Yes, the beer selection was good. The food was so-so, and the service was pretty terrible. Not only were they slow, but our waiter had an attitude from the moment he showed us to our table. He grew impatient when we asked his opinions on the menu, and seemed to think there was something more important going on than performing his job properly. It was rather strange.

Old Ship is one of the oldest spots in the city. They still provide excellent food. The mix green salad is massive, super fresh(let’s talk about the feta), and a fantastic deal. It’s also small and reality honey

Ordered a Coke with my burger. They brought me an RC Cola. Which is fine if that’s all they have. But if you’re going to substitute what I order, you tell me so before you bring it. Even for an RC Cola, it tasted funny. It was light on syrup and flat. I told them about it. They took it back and brought me an identically crappy one. Ruined the meal. Not coming back.

Great bar to go hang out with friends and co workers. Delicious Reuben sandwich, french fries were good, but way to salty. Good atmosphere

Make sure all of your party are there to get a seat — it fills up fast. I arrived at 11:30 — the place was next to empty on a Wednesday morning. Tip: Try sitting at the bar to wait — I had a good conversation with the bartender and decided to just order. Good service with the bartender and other staff. The bartender was a nice guy with a quick fill of my iced tea. About $ 20 for a solid lunch. Portions were above average(Caesar Salad and fries-hey, don’t judge :-)) and quality was good.

I normally don’t write«these» reviews since they tend to hang around a lot longer than the poor experience. New chef, old burger menu gone. Mutiny. The sliders were charred to a Webber grill briquette crisp and the truffle cheese fries were straight truffle(I did kind of enjoy this, but others may not). The final end note is the mild food poisoning I got the next day which roughly fits the time frame from the visit. Maybe I have a weak stomach, but this gut has survived 2 week trips to SE Asia with plenty of street food. The menu needs work, if they’re no longer going to serve their lengthy burger menu I’d suggest at least having one on the menu. Yes, I mean one full size burger to pay homage to their previous menu full of burger choices. Until next time to the«old old» ship, but sadly I won’t be returning anytime soon.

New chef. Got rid of the burgers that made this place worth visiting. Now serving burnt sliders. Travesty. Anyone know where the old chef went?

I have never been to an establishment before where the waiter does nothing but talk smack. Our waiter, a tall, slender, emphatically flamboyant denizen of SOMA, glided around the restaurant as if he were wearing ice skates. Unsure of how he swooshed from table to table with the grace of Nancy Kerrigan, but within strides managed to spurt out that the food quality could be best described as ‘what you see is what you get’ and that it’s ‘honestly not that good considering our wait staff literally walked out on us last week and this was all we could find.’ Considering it doesn’t take more than a half a brain to fry chicken, we took our chances and braced for impact. In short, the food was pretty horrible. I’d say it was like being clubbed in the knee with a police baton, only this time it wasn’t Nancy Kerrigan’s career that tragically ended but our appetite.

Good service. Caters mostly to the financial district crowd, but is still a friendly place. Lots of history!

This bar is great. Good atmosphere and always have a great time. Also, good location. The old menu was one of our favorites. The bew one is good… Nothing spectacular and doesn’t compare. They’re actually SOOOO different that i would not come back here for to eat but for drinks.

Best veg burger patty i have had in SF. Sweet guy behind the bar. lends a comfy vibe to the place. Love how the bar is in the middle of the space with some tables around. Just like it. Will be back!

I have to say that the bartender at this place was great! He was very attentive and immediately served us at the bar. That being said, I also have to say that the waitress really sucked. She only cleaned a table for us because the bartender asked her to. We were there for more than an hour and the ENTIRE time, she just stood at the bar, checking her phone and flirting with guys. This is NO exaggeration. She is getting paid to just stand and talk. There were tables all around us that had old drinks and trash and none of them were being attended. The bartender had to come around to clean up and offer us another drink, not her. I’d advise the owner/manager of this place to pay a bit more attention to the waitresses they employ. Don’t just hire a pretty face

Oh my yum! Everything we ordered was delicious. We could watch the kitchen from our table and could see the chef taking special care with his orders. My hubby and I split an OSS burger(mushroom and swiss) with a side of garlic fries. The burger was cooked just right and the fries, oh the fries! Fresh grates garlic and parsley. They were actually too garlicy for my husband but I could not get enough! Service was a tad slow but we were in at peak lunch time an they were packed, so I can forgive that a bit.

What a great little bar! This place is always stuffed to the brim witch sharply dressed finance guys donning Patagonia fleece. Fresh off their gigs in FiDi, theses worker bees flock to one of the oldest bars in SF. Old Ship Saloon truly caters to the FiDi crowd and isn’t even open on Saturday and Sunday. We enjoyed a late happy hour/pre-dinner cocktails here. A waitress was quick to serve us and she even found our group a larger table of four. We enjoyed the view of Karl the Fog roll into the city and consume the tip of the Transamerica Pyramid. The atmosphere is great and the service id spectacular. I will certainly be back to try the bar food here– it looked delicious.

Tuesday night, 10:34pm. Already buzzing hard. Some of us popped over to The Old Ship Saloon only after seeing that the bar next door looked like it was full of stuffy old farts. It’s kind of dark and divey inside. I asked my friends if any of them knew what the name was(for Unilocal check-in purposes, of course). A stranger piped up the name and told me it was the oldest bar in SF, created from a shipwreck, or something of that nature. Being slightly tispy and mildly uninterested in the history of a watering hole, I was only half paying attention. Anchor Steam is $ 5.50 a pint, which is a reasonable price. Bartender didn’t seem overly friendly, but at least she wasn’t full of phony niceties. One con: there appears to be only one bathroom, which is shared between all genders. If it’s busy and you’ve been pounding down the booze, you might want to make sure you don’t break the seal too early, if you know what I’m saying. If you’re in need of a chill spot to have a drink on a weeknight, this will do the trick. It’s fairly close to BART, if you’re in need of something in close proximity to public transportation. I’ll give ‘em a 4 because I was in really good company, and I was able to be a little bit rowdy without any evil eye from the staff or patrons.

Did you know that Old Ship Saloon has the most delectable breakfast sandwich? Envision piles of bacon and eggs atop a buttery, flaky biscuit, and I promise it won’t even start to do it justice. This breakfast biscuit will put some serious pep in your step, so power through your Monday mornings with Old Ship. Don’t forget to bring cash!

This was literally 20 feet from our parking space and we walked into a bar that had the boisterous happy hour crowd. I was tying to figure out how this used to be a ship but instead got distracted by all the memorabilia on the walls. We had a conundrum of whether to order fries or the house made onion rings. I asked our server what he liked and he said he loved the onion rings. We also ordered quesadillas and brussels sprouts. The bowl of onion rings was the biggest I’ve seen — it was in a bowl! Onion rings are always on a plate, right? They cut a whole onion, dipped it in spiced batter and served with a side of their homemade ranch. YUM. Calories galore, but YUM! Quesadillas and brussels sprouts were good but nothing out of the ordinary. I would have eaten more but they were too generous with the salt and I couldn’t take it anymore.

This place is amazing. Believe it or not this part of San Fran used to be where the ships would be docked in the 17 and 18 hundreds… miracle of land fill huh? So many ships were stacked up that they would sink the ships… cheaper than bringing them back to their port of origin Well after getting out of a mind numbing meeting and finding out that some evil creature shot a plane full of innocent people out of the sky… I nearly lost my chicken. Closest bar… Old ship. They serve great beers on tap and nice whiskeys as well. Two anchor steam and a shot and I was able to solider on. Food looked awesome!!! Thanks Old ship for being there when I needed you!!!
