I’ve been taking piano lessons here for just over 6 months, and it’s been a wonderful experience. Andrew is a kind and patient teacher, and has helped break me of many of the anxieties developed through years of childhood piano lessons. It’s great to come back to piano as an adult and get a new perspective on playing piano and music. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my lessons, and plan to continue there as long as they’ll have me!

Please let me say up front that this review has nothing to do with music lessons but about what I believe is the owner’s business practices. He listed a drum set for sale on Craigslist. My teacher checked out the photos and description and thought it was a good buy. When I got it home and she helped me set it up it was then obvious that he misrepresented the set. Multiple pieces were broken or absent and the set was not in «good» condition as he had stated. I was oblivious at the time I picked it up since I’m new to drumming and told him as such. I attempted to contact him twice to rectify the situation which he did not. He is not a good businessman based on my experience with him. Boo to the owner of The Mark Music Studio!

Echoing another reviewer, I had a great experience using a piano practice room today. The room was bright, clean, spacious, quiet and decorated with instruments and classic LP covers to inspire playing. Andrew was accommodating and responsive making reservations, and welcoming in person. Looking forward to going back.

The Mark Music Studio deserves more than five stars. I should preface this review with the fact that I found out about the Mark Music Studio through an interesting flyer advertising campaign left on my car. I used to play piano everyday and even competed, but stopped after leaving for college and not finding the time, nor the pianos to practice. I decided to do some additional research after finding the flyer and found the Mark Music Studio to be exactly what i was looking for. There are few piano practice rooms in the city and most were out of my way. I emailed Andrew and he responded right away with a very kind message. He offered to reserve a room for me and try out the pianos free of charge. I was unable to make it on a Sunday so Andrew offered a Monday after work instead during a time that was most convenient for me. When I arrived, Andrew greeted me and was very welcoming. He had reserved a room for me with a great piano and i had a blast. The pianos are also great. The studio itself is great – very clean, warm and cozy. After i played for about an hour, Andrew and I spoke and he gave me his cell telling me that anytime I wanted to reserve a room, all i had to do was call or text him. It was also fun listening and watching Andrew teach his younger pupils – he seems very invested in them and a really fun teacher. I really encourage everyone to check this place out.

What can I say? Andrew is the real deal. I came in at 24 years old, as a mediocre guitarist at best, with substandard rhythm and a generally poor ear. I had never played a gig in my life, and was not the most discerning self critic. I had some vague idea about wanting to learn piano, and increase my musical knowledge. I started my musical journey with Andrew as a blind but hopeful student. Within two years of taking piano lessons with Andrew, I had learned to read sheet, played through quite a few classical pieces on piano, started booking my own gigs for my band at legit venues around the city, and started to develop a real musical vocabulary. His lessons have given me real musical confidence, and rounded out my overall comprehension and approach. In addition to being able to provide concrete musical improvement and education, he has a million other qualities. He is a patient teacher, with an excellent sense of humor. He is also honest, but constructive, in his assessments. He will not hold back in what he thinks you are doing wrong, but will help you to refocus your energy. He is also great with practice techniques and developing a great mental approach to learning music. He gets almost zen in his musical philosophy, and it can be contagious. Freaky shit. He’s also great with children, and very accommodating with his schedule. He will go the extra mile to make sure you get the lessons you or your children need, and will discuss things a parent of a music student can do to provide a complete musical education. The facilities are also swell. Despite being on a bustling street with lots of foot-traffic, they are private, quiet, and clean. Andrew is a stickler for cleanliness. His instruments are also up to par, and the pianos are regularly tuned. His prices are also quite good, compared to other teachers in the area. Really, the only drag in this package is that parking can sometimes be obnoxious. But search a few blocks up the hill, and you’re golden.
