This was a lifesaver! Lily was fantastic! I stopped by here while on a visit from Virginia. I needed a trim and was a bit nervous! They were very accommodating!

I normally try not to leave negative reviews, but this felt like it needed to be said.
I can’t remember the name of the woman who cut my hair, but my guess was she was the location owner since she was the only one not wearing black.
I have blue hair. This has never been an issue at any salon, but at this location I was laughed at and had a haircut done without my hair being touched by hands. It was not what I was asking for, despite my «please stop. No. I like it this way.» Etc.
After my disaster of a haircut, it was my 10 year old sister’s turn. The woman cutting her hair didn’t give her an inch trim as requested (a simple cut, honestly) and ended up cutting 5 inches off, causing my sister to cry for the next hour about how horrible her hair looks cause this woman cut off all the fun blonde ombré we had worked so hard to put in.
Don’t go here. If you want some place cheap, there are plenty of other supercuts in the city.

I came in here the other day looking for a particular shampoo. There was a lady giving a haircut while I was browsing. All of a sudden another lady from the back came out to the front where the products where and asked what I was looking for. I simply told I was fine looking, and thats when she started a starring contest. She walked over right next to me, basically shoulder to shoulder pretending to be busy by «fixing» the displays. This was by far the most uncomfortable situation. Lily needs to learn some customer service skills and realize its rude to breathe down someones back while their shopping. I think she started feeling bad after I made my purchase.

Angela is the worst hair cutter I’ve had in years.
The sad thing is I’ve been to this location for several years. She’s been there the entire time, and whenever I have the unfortunate displeasure of landing on her, she never listens to what I tell her to do. Angela, here are a few notes for you:
1. «Texturizing» scissors are not really about texturizing. They’re a cheap and dirty way to thin out someone’s hair. My hair doesn’t need thinning. It needs a certain amount of unevenness in the tips to – in fact — give it a fuller look.
2. Stop asking me what I want when all you are capable of is the exact same haircut, every single time. I look like a prison inmate from the early 2000s; little long on the sides, and an uneven poof on the top.
I don’t tend to get so upset about these things, but I was very specific with Angela the last time I went in. I basically wanted NOTHING taken off the top of my head; I asked her just to clean it up a little. She took off a good half an inch, at *least*
I canceled payment immediately afterward. But I received no phone call or email from Supercuts, and so far as I can tell, that never went through.
There are plenty of other capable hair cutters here, and I’ve had completely good results. But I’m never coming back. BEWARE ANGELA AT ALL COSTS. Supercuts manager, if you see this post, please get in touch. I’d like to talk to you about firing your employee.

I went in just to get my beard and sideburns trimmed. When I walked in I was directed to sit in a salon chair. After the stylist came out, she scoffed at me and told me I was sitting in the wrong chair. I should have walked out at this point, in hindsight. She scraped my face with the clippers and when I asked her to trim around my ears she did not mention it would cost more. She went ahead with it and I thought I felt her cut my ear. At the end of the trim there was blood on the toilet paper but she denied that she had cut me and tried to hide it. She straight up denied it. There was also hair all over me as she did an awful job cleaning up. She charged me double what I believed I would be and was rude and argumentative. I stupidly paid for it. After I left it all sunk in and I went back and asked for a refund. She wouldn’t give it to me and instead gave me a number to a carpet store she insisted was her manager. Then she told me «no more talk». I finally got her to call her manager. After retreating to the back and talking out of earshot, I got to speak to the manager. She wasn’t going to take my info to follow up. I forced her to write it down and told her to call me later and process the refund. I also called corporate and followed up with district leader. I’m not usually a difficult customer and all this effort was only for $ 18, but the the principle of the situation compelled me. It was that bad. AVOID THIS PLACE.

I used to work at this supercuts. For anyone who revived a haircut from Amanda and loved it, I now work at G Salon. Supercuts is good first place to work, a hidden gem, but now I have moved to a new salon. I wish those guys at SC the best, and give them as many details as you can about your haircut. For my clients and friends who missed me I am just around the corner.

Lily was lovely and cut my hair just like I needed it! She didn’t rush through it and was very thorough. Will definitely be back!

