Anyway, if full service and high end both sound good to you, this is your spot. Whether you’re interested in a blow out, cut, color, or style, book an appointment online (hallelujah) and you will not leave here disappointed. Kristin is my personal stylist, although all of the stylists are equally loved by their clients. I have never received more compliments on my hair since I became a client of the RCS, and my hair has never felt healthier. I genuinely look forward to my next appointment from the minute I leave. Aside from being very talented at what they do, the employees at the Red Chair Salon are also extremely friendly and inviting.

The whole team here does an amazing job! I’ve had my hair cut here multiple times by different people and every time they cut and dye it perfectly while creating a friendly atmosphere while you’re getting cut and colored. Thanks Kristin and red chair!

Kristen did my wedding hair color and styling. She is THE BEST! On time, fair prices, great work, and she is fun to spend time with in the chair :)
My wedding day hair was more than I could have ever asked for. It got better as the night went on! and lasted for probably 2 – 3 days AFTER the wedding.
She also did my MOH and moms hair and they also looked picture perfect.

Kristin is awesome! I showed her pictures of the subtle red highlights I wanted, and she nailed it! I was very anxious about finding a new stylist, but I will look no further! I’m super happy with my result and so glad I gave this salon a try!

Do yourself a favor and go and see Kristin. She’s done three different balayage colors on my hair, each time getting the exact levels of brightness I’d asked for. Kristin also always offers to tone my hair in between appointments if the color isn’t lasting how I’d like it to. I keep my cuts simple, but appreciate how Kristin doesn’t cut too much hair when I ask for a trim.
I love being able to book online, and choose my beverage when I walk in too! I’ve finally found my hair salon in the city, and can stop commuting back down to Los Gatos to get my hair done!

Definitely worth checking out. I loved my first hair cut/​style from Kristin and my second one was even better. Getting my hair done can be tricky because I have a chronic neck and back injury and they are great about making accommodations for me.

I recently had the chance to try this salon and I was impressed with the service. I had a cut by Kristin and loved the style she did. She is a professional indeed. Worth the try, highly recommend it.

When I first moved to San Francisco I tried several salons that were all similar: mediocre, snotty, grossly overpriced. And then I found Kristin at red chair salon (via Unilocal — thank you Unilocalosphere!). I adore her and the salon. It’s a beautiful space and the service is great, but it’s not pretentious (thank you thank you thank you). It’s a classy, seamless experience.
Kristin just rocks. She’s a lovely human and is a master with my hair. She listens to what I want and it ends up always better than imagined.
The price is also fair. At least for an upscale salon in the Marina.
This actually reminds me that I’m due for a cut!

After calling and leaving a message a few days later I got a call asking when I wanted to re-​schedule to fix my hair. I set it up for today and Mimi did it and was very pleased with the results. Turns out my hair was a bit unpredictable and it took some time to get it the way I wanted but I absolutely love it now! Thanks!

The Red Chair Salon is wonderful! I’m always warmly greeted and taken care of. It’s at a great location and is always clean. I got high lights and a cut from Lindsay. Not only do I regularly get complimented on my hair now but Lindsay also made the process fun! Can’t wait to go back!

I got a haircut here yesterday with Lindsay. I am in love with my haircut, the salon, and my overall experience. I tried the salon via a giltcity deal. Lindsay is so sweet and talented. I loved that she was friendly, but focused. My hair looks incredible, my appointment started on time, and I will definitely come here again.

Love this place and especially love the stylist Lindsay Morrison! She greeted me with a glass of water and had me seated right away! She asked me what I was looking for and then once I told her she walked me through the process of how she was going to do it so I had an understanding of how it would look at the end! I walked out of there feeling like a million bucks! Her work with balayage is phenomenal and had trimmed my hair to perfection! Cannot wait to go back and see her!

I came here with a GiltCity voucher, got an appointment within 2 days with Mimi and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. Seems like Red Chair Salon is capable of accommodating brunettes too (why are people writing that they’re «naturally blond, bitches» is that some kind of achievement?). Anyway, after not having been to a hairdresser for a couple of months, I was in desperate need of a cut, and willing to try something new. Even though I wasn’t able to define what I wanted upfront, Mimi was patient and worked out something fabulous. It looks great! In addition, the conversation was very entertaining, but not overstepping boundaries. Very professional! I would definitely go back. Thanks Mimi!

