Dear T2J, I went away for 10 days and when I came back, all I found was an empty shell of the weekday lunch utopia that you used to be. It’s been 2 months now and I still miss you. Lunch specials will never be the same again. Combo #3. Hope to run into you again sometime. Seriously though, I never knew the lady owner’s name, but she was always friendly and the food was homestyle awesome. I ate there at least once a week. Combo #3.

I wish I could remember exactly what soup it was that I got, but holy hell was it the best noodle soup I’ve ever had in my life. Perfect. I’m writing this review so I can remember to go here again the next time I’m in San Francisco. Everyone’s dishes looked so good. It’s smelled SOOOOGOOOD. I’m looking forward to pigging out here next time I’m in town. EDIT: It was the Woon Sen Soup.

While stopping by to order take-out, I was informed that yesterday was their last night of business as they lost their lease. That explained the bouquets of flowers from loyal customers and at one point, another customer ran up to the owner’s wife and took a selfie with her(she was slight startled and handled it with grace). This was my go to place for friendly, affordable, fast and simple Thai cuisine. It’s a family owned business and they were always accommodating to tailor dishes for my dad’s health related reasons. I hope they re-open soon. In the interim, stay tuned to their website for updates.

I’m so sad. Tonight is the last night for TJ2. They’re closing shop after today because they didn’t renew their lease. New building owner. Higher Rent. Unaffordable. I had to stock up on great Thai food before they closed. Got: Green papaya salad(wow this is spicy!) Ground chicken with sauteed eggplant and basil(one of my favorite dishes) Pineapple friend rice(sort of a take from Hawaiian pizza) Everything tasted so good! I’m looking forward to TJ2’s next incarnation hopefully in the lower Nob Hill neighborhood near me. We love you!

Reviews like these are hard to write because I don’t feel strongly enough about the place one way or another. This particular review is about as bland as it gets for a Thai place that really served me up nothing special, nothing horrible, except for their drinks menu. Their wine selection was a little terrible, even for a Thai place. I had trouble stomaching the Pinot Noir I chose. Their mixed drink selection is all based on vodka — you know, a margarita made with vodka at a Thai place. That doesn’t make sense to you? How about if I told you that my girlfriend ordered it for kicks, and ended up with her glass being rimmed with so much table salt that she had to get out a napkin and wipe it off to be able to drink it? It was bizarre. But okay Little Thai — we all know you don’t judge a Thai place on its drinks, so let’s hope you fare better in the food round. Nope. I ordered one of the spiciest dishes on any Thai menu, Krapow with beef. Folks, as I know it, this is a stir-fried dish of beef, onions, and peppers that basically melts my face off when I get it at my favorite places. And seriously, I was thrilled to see it on Little Thai’s menu at all, so points there. However, my krapow was really quite bland. The waitress didn’t ask me for a spiciness level, so I assumed they actually made the dishes listed on their menu as spicy, well, SPICY. Not to be. It wasn’t tasteless or bad, it just wasn’t spicy as was advertised. My girlfriend went for one of her old curry standbys, and didn’t seem particularly unhappy or thrilled either. Again, it was just kinda like«yeah, this is okay, probably better than I can make at home.» The prices are fair, especially for the neighborhood(hard to find anything really in the $$ range nestled in-between Russian and Nob hills), and the service was friendly and attentive, bringing us food and water promptly. Again, nothing bad here, but nothing to write home about either.

Mouse! That’s what I saw today during dinner! Yea the food is good the service is good but to have a mouse running around while I’m trying to start eating is just plain disgusting. I was so grossed out we tried getting a refund because we hardly touched the food. They said no. Then when we left they dimmed the lights. Gross gross gross gross trying not to throw up right now

One word summary — flavorless. It is amazing this restaurant manages to produce such tasteless bland Thai food with the copious amount of MSG addition. There was so much MSG that all three people in my dining party woke up with throbbing headaches like we pounded too much tequila — we didn’t even drink! The papaya salad has no taste, not tangy nor spicy, and the shrimp was definitely not fresh. The pumpkin curry and green chicken curry are both watering and bland, we ask for spicy, it was flavorless. The only passable dish is the chicken larb salad, this one at least had flavor. Will never go back. They are so many other great Thai options in the City, Ler Ros or Thai Idea or Sai Jai, some within blocks of this place — try one of them instead.

The food is delicious but Don’t order delivery, takes more than 2.5 hours. Ordered at 9:27 on grubhub and got it at 11:09 and it was cold.

Little Thai is simply the best Thai Anywhere in the city of San Francisco. I have literally hopped on a train from Salt Lake City JUST to have a duck salad(or two) at Little Thai. They recently changed the name to J2 Thai but it’s still the same family run place. Forget parking, this is San Francisco but hop in a cab and tell them Polk at Broadway(southwest corner) and get ready to enjoy one of the best(and affordable) Thai dinners. I especially like the duck salad that I mentioned and the Po Tak is plentiful with seafood and a perfectly spicy broth.

I won’t retract my previous review as dining in truly was a delicious treat! I ordered pad thai to go the other day and let me tell you: it was a very different story! There were maybe 10 noodles in a tiny to go container which were oily and slimy. I paid extra for shrimp and was given maybe 3. I was still starving after eating! Was such a tiny portion, should not be charging $ 10! Also, when I went to pick it up, I noticed bins of dirty dishes with food still on them sitting«behind the curtain» so to speak. There is only one place dirty dishes should be and that is in a kitchen! Not in a bin on the floor where people are eating… This experience turned me sour and I won’t return.

