even taste the truffle oil. Is it tasteless and odorless? Maybe. We also had the sea salt fries with creamy gilroy garlic. They tasted like in and out fries(only larger) and the sauce tasted like some Kraft spread. On other occasions I’ve tried their«Divine Guidance» drink. Which tasted like bathwater. I needed divine guidance just to survive the drink. I’ve also had their«Grilled Moo Skewers(marinated moo & peanut satay over rice).» Meh. As you may or may not know, I was a vegetarian briefly in college. And if this place existed near my college, I would have reverted back to being a carnivore much sooner.

Despite this place being around since at *least* 2011, I’ve never heard of it until this weekend! As a vegetarian, while I don’t personally have restrictions on which restaurants I go to, I *really* love going to those where everything on menu is an option for me. To make it even better, they claim that everything on their menu can be made vegan for those who prefer it! We arrived right around noon. There’s easy access to some menus, but I’d advise checking the website or grabbing a menu and getting out of the entrance way while deciding on your order. Once you know what you want, you head up to the counter and place your order(ie, don’t stand in line and then try to decide when you get to the cash). We came here primarily for the fries, but there’s so much on the menu that’s amazing. I was torn between a burger and a «bow wow»(aka hot dog). I finally decided on the Chicago Bow Wow while my partner chose the Spicy Burger. I also ordered an organic root beer. For the location and food, the prices were decent($ 25 including tip for both of us). Seating is inside or outside in a covered patio-type area. We chose to sit inside in order to avoid several crowds of children that were there and there was ample seats to choose from. The food came out quickly and we dug in. First, the pros: 1) pickle relish is *really* pickle relish! I nearly freaked when I got a mouthful of sour dill pickle relish. It is *delicious* and highly recommend if you’re a fan. 2) the fries were fresh and hot and crispy and amazing. These were some really awesome fries and I’d be happy to go back just for them. 3) the burger patty was actually kind of mind-blowing. It was at least ¾″ thick, charred, and packed full of flavour. 4) I loved my Bow Wow! It could have used a bit more cheese but overall it was amaze. The cons, because sadly there are some. 1) My partner was a bit concerned that the burger came in a pita bread but decided to just go for it. Between the size of the patty and the tear in the bread, he found it impossible to eat with just his hands, instead opting to cut bits of it out with a fork. 2) On the flip-side, my Bow Wow came in a flat focaccia type bun. Unlike typical hot dog buns, this wasn’t connected on one side, it was two slices. As a result, I couldn’t pick my dog up like a dog without stuff falling out the sides. It was really messy and I had a hard time getting a bite that included sausage, cheese, relish and onion all at once. I had to take small bites off each side to get a mix. 3) The patty probably would have gone really well on my focaccia slices instead. If/when we return, I suspect we might request the burger within the focaccia. 4) I requested chipotle salt for my fries, but on the side, since I wasn’t sure how intense it would be. My plate showed up with the salt sprinkled all over the fries. :/Fortunately it was still good so no big deal. 5) My partner had asked at the cash if his burger came with anything extra on it that wasn’t listed on the menu. He was told no, but when he opened up the pita he found lettuce and tomatoes which weren’t listed. Despite the cons, the food here was awesome. We were both really happy with the quality and flavour of the food, making it worth going to again. I definitely would love to try the philly cheese moo and some of the pizzas! If you’re veg*an, or even if you’re not, check this place out!

I’m not even vegetarian or vegan, but this place was quite yummy. We got the(appetizer something) tacos and the Dosa Havana. With tip the bill came out to $ 24. FOOD: – The tacos were delicious. I’m a carnivore through and through, but you couldn’t tell there wasn’t any meat on the taco. – The Dosa Havana was quite delicious. It had so many layers of flavor PLUS they include avocado! Who wouldn’t want to eat it? – They also have garlic/onion and gluten free options. Parking isn’t too bad, go check it out! :)

This food was amazing! I had Source bookmarked for quite some time, but was on the fence for a while because I’ve never really been into faux meat products. I often fear they are over-processed. But, when a vegan friend came to town for a visit, she seemed excited enough about it to push me over the edge to finally try Source. All of the food was awesome. Gilroy Burger: served in a pita, this burger has veganaise, caramelized onions, and cheese(if you’re not vegan). The burger patty tastes incredible. It’s made of a mix of lentils, beets, different veggies, seasonings, and even some brown rice that gives a super satisfying and filling result. Any of the burgers I’m sure are worth a try just to try this patty. I’ve had other vegan burgers in the past and this one was the best I’ve tried. Dosa-Rito Dosadilla: The dosa is light and crisp, with a good chew. The filling was what you expect – a coconut curry with veggies, but very delicious and satisfying. Mediterranean Dosadilla: This was a really balanced dish, with a ton of good acid from the tomatoes and olives and made satisfying from the hearty artichokes. They do have a few parking spots in front, so I suggest going early before the lunch rush or after the lunch rush because parking around neighborhood isn’t the easiest. You order at the counter, they give you a number, and then bring the food out to you. Overall, this food was incredibly satisfying and super tasty. Even my meat addicted boyfriend loved it and said he’d gladly return.

Oh Source how I have loved you and had many great meals Here. It pains me to write this but not to forewarn fellow Unilocalers would be a travesty. Sources food and service have gone way way down. The Awesome burger aint so awesome anymore. In fact it was downright terrible. The lettuce and tomato were wilted remnants. The pita bread broke apart before even taking a bite. They forgot to put the sauce on the burger and there were no sides of sauce to accompany it either The fries are still great though. The Hummus platter was the worst I have ever had. They did not heat up the pita bread. Everything was served cold. The humus was like watered down paste that had no flavor. The falafel balls had no flavor and were cold as make matters worse there were other items on the plate that looked like baby poop and baby pee… I kid you not. Service has also gone down hill. The two ladies walking around reminded me of two patients in One flew over the Cuckoos nest… neither of which resembled Jack. They were just brain dead on auto pilot The only part of the experience that has appreciated was the price. Yep 20% higher. I can forgive this as I know it is expensive in the city. Sorry Source you are no longer my Source for Vegan Vegetarian food.

Awesome Menu | Tasty Food $$ My best friend and I spent a day of pampering ourselves so we went across the street to get a Thai Herbal Massage before coming to eat here. Excellent variety and good service.(we went for lunch) My bestie ordered a dosadilla and I had a 3 quinoa salad. The dosadilla was so huge that we split it; it was about 14 to 16 inches! If I can remember, there was mushrooms, spinach, and some other tasty things in the dosadilla. My salad was very nutritious and tasty. My quinoa salad had some green olives, lettuce leaves, chopped up beats, 3 types of quinoa, and avocado. Great vegan/vegetarian spot with indoor and outdoor seating.

My cousins recommended me to this restaurant so I knew I had to give it a try! This place was so easy to find & for a Friday afternoon it was easy to find parking :) Yayyyy for easy city parking! You order up front & have a seat. I ordered the Veggie Pesto. The portions are huuuuuuuge! They load the sandwich up, they aren’t greedy! The french fries are yummy! My wifey pointed out that they are baked & not fried. They have a lot of seating inside as well as seating outside. The outdoor seating has heaters so in case the weather is a bit chilly it’s still bearable to sit outside. I’ll for sure be back because the menu is huge! So much to choose from! :)
