Amazing food at reasonable prices. Jonnie, the owner is a cool guy too.

I had the bronx bomb. Really really good sandwich. To get 5 stars everything has to be in line and an $ 11 sandwich is a bit pricy for me for the size. I got there right before they closed so I had no problem with a wait. Other people reviewed the guy making the sandwich was handling money. I didn’t see that. I’m wondering if they have multiple trucks because there were no burgers for offer on the truck I visited. I’d go back again. I’m definitely a food truck guy. Been to most that hit San Francisco.

Handles food without gloves. Switches back and forth from cashiering to your food. Roach poison in plain sight. My immune system is strong though so I must put a caution out there.

This was the worst food truck experience of my life. Ordered a tilapia poboy and it was disgusting. No crisp and it was really really fishy. The Chelsea chicken gyro had old limp lettuce on it and was just no good at all. The guys handled the food without gloves and dipped their hands in each bin of ingredients without washing their hands. Cross contamination much? Please stay away from here.

Subs on Hubs was serving at Brews on the Bay today. They were *NOT* prepared for this event. Although, based on other reviews, maybe that’s just how they roll. The only reason they get two stars instead of one is that the food was actually fairly good. But that is no excuse for taking nearly 30 minutes to make a sandwich. And there wasn’t even a huge line! They were processing about 1 sandwich every 6 minutes. I don’t understand how a food truck could be so slow and still operate. If you have anywhere to be in the next, say, hour after ordering, find a different place to get a sandwich. If you don’t mind waiting forever, get cozy because it’s going to be a while.

I go here JUST for the Blackened Tilapia Po-Boy. Shit is the BOMB. Just the right amount of spice with fresh lettuce, tomato on a nice sandwich bun. Makes me want to book a flight back to New Orleans immediately. No reviews mentioned this… this is a special, but is seemingly there each time I go.

You people need to wear gloves when handling food. When My «chicken cheese quake» order was ready I asked that the gentleman put it in a to go box. He did, with his bare hands after just taking my payment a few moments before. I open the box and it had several hairs in it, also because the chef doesn’t wear a hair net. This is disgusting and such a waste of my money!!!

I had the chicken gyro, I thought it was great. I didn’t like how the bags of chips were expired and stale, I found other expired bags too, they should spend the extra money and buy new chips that aren’t expired or near expired. Other than that, I did notice one guy not wearing gloves, hope he wasn’t handling the food. But the sandwich itself, which is most important, was very good. I would come back if in the area.

Having lived in Manhattan for 6.5 years after college, I can’t recall a big hot sub culture. Especially not with fillings like gyro meat within a cheesesteak. But regardless, it is nice to get a hot sub in San Francisco for lunch. This truck is OK(hence the 3-star). I enjoyed my lunch, but it’s not rave-worthy or anything. Tasty and filling though. Central Park Parm: The bread was a really good match for the sandwich. Chewy(but not too much), soft and not crusty at all. Loved the abundance of provolone. A bit skimpy on the sauce(though that made lunchtime eating less messy). The chicken was just alright. I would have preferred more breading/crunch; it was very lightly coated. Also the meat wasn’t that moist/juicy, kinda like it was overcooked a bit.

Today I ordered the Chelsea Chicken Gyro with feta for .50 more. The food truck was parked at 888 Brannan. The person who took my order was very pleasant and helped me decide between the Wall Street S&P and the Chelsea Chicken Gyro. The guy who made my food was not wearing gloves and had dirty black fingernails. Yuck. I know this because I watched him turn around after making my food and he then called my number and I proceeded to pick up my food at the pickup window from him. The Gyro itself was mostly filled with lettuce a little tomato and a very little chicken. Despite the dirty fingernails I proceeded to roll the dice and eat the Gyro. It was disappointing in flavor compared to other Gyro’s I’ve had before. I should’ve tossed it in the trash and bought something else but the $ 12.59 I paid is equivent to a half box of diapers for my daughter, a tank of gas in my motorcycle, 3 items combination plate with rice, and drink at Panda Express. It sounds really stupid now but at the time I didn’t want to waste the money. Maybe I just came on the wrong day but I definitely will NOT be coming back. Next time I’ll spend the time to buy food elsewhere.

I had the Hoboken Hoagie and it was amazing. It was like a perfect antipasto salad in a soft, fresh roll. I haven’t had a hoagie this good since I left Philly 10 years ago. I happened to hit the truck when there was no line, and I had my sandwich within 5 minutes of ordering it.

