I ordered papaya milk tea, and they used powder instead of fresh fruit, which tasted disgusting. It was like drinking sugary artificial papaya-flavored powdery milk. My boyfriend got the guava green tea which was way too sweet and too artificial-tasting. The self-serve bar would be a good concept if the quality of the drinks were better.

Interior: décor is nothing special, but there’s seating available as well as a TV playing for entertainment. I always appreciate when there’s seating available to ‘boba and chill’ with friends. There’s no particular feel of an ambiance here, meh. Service: the employees are nice, nothing special to point out either. Drinks: toppings are self-serve and free up to a certain line that’s specified on the cup. The tea is average, but it’s cool that you can self-serve your own toppings. The menu is pretty diverse with is a plus, and there are snacks available too! For the quality of these(ultimately average) drinks, the prices are decent. Overall this place isn’t a favorite, but I haven’t had a bad experience with the place(yet). I’d definitely come here if all other places happened to be closed or something, but I wouldn’t ever come here on my own with a craving for it. With other boba places available on the same street, at least it’s not the worst place to come by.

REALLYBAD boba! Extremely mushy and has a weird plasticky after taste. Yuck. On top of that, their self serve boba bar is just disgusting. Uncovered and out in the open. Ugh. So gross and very unsanitary.

So this is the Teaway that has seats and everything(apparently the third Teaway on Irving and the only one left since the first one and the Express closed!) Pretty spacious and at the corner btw 24th and 25th I believe. I came here on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn’t too crowded. Probably because it was cold, but cool that you can turn(I think) any drink here hot! If you want, you can even ask them to make it lukewarm so you don’t burn your tongue. The concept of this is you put your own toppings(jellies/boba) and fill it to a certain line — anything past that they’ll charge you another 75 cents but I don’t know how strict they’re will the policy, really. The taste here is pretty bland or maybe because I made my milk tea hot, the tea flavor wasn’t there as I remembered :(Regardless, I’d come back here again since its so cheap. I got 1 large and 2 small drinks for about $ 10. OHP. S. — CASHONLY! There’s a Wells Fargo across the street if anything.

I used to being called«Teaway Girl» since I always have Teaway every time I go to work. I’m pretty sad they’re not as busy anymore since Tpumps, Sharetea, and Purple Kow. But this place has good tea and also you can get a lot of different toppings.

A milk tea pillar. Tea Way is one of the milk tea veterans, and quite possibly the longest standing milk tea spot in the Sunset. Offering a wide variety of drinks, toppings, and a few snacks, Tea Way is a place to go at any time of day when your craving a little something. Friendly staff and a clean space help make this a place to hangout. Located on a street with plenty of Asian snacks and drinks, Tea Way offers variety at a decent quality, something that is quite hard to balance. It’s either Jack of all trades or Master of one, but Tea Way somehow finds its balance right in the middle, securing its spot in the Sunset.

I have been a Teaway frequenter for the past 3 years however in the past year, the boba and the milk tea have been tasting worse and worse each time I go back ever since they switched managements. Teaway used to be a great place where I could get okay quality boba for cheap but now everything is overpriced and they don’t even put any effort into making their boba the right way. I ordered my usual, a Thai Milk tea, and I had to cringe when I took the first sip. The tea tasted like melted vanilla ice cream(not in a good way) and the boba was extremely soft and had absolutely no flavor in it whatsoever. To be honest, the only reason I finished the drink instead of throwing it away was because I didn’t want to feel like I had truly just wasted $ 3.85. The reason why I’m not giving Teaway one star is because I hope and believe that they will be able to turn themselves around and start serving the great boba they used to make.

Really, really bad boba. I ordered my usual, mango green tea with boba, and what I thought was weird was that they have me a cup and the boba was self-serve. If you go over the line, they charge you an extra 75 cents. I ordered the fried squid balls and I only received 6 pieces for $ 4.25! Wtf? Oh, and it’s cash only. Suggestion #1: put how many pieces on the menu. Suggestion #2: make your boba better.

