I liked to setting and the food was good. I ordered the salmon and it came with mash potatoes and peas and carrots, the fish was cooked nicely if I may add. The beer, well you can’t visit an Irish pub and not order a Guinness! My charming companion ordered a pepper steak with the same sides. It seemed like the cook may have gone a little heavy with the pepper when seasoning the steak. As for the service, in all honesty it was fine up until the waiter came to give is the check. Now I too was once in the food industry and one should never push the bar when it comes to getting a tip. I thought it was pretty audacious for the waiter to write his own tip in. Now, if I wouldn’t have been in the good mood I was in I probably would have let the guy have it, I thought it was rude and given his body language when he came back to get the check I could tell he was aware. My review based on the pub itself — nice, there for the 3 stars My review with the waiter in mine — I won’t go back nor recommend it to someone without sharing the fine detail of this ass. 1.5 stars due to this guy. It’s a shame.

I’ve only dined here once, for lunch, and the only reason it gets two stars is the story I left with was simply laughable. Ill spare you the whole story and leave you with just the highlights: Me: «May I see your beer list?» — «Oh we dont have one» Me: «Oh, ok, what beers do you have then?» — «We have literally hundreds of beers» Me: «…So a beer list would probably come in handy» — «Name a beer, im sure we have it» Me: «Sierra Nevada» — «Nope» This guessing game continued for a few minutes for each person in our party. Orders were messed up, food was meh, and the words coming from the staff’s mouths just had us laughing in disbelief. Do yourself a favor and wait in line across the street at Buena Vista Club.

My friend Eileen is a regular here. And it’s a fun spot for karaōke on Sunday nights. Cool that it’s in f’man’s wharf.

Irish pub? I’m so there! Pretty tasty food for pub grub. Love, love, love the sweet potato fries, but the regular fries are also addictive. Corned beef and cabbage? Yes please. Pepper steak is divine! And you have to try the deep fried oreo, just sinful! And the music? James Campbell rocks the piano usually M-F and can play just about anything. So, definitely worth a visit. But make sure you hit up Ghiradelli’s for a free chocolate beforehand! Oh, and it’s a sports bar so there’s generally a game going on(for all you sports fans out there)

I love this place! I have never even heard of it. I would see it from time to time whenever I’m by the pier. Mind you, I was born and raised in San Francisco and I never really took notice of this pub. I came the night of the Pacquiao-Marquez fight and by the time I was there it was crazy crowded. The fight didn’t start til 8 and we were there around 6. There were no seats available and we were standing, but the hostess somehow managed to construct a table of four for us by combing two-2 person table from a bigger party. As soon as we were seated, the rush made the place more crowded. We were lucky to have such a great hostess! Our server was very friendly and was able to attend to our needs surprisingly since it was so busy! The food was ok. I was surprised to even know that they served food. I thought it was just alcohol. We also got a free drink ticket which made me even more pleased with this place. They have plenty of TVs and projector screens. I highly recommend this place for any big sports games. It’s very spacious and the crowd is awesome!

I have been here twice. Both times because the Buena Vista was just too full. I think a lot of folks end up here because of that. I suppose there is additioanl traffic because of the the several TV’s in the bar area for sports We ordered some Calamari and drinks. I have never had Calamari laced with onion rings. WTF? Our server spilled drinks twice while we were there and blamed it on being short staffed. Perhaps she had other issues? Next time I think I will just tough out the crowds at the Buena Vista.

Manny, Manny, Manny… Wow…I never thought I would see that in my life time. Crowded tonight because of the Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez fight. There are multiple screen TVs, a big dance floor, lots of beer. For $ 20 tonight, you get to stand with a zillion boxing fans and somehow get 1 free beer, if you can traverse the bodies. I’m still in shock. Manny, Manny, Manny. Since you started being religious and stopped chasing your mistresses, your boxing has suffered. We want to see the evil Pacman, not the one that went nose first, kissed the canvas and stayed there for 3 minutes in the 6th, after not seeing Marquez-lean-in-the-punch-with-all-his-body-weight counter punch. To my Mexican friends/cousins: Felicitaciones a Márquez. Esa fue una buena pelea. Espero que esto sea consuelo para su última pelea. Ese fue un muy buen puñetazo derecho de contador en la barbilla de Manny.