Red Chair Salon without Matthew is pretty much lost. Before I could track down Matthew, I went at the last minute over the holidays and had my hair cut and colored by S******ie. It was awful. Afterwards I had to go back and ask for a fix, because my hair was so brassy, and the definition of «layers» was drastically misunderstood. The service here was polite in getting me back in, but the fact is that S******ie is just amateur and not properly trained. This is a neighborhood salon and not a professional place.

I had a great experience here! The atmosphere is beautiful and all of the employees are very friendly and helpful! I had my hair done by Jessica and I love it. Before she started, she made sure we were on the same page of what I wanted and told me everything she was doing before she did it to make sure I was getting what I wanted. I also loved the products they used which did not damage my hair. Definitely recommended and worth the money!

I recently went to see Kristin again on my lunch break. I got a cut and some color in an hour. My hair is not very long or thick, but seriously, 1 hour. I love how it turned out and so did my confused coworkers. Nobody could believe I had that done in an hour.
I can’t wait to return and I can’t recommend it enough. Plus, it’s locally and family owned!

Don’t be fooled by the 4.5 stars… most of the good reviews here are really old, dating back to 2006!

I paid $ 155 to get frustrated and waste two hours.
They rubbed me the wrong way from the get-​go: 20 min wait for a Saturday 10 am appointment. How can anyone run that late that early in the day already?
Then there’s the wedding hair and makeup trial run itself. Well, it was a TRIAL alright, and I just wanted to RUN.
First she drew my eyebrows in the shape of perfect semi-​circles. Comical, but not funny.
Then she applied my false lashes unevenly. One strip was visibly higher than the other.
And when I asked her to re-​draw my cat-​eye liner, she used a PAPER TOWEL dipped in water to rub off the liner. For a good minute. Hello? The skin in the corner of your eye is the most delicate. She apologized after I complained and finally managed to find some makeup remover. But really, why did I have to point it out in the first place?
The last straw was the hair. I told her in plain English that I wanted big waves and showed her photos of ME with hair that I did myself at home — nothing unrealistic and no need to make me look like Angelina Jolie. But she insisted on using a smaller barrel hot roller and was visibly impatient when I told her I didn’t like the results. Finally I just told her I’d do my own hair on the wedding day.
In all fairness, I knew it was a trial run and didn’t expect perfection. But the trial run should’ve given me confidence that they know what they’re doing and can deliver on my Big Day. Instead, now I’m convinced they CAN’T. Every time I complained she just said — «oh it’s just a test to give you an idea». Really? Then don’t charge me real money. How about I pay you with Monopoly $$ to «give you an idea», hmm?
Don’t put your wedding day hair and makeup in their hands. You’d look way better doing it yourself! I can’t believe I still tipped her. #Fail.

Absolutely the BEST. The stylists all know what they’re doing, are very good at making sure every client walks out feeling and looking great. I personally go to Kristin, who has helped my hair become healthier than ever, and has very gently helped me let go of my need to be platinum Blondie. I’m so thankful to be a client here. Kristin and all other staff are extremely experienced and educated in cosmetology, but very down to earth and create a comfortable yet tasteful environment. Also, the receptionist and assistant, Lindsey, is so friendly that you’ll be excited to come in simply after calling her to schedule!

Bought a keratin treatment on Lifebooker. Being new to this, I wasnt sure what to expect. I went to Mathew G. and he was great! Really funny too we had a great time which is important to me since I HATE having my hair done, time flew by. I got great results and I am hoping to get my color done by him soon too.

I got a brazilian blow out the other day by Celebrity stylist Mathew G!!! OMG he is soooo amazing and talented beyond belief!!! I have very curly frizzy hair and have been getting BBO for awhile now so I have a lot of knowledge on technique. Mathews technique is beyond great!!! He’s known for his coloring so I’m super excited for my ombré in December. I was lucky to find some Likebookers (groupon like) to get some discounts for my treatments!!! Mathew is my hair stylist from now on!!!

This gem of a salon offers a fantastic Brazilian Blowout! My hair was not damaged, it was incredibly improved! Stefani does my blowouts, and also cuts and colors my hair. She is a former Paul Mitchell beauty school teacher i’ve come to learn l so she really knows her stuff, and makes great suggestions without trying to up sell me on products and extra services. Stef always leaves me feeling beautiful upon leaving her chair.
If you want the Brazilian blowout this is the place to go, and Stefani is the one to see!
