The Ramp is one of my favorite places to eat and drink in SF. It has a lively ambience, excellent waterfront location, and friendly staff. The bar is cozy and a great place to watch a game. Outside seating is perfect for brunch, for which they have a stellar menu. I recommend the Crab sandwich! What’s best about this place is its authentic character. Come for Salsa night on Saturday and you’ll see it in action! Lots of regulars, but always welcoming of newbies.

Beer, decent burgers, reasonable fish and chips, and you’re outdoors next to a post-industrial waterfront. The live music is a nice bonus but it’s harder to get in then and you have to pay a cover. Even without live music it’s usually pretty lively, but worth the wait to get a table. On a sunny day, can’t do better. On other days… no good reason to come here as you can’t really sit indoors.

This place is right by mission bay and I love the patio sitting. It’s right by the water and enjoyable on a nice summer day. Found this little gem after doing a race near by. ’ the staff is very welcoming but as a vegetarian not much variety! Great for beer!

My opinion about the ramp hasn’t fluctuated at all in the last 20 years. It’s always been about the waterfront locale…& booze. The food? Sheer afterthought. Is it really any surprise that the food options don’t even begin to compare to the location? No, right? It wouldn’t even be appropriate to say that The Ramp is San Francisco’s version of Sam’s in Tiburon. Sam’s has a nice dining room in addition to their ginormous deck, w that world class view of SF. The Ramp is far more… casual, shall we say? I know that you know what I mean. On a warm day in the city, if you want waterfront dining, you’ve got Pier 23, La Mar, Waterbar, Mission Rock, & The Ramp. Unless you’re counting spots where you can’t actually fall in the water, but you can see it. In which case, you can throw in Beach Chalet & The Cliff House. Okay. You can’t actually«fall in» the water from the patio at Waterbar, since it’s separated from the ocean by the jogging path. But it really wouldn’t take much to just cross that little path & jump in… if you saw fit. My fish & chips here were greasy, over breaded, & flavorless. In addition to being over done. Pass. The spicy chicken sandwich was day & night better, but still nothing to write home about. What was the best thing about having lunch here on the first day of summer? It was the perfect temperature. It was actually warm, without a jacket, & no wind. Dreamy. And, being on the water is always so… fabulous. Then, our waiter. He was great. In other words, everything but the food. Still, they did film a big scene here for Blue Jasmine. But, all I remember is Cate Blanchett ordering her martinis. Did they even eat? On a beautiful day, it’s still an experience & worth it. Just don’t come too hungry. 2 stars.

Went here for a happy hr looking for $ 1 oysters. I found them. They run special on monday and thursday 5pm-7pm. They were okay. Not the best i had. Pretty small and had a faint sea smell. The location is pretty gloomy from outside but is great once you come in. Outdoor sitting rules!

This place is awesome! Venue: amazing. Two separate outdoor patios, outdoor bar, beautiful view of the water. Salsa Saturday: We arrived on a Saturday after brunch, planning to only stay for an hour or so. Next thing I knew, it had been 6 hours. Why? Well starting at 5pm live salsa music and grilling begins. Being the white girl that I am, I’d never salsa danced, but I’m so glad I stuck around. The crowd in attendance was all around friendly, fun, and just genuinely there for a great time. No judgement, no sideways glances, just everyone having a good old fashioned social afternoon. And the grilling was oh so good. We shared a burger, hot dogs and chicken sandwich, and all were spot on. I seriously want to start visiting this spot every Saturday! It was one of the most fun afternoons I’ve ever spent at a bar.

Came on Sunday afternoon — wait was only 5 minutes but the check in staff need to go to customer service school and pull up their pants so it doesn’t look like they did a big poo in it! Food was pretty bad. Burger was dried out, salad was wilty and the fish tasted like water! Not sure what the big hype is about this place!

Had brunch today after Kidney Walk on the Embarcadero. Went because SF Weekly Best of the Bay proclaimed The Ramp BESTDOGFRIENDLYRESTAURANT. We waited 20 mins for a table even tho there were many empties on the patio. They sat us right next to the water, and it was lovely. Weather couldn’t have been nicer. Our waitress took a bit long to bring our waters & coffee. Our meals came out very quickly. Husband had the fish & chips. He said his fries were cold. I had the Ramp Benedict. My eggs were poached perfectly, but were cold. Hollandaise was cold too. Potatoes cold. Our waitress never refilled our coffee or waters. The ambiance was nice, our dog was happy, but we will not go out of our way to return.