Seemed like a local hang out, which is good to me. The place is not fancy and new like some might want. It’s more a local(a little run down) Irish Pub. But the service was good, and drinks strong. They has a piano player there, when we were there. Neat place.

After a long day of sightseeing, my out of town guests were looking for a place to quench their thirst. Me and Baby Jiggles, on the other hand, were craving Ghiradelli sundaes. Enter Tiernan’s Irish Pub. We were about two or so blocks from Ghiradelli Square but my high-heeled out-of-towners were on their last leg(literally) of walking the city streets and needed a drink. We stopped in here as they wanted a place to relax, have a brewski, and watch some football. One look at the menu and the heavens were aligned: they offered a Ghiradelli brownie sundae! What I swallowed: GHIRADELLIBROWNIESUNDAE: Now mind you, it isn’t the fountain Ghiradelli sundae that you would get at the Square with piping hot fudge, but for the sake of my out-of-town guests, this will do. The brownie was moist and delicious and had JUST the right amount of chocolate drizzle without it being overpowering. It was enough to share between four friends. or maybe just one Ghiradelli-craving-pregnant lady. Service was nice, the lady was attentive, but the couches against the wall smelled like they poured a whole bottle of malt vinegar on it. Yuck.

Live music every night and never a cover charge. We were at Aquatic Park for the fireworks, and all the waterfront restaurants were packed. But at Tiernan’s we located a 2-top and sat down within a minute. The menu was extensive, and we found something we liked. 2 grilled salmon Cesar salads, and 4 Chardonnays, for $ 65 + tip. The waitstaff was much more responsive than I expected them to be. Plus 1 star for the service! I mean, this was a busy night and they kept up with it all. The room was full of tourists, some of whom were dancing to the music. The food was good, and the music was loud. The acoustic guitarist had a good voice and played technically solid music, mostly 60s stuff. The singer he had with him showed some promise, and she had the Janice Joplin songs down solid. So all in all, it was an easy wait for the FOURTHOFJULYFIREWORKS to start. I could go on about what used to be in this space, but we haven’t invented time travel yet, so it doesn’t matter. Tiernan’s is using the room well. It was much better than standing outside in the cold waiting for a table at some other restaurant. I’m happy.

Meh… There are much better places to go and get a buzz on. This is your typical pub — dark, dank, sticky tables, horrendous karaōke, slow service, and mediocre food. Kudos to them for their large beer selection and their expansive menu with vegan alternatives… but waiting an hour for lackluster food makes you think of other ways to better spend your time.

We stopped by one afternoon on the way back from Ghirardelli Square. I was a little skeptical since they had an employee outside basically begging you to come inside but not a bad place at all for a beer. They have a $ 4 for all drafts happy hour special which might be the best deal on the Wharf area. The bartender was friendly too and was lamenting what it’s like to be an A’s fan in the land of the Giants. I didn’t eat anything so I can’t speak for the food but this place is worth stopping in for a beer.

I love me some Irish boys. I do, I dig the accent, I love the pale skin that’s almost albino with a hint of skin cancer, but what I love more than all that is BEER! Okay, my beers of choice are usually Mexican or German, because I love those boys, too, I mean the beers. Give me a Corona or a Heineken and call me happy. So, when I went to Tiernan’s, I thought, «yes, this is going to be awesome!» Well, hold on, not so fast skippy. First of all, it was a total random night… won’t bore you with the details but it was innnnteresting to say the least. Ended up having drinks at Tiernan’s and seriously there were like 10 people in the entire bar. Which is fine, except that they were pumping hip hop music like it was going out of style. So, what did I do. I danced. Yes, I came with someone, but ended up dancing by myself. But, I wasn’t completely alone because there were 5 people on the dance floor too. Tourists of course, one happened to be in a wheelchair, so OFCOURSE, I danced with him. News from the file marked: DUH! ;) Even though the night wasn’t the most successful(ah-hem), I still had a great time. I probably won’t be visiting Tiernan’s for a while… SORRY…especially not on a Saturday night… but thanks for the memories.

I really can’t think of too many places near the Wharf where I’d want to get a drink. I mean, just go up to North Beach and check out Kennedy’s or Rogue or a zillion other places. But if you are in the Wharf and need a drink this place is fine – though after reading Kunjal’s review I could have hit it on a couple of good nights. The food is exactly what you’d expect – pub food. And the beer selection doesn’t have many of the malty kind that I like, though the selection is large. Their mixed drinks are pretty strong and if you want nachos they can’t really mess that up. It’s also a big space. I can’t imagine what they pay to rent the place. Both times I’ve been there I’ve had enough room to just hang out with my friends and talk. There’s also motorcycle parking close by on Hyde right off the water.

