There were three people working. When we came in there was a line because the credit card machine was broken so the guy had to manually insert the card number. While waiting to order, I was watching the lady make someone’s burrito and she added the rice and beans, but would go to the back to cook the meat and bring it out on the pan and place it on the burrito. I thought it was strange that the stove wasn’t near the prep area, but all the way in the back past the dish washing room. She did wear gloves but never put new ones on after she came out to serve people their food. They do have a free chip station, however it wasn’t appealing after the delivery man was grabbing chips with his hands while he waited for them to sign for the package. The environment felt so strange because it seemed like the process to make the food was ineffective. I decided to check Unilocal for reviews and found out they have a poor health score warning. I decided to look for it but it was nowhere to be found.(Which is illegal bc by law it has to be visible to customers) Overall my impression was bad and I did not want to order any food.

Tried to order a shrimp burrito. Out of shrimp. Next tried to order a torta. Out of the bread. No chili verde for our nachos. Should have walked out right there but I was hungry. Food took forever and was bad. Total amateur hour in there. Stay away.

Not only did they mistake«chicken» for«steak», but when they fixed it, I found a piece of steak in it still. Not only did they mistake«2 tacos» for«1 taco», the taco shell was stale ASFUCK. Also asked for rice, but got a salad instead. Need I say more? Ps my boyfriend ordered a burrito and pretty just ate oil & cheese. Happy dieting everyone (Written by an angry girlfriend)

I have no idea why this place is never crowded but I’m not complaining. They have really good carne Asada. I enjoyed the tacos and nachos. Chips were a little stale but that didn’t stop me from enjoying. This place is a hidden gem.

They closed and reopened so I gave it a second shot. They took down the posters of the near naked ladies and the night I was there, the big screen TV was on and a musical group was setting up to play. I ordered the carnitas burrito again. Once again, they went to the back of the house to heat up the meat(in the microwave?). The carnitas had an odd texture and they tasted odd. Once again, there were bits of fat mixed in the with meat. The rest of the burrito was fine. I do like the salsa bar. They have fresh authentic salsas and ‘authentic’ chips.

I really like this place. I am not usually a fan of Mexican food but this place tastes fresh and healthy :) All the people that work there are really nice too and it’s a great addition to the neighborhood: D

Taqueria Dos Amigos has such a nice environment. The owners seem like genuine, hard working people that really care about their customers and community. The music that they had playing the last hour I have been sitting here has reminded me of my upbringing. I think the food could be a little better, more fresh, but it seems that the lack of really fresh food is due to the fact that this place is pretty quiet, with regular but infrequent customers. I hope Taqueria Dos Amigos has a long and successful time here in the Inner Sunset and I highly encourage anyone with Mexican cravings to try this place out and support this great business. I’m sure it will improve as our support improves.

Updated review. This place went downhill fast. I stopped going when I noticed their health score was in the sixties. They closed for several months and recently reopened with a new look and slightly improved food only to be shut down by the health department. Never again!

HUGE portions of good food. Nice people. The taco salad can easily fill up 2 people. Since August, this has improved dramatically

Friendly service and ridiculously large portions of good food at a reasonable price. Considering this is place is in the sunset, you can’t find much better Mexican food at a casual-night-out price than this.

First visit on a Sunday night, 5 pm, with the family. No one inside but, living in the neighborhood, decided to give it a try.(Admittedly low) expectations blown away! Kids got carne asada taco plates. They loved ‘em! Came with what appeared to be homemade refried beans, rice, and sour cream. Huge portions, they could definitely split a plate next time. Wife got pollo asado enchiladas verde. Also delicious and huge portion. I got pollo asado burrito. Family shared an order(very generous portion for $ 4.25) of guacamole that was fantastic. Complimentary and solid chips/salsa bar including pickled jalapeños. Beer and wine available(I had a pacifico). Very reasonably priced. All in all, excellent first experience! I encourage others in the ‘hood to give this place a try! Let’s support the local biz and help these guys stick around for a while!

