I like this place for how close it is to where I live, but the food I’ve tried thus far really isn’t all that great. It’s kind of like Denny’s but with more options. Hash browns are usually pretty good, but all their egg dishes I can do a better job making at home. You will definitely leave here full though.

Kind of surprised, went for early breakfast this morning, and the place was a lot cleaner than I recalled from visits in years past.(Did they do a remodel or something?) anyway, your basic diner, very affordable and typical food, not a special environment but clean and functional.

This is the closest restaurant to where we live, so that’s a big plus. Other than that, very mediocre food, just an okay atmosphere, and good prices(not super cheap, especially for the quality of food you get, but it’s alright).

I didn’t expect too much from this diner, but it didn’t even rate the three stars that I saw when we checked it out on Unilocal earlier today! We ordered typical diner food… the tuna melt(nasty-tasting tuna), the fried chicken platter(my friend said that it tasted like it had been fried twice and was tough/dry inside) was served with what looked like the mixed vegetables that used to be served in TV dinners from the 1970s, the turkey sandwich was okay(except that they only made it with American cheese), and the milkshakes were overpriced(at $ 6.50) for the quality. My meal was the best of the four. House Burger. Generous beef patty, swiss cheese, and good mushrooms. Maybe we should’ve ordered breakfast?

This place is not good. And to be clear, I am not even comparing it to other Ocean Beach food offerings, but simply judging it by what you would expect from a diner. You would expect a waffle with a bit of crisp, eggs with a bit of fluff, and bacon that has not gone limp from sitting in a puddle of burnt, oddly flavored grease. But you will receive none of those things here. This diner is beyond hopeless.

This place is great. Good was filling and big portions. I got the Bulls Special. I came here during the NCAA tourney. Stay for over an hour just hanging out and watching the games while I eat. Food came out fast and the service was good enough. I just wanted to watch the games and eat in peace and that I did. Would definitely come back.

Prior to coming here, friend explained to me that this place was owned and ran by Asian people who make diner food. Wait, WOT? Anyways, I ordered the French toast, which came with two eggs and a side of bacon and added on a side of hash browns with the request that they are extra crispy. The food came out really fairly quick and I immediately started digging into the toast. After slicing into the first piece of bread, I knew it was going to go down hill from there. As everyone knows, when you make French toast, you soak each side of the bread in a mixture of egg before tossing it in the pan. For some reason, my French toast had a fat layers of egg on it, as in, it looked like scrambled egg on my toast! It suppose to be light coated in an egg batter but this was literally cooking in the egg batter instead. The hash brown and other sides that came with the French toast was pretty good. However, it shouldn’t be that hard to mess up on that and in my opinion, French Toast! My friends really like this place but I’ll probably avoid it the next time I’m in SF.

Sat and waited for 15 minutes staring awkwardly at the servers who were just chatting away before they finally came and helped me. When I finally got my food it was disgusting. The quality was so poor, the ingredients weren’t even cooked fully, and who even knows what else was in it. I walked home feeling like I was going to puke and now i’m laying in bed wanting to die. Totes gross.

I’ve had their breakfasts and a couple of different burgers and they all have been great and affordable. The milk shakes are solid, pancakes waffles are too. It’s definitely worth the trip over if you’re in the neighborhood. I’ve only been in when it’s off peak hours so I can’t comment on wait times. The service is very friendly and helpful. There’s a tv to watch news and current events. Most items in the menu are less than 10 dollars so that’s a plus. Their coffee is standard but flavorful, not watered down like most diners. They have a wide menu and are happy to take subs or special requests. Cheers!