I had the Hoboken Hoagie and thought it was just OK, not really a lot better than the Quizno’s equivalent. It was on the bland side — seemed to be missing any peppers(I assume it came with, but maybe you have to ask for them.) I wouldn’t seek out this truck, but if it were around and I was in the mood for a sandwich, I might give ‘em another try.

Yeah this was a long wait. Be warned, 20 minute wait today. Also, they ask you if you want to tip. Kinda putting you on the spot. But the next time I go to Subs on Hubs, I will decline the tip since the wait is long. I got the Yonkers gyro with feta. It was pretty good. Probably one of the better gyros I’ve had. Worth the money, but not the 20 mins of my lunch. Def will come back IF the line is shorter.

I love food trucks, I really do. Thursdays are my day to hit UN Plaza in SF and get some food. I don’t mind that really, its a bit overpriced for what you get. Its about convenience and liking the idea of a non brick-n-mortar restaurant getting its go. That said, wow, I can not recommend this truck. First off, I went after the lunch rush about 1:30pm. I know how crazy it can get at the trucks in the noon lunch hour. I get to the truck and there’s a handful of people waiting for their food but nobody in line to order. I figure, «score! plan worked!». No such luck. Took a few minutes for the guy who was taking order to turn around so i was just looking at his back patiently. no big deal. Did get a little annoyed when he finally turned and saw me there and just pushed a counter bell from behind the window as if I should have known I needed to reach into the truck and ring the bell to get service. Its a food truck. Not exactly a big open expanse where they could loose track of the order window. I ordered myself a Yonkers gyro because I love me some gyro. I was told it would be about 15 minutes. I must have emoted a look of ‘fight or flight’ because she quickly changed it to ten minute wait. I figured I could live with that. 25 minutes later I actually got my sandwich! Yes, I could have gone to a phở restaurant, ordered eaten and made it back to my desk in the time I stood there waiting. Getting back to my office and digging into it I was hoping I could at least say, «slow but dang tasty!» Alas no… tzatziki sauce was weak and worse, my meat was crunchy. Yes, crunchy. They must have scooped in some gristle that was left on the grill into my sub because one gumball sized chunk was really thoroughly burnt and crisp. The worse part is, who looks at Unilocal while at a food truck? How ill I warn people away? Save your money(and time), people!

Random city find as I was walking back to my office and needed to grab a quick lunch. This food truck was well hidden on Sacramento in an alley. Looks like it is a 1 man show here and he seemed like a really nice guy. He was nice enough to make me a half and half gyro since I could not decide between the chicken and beef. They also have burgers, hot and cold subs and moussaka. I was slightly disappointed in the gyro. It did not have enough meat and had too much lettuce.

Had no intentions of eating nor buying anything. Came to the Jewelry Mart to pick up a repair item. Walking out the door, I saw this truck parked directly in front of the building and studied their menu which consisted of around seven different sandwich choices, some hot and some cold. Reading their description of presenting New York style sandwiches, their menu piqued my interest. They are quite witty in naming their sandwiches after famous NYC landmarks, mainly themed towards the city’s financial market. Reading the description, I chose to order a half sandwich of the S&P( ), Standards and Poors to those in the financial sector, but aptly titled for a sandwich consisting of sausage and peppers too. With soup waiting in my office, this would be a perfect pairing for lunch. Sadly, due to the thin yet long sausage patty, my sandwich was WAY too salty. It probably would have worked better with traditional Italian sausages(for which NYC is famous) or even sliced chorizo. For $ 5.00 or $ 6.00 for a half sandwich, this isn’t unreasonable. With competition in South of Market(Deli Board &1058 Hoagies), they need to step up their game a bit.

Subs on Hubs takes a few minutes to take orders. the food comes out in 10 – 15 minutes. offerings: –antipasto –hot subs –cold subs –gryos eats: –yonkers gyro(8, ½=5) feta cheese $ 1 extra «marinated lamb & beef meat stuffed in greek pita with diced cucumbers, tomatos, onions. topped with tzatziki yogurt sauce». *had a jalepeno pepper sticking out of the top. most(½)of the gyro is lettuce which isn’t mentioned in the description. tender meat is tasteless. can’t tell if it’s beef or lamb. slight juiciness as the sauce drips out of the bottom. veggies fresh. 2.5 stars . crumbs: –doesn’t seem like a good value, ½ of gyro is lettuce. –waiting for food takes a while.