I had lunch here with my wife on tuesday 4÷19÷2016 and i must say the food was awesome… for starters we had the calamari and crabcakes… everything was on point down to the flavoring and fried to perfection. the tarter sauce should be renamed«awesome sauce» because it was crackin(in a good way) I rarely order fish and chips because ive had quite a bad experience with them from other restaurants. but mann was their fish n chips screamin(HELLAGOOD) lol ice never ate fish n chips that was that hood n i would reccommend people to order that… YUMMMMYTOMYTUMMY… I would of rated 5 stars but the service sucks. our waiter took forever to bring us beverages and take our payment at the end of our meal… so the young african american girl there helped out alot n she wasn’t even our server… smh n also my raspberry lemonade suck. that should be takin off the menu. tried adding water to it and the sourness and bitterness would just not go away so the young lady gave me a coke lol they still charged me for the lemonade… but its all good though. 4 and a Half

We’ve been here a few times for weekend breakfast. The inside is pretty run-down and has a bit of a musty smell, so I’d recommend coming early on a warm sunny day and sitting outside. It can get very busy though, especially when there’s a Giants game. We got the Corned Beef Hash(always delicious, and it comes in a little skillet – would highly recommend) and the Eggs Benedict(the hollandaise is always a bit too buttery, but it gets the job done).

Dollar Oysters on Thursdays! I try and come here at least one Thursday out of the month for their dollar oysters and other happy hour prices. The service is pretty good, and looking out at the bay is always a nice way to start an evening. Overall, this place is A-OK. I would recommend!

Came here for brunch with some friends and had a great time! The ramp offers plenty of outdoor seating and solid food options for a reasonable price. We started out the menu with a bloody mary and a coffee. Both were great! The Bloody Mary was nicely spiced, not too salty and presented in a pint glass. The coffee was bold but not bitter. For our entrees I had Sam’s Scram with bell peppers, mushrooms, green onions and spinach, and my partner had the Ramp Corned Beef Hash with pasilla peppers, bell peppers, Yukon gold potatoes topped with 2 eggs any style served in a skillet. Both our entrees were enjoyable. I was able to substitute fruit instead of home fries for a couple bucks extra. As other have said, service can be a bit leisurely, but for weekend brunch, I’m never in a hurry. Our order was delivered correctly, and the coffee was refilled promptly. Keep up the good work!

I had the afternoon free and wanted to stop in out of the cold and rain before leaving SF heading south. What a perfect spot. Nice easygoing crowd mid afternoon, almost seemed like regulars. Great service, good selection of beers. I ended up staying a few hours and going from late lunch to dinner. The wings are big and tons of flavor, nice and sloppy. The clam chowder was nice and thick, and it was a good Fresh fish and chips. Was a great harbor in a storm but it also looks like a great place to enjoy a sunny day on the waterfront and I cannot wait to go back!

The ramp is our favorite Sunday go-to brunch spot! The huevos ranchero is my favorite(with a side of avocado). This place is a diamond in the rough. From the entrance you would never guess that’s it a restaurant. once you walk in there is great outdoor seating with a view and indoor seating as well. When we are with a group we love to order a bottle of champagne and all have mimosas! During summer on busy days the service gets a little slow. I don’t mind! :)

I came here with some co-workers mid-afternoon on a Sunday. It wasn’t too busy, but we opted to sit inside since it was a bit cold and windy on the water. The view was of freight ships, so I wasn’t too impressed. There are much nicer restaurant views in SF. The food was just okay. Everyone raved about some crab dish, but they were out, so no one could try it. I got the fish and chips and thought it was just okay. The fish was incredibly greasy so I only ate about half. Their french fries were awesome though. Overall, I wasn’t impressed enough to come back.

Incredible outdoor seating that serves the yummiest burger and Spicy Bloody Mary in town! The guacamole and chips are delicious as well. But, the best reason to come here is for the views, the sun deck and the friendly service. You can make your own mimosas at weekend Brunch. 5-stars hands down for its unique deckside seating area!

App: Clam Chowder — More of a purée than a chowder. Tasted more like Potato Chowder. Very slight hint of clams, but none to be seen. Entrée: Crab Cake Benedict — Great dish. Fresh crab. Def recommend.

I wasn’t sure where the Über driver was taking us in the warehouse district of the Dogpatch. Surely there couldn’t be a restaurant big enough for a birthday party somewhere here, right? Wrong. The Ramp is right one the water and has a huge patio area, so there doesn’t seem to be much wait for a great seat even during the weekend brunch rush. We had some tables put together and looked ridiculous with birthday hats and streamers, but nobody seemed to care and nearby tables were so friendly that they wished the birthday girl when they walked by. They also have a good selection of beers on draft(I had a Kona Longboard) and some fairly tasty bloody marys. Always a plus when you’e set to do brunch right! The thing is, the food is just okay. I had the Huevos Rancheros, and they weren’t anything special. In fact, I was a little weirded out by the rice with frozen peas and carrots, and the slightly flavorless eggs with ranchero sauce underneath them. I also had a couple bites of the Sam’s Scram, which was again quite plain. Oh well, it’s a solid option despite having the mediocre food.

