God’s gift to Polk Street. Spinnerie is just the best. There’s nothing quite like it. The Mediterranean chicken is just like you wish your momma made and pretty much every side will satisfy your cravings. Staff is quick and friendly. Atmosphere is pleasant and trendy.

The first time I went to Spinnerie with my roommate I really did not like it. We both got the chicken sandwich(can’t remember the name) and felt sick for the next few days. I took a 1 year hiatus as a result. I decided to give it another try last night and it was a much better experience. However, this time I opted for the Kalamata salad. The greens tasted fresh and crunchy. The salad was light but still filling for me. It was $ 8 without adding protein. I was nervous about doing that based on experience #1. I’ll stick to salads. I don’t think the layout of the shop is the best flow which always makes you feel like you’re in the way. I definitely kept bumping people with my yoga mat accidentally though. Yeah, I’m that person.

It appears that they let go of a number of people, including one in particular cashier who was completely clueless and almost never took my order down correctly. It seems that every other time I go to Spinnerie my order is wrong. I got sick of turning around to get them to fix it, so I stopped going for a bit. Now I have identified part of the problem. One of the«chefs» there is messing up my order every time he is working. Today it was confirmed that it was him, as I watched him prepare my meal from a distance, after my order was apparently forgotten about. The manager now even seems aware of the issue, as before I left she had me check my salad to make sure there was chicken in it. While he didn’t forget the chicken, he did like he always does, leave out the dried shallots, put maybe three peanuts in the salad, and hardly any noodles(by the way the order was for a simple noodle salad with chicken). I brought that to her attention, and she had the chef fix the salad(the chef seemed rather displeased by this request, whatever!) So kudos to the manager for trying to maintain quality control. However, to that same manager; please stop ignoring the phone when it’s ringing when you have a long line to deal with! Just simply answer and put them on hold. It is super unprofessional to just let it keep ringing, and also very frustrating for the customer on the other end of the line. The last thing they want is to have to do is go to the restaurant in person to place a to-go order, so that they have to sit and wait for 15 minutes for it to be ready to-go, defeating the purpose of ordering to-go in the first place. Lastly, you guys have two different locations for paying for orders and three cash registers. Please just make one line for paying for to-go orders only, and have the other three registers be for ordering both to-go and in restaurant orders. It’s very frustrating having to wait behind someone in line who is trying to figure out what they want off the menu while ordering it, when all you want to do is pay for your food that you can clearly see sitting in a bag on the counter, so that you can leave.

I tried to like this place. I really did. Polk street has been relatively on the unhealthy side when it comes to food. When Spinnerie came around the corner, I was over the moon excited. Finally, a healthy place to eat! Eventually, the store opened after several delays, and I finally got to try it myself. The food is ok. Thats not why I am giving them a 1 star. I am giving Spinnerie a 1 Star, because its service workers, are probably some of the worst I have ever encountered in a brick and mortar restaurant. Ive eaten at Spinnerie, probably a dozen times or so. Most of the time I carry out, because the layout is very uneasy. The long, thin, claustrophobic environment makes me feel like im constantly in the way. More than 80% of the time, my to go order has been incorrect in some meaningful way. Whether its a missing side that I ordered, a missing condiment(several times they forgot the broth in the what the phở sandwich) or one time they just didnt give me meat in my sandwich. Literally. They forgot to give me meat in the sandwich, it was a piece of bread, with veggies on it. They’re usually pretty good about trying to make it up, I guess theyre used to this. The proprietors seem like really nice people, when I first came they were very hospitable and you can tell they really wanted to try. But the workers, I dont know if theyre high, or they just dont care, but the accuracy of my orders have almost always, been off. Logistically, its a nightmare. I wasnt going to give a bad review, I was just going to let it slide, but I called in to place another to go order at 9:15PM, and someone picked up the phone and immediately hung up. It would have been better if they just didnt answer the phone. Something about that irked me, and so here I am, finally unleashing what I have been telling all of my friends for the past year. The food is ok, the service is horrible.