Decent neighborhood place… Some dishes were good — pad kee Mao, Penang curry. The basil chicken was too salty, and steak dish needed some extra flavor Good standby, but stick to the basics.

please don’t believe the one star reviewers! They don’t know a good thing when it hits them! or they suck at ordering! delivery on a Sunday night came über fast, friendly, and food was piping hot! you cannot miss the(shrimp) «T2J Delight»(potstickers, really more like gyoza) with the peanut sauce!!! super yummy and light. i also got the coconut vegetable soup! normally thai restaurants skimp out and only give you a pint, but here I got a whole quart of this amazing, sweet, spicy, tangy joy! I love how you can choose what type of noodles you want(rice, egg, udon, or umm something else!) I got the egg noodo tofu pad thai and the«medium» was very very very spicy! i mixed the leftover noodles into my soup and it was amazing! p. s all this was only $ 23 with tip!!! bottom line. this place rules for thai food! best i’ve had in San Francisco in the 5 years and 4 different neighborhoods that I’ve lived here!

Ordered take out off of Seamless. Food arrived hot(soup still steaming). My papaya salad with shrimp had the perfect amount of spice. Coconut chicken soup was rich, panaang curry was also decent. I’ll order from here again

Worst thai food ever! How can someone screw up thai cuisine i wonder! We ordered the basic — spring rolls, duck fried rice and chicken panang curry. The spring rolls were soaked in oil, duck fried rice the saltiest ever and panang curry simply bland with no taste of coconut creaminess. Hated the food. Never coming back again since there are so many other Thai places around with much better quality of food.

I love this place. Not only is it right by my house, which makes it convenient for takeout, but the food is delicious and the portions are huge. My favorites Crab green curry. They do NOT skimp out on the crab. Hefty portions of the other veggies inside too. Pad see ew. standard dish — but they do it right.

I don’t think ‘mundane’ is a compliment toward any Thai restaurant worth its salt in this town, but that’s the first word that came to my mind as I was eating the food here. Even though I ate everything on my plate like any good middle-aged boy does with portion control issues, the quality just doesn’t stand out for me or Jamie W. We went there upon my suggestion after he got his«Save Polk Street» T-shirt at Cheese Plus. We don’t know what the acronym T2J means, but I think we can live with the mystery. Inside it looks like the type of place you would find on Koh Samui probably next to a big chain hotel and an army of tuk-tuks(photo: ). The menu is pretty extensive(photo: ), and even though we were peckish, nothing was all that alluring to us. We started with the $ 7.95 plate of Stuffed Mushrooms, which didn’t strike us as particularly Thai but they were festooned with cilantro, so we bit. They were filled with minced shrimp and chicken that frankly turned into a generic pulp that was put under the broiler. It came with a bowl of «homemade sauce» which tasted more like a thousand-island dressing(photo: ). For our entrees, we both ordered the T2J Garlic Noodle plates. Mine was $ 9.95 and came with pieces of Roast Duck as well as slices of cucumber and tomato on the side(photo: ). The duck portion appeared paltry to me, and the noodles were on the oily side. Jamie went full gonzo with the $ 17.95 «special» of Fresh Crab which struck both of us as severely overpriced for the amount of lump crab meat served, even if it did come with some sauteed mixed vegetables(photo: ). Overall, dinner here was a definite meh compared to the likes of Marnee Thai or Lanna Thai. Next time I’m around Nob Hill searching for some savory garlic noodles, I’m more likely going to take my Clipper Card out and ride the 19-line back to Little Saigon where I can get a tastier plate at Pagolac or even Red Crawfish. FOOD — 2 stars… mundane Thai… unfortunate AMBIANCE — 3 stars… tropical island motif SERVICE — 2.5 stars… rather quiet TOTAL — 2 stars… so what does T2J stand for… oh never mind

II stopped in T2J for lunch after a short walk. Don’t look like much from the outside but serves passable Thai. Far from being anywhere never the best, it’s certainly not the worst. I had the Pad Prig Khing, pork & green beans in curry paste. Not bad, but nothing memorable. I ordered spicy and it wasn’t, green beans were over cooked. Yet it still had a decent flavor. Service was just OK. Prices were very reasonable. Given its location in downtown San Francisco, you can do better. 3 Stars.

This place has to be the most authentic Thai place I’ve been to! The Pad Thai is the best I’ve ever had. Their crab fried is what I ALWAYS order. It’s very fragrant and they’re pretty generous on the amount of crab. I also love their Tom Kha soup because it’s something I’ve never experienced before! It’s spicy, sour and sweet! Everything here is extremely tasty!

I love Thai food and I thought T2J was just alright. We went for dinner and I had the pad see ew with chicken which is one of my standard orders. The portion was fine and the price was reasonable. $ 9 I think which is a great price for dinner. The pad see ew was pretty good but not amazing. A-okay in my book.

Came in for lunch and ordered Combo #4 — Curry chicken, veggie phad see ew, rice and chicken satay. All I can say about the food is… BLAND! I’m not a very salty eater anyway, but I felt that their curry was watered down. The yellow curry also came with string beans, which was a little bit weird. The chicken they use are small bits and pieces. Veggie phad see ew was so tasteless! It did come with a decent amount of broccoli though. The chicken satay looked like it was steamed with an oily satay sauce poured on top. All lunches comes with a small soup. The soup is the reason for the 1 star. Service was another star. Very quick service. Presentation was very nice, but I’m not impressed by the actual food.