Wow! This is such a cool place. Very Bay Area-ish. This place is a dive bar that takes advantage of the Bay Area weather and geography. It sits right on the wharf. Old wood. Docked boats. Fresh ocean breeze. Gentle waves lapping up the dock. And the largest dry dock in the west coast. It has great scenic views of the east bay and large and small and interesting boats. They have lots of local biers on tap. You can get a flavor of the breweries in the area. I ordered the pork sliders. It was good. Maybe not the best but defiantly worst the trip and price. I came here for a company event so there is lots of seating to accommodate us all. The staff is also very friendly and willing to help out. The place is sandwich between lots of new buildings so it’s actually refreshing to see this place as a break from the new corporate buildings. There is some parking but it is accessible by Muni. And of course Lyft or Über. But if you like to walk it’s a nice safe place to walk from and to Market Street or anywhere within the Dog Patch.

I almost feel special coming here, feeling as if I’ve stumbled across a local’s secret. I mean, check out the outdoor patio with those water views! Sad to say, 825 people before me must’ve felt special too, enjoying a drink or two in the sun while dipping their hands in the oh-so-perfect sweet potato fries basket and laughing out loud thinking«this is the life!» And it doesn’t have to be fancy. You don’t have to spend $$$. It’s just you, your group of friends and THAT view. If you do feel hungry, get the burger, it comes with all the usual trimmings and melted cheddar. I washed this down with Tanqueray n’ tonic since it was such a warm day when we had happy hour here. Speaking of happy hour, it’s $ 1OYSTERS on Mondays & Thursdays from 11am — 7pm! * cough, cough * I’ll be calling in sick on Mondays and Thursdays now and hanging out here for the rest of the day.

It’s by the sea, so the seafood is fresh. The service is another story. Met up with my brother and a few friends while visiting the City by the Bay & the company was great & the food was good. The service, not so great. The hostess was nice but after we were seated, it is as if all service ended. It took a while for the staff to take our drink order & then to bring it to the table. We waited a good 30 minutes until our waiter came back to take our food order. The place looks like a dive bar & I get the concept, but customer service should still be something that should be happening. I got the fish and chips & the meal was ok. Not the greatest seafood, although it is fresh, but when you get bad service, the meal goes bad too.

Came here on a Monday for their dollar oyster. Dollar oysters aren’t always the best qualities i must admit. You can rarely find ones that are fresh and delicious. This place is definitely a hidden gem. Its a cute dive bar/restaurant with lots of open seating area looking out onto the water. Its also very clean and comfortable. Theres also a few indoor tables as well. My friend and I ordered 2 dozen of oysters each to fill our oysters cravings. They were surprisingly fresh and delicious. I also decided to order a cup of chili, it was around 5 dollars. It was delicious though! I highly recommend this spot, as this was my first time here. I will most definatley come here more often and try there whole menu! $ 1 dollar oysters on Mondays and Thursdays

Great brunch place, the hosts could be a bit more welcoming and concise… Bradley table for 2, this way guys… *smile* Katrina table for 4 follow me please… *smile* Don’t just go up to groups of people waiting for a table and ask, «Are you waiting for a table?» «No honey, I just came here to sit and admire the scenery…» Everyone’s waiting for a table… if you can’t remember their names, call out the names they wrote on your list… If the list is too tough, change how you seat your customers…

Brought our daughter for a quick bite(and drink for me) after work. We got there early to avoid the Friday after work crowd, especially with a ball game coming up later. Pulled Pork Sliders were a bit bigger than I expected(which is a good thing). This could easily be a main instead of a «small plate». The pork is topped with pickled purple cabbage and the spicy bbq sauce. The bbq isn’t very spicy… it has a touch of heat. My daughter devoured the bbq pork without the buns. This was the best plate we ordered. The Ramp Burger was surprisingly bland. Considering a number of people have told me their burger is good… I was dissapointed. It was dry, over cooked, and average at best. Certainly not worth going out of the way for. Fish and Chips were decent. It’s heavy battered and fried hard. This was good, but it’s tough to eat this plate then go out. Need a nap after this meal. Overall the food was average. Service was great. Our server was very attentive… on top of everything… and even had crayons ready for our daughter. May come back another day for brunch.