Typically we pass by Spinnerie every week after driving back from the Financial District to the Sunset. One day we decided to stop by on a rainy day and we assumed because of the rain parking would be easy(normally we drive by and skip it due to the busy street its located on). Parking didn’t take too long since of the weather and the fact that it was past 6PM all metered parking was free, so what the hell let’s go ahead and try this place. The ambiance of the place is very friendly, they have tables set around and high tables for smaller parties(this isn’t a place where you go and say table for two, its more of a place your order grab a table and eat). So the ambiance, it’s very bright and I love the idea that the kitchen is right in front of you. You are able to see the chickens turning in the back and onto the left side away from the chopping block where they prepare the meats, they have a small presentation of ALL the side dishes they are serving that day. I mean these side dishes they look delicious every single one of them, they can make a mac and cheese look beautiful… Onto the food, my girlfriend ordered a half chicken along with some what seems to be potato wedges. The chicken was very juicy, but the chicken’s edge was strictly the sauce that they brushed over it/marinated it with, I believe it was Peri Peri. It gave the chicken a very small hint of spice but maintained its succulent texture(I find it rare for a place to keep a chicken thoroughly moist). Now onto the potato wedges… I thought they were very normal just some potato wedges that had some extra flavor. It was until then that extra flavor, I discovered that these wedges were cooked from the chicken drippings, which in my opinion is a GENIUS idea… never let anything go to waste you know. Well my order comes next, I’ve read several reviews on their tri-tip and how amazing it was. The tri-tip was cooked around medium rare and it was very rich in the natural beef flavor. My go to dish at all resturants that have it available is a rare steak. Overall the tri-tip tasted very good, but what really made it amazing was their fresh Chimchurri sauce. For my side I decided to get the amazingly artistic mac and cheese. I typically am not a lover for cheese, but I saw how the yellowness of the cheese wasn’t that deep so I had to try it. It was very creamy and yes it does taste like cheese, but cheese flavoring was not overloading. They topped off the mac and cheese with something crunchy(breadcrumbs i believe) and that just made it taste that much better. The price of food especially in that neighborhood seems affordable. The meats are very fairly priced I would say, but the side dishes are a bit on the steeper size. A full meal(Meat, Sauce, and a Side) roughly comes out to about 14 $. For chicken that may be a bit expensive, but hey that’s my opinion. Would definitely come back on a less busy day since the restaurant and neighborhood becomes overly crowded during the peek hours of dinner.

Really good comfort food. Not too salty. Good choices of sides and sauces. I liked it a lot. The containers reminded me of an airplane. It was kind of like ASPIRATIONALAIRPLANEFOOD!

Well i am writing this review based on my experience today. I had to take a salad out for a dinner i was hosting. I ordered a salad first and decided to add two sides. This was around 4:30pm friday and the guy taking my order was some asian dude. He was very curt and clearly wasnt paying enough attention. I felt condescended. I got my order and bam, no salad, just two sides. Who orders two sides? Anyway, my dinner is ruined. I will MAYBE try this restaurant another time if other restaurants have been destroyed by the earthquake and this guy isnt working. Unfortunate. One star because mac and cheese is my favorite food, thank the lord for the mac and cheese.

Walked into the Spinnerie around 2 or 3 in the afternoon, so it wasn’t busy. The girl working there explained the concept to me which almost looked like a chipotle but you’re creating bowls or burritos, but it is pretty fast casual dining. You picked the type of main protein you wanted(chicken, salmon, etc) and the sides are made fresh too. The peri peri chicken is spicy! We ordered half a chicken and it was more than enough. We also got fruit and dripping potatoes. I personally loved the strawberry lemonade the most!

You people are fairly incompetent. I paid for whole chicken and other food. Got home and it was half chicken… and missing other things. The irony is… the reciept is stapled to the top of the bag. It was a big reciept stapled to a small bag. No one checks? Is it that hard? Third time this happened. Lost about $ 45 in total or more. The people that run this place should be ashamed. I know you don’t pay your employees much… but even at Starbucks they get complicated orders right. You owe me!

