Steinway Piano Gallery

I love the Steinway Piano Gallery in San Francisco.
I’ve been a piano teacher and piano technician for over 35 years and have lived in other major cities (Atlanta, CA, Louisville, KY, etc) and have never experienced a better place to purchase a piano than from here. The other Bay Area Steinway Galleries are also incredible as I have known clients from those stores that loved the management, staff and experience!
When you buy the best piano in the world, you would expect the best purchasing and service experience possible. The Steinway Gallery certainly meets those standards.
Alissa Gaerte is the manager at the San Francisco Store who you might meet, .. . or you might meet a very friendly and professional staff person that is always knowledgeable and ready to help you. Consistently, I hear the same praise from my own students and clients and their comments of how wonderful the Steinway experience was — — - — and CONTINUES to be with excellent service.
Steinway is the one of the finest, if not the BEST PIANO in the world. And, Steinway Gallery of San Francisco and the other Steinway Bay Area Showrooms offer and provide the BEST EXPERIENCE in buying and loving a new piano. I HIGHLY recommend them!

After a year of my last review I finally bought my Steinway. Yes it cost nearly some people’s yearly salary but it was worth it!
They offer free tuning and will do whatever they can within reason to help you maintain your instrument.
Lastly, ensure that you insure your piano!

We stumbled upon this gallery while walking to dinner. My 9-​yr old son loves to play and dreams of someday owing a grand piano. We were the only customers in the store at the time and the attendant was very friendly. She of course inquired about our budget and I explained we weren’t looking to buy. She encouraged my son to try out any piano he liked and complimented his playing ability.

Oh how I wish we could give ZERO stars. Too bad that’s not an option.
Upon entering the store the woman at the desk didn’t acknowledge us as she was too best texting. Another woman approached our party and began talking to us about pianos.

Folks– we also love Yamaha for performing.
Granted this store sells Steinways. They are nice pianos but we aren’t terribly familiar with them and so we wanted to learn more.
Well whoever the woman was that attempted to help us she wasn’t the best face for this store. The words condescending, arrogant and rude come to mind. She told my son who had expressed his personal love for Yamaha pianos that they we’re not for the serious piano player.

And you know what– Sorry, folks, Steinway after some research has been super sloppy lately, but I’ll say no more about their fine company just about the broad who’s meeting and greeting customers at their store she reminded me of Mrs. Kravitz from Bewitched– go google her.
I won’t be buying a thing from them ever.

I was helped by Audrey who was very professional and knowledgeable about pianos. I walked in with the intention to rent a piano and she explained to me their rent to own program. I’m still new to piano playing so I was hesitant about purchasing a piano in case it ends up being a short phase for me (I’ve only been taking lessons for 2 months now). She explained to me that the rent-​to-​own program is really for people intending to buy a nicer piano, but Steinway has a lot of used pianos in stock which would be a cheaper option in the long run. She let me test whichever pianos I wanted and she also played them for me and explained the difference in tones, and the difference between the taller upright and the smaller (spinet) version. She even told me about how the «action» was different when pressing the keys. I admit I don’t know much about pianos, but I trusted her and I felt no pressure to buy. I ended up walking out with a nice, inexpensive Kohler & Campbell piano for myself including a free tuning. Delivery costs are added to the list price.