To say the least I was skeptical. Good Mexican food in the Inner Sunset? Well, I though why not give it a try. I lived in the neighborhood for over 10 years and always want to give our local businesses a try before giving them my verdict. What’s the verdict? This is place awesome! I’ve been here twice and the food has been delicious. Granted I only tried their chicken and carnitas tacos. But the quality and amount of food they give you is definitely best bang for the buck. They have a chips/nachos and salsa bar that is freshly chilled and clean! The owner and wait staff are super friendly. This place has won me over. Double Bueno!

This is a post-renovation review of the restaurant. From reading past review, it looks like they’ve improved their menu quite a bit. The bottomless chips and salsa bar is enough to merit a return. The chips appeared house-made, and the salsas were spicy and full of fresh flavor. The tacos were also delicioso – I tried the grilled fish, pollo asado, and carne asada. My favorite was the fish taco, but all were great. They basically give you as much meat as there is tortilla. The girl’s burrito was big but only okay. I’d recommend the tacos over the burritos. The food overall was a bit pricier than comparable places. Finally, the lady who took our order was a bit slow and unfamiliar with the menu; however, she was so sweet and kind that neither of us minded at all. The restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived, but it filled up as the night progressed.

NEWLYREOPENEDASOFAUG2015 — FULLYREMODELED — FOODMUCHBETTER! Deducted 1 star — last 2 times I’ve tried to go 06OCT157pm and 07OCT151pm it was closed with no notice. I hope the flaky hours of the previous incarnation aren’t starting up again. People call in sick/Family stuff happens — just put a note on the door! I previously gave this place a deservedly harsh review, but they’ve changed their tune and so have I. The interior is completely transformed, no more leftover Russian grocery store weirdness, it is now a true and proper taqueria with the prep area in the front, booths, tables, and the salsa bar remains(but the salsa is SO much better than it used to be!) The service was super friendly and fast, my burrito wasn’t excellent, but it was absolutely decent and tasted of fresh ingredients. Salsa bar chips were fresh and don’t taste like they came out of a bag. The new interior is light and airy and really pleasant. If you live in the neighborhood you really should try this place again, it is so much better than it used to be.(the prices have gone up a little, but I think with the changes in min. wage in SF, the overhead of running a restaurant with rents the way they are, it is justified)

Goin down hill. Arrived for lunch. Out of cheese… Really?! They are a block from a supermarket. Can’t try less hard than that.

Their retail space used to be a Russian Market and while they have made some cosmetic upgrades. the interior is really empty. Looking inside you see just an empty shell really. There’s always someone inside though. I recently got a «Jumbo» carnitas burrito. Overall it was good, though lacking a little in flavor. The meat was nicely cooked with crispy bits.

Came on Halloween and tried their Super Quesadilla to-go. The order took a while but they had plenty of seats and tables to wait. Upon entering, I was a little thrown off by the emptiness of the store/restaurant. Waited near the front counter for a minute or so until this nice lady came out to take my order with her cute daughter. 10 minutes later and my quesadilla came out. The nice gentleman handed me my neatly wrapped quesadilla and I was on my way. It wasn’t the most impressive quesadilla that I’ve eaten but the flavors were all there. No complaints, it was good. I’m not sure if I’ll stop by again unless I’m in the neighborhood and craving a burrito but I’m assuming the people who helped me were the owners. They are extremely friendly and nice. So +1 for that.