Omggggg, I have never heard of this place as all. I really don’t like driving to Vaness at at, but when I go there, there are so many surprises. My boyfriend and I were walking deciding what to get for food and we saw this place and decided to give it a try. There so many variety on their menu. All there food is properly raised which is really wonderful. I ordered tri tip with mashed potatoes and boy I love mash potatoes. I was really impressed the meat was well seasoned. My boyfriend got the phở sandwich with tri tip his was really delicious too. The people at the line were very polite and gave us really good recommendations on what to get. They are very knowledgeable about their food.

Fresh, Tasty, Organic, Local… This place is clean, organized, friendly and exactly what Polk Street needs. I split a whole chicken with my sister BD we each got a side. Their cider was quenching and the service is excellent. I usually have my dinner delivered from here, it was nice to dine in. Love this place!!!

‘What the phở’ was a sandwich served in a bread-like-indian naan with yummy sauce and vegetables. Will come back to try some more!

Very juicy chicken, quick casual restaurant. Choose between ¼, ½ or whole deboned chicken in either peri peri(slightly spicy) or Mediterranean sauce. A half chicken is $ 8.50. Additional 50 cents for each dipping sauce, including the rarely seen Argentinian chimichurri sauce. I’m a fan of their spicy garlic, but the chicken by itself with peri peri is very delicious. In the spirit of Tender Greens or many other quick casual restaurants, you can order hot or cold sides, two sides being $ 6.26. I’ve enjoyed the corn quinoa and the sweet potatoes, whereas the fingerling potatoes are a bit too oily. Décor is clean & keeps in line with all the quick casual restaurants popping up. Great place for a quick lunch or take home meal with affordable prices, quite rare in SF these days. I would love to see them expand across SF.

Although Costco $ 5 rotisserie chicken can’t be beat, Spinnerie is a great rotisserie chicken alternative :) Major food coma walking out of this place. Nothing was too heavy and all of the sides were delicious. Got the half and half: half peri peri and half mediterranean. Of course half of our table liked the peri peri more and the other half liked the mediterranean more. I do recommend trying the half and half before getting a whole chicken with just one flavor. I really liked their mashed potatoes! It’s probably because I am a mashed potatoes fiend so almost all mashed potatoes are memorable… It’s a clean, brightly lit restaurant. I love the casual feel to it.

I was taking a 4-day class nearby and stopped by for lunch with a friend. On the first day I got a side and a Farmer’s Tan sandwich. The sandwich was just okay, nothing too special. The side, however, were AMAZING! So good, in fact, that the next day we had to come back to get more! This time, I didn’t waste any space on the sandwiches and just went straight for the side dishes. The dish with the beets, OMG I would eat that every day! It was the highlight of my day! The caprese salad was delicious as well and the truffle mash was nothing too special(but I needed something heavier to fill me up!) The only downside is that each side dish is $ 3.25 and it doesn’t come with very much. To feel comfortably full, you would probably need to get at least 4 side dishes for one person. I would definitely come here again for the sides!

Curiosity made me order their food. It smells good while waiting outside and watching happy and drunk people with their costume after an ‘Adult Halloween Party’ along Polk street. I told myself, it would be nice to bring some chicken home and I heard good reviews about them. The lady at the counter was very friendly. I ordered a whole chicken and I asked nicely if I can get half and half of their famous flavor — Peri Peri and Mediterranean chicken. Price is okay. One thing I don’t get is, they have to charge for the gravy and sauce that should come with the chicken, and it’s 0.50 cents per small container. One side cost 2.75, and 5.25 for two. I think sides cost that much as well. Chicken tasted good, I liked it. But I guess there’s not much extraordinary or something different to their chicken aside from it smells really good and it looks nice from the outside. Maybe I’ll give it a try again. Maybe next time, it will be different. Maybe it will be better if I’ll bring someone who’s very health conscious so I’ll appreciate the taste. Maybe, maybe.