This place made me miss Scotty’s Landing( ), except it was worse. Also now I miss conch. Now we had been drinking for a long time at Mission Rock Resort(which none of us really like) and the Ramp was right down the road. As we got there around or after 4(again, drunk), I think their kitchen was closing in order to switch the barbecue. When we left, we still didn’t see a barbecue, a live band with a flautist was setting up, but we didn’t stay. The highlight was the woman with the golden retriever mix. So if you want a few drinks by the water in a very casual atmosphere, this place isn’t that bad. But man, did it make me miss Florida.

Overall: Solid bar/brunch option with a bay view, but it has very average food options. Nothing special here, but still good. The good: Great service, very friendly and attentive and plenty of outdoor seating. Good view of the water. Solid drink options. The bad: The food is very average. I expected better to be honest. Not as many fish options as I would’ve liked. Limited menu. The prices are also not very reasonable. Atmosphere: 7⁄10 Service: 8⁄0 Food: 6⁄10

Nice location especially for great weather! Right by the water with outdoor and indoor seating. Lots of people here on a Friday afternoon! The noise level was loud but not top loud where we couldn’t hear each other across the table. The service was quick in the beginning but slow when it came to giving our bill and paying our bill. The décor and atmosphere was nicely done. We were seated under a tarp cover type thing that makes it possible to eat outside if it was lightweight raining. The food is good and a bit pricey side. I’d definitely come here again for the view, good weather, and before a giants game.

Unilocal Poll! Name a waterfront restaurant in SF that’s reasonably priced, serves great food, and provides good service. OK, GO!!! *cricket cricket* *cricket cricket* *cricket cricket* Ok, that’s because there are none, at least I have yet to find one. The Ramp is no exception. First things, first. Be careful of where you park and do NOT leave your belongings behind because car break-ins in this area are rampant. I saw lots of broken glass all over the floor at a handful of parking spaces. Meters run till 11 pm but is just 25 cents per an hour after 6 pm. Upon walking into the patio, Tater Tot dropped a turd loaf. A sign for things to come? There’s no hostess and there’s three separate areas in the outdoor patio: one part is self-seating, another is «ask the bartender», and another is «ask a waiter»(we sat at the table service area). If you grab drinks at the bar first and start a tab, you can’t sit outside to order food unless you close your bar tab first, and start a new tab. Confusing much? The reasonably priced menu serves up basic American fare of salads, oysters, chicken wings, fried calamari, burgers, and ribs. Nothing is over $ 15.75. Do note the online menu prices are not up-to-date and actual prices are a tad more expensive. We shared the Greek Style Wings w/lemon aioli($ 7.75): which were great. They were smoky, herbaceous, and moistly tender. I enjoyed the dipping sauce though it tasted more like a deliciously creamy and tangy tzatziki. Recommended. Things went downhill from there… I ordered the Ramp Burger($ 13 + $ 1 for cheese) and requested it medium-rare but it was cooked well-done: . I sent it back, waited 15 minutes, only for the second one to be cooked well-done again! Argh, I give up. Mr. NSS ordered the Fish & Chips($ 15.75) but our waitress had forgotten to put in the order. When it arrived while waiting for my second burger to be cooked, it didn’t look appetizing at all: . The batter looked like it had been overcooked in old oil. The crust was rock hard, and the fish was way overcooked and dry. He enjoyed his fries more than the fish. Ugh, the service… Coming from someone who wears flip flops to dinner(even to a $$$ place), I’m down with casual and laid back. However, the staff at The Ramp is soooo laid baaaaccck to the point, they exude a «IDGAF» attitude. Donning stunna shades(not Rx) in 63 degree weather in shaded patio made service seem even more impersonal. Understandably, mistakes happen but when one of the orders wasn’t put in and my burger was overcooked, our server was unapologetic. «Oh, the burger is not cooked to your liking?», she snarkily asked. I was looking for the restroom and two staff members blocked the entryway because they were busy chatting. They didn’t move until I had to excuse myself. Rude. Should have taken a cue when Tater Tot dropped a turd loaf to run the other way!

Went for a happy hour with friends after work to this place. The waitress was super friendly and nice. The atmosphere was awesome with a beautiful view on the bay. The space in this place is in Normanis. Outdoor seating with tables add a nice touch this place. We ordered nachos, a burger, and fried calamaries. All were good. Great brunch spot with a view! I heard there’s usually a long wait but my table of 8 got seated pretty quickly at 11:30. They offer egg benedicts, hashes, burgers, and sandwiches but I went with a crab and shrimp salad and LOVED it! It was lightly dressed, comes with a ton of seafood and delicious fresh avocado. A bottle of champagne and some OJ is $ 19 and plenty to share. It was fun to sip my mimosa and watch Rich Person A yell at Rich Person B for getting her boat too close to his. Cheers!
