This was our second stay at the Ritz so we decided to get massages during our stay. The check in desk was beautiful and checking in was quick. She handed us our keys and walked us over to our locker rooms. I was shocked how small the spa area was and I was not given a tour like other spas. But I soon realized everything was literally right there, so no tour was needed. I was told my therapist would come get me by my locker. I thought this was odd, but there wasn’t a relaxation room or waiting area. So after changing, I found a chair next to the phone and sat waiting. The massage room doors were right next to me, no kidding… Once a client was done, the door opened and I watched the therapist clean the room in preparation for the next appointment. I always request a male because I’m not comfortable with woman. My man is the same, his comfort level is with a woman instead of a man. He said he requested a male for me, but I was given a woman regardless. He also requested a couples massage, but they don’t do those anymore. I’m assuming it’s the spa set up, there is no way a male therapist can get their client without entering the woman’s locker room. With that being said, I truly loved my therapist. She was wonderful and I was 100% happy with our session. I give her 5 stars no question there… Now the spa was clean and well stocked just like the hotel rooms. There were minimal amenities, showers, restroom areas and only one steam room. Honestly, I expected way more for the incredibly high cost and reputation of the Ritz Carlton. I would go back for another session with my therapist, but the spa itself wouldn’t draw me in. So we decided on 4 stars based on our well trained and knowledgeable therapists, and the cleanliness of the spa.

I might be a spa snob but for a spa at the Ritz I expected much better. It is extremely small, no nice waiting area, no couples massages. The walls in the treatment rooms are INSIDE of the women’s locker room so I had to hear the hair dryer constantly going, hammers constantly doing construction somewhere closeby, and women cackling as they spoke to each other. For what this place is charging, and for the fact that it is at the Ritz, they better step up their game.

Out of the last 12 years that I’ve requested deep tissue massages, this was the first time I felt as if I was being punished for asking for more pressure. My masseuse was punishing and when I asked her to lighten up a bit she responded with, «But you said you wanted more pressure.» My muscles tensed and froze. It felt like she was bruising my skin. 20 percent gratuity is automatically added to your bill. The spa is only located within the Ritz. It’s obviously not staffed by Ritz-trained employees. As for the facilities, there’s only a steam room and no sauna.

True to its name, this spa offers luxurious services. I went in today for the prenatal massage. I was worried at first at how comfortable it would be, but from the moment I entered the hotel till the very end when I stepped out, i felt like I was personally taken care of every step pf the way! My masseuse was Yolanda, and she has such a good pair of hands. She made sure that I was comfortable throughout the massage. Her hands were soft and warm and yet firm in a gentle way. The ambience in the massage room was also excellent. All in all, it was a perfectly relaxing experience, just what I needed. I will definitely be back atleast once a month till the end of my pregnancy and after that for the other services offered here.

I came here for my anniversary with my husband and was VERYSATISFIED! The massage therapists were friendly and great at what they do! It was a little more expensive, but the Spa truly lived up to the Ritz name. We both revived the integrated 70 minutes. It was a customized massage involving aroma therapy oils and a varying amount of pressure. At check out they include an optional 20% on the bill which was more than worth it. This made the process easier, I’m not a fan of doing math right out of a massage so I was happy. Overall a great experience I would recommend it to anyone staying in or near the Ritz Carlton San Francisco A++++!!!

I had high hopes for Spa-De-Vie at the Ritz Carlton. I knew the prices would be high. Unfortunately, as I found out, this spa is waaaay overpriced for the service. My initial impression was a good one, very spa-like atmosphere & nice décor on the lower level of the hotel. I checked in & was given a key & directed with the wave of the desk attendant’s finger around the corner. She wasn’t unpleasant she just attended the desk and as it wasn’t going anywhere, neither was she. The amenities weren’t explained, I wasn’t shown where the lockers were or where to wait for my esthetician; I wasn’t shown where anything was and irritatingly had to come around to the desk 3 separate times just to ask the attendant where things were or what to do. I’m not even sure what the waiting area is for as it is outside the men’s & women’s spa rooms. I wouldn’t want to wait there in my robe while whomever is coming or going. Very un-relaxing. There is, I discovered on my own, a fitness center behind the«spa» area. There was a room with 3 separate vanity areas to groom yourself with hair dryers, combs, etc… after treatment(or before I guess) and lockers with robe & spa sandals; bathrooms & a steam room. I tried the steam room until the steam came on & quickly got to the scalding point. I(for real) hopped over the steam jets out of there & stood outside waiting for the steam to turn off so I could go back in, but it stayed on & I got tired of waiting & knew it would be too hot for me. So, I’m just hanging out in the vanity area & the esthetician comes along & we go into one of the tiniest rooms I’ve ever been in for a spa treatment. I think the massage room was a little bigger. There wasn’t even a place to hang my robe & she tucked my sandals underneath her esthetics table. She wasn’t horrible, but certainly not up to the prices they charged in here. She also didn’t even introduce me to the products they use or make any recommendations. I paid $ 275 for the Prestige facial. Yep, I’m throwing it out there. Where’s my sucker stamp? This was a huuuuggggge splurge for me and even if I were in the position to afford this kind of pricing I would expect to be treated like a welcomed guest, not ignored. To add insult, when I got to the desk to check out(again, where’s my sucker stamp) the spa manager was standing next to the attendant & he «recommended» I leave a 30% tip. I didn’t leave that much, but when I looked at the fine print(damn it) on the bottom of the brochure it said 20% gratuity was already added!!! In looking at my bill that is noted as the«spa service charge». Erg. I had hoped to relax and have a wonderful experience, but sadly, after paying $ 360 for an 1 hour 20 minutes I just felt burned & abused. I am as much to blame for wanting to live it up a little but Spa-de-Vie didn’t do it for me and I doubt it would for you either.