There are two types of people in this world, the one who care so much about their hair and the ones who don’t. Come here if you don’t. $ 19 is what they charge for a haircut.

I got called away unexpectedly from New York to a business conference in San Francisco. This is right before I was supposed to see my regular extremely high-​priced hairstylist. I had absolutely no time before my conference and I didn’t look very presentable. I didn’t know what to do, and then I saw SuperCuts on Irving Street and I felt anything would be better than the way I looked right now. I apprehensively walked in the door and was greeted by the biggest smile I’ve ever seen by hairstylist named Lily. She talked to me for a few minutes about what I might like and then set me down in her chair and boy did I feel at home. Most of the cut she did was with scissors not a clipper and I felt that it was so skillfully done that she make sure that every single hair that I had was in the exact place it should be. Then she put a hot towel around my neck and it felt real relaxing. IS THIS SUPERCUTS? I got up and looked in the mirror at both the front and rear of my head. I couldn’t believe how much better it looked than my New York hairstylist. Thank you for saving my day Lily.
Now I’m looking for new hairstylist in New York. Someone who comes close to the skill that I found from Lily. In addition if I have another conference in San Francisco you know I’ll be back to see Lily

Seriously with all of the Professional Salons on Irving, Judah, Taraval, and West Portal, WHY would anyone come here? Ridiculous price for their limited services & Micky Mouse work!
I came here a few times & was thoroughly dissapointed. I wanted the sides of my head shaved (I’ve a mohawk) & each time I requested a double Zero & they only used a zero. For some REASON they don’t give me the shave that I want and it is irritating, especially since they are bloody expensive. I wanted a Very clean shave & for $ 20 they didnt give me what I requested!
There are much better places way cheaper in Castro/​Mission — I was just desperate when I used SuperCuts for convenience & maintenance reasons.
Ill never go to any of em again!
Their ‘Hair Cutters’ seem to lack technique, individuality, and personality. Its like they are cutting by the instructions of a book. Taking steps and reading manuals. Seriously, they do ‘Micky Mouse’ work and after the number of times I have unfortunately used them I am not convinced that the people who work here are real Stylists and there is nothing Super about Supercuts!

Angela is top notch. She’s very detailed and quick! She really knows what she’s doing and takes her time to ensure that you look GREAT! She doesn’t work on Sundays or Mondays though — call ahead! Fridays seem to be the best.

Took Ronan to Super Cuts on Irving. We had taken him to a few different Super Cuts. All did a good job. This was exceptional. He was not in a great mood because of nap time but the stylist Lilly took her time was very patient and did a great job. Very professional and very sweet. I highly recommend. The cost was $ 19 minus a $ 1 off for some reason. Gave a $ 5 tip. Thought that was fair. They are cutting my wife’s hair now. Lets see how that comes out.

Korean female stylist with bad attitude. If she doesn’t want to do her job, she should be fired. Brought in my son and she had no patience. She crumpled up the haircut ticket and said I should go. Nice attitude lady!

The Inner Sunset Supercuts has had a good stylist, who has transferred to another shop, but one of the longtime stylists, Angela, at the Irving St Supercuts is someone you should not agree to let cut your hair, unless you: (1) want to have your instructions, requests completely ignored;(2) want the heck thinned out of your hair till it’s thin and flat – even if you have not asked for thinning ;(3) want way more of your hair cut off than you’ve asked for; and (4)want to have to go the next day to someone good (another Supercuts stylist I’ve used, who has never disappointed; he was unavailable that day) to have your disastrous cut repaired… thereby paying for two haircuts and ending up with hair inches shorter than you wanted or intended in the first place. Before getting this dreadful cut fixed, my formerly full and curly hair was nice; after the first cut, from Angela, it was thin and flat to my head and totally peculiar looking.
Instead of the half inch I asked Angela to cut off, she cut 2 to 3 inches. Another inch or more of my formerly long hair had to be cut off by the good stylist in order to cut off all the jagged «pointy bits» Angela made with her thinning scissors. Final result: good haircut but at least four to five inches shorter than before, and twice the price. Beware of Angela!

