I loved this spot. I had a break from class at USF, and wanted to try something new and this place was walking distance. Granted, I did go around 11am on a Saturday and it was pretty empty and perfect for me. The guys at the counter were very nice, and I got the acai bowl, which is served in a very generous portion, and the cheese bread which I LOVED! Coffee wasn’t great. Limited seating, and small spot– but if you go during a quite hour it’s a nice place to eat and kinda mentally check-out and enjoy the street view :) Also– take some cheese bread to go, you’ll be craving it later.

This little shop is tucked in on Geary. It even has a tree or bush by it so it’s kind of hard to spot. But anyway, i was recommended by another customer to try their sweet bread that was topped with coconut and condensed milk. It was a little too sweet for my liking though. I also ordered an acai shake and that was just alright too. It wasn’t cold enough, it was room temperature. But it was nice of them to give me the remaining part of the shake in another cup. Anyway, I’m a huge fan of acai and I’ve had it abundant amount of times and I’ve had better than this place. If I come back, I want to try the coxinha that everyone raves about.

Great place to eat when I miss Brazil! They sell lots of sweets and also Guarana!!! Oh I miss Guarana so much. I almost chocked while drinking it. Haha. The popular salgados such as Pao de queijo and Coxinha are pretty good! Although they don’t have requeijao in their coxinha, they replace it with cream cheese.

Called to order 4 items, they were out of 2 of them. After getting my order, heard that they won’t deliver to some parts of SF. This information could be in the website to save people’s time.

I came here to get my acai fix. It’s a small little café with a few tables inside and futbol playing on the tv lol. $ 7.40(with tax) for a very shareable sized acai bowl. They don’t skimp on the granola here(as you can see in the picture), and it also comes with some bananas that I swear are hidden under there. Nothing fancy pants about this, but it gets that acai craving satisfied. Will have to come back for some of those Brazilian pastries and goodies!

Definetely one of my favorite spots for breakfast! Acai bowls, shakes, Brazilian pastries! Can’t go wrong! Being south american i get that feeling of almost being back home. The coffee is also really tasty! Service is a little slow but it’s great nonetheless so if you’re in a rush you might want to go elsewhere and comeback with time so you can enjoy your experience fully!

Sunstream Coffee was a quaint little Brazilian bakery that we thought would bode well for a quick snack. Little did we know that we were in for a ride. The inside of the shop is really small, with seating for less than 10 people, let alone elbow room for those people. It is not fancy by any means, like most ethnic stores usually are. The guy working the counter was nice though; not too engaging, but still offering service. We ordered a few different things from the pastry case that they have as well as an OJ. The juice was actually pretty good as were some of the pastries. The beef quibe would be my top choice, followed by the pao de queijo. The coxinhas here are what caused my rating to plummet from a 5 star rating to a 1 star. We all tried a bit of the coxinha and we all got violently ill after eating them. We know that this is the culprit because it was the only thing that each one of us had eaten. Looking back, we should have known something was up when we looked in the trash and saw tons of coxinha thrown in there. I am guessing that the chicken and cream cheese based pastries had been sitting out for quite some time and the guy working there had not gotten around to discarding all of the ones in the display. Well, due to this we all have an aversion to coxinhas from Sunstream and might not come here again since we are still paying for this dire mistake…

The place is kind of hidden and easily missed since its located on Geary blvd right before the tunnel heading towards downtown. If you see the bank of america on Geary it is located right across the street from it. I come here only to get one thing: COXINHA which is basically Brazilian potato ball filled with chicken and cream cheese inside. It is so delicious! Its great to eat right away or take home and reheat in the oven. The portion size is large worth every penny! A must try. Sometimes they run out later in the day so best to go in the morning.

By far the most authentic acai bowls in the city. Really great texture, not super icey and watered down. I hate when places(cough cough Judahlicious) water down their acai bowls and charge you $ 10 for ice. At Sunstream they only charge $ 7.40 including tax and it’s super dank. Every time I come in here, everyone is speaking Portuguese and it seems like people just pop in to say hello. The coffee is also good. If you’re looking for legit Brazilian snacks/sucos(juice)/acai then this is your place.