It kills to to reduce my previous review but this place has SERIOUSLY gone downhill FAST, since opening a little more than a year ago. When I first started hitting up this place regularly, I couldn’t believe I had finally found a suited taqueria in the sunset that prides themselves on making«authentic mexican food» And it was pretty damn good my first few moths of going there(I’m telling you, I frequent this place a lot, I know what I’m talking about. Recently it seems they’re never open(.even on the weekends, for whatever reason) and when they ARE open, they have maybe a quarter of their menu available… It pains me to rip this place, but they had SOOO much potential when they first opened, I find myself wondering whats been going on there… I will say that the one silver lining that keeps me coming back is one of the owners(the cute — usually smiling lady, who seems to be ALWAYSTHEREWORKING! Even when i’m sure she shouldn’t have to. Its a shame she has to be there with her kids on some days, but I admire her work ethic! She’s always polite and NEVER has a problem remaking my order if they flubbed up… I like that! It seems like they’ve had recent issues with employee turnovers, which you can easily tell, screws up the flow of things when the owner has to be the one taking orders. It shouldn’t be like that and I wish they were doing better at the moment. The final straw for me today was when I went in(TODAY — while the owner wasn’t there) and decided to order 2HARDSHELL Tacos wit only; meat, cheese, & lettuce(I know, I know, big time gringo) and since they’ve messed up my orders more than a handful of times in the past, I made sure to repeat my order JUST to make sure she heard me properly. Apparently she didn’t, and proceeded to lather my tacos with the works… I know I’m picky but when I state my order twice(a simple order at that!) you’d think there wouldn’t be any problems, but again, this has happened before. Maybe its just me because I can be picky, but I’m not gonna go with that excuse for them… …So when I decided to bring it back and tell her the mistakes she made on my order, and how MUCHMEATWASLACKING from the tacos looked(i’m not kidding, I regret not taking pictures now). She then accused me of eating some of the Carne Asada before bringing it back. This was what got my blood boiling, because as someone who orders from them atl east 3 – 4 times a week… I felt extremely disrespected and vilified. Thing is, the tacos reallyyyy were lacking on the meat, so for her to think I ate some, made the situation that much better, because I know I didn’t so the look on her face when she examined the sorry tacos was priceless. I wouldn’t have gone through all that trouble to lie about it, lol… It IS just a couple tacos after all. Plus…WHYWOULD I DOTHATIFMYGOALWASTOMAKE A POINT??? (i’m not the bad guy rooting for them to fail… I use to LOVE this place it just kills me to see them go downhill so fast) Like I said, I use to love this place, and after growing up in the Sunset my whole life, I was stoked to have finally found a decent taqueria that wasn’t all the way in the mission. But the recent decline in their food QUANTITY and QUALITY has left this fan hanging on by a thread… I wont give up on these guys just yet, because like I said, the owners honestly seem aware and concerned with the current state they’re in, not to mention I don’t believe they are the direct problem, but who knows? To be honest, at the moment, the Owners are probably the only thing keeping this place alive… they’re good people, and I hope for best for they’re business in the long-run! I really do so I’ll give them some time to hopefully get things booming again, but when I order a taco and you guys tell me you’e OUTOFCHEESE… something is seriously wrong Common guys, you can do it! step it up :) …if you need extra help… IM A GRINGO, BUTIMAVAILABLETOWORK… haha **ALSO…IFYOUGLANCEATTHERECENTREVIEWSTOTHERIGHT, YOU“LLSEE A TRENDOFPEOPLEAGREEINGWITHTHAT I’M SAYING.* …And that I’m not just some crabby customer

Maybe it’s just that I have never had«authentic» mexican food. I’m pretty sure burritos are not authentic mexican food. Anyway, inner sunset doesn’t really have good mexican food, so I was excited when I saw this place open. It’s slightly a market, that also sells mexican food. I ordered a burrito and a ceviche taco. There are free chips and salsa in the back which is nice. The burrito was decent. Very messy to eat, but also not super big. I like spinach tortillas too which they have. Their taco was a bit confusing for me. Oh, first, they didn’t have ceviche, so I just got a regular fish taco instead. All the stuff is piled onto a taco, which is completely flat, and hard/crunchy. I’ve never seen this before and perhaps this is what authentic mexican food is?! This place was just okay in flavour. Still not sure how I feel about this place. Might give it a second try when the time comes, but I’ll give it an average rating, because that’s what this place is to me so far. It didn’t disappoint, but didn’t exceed any expectations. No recommendations and will return to try sometime… Oh, the lady was nice, but also too eager to clear my table. I was sitting alone, and this interrupted my eating. Please what to clear my table AFTER I’m done eating. Thank you.