One of my favorite spots to beat the boozers prior to their awakening from the dead(Saturday evening shenanigans.) I’m an early bird, which explains another reason as to why I am not a huge fan of dating anyone who sleeps past 10:00 am. I am usually up and about around 5 – 6:00 am. For those who sleep until noon, that’s 6 hours of time I was able to do something other than sleep. Besides, once you are dead, the number of hours on your back will surpass the number of hours you spend vertical, unless you are interred into a standing tomb or cremated. A good friend and I always get together here for brunch catch-ups and of course, for the short walk down to Ocean Beach after stuffing ourselves. Service for the early birds has been and is one of the other great reasons as to why I frequent this place. There are less people and my coffee is always full. The menu is pretty extensive but once you get a favorite, why change what works? I always order the All Meat breakfast that comes with 3 pieces of bacon, 3 sausage links, a small slice of ham, 3 eggs, hash browns, toast, and a 3-stack pancake. In addition, I always order a cup of coffee because I am a fan of medium roast, none of that liquid oil for me. Please note the food is here is not fancy. Some of the mid-day meals may come with vegetables that look like they were from the frozen variety but don’t complain. Take your entitled-expectant butt to SOMA or FiDi for those $ 20 side dishes of broccoli rabe or 4 morel mushrooms. This is a diner, not an organic spot. In addition to my typical order, my friend has a big variety of vegetarian options and the veggie omelet came loaded with fresh slices of mushroom, spinach, and tomatoes. Their seafood omelet also came stocked with shrimp and scallops, something unexpected. In a city that is constantly evolving with crashes and unregulated real estate bs, I take comfort spending time in establishments that have not been affected and continue along, doing what they do best: serving locals casual meals all day.

I’ve been coming to bashful bull too forever. I grew up around the corner. Good, friendly service every time. They have the best Oreo shakes ever, and the food is always fast, hot, and delicious. Definitely a sunset fixture.

OMG, PLEASEBEWAREOFTHISPLACE! Dirty, dirty, dirty!!! Dirty silverware, dirty plates, dirty water glasses(that also stink) and dirty, greasy ass food. I can honestly say that we were disquested by this place. We had one bite of our Denver omelette as well as one bite of our waffle. The omelette was filled with partially cooked meat and a pile of grease. I believe that they actually fry their waffles like funnel cake and the strawberries on top were clearly unwashed. We have no words and are so greatful that we left. I would rather pay and walk away than eat and get stuck with food poisioning the remainder of this beautiful weekend. We wish we could rewind and erase this entire experience from our lives. GROSS!!!

There’s not too many mom & pop diners in SF anymore. Bashful Bull is a great local neighborhood diner that offers abundant value(quality food + big portions @ decent prices). My fave: Bull’s Special — 2x eggs, 2x sausages, 2x bacon, 2x biscuits & gravy, 2x pancakes, 1x slice of ham for ~$ 12

It’s been a while since I’ve written a review, but I’m over due! My friend and I went here after an extra credit visit to the SF Zoo(they’re conveniently close by). She checked on Unilocal and saw that they serve wine, so away we went! The food is a great deal, particularly around lunch time. My friend and I each had a glass of wine(for $ 2.95, I believe), and burgers and fries for each of us! Quite the combination lol. They have a lot of interesting foods and a very diverse menu. Burgers AND asian menu items. It has the retro diner/greasy spoon vibe to it, the food wasn’t that great, but it was decent. It’s the kind of place where you try it, but you don’t really come back to if you’re far away. Very reasonable prices, but I probably won’t be back any time soon.

I came here for a Saturday lunch with my bf after we visited the SF zoo. It was basically empty so we were able to sit wherever we wanted. We ordered a blueberry shake, the house burger(burger with bacon, mushrooms and Swiss cheese) and a teriyaki burger with a side of garlic fries. The shake and burgers were delicious. However, the garlic fries tasted fairly plain and were overcooked. I tasted nothing but burnt oil when I ate them and my bf ended up getting a stomach ache shortly after. The front end behind the counter bugged me a little because it was cluttered(I wish I had a picture for proof). Also, the bathrooms need a DEEP cleaning and the server talks to you as they are walking away. Like dude, can you stand still and talk? Jeez.

This place is fine. It’s not the best diner, and it’s far from the worst. Breakfast was good, good portions, quick service, friendly staff, and there was no wait at 1pm on a Sunday. I got a Denver omelette with hash browns(which were awesome) and a glass of OJ. It cost about 13 bucks for both but I only finished half so I’ll have nice leftovers for tomorrow morning.