I’ve gotten my hair cut here about 8 or so times over the past two or so years. My best experiences have been with Amanda and Lily. This is an inexpensive salon (of course) so its good to know who you’d like to have your hair cut by (and call in advance to make sure they’re working and available) and what kind of cut you’d like.
At this point I go in about every 5 – 6 weeks, sometimes with my wife and 4-​year old (who’ll play with the iPhone until I’m done). Amanda’s a great conversationalist/​listener as well as stylist, and Lily (who cut my hair for the first time in December) understood exactly what I wanted and has an excellent, detailed technique (no clippers, at least for me) to get my hair the way I like. On one visit, a more mature male stylist gave my 4-​year old an excellent cut as well!
If you do go here and need to find parking, I recommend trying up towards 4^th-​5^th Avenue on Irving or a side street, so that you don’t have to feed a meter and worry about timing.
I’ll keep going here for the foreseeable future, since they know me and my preferences now. Thanks Amanda and Lily!

Unfortunately, this particular Supercuts was very unorganized. I walked into the shop ready to buy a couple of liters of shampoo and conditioner from their holiday sale and noticed both hairdressers were busy with two customers. When I picked out the bottles I’d like to purchase, one of the hairdressers left her customer and came to the register to assist me. Apparently there was an issue with the bar code on the bottles which didn’t register with the computer. I had to wait 20 minutes until I left the store just to ring up a bottle of shampoo and a bottle of conditioner! And that whole time the hairdresser was unsure how to ring up my purchase, her customer was patiently waiting while her hair was wet and she was right in the middle of a haircut. It may be an issue with corporate and their bar codes, but there should be a way to manually ring up purchases.
Bottom line: Unorganized.

I’m giving this particular Supercuts 5 stars because of Lily. She gave me a most excellent haircut. I told her exactly what I wanted and she got it to a «T». From now on I’m going to call ahead to make sure she’s working.
I’m not sure if Lily wasn’t there that I could give this place such a high rating.
The day I was there the manager was berating Lily for not having perfect English. That annoyed me. As long as people can communicate and are polite to me I don’t care about anything else. And Lily did such an excellent job why would anyone in their right mind be so petty as to treat them disrespectfully.
Anyhow, I’m going to try to get Lily from now on when I go there and if she ever left this place I would follow her to wherever else she went.

Friendly staff. The haircuts are hit and miss, but you get what you pay for.

It should be noted that this review should probably be limited in some respects to only one specific stylist. However, because the manager released an under qualified newbie unto paying customers, the whole place deserves this bad review.
Note: I have been here three times, first two times received successful haircut Third time was a disaster that I am writing about. (I considered throwing them a two star bone but ²⁄₃ good haircuts is terrible ratio for hair cutting business).
I get a simple men’s haircut. In fact, I don’t think it gets any easier and it might be the first haircut they teach you at a cosmetology school. However, the stylist butchered it and failed miserably.
I don’t remember her name — but date of visit was the morning of either Monday January 28 or Tuesday January 29, 2013. More details on the specific incident are further below.
I ended up getting the haircut fixed at the Supercuts by the Lucky’s on Sloat Blvd. I didn’t get it fixed at this store as there was only one other stylist there and there was a long wait. The stylists at the Supercuts by Lucky’s were astonished by how bad the cut was. Somehow they were able to salvage. Although it was way shorter and higher and tighter than I wanted.
****Details on my cut from hell***
— Really bad tapering –the lines were unbelievable uneven. Left side — the taper started really high and then came down to about my eyebrow. Right side — super high and tight.
–She took for freaking ever, which made me more and more nervous as the cut was going on. As she went on about her plans to celebrate the Superbowl in Hayward I was screaming on the inside and my palms were sweating.
— She took off like 1 cm from the top even though I specifically said an inch but whatever the less she cut the better.
At the end of the day I looked like a mix between jar head & redkneck WWE wrestler (not that there anything wrong with these people just that when it’s not what you asked for and each side of your heads looks like one of each it’s weird)

Do not go to this overpriced chop house. After the astonishing $ 20 hack job the old lady combed my hair with her fingers, she did not attempt to trim by sideburns either. I’ve never had such a bad experience. Don’t go here.
Go across the street to Salon J for a woman who knows what she’s doing, is respectful of her clients and charges $ 10 for men.