Ok here goes another one of my extremely bias reviews about a Brazilian-style café. I will start with why despite my biasness I am offering up 4 stars for Sunstream. My wife and I have been to this café three times despite us living 105 miles away in the Sacramento area and each time we have been they are ALWAYS out of Pao de Queijo. I understand that other people must love it too, but we have even gotten there super early to make sure they didn’t run out and they were still out! Common guys! Clearly people are loving the Pao de Queijo so you gotta cook way more so we can all enjoy some after traveling 105 miles just to eat it! Ok, now that the rant is over with because I am sad due to Pae de Quiejo withdrawals we can get to the good stuff. All of their other pastries are SOGOOD! The coconut rolls and the cachorro quenche(hot dog) pastries are just so «Braziliany» delicious. Thank you Brazil for having just some of the most amazing food ever and thank you to the Brazilians who own and run this shop and do all the cooking because it just brings me back to living their every time I come to visit. Thank you for importing the amazing Guarana and for the authenticity you bring. It is an absolute joy eating here and just sitting by the window watching some good old fashion Brazilian TV. Another down side is there is VERY little seating, but I think the style of Sunstream is more of an on the go kind of place rather than sit and chat kind of place, but they do have some seating if you wanted to make a stand. I don’t know how good their coffee or other items because I usually just fill up on the pastries so I apologize, but the pastries just make me happy and I will never forsake them.

I love how this place isn’t overrated! If you’ve ever been to Porto’s in SoCal, & you love their potato balls, then you need to go here & see what the Brazilian potato balls are all about! What’s Good~ The Coxinha–(potatoball w/chicken & cream cheese on the inside) is a super delicious snack! The portion is pretty big for a potato ball, when you bite it, it’s crunchy on the outside, potato goodness on the inside, then when you reach the center, it’s delicious chicken & cream cheese goodness! It’s the perfect size, texture, & combination. Acai Bowl(more like Acai Cup) — Although their acai bowls aren’t fancy shmancy like most places that are known for just acai bowls, it’s pretty darn good. They use Sambozan for their acai bowls, & the toppings are just basic granola & bananas. I would walk here from school, & sometimes I would carry fruits on me as a snack, I would just add it in(like strawberries, pineapples, & papaya). It’s basic but it’s tasty & does the job. And for the price, you really can’t beat it! Orange & Papaya Smoothie– When I read this, I thought to myself, what an interesting combination, I HADTOTRYIT! You will have the option of having it sweetened, but for me, I had it unsweetened, because the fruits seem like they would already be naturally sweet. I loved the texture & smell of the orange & papaya together. I would definitely order this again! Overall, a great place to grab something on the go!

Hidden little gem this place is and easy to miss. I’ve been craving acai bowl as of late and how many places in SF actually sell these? Last time I got one was from some new age hippie selling it in a vegan shop exclaiming the virtues of a gluten free, antioxidant rich, and health conscious values of going vegan. His acai bowl was friggin $ 12 but half the amount that Sunstream offers. I like authenticity and I like value. Well, now I know of a place in SF where you can get your dose of the super-antioxidant berry bowl to counterbalance the many deep fried Brazilian pastries they have to offer. The pastries sit in an oven display case so it’s hot and ready to eat and I devoured it. The acai bowl is $ 7.40 with tax. Place is quite small so I got my food to go. But stick around if you’re interested in Brazilian TV, Brazilian football, or to converse in fluent Portuguese with the Brasileiro expats.

Açai Bowl — it doesn’t have all the fancy add-ons such as the berries/coconut shreds/chia etc that you would find at other açai places. Instead, it’s topped w/almond granolas, bananas&honet. It’s simple, but it’s delicious & satisfies my açai craving at a decent price of $ 6.80. Coxinha & quibe — luckily, I was able to grab the last coxinha & quibe teehee. I recommend reheating if it’s not warm b/c it tastes a lot better. The coxinha had tender shredded chicken&cream cheese inside along w/a crispy yet soft doughy exterior, which was soo good! And the quibe, which was my favorite, was crispy&packed w/spices& cheese on the inside. Both were savory & delicious! Overall, recommend checking this place out if you’re trying to get your açai craving satisfied w/o wanting to spend a lot. Also def try out their delicious pastries, but get them before they sell out in the afternoons!

I was pretty excited to find out about this place that has brazilian stuff so close to my apt! Stumbled in here one day after watching one of the world cup games over at Ireland’s down the street. I was pumped to try the coxinha and kibe but they were all out(understandably so) So instead I had a risoli(which was really good) and a guarana, and was able to buy some brazilian chocolate instead. I usually come home late wayy passed their hours so unless I come in the morning on a weekend(sat because they are closed sun) I wont be able to try their other salgados. I does say something that they are usually sold out tho so I will have to wake up early one saturday and make my way over here. I was impressed that they have cakes and other things as well. Very reminiscent of the little lunch places in Brazil where you walk in and everyone is talking to each other. Will have to go back.