A birthday party pub crawl started here around noon on a Saturday. They have Blue Moon so I was happy :-) The crowd was very laid back. For being so close to Fisherman’s Warf/Pier 39, it didn’t feel touristy at all. Most of the people in the bar were locals.(I have some outgoing friends, and we were dressed pretty ridiculously in themed costume, so we made friends with the other patrons quickly.) We didn’t see our waitress for the first 20 minutes or so after we arrived. Others at the table who arrived before us said she hadn’t been coming around so we went to the bar to order. All in all, this place is fine but nothing special.

Workers here need to hurry up because I’m thirsty! i came here because i needed a drink, desperately. i was with some of my friends and we were making our way to parlor when we noticed a long ass line. so instead of waiting in line, we decided to find a bar with no cover. our plan was to drink and then walk back to line up for parlor. i did a quick Unilocal, found this place and walked up the block. right when we walked in, i felt like i was intruding on someone’s movie. it was so awkward, people all facing the same way and staring. well, then i realized there were two singers on stage and their singing wasn’t exactly music to my ears. anyway, we found a table and wanted to order our drinks and get outta here. BUT the service here was sooo slow… you’d think they have more workers on a saturday night. when our waitress finally came over to us, i wanted to tell her to hurry the hell up, but i bit my tongue. however, as we waited and waited for our drinks to come, i really wish i rushed her a little bit. we all ordered beers, does it really take 20 mins to pour beers?! she finally came with our drinks, i chugged it and wanted to pay and leave. again, we had to WAIT. at one point, all of us could have left without paying because no one paid any attention to us and we were actually contemplating it. but us being, kind and moral people decided not to. finally, another 20 minutes later, we paid and walked out. i seriously wasted too much time here.

Try the Irish nachos with corned beef and sing your heart out with karaōke. That’s all I remember at this touristy pub. Of course, they have an array of beers including sweet Belgian ones for the ladies! It took awhile to get some service, but the wait staff was friendly and fast. Parking can be tough on the street.

HORRIBLE customer service and drinks are too expensive for a pub. I know it’s in Fisherman’s Wharf and all, but still, drinks are too expensive. And the bartenders absolutely just pissed me off, and I really wish I didn’t bring my money to this business. A couple friends and I ended up here because we were over at The Parlor for a birthday celebration. We wanted to grab a few drinks before heading over to the club, and Tiernan’s was pretty much right across the street so we decided to go in. When we walked in, I thought the pub looked pretty nice. Very well kept, clean, lots of space, etc. When I went up to the bar, it took FOREVER to get one of the bartenders to help me, and it wasn’t even packed at all. There weren’t that many customers, but the bartenders were just being very ignoring and taking their time. Then when I finally got one of the bartenders to help me, she was a total b*tch and gave me a lot of attitude. I ordered a few shots, then noticed they had a Foursquare deal going on and when I asked her about it, she was being really rude about it. It took me a minute to decide what I wanted and she was up in my face telling me to hurry up and that she didn’t have the time to deal with me trying to figure out what I wanted to drink. AREYOUKIDDINGME? Instead of saying to my face that you don’t have the time and being an absolute rude person who’s is supposed to be providing a service to me, you could have been pouring my shots while I was deciding. Anyways, the drink deal was buy one get one free. After I finished my first one, I went back to her and asked if I could get something different as my second drink. She said no, but with so much attitude. I get it, the rules are usually you have to drink the same thing, but you can be nice about it, I’m just asking you a simple question. Anyhow, I’ll give this place 2 stars. Nice place, but they really need to train their staff not to yell and piss off their customers. I’m never out in Fisherman’s Wharf much at night, but regardless, I would never return to this place.

If the Buena Vista is too busy, wait ! Do not walk across to this pub. We should gave known when it was empty and the BV was packed. Their Irish coffee was a joke(is there really a mystery to how to make one? …esp when the best ones are served directly across the street.) Grilled cheese is not… it’s toasted. Very lame. Go anywhere but here. Oh, but at night when all the tourists on the Wharf are looking for a beer, I bet they do that ok here.