We were looking for a restaurant near Polk and California(the VanNess end of the California St cable car line). Checking Unilocal led us to this great find. We had ½ spatchcocked herbed rotisserie chicken, tri tip medium rare and a pork belly sandwich. 3 sides: roasted cauliflower, quinoa and fingerling potatoes The chicken was flavorful, tender and not greasy.(Some rotisserie chickens at other places are greasy). The chicken is Mary’s organic The sandwich and tri tip were very flavorful and cooked perfectly. Our 19 year old sun wanted larger portions Cauliflower was so good, sweet and soft with no bitterness. DH loved the quinoa which is not that attractive looking. Fingerling potatoes are cooked under the chickens, but weren’t greasy. Not exciting but a filling side We will definitely be back to try different items. Thank you Unilocalers for leading us to a great find.

Restaurants who source their ingredients locally and change their menus based on the seasons gives you the freshest foods possible! Vegetarians love this place! At Spinnerie, they’re known for their deboned spatchcock rotisserie chicken, which basically means the bones are removed and the chicken is butterflied and roasted flat. I didn’t get to try it because I opted for vegetarian options the day I went; though the rows and rows of chicken spinning behind the counter looks really amazing!!! The salads are only $ 7 and they’re entrée portion! Freshly tossed with locally sourced ingredients from farms around Northern California. Their portions are definitely generous and very filling. You can always add a protein(chicken, tofu, tri tip, or salmon) to your salad for $ 3 — $ 4 extra. I ordered the Jobs salad, loaded with super 7 greens, apple and seasonal cheese and fruits, nuts, grains, seeds and fruit vinaigrette. So healthy! I also had a bowl of vegetarian black bean chili which was okay, the temperature was kind of on the cooler side. I love how many vegetarian options they have, even though I’m not vegetarian, I do enjoy eating greens and healthy foods. I will definitely be back to try their chicken and get more salads because its such a great deal! Stay tuned for an updated review!

In a neighborhood where there are so many culinary choices, it is sometimes hard to make a decision. Wanting a healthier selection of lunch choices, I come to Spinnerie because the food options are better for me. They are quick with the to-go orders and typically under $ 10 for my choices, so I like picking up lunch here. I typically order the roasted chicken and like the spicier peri peri, although the herbed chicken is very good too. The Peri Peri is more flavorful than hot. I like that you can choose between light and dark meat without a big cost difference, get what you want. Although I love the fingerling potatoes, my favorite is the roasted cauliflower calabrese. YUM!!! You’ll completely forget that you are not eating something rich and decadent. It’s good for you! The mac and cheese and kale salad are both winners as well. I’ve only ever had the basil jalapeño lemonade for drinks, which was amazing and a great summer sipper with your upgraded bbq meal. This place is great for eating right, great prices, service and the food is really great.

As someone who tries to save five-star reviews for the best of the best, I found myself really unable to refuse it to Spinnerie. Sure, it’s not a fancy sit-down place, but when you find responsibly– and locally-sourced food, deliciously prepared and at a wonderful price point, and consistent… well, I didn’t feel four stars did it justice. First, the chicken: I’ve only had the mediterranean, but it’s one of the most delicious rotisserie chickens I’ve had(right up there with Roli Roti and Zuni). Flavorful, juicy, and tasting fresh. They use Mary’s, and it shows. Second, the salad: the Granja Bonita salad(filled with corn, beans, avocado, jicama, red onions, roasted red peppers, cheese) is one of my new favorite salads INTHEWORLD. I can’t stop myself from ordering it. I think I’ve had it four or five times in the last month of so. It is purely delicious, it is an enormous serving, and the price is amazing. I feel so good and full and healthy after eating it. I love Spinnerie and can’t wait to wean myself off the salad so I can start sampling all their delicious veggie side dishes.