Finally got around to checking this place out right around the corner. Among the many many other boba milk tea shops popping up all over Irving, this Teaway has held its place. You can make a custom dessert crêpe for $ 4.50 by choosing a flavor base(original, strawberry, chocolate), add fresh fruit, whipped cream, and ice cream for an extra $ 2.25. I got a strawberry-based crêpe with fresh strawberries, whipped cream, and cookies n crème ice cream(totaled about $ 7). I got a little turned off when I saw them just add some sort of strawberry syrup to the crêpe mix, but the end product turned out delicious! They weren’t cheap on the serving of fresh fruit, whipped cream, OR ice cream, which is great considering the price tag. I don’t know if it’d be worth it to get it without the ice cream, but I’ll definitely be coming back for more. I also tried the coconut cheesecake shake with basil seeds, which was more like a slush than a shake. Not enough flavor or creaminess as I was expecting.

This place is awesome. I had heard numerous stories about this place and their milk tea and today was finally the day for me to see for myself. There is nothing to be saddened about when you come to this place. Immediately upon entrance, literally one leg in the door, I am greeted by 3 different people. That is always the indicator that this is going to be good experience. As I walked in I noticed all the beverages listed on the wall by category. That is another helpful resources for those who may be new to TEAWAY. When I finally got the counter I was ready to order my THAITEA. I looked at the sizes and noticed that they have a large size and then a JUMBO size. I like the JUMBO size very much but because my bladder can only had so much at a time I went with the large. I was also instructed that the boba is a self serve but that I should not go over the pink line at the bottom of the cup. Not to mention, there are several signs that inform customers to not put to many toppings in the drinks because it may cause the drink to come out not tasting very good. After filling my cup with some boba I then handed the come off to the cashier. She then finished making the tea. She was very polite and kind. That is another positive for me. Great customer service from all the staff. When I finally got my tea I was ready to drink but I decided to wait until I got home. When I got home I dove right into my drink. Ahhhhhhhh… great…good…flavorful…thirst quenching… need I say more. This place knows how to prepare Thai Tea the RIGHTWAY. I cannot comment about their other drinks but between the customer service and quality of my drink I would would definitely recommend this place to others.

Teaway, where you make the drinks your own way. Is that really the way to go? Seems like it here! So you’ve got plenty of options here. You’re the one in charge, so you’ve got a responsibility not to screw up your own drink. If you put in too much boba, then whose fault is that but your own? Anyways, everything here felt super average. Other than the whole fact that you can feel like a big kid putting the boba in your cup yourself, nothing stands out about Teaway. I I do like that they have a slightly wider variety of snacks to eat here. The crepes and ice cream are pretty cool and unique when it comes to places that focus mainly on tea drinks. Although it really is just diversifying the ways in which you can intake sugar. I’m usually not a fan of these self-serve kinda boba shops. I always end up either putting in way too much tapioca, or far too little. Call me lazy, call me dumb, call me maybe, but I’m pretty terrible at adding my own tapioca into these cups. This was a pretty chill spot though. Definitely wouldn’t mind dropping by again if I was in the area!

Teaway is a good place if you dont want to wait in line at the other more popular tea places in the area, and they have seating! They used to have this location and two express teaways on the same street, but both of them shut down. The quality of tea is decent, and the perk is that you self serve toppings which with comes included in the drink price(there is a fill line for max the amount of toppings you can put). My fav toppings here are probably the lychee jelly and mango pudding. The costs have gone up 25cents for all drinks, now prices are $ 3.25 for most small sizes. I was really disappointed in the price increase because the small size is almost half the amount you get at other places for the same price, and the quality does not justify the increases. I think I’ll come here if I’m really craving extra toppings, but other than that I would pass.

I put one star because I HAVE to. This place deserve NO star. Rude service. Ice cream display was dirty and ice cream was melted! How can you think this is okay this serve?! Popcorn chicken was ok. Nothing special. Our kid need to use the bathroom really bad but was turn down. She is 3 years old. No restroom for a paying customer? A child at that. Wow! Will never come back. Disgusting people and food.

Generic bubble tea joint. You can fill up with whatever toppings you want before they pour the tea. Lots of topping options — boba, various jellies, taro pudding, etc. The honey kumquat is always my go to and it was pretty good.