I am belatedly Unilocaling about this awesome place. We were on the way to an epic hike at 8am two weeks ago, and desperately needed coffee. But, this place was a ridiculously pleasant surprise because they had… Brazilian pastries and food. WHAT. On top of the coffee, we ordered the Chicken Coxhinas(not sure if I spelled this right).. cream cheese, shredded chicken, hearts of palm, spices, YUMM. And we ordered a roll with cheese, coconut, and sweet cream in it(the mane pelado??). My boyfriend had to stop me from ordering everything I saw in the display case. These pastries were just amazing handmade goodness, and my mouth salivates just thinking about them right now. I mean, where else in SF do you find food like this? And the vibe was über authentic and chill. Some older dudes were there just chilling, having coffee, watching soccer, and we chatted with the cashier about his experiences thus far in SF since he has just moved here recently from Brazil.

Super amazing; a new addiction of mine; one of my favorite places. I almost gave it 4 stars, because it’s a bit pricey, but ultimately the quality of everything they serve and the fact it’s one of my favorite places won me over. Even just looking at the menu online to jog my memory makes me want to go back right now… They have a wide variety of pastries that are mouth-watering. Beef, chicken, corn, cheese… take your pick; all of that I’ve had have been fantastic. They’re also quite filling; 1 of them and an acai is a hearty lunch. Not to mention that everything from the pastries to the drinks to the employees is authentic. Speaking of the acai… I haven’t had much experience with it; this is the first and only place I’ve had it, but it is out of this world tasty. It seems like something that is allegedly healthy shouldn’t taste this good. Like an amazing mix of berries and cinnamon and and… It tastes healthy and sweet and tasty all at once. Excellent. Soft drinks — they have Brazilian soft drinks too; I had a Guarana one that was delicious. The employees are also super helpful; the guy working there is really friendly and happy to explain what each of the pastries are — and to make modifications to drinks or acai to make them perfect for each individual’s dietary needs and tastes. On top of the excellent employees, the décor and the size really make this a cute, independent hole-in-the-wall, the sort of place SFans — myself included — adore. The only real complaint I have is price… nothing in SF is cheap these days, it seems, but smoothies start at $ 6.40 and go up from there… if you want to eat lunch here, it’s going to be $ 10+ even if it’s just one pastry and a smoothie. That makes this a «sometimes» place for me, rather than somewhere I can go every morning. But, with how good the food is, I’m happy every time I go.

I would give this place a 5 but service is important and this place is lacking. I’ve been here twice and I always feel rushed. There are a lot of Spanish speakers that come here and they all seem to know the employees, unfortunately I’m not able to communicate the same way… However they are fast so if you’re on the go it’s perfect. I’ve tried the chicken coxinha(co-shin-ha) and it’s really savory. Definitely try it if you have the chance, it’s unique. Brazilian coffee is bitter and not strong(in my opinion). I had it black but I didn’t feel anymore awake than I was before. Then again I have a high caffeine tolerance so maybe it’ll be strong for others. My most recent try was the acai bowl.($ 6.80, $ 7.40 with tax). Decent, but it was a bit watery. It comes with bananas and granola on top, not as embellished as other bowls but it was still delicious. I’ll come back here for the acai bowl and coxinhas, and hopefully I’ll get a friendlier vibe.

Having spent a summer in Brasil years ago, I still long for some of the staples that I had that summer, one of them being Antarctica guarana. I found this place one night, taking the 38 Geary after a Giants game and while we were stopped, my eyes were drawn to a bunch of green cans through the window of a closed café. There it was– the Holy Grail– guarana Antarctica! The next time I ventured through the area during regular hours, I made it a point to stop in and pick up some guarana and discovered that they have wonderful Brasilian pastries as well! So every once in awhile, I’ll pick up a 12 pack of Antarctica and get a pastry as well! I love the coxinhas here. Basically it’s a fried ball of chicken and cream cheese. What’s not to love about that? It’s a little pricey($ 3.70), but the thing is huge! Don’t eat it too close to dinner otherwise you’re gonna be too full to eat! I say this by experience, it’s happened before! I’ll definitely be back in before long!

Pretty good acai bowl. It’s actually an acai cup if you get it to-go. It comes in a very flimsy plastic cup with a lid that doesnt snap in. So I accidentally cracked my cup and it created a mess, leaking everywhere. The bowl comes with acai smoothie mix blended with guarana syurp and topped with banana and granola. It was simple, yet good. But would’ve preferred more fruit topping options to give it more texture. Not sure how authentic that would be but that was my preference. Ha.