Teaway! The way to go if you are cray about toppings of all colors and textures – from classic chewy boba to festively rainbow jelly to taro pudding in a dreamy shade of purple. I normally don’t get toppings, but my Asian upbringing necessitates me to get my money’s worth of complimentary toppings at Teaway. It seems that every time I come here, I make progressively worse decisions. 1) My first time here I was very happy with the hot ginger tea: it was deliciously gingery, made even better by my guilty pleasure of taro pudding. 2) The second time, I had the hot jasmine milk tea, which was alright but very creamer-y and the tea quality was mediocre. 3) The third time, I got the matcha latte special(there was a discount… darn Asian upbringing habits compelling me to go to Teaway for free toppings and subsequently deciding to order something for the $ 0.25 discount). It turned out a very un-matcha-esque swamp green with bits of brown that I wasn’t sure was oxidized tea or burnt sugar. Tea away D:

This place is average for milk tea and the popularity of this place is due to the toppings you can pick and chose to put in your own drink. This is one of the larger locations(and I believe they have closed down the other Teaways on this street) and often gets packed during the day. I usually come here at night since it closes really late, but hate that they only take cash. They use to have their own cups, but now resort to regular clear plastic cups which the workers draw their own line on the cup of where to fill the toppings. The line management here is lacking since most of the time, I’m either waiting to add my toppings but can’t do so since no one is there to fill the cups with teas for the other customers that are waiting. I do, however, love that they have one of the best fried mini octopus! It’s a shame they only give a certain amount(two sticks) instead of other places that would give a bag full.

My boyfriend thought I would like this boba shop because customers are able to put in their own toppings. I am a huge fan of egg pudding so I was really looking forward to trying this place. However, I was extremely disappointed when I received my drink. I ordered a simple milk tea and it was not up to par with any of the boba places in the OC area. I was not able to taste the tea part of the drink at all!!! I felt like I was drinking water. The egg pudding was not flavorful either. I also ordered a side of popcorn chicken and they further disappointed me. I am a huge fan of sauce and they did not have any sweet and sour sauce. When I asked for it, the employee seemed like she had no idea what I was talking about. I thought the shop needed to be a bit more livelier. They had a filming crew in their shop which took up most of the tables and chairs. They also did not greet us when we first entered or helped us pick out our drinks. At most places, they usually offer popular drinks if they see that guests are taking awhile to order. We also did not get a goodbye greeting. A smile would have been nice. The one bright side was that two drinks and a popcorn chicken only costs about $ 10 so we did not waste that much money. I ended up giving my boyfriend the popcorn chicken and threw away half of my drink. I do not think I’ll be coming back any time soon.

This place it great for a quick Boba fix. They have a large menu and you can pretty much get whatever kind of drink you want. I love how you can put whatever you want into your cups, boba, jelly, aloe, etc. There is a limit as to how much, but it’s still a good amount. Their service is always pretty quick and though, not the nicest, you’re in and out. It’s not the cleanest… but it’s not so dirty that I won’t go there. The price is really good, only $ 2.50 for a regular!

Average boba tea for a very cheap price. The regular size is $ 2.50 and the big is $ 3 I am thinking? For both, you can fill up however much boba, jelly, and pudding as you want UPTOTHEBLACKLINE. You will get charged $ 0.75 more if you fill more than that. The tea itself is pretty regular, nothing too special. But want pushed me to give it a four star is the variety of different filling you can get. It is a pretty creative way to customize boba for a relatively cheap price.

Not my favorite boba place but its honestly not the worse. Its slightly better than quickly’s but not by much. Back in the day when they first started out I really liked this place. But since i have discovered other boba places that taste better, I haven’t actually come here in the past couple of years. My go to flavor has always been almond milk tea. Almond milk tea: 3⁄5: Has a good almond flavor but its pretty sweet. They need to tone down on the sweetness but i think that most of their milk teas already have a pre-made base. I like how you can still put whatever toppings you want in the cup, its just that the boba is really disappointing because its clumpy and overcooked. Overall, if this place was the only one open late at night then i would come here, but other than that i probably won’t be back unless my friends or bf want to come here.
