I’ve tried multiple wines and they’re all really high quality and tasty. I especially love the burrata that they get shipped from Italy.

A perfect addition to NOPA! Tofino is now our #1 favorite wine spot in the city. Not only is Tofino within walking distance from our house in Nopa, it’s also a place we can never just have one glass of wine! Tofino offers a diverse, carefully selected inventory of wines from all over the world. Owners Mark, and April are sure to help you find something you already love, as well as something you had no idea you loved! Tofino also serves wine on tap,(if you haven’t tried it before you will certainly be pleasantly surprised!) My boyfriend and I have been drinking our reds slightly chilled lately, here and at home, and we are now finding it difficult to return to room temperature! Of course with such a vast selection of wine from the«well known» maker, to the exotic, there is something for every wine lover here. The ambiance is perfect. There is a large stock area off to the right as you walk in for browsing the many wines. On the left there are a few intimate tables as well accommodations for larger parties, and of course our favorite, the bar! You can also expect a great menu of charcuterie, seasonal salads, and small plates. My personal favorite; Smoked Trout Pâté, with warm locally sourced fresh bread! We adore the owners, and sincerely love what they have brought to the neighborhood. Make sure to speak with Mark, April or one of the staff for excellent advice on there perfect wine at your own price point.

What an impressive selection of unique wines. Owners Mark and April are industry veterans that have put together an amazing selection of wines. Very knowledgeable and friendly! The space is just awesome(open, clean, comfortable). Not only does Mark have great taste in wines of the world, but he plays some awesome music as well. April put together a great cheese plate for my wife and I. Great date night, but also an awesome space to consider our next event. We also bought a handful of wines to enjoy at home from their wine racks.

Amazing selection, warm hospitality, and a truly unique space for San Francisco. The city needs more places like this. Absolutely love how much Italian wine they carry here. If you dig Californian and French there’s plenty as well. Music is chill, bar bites are rad. Do yourself a favor, get over here and enjoy a few glasses, better yet but a bottle from the 700 plus choices they have and chill. Oh, there’s amazing beer too if you’re not feeling like wine. Stoked to have a place like this in the neighborhood!

Great wine bar and much needed on Geary/Masonic. Delicious wines and wonderful selection. Curious about their New Year’s happenings. Great venue. Great staff. Owner very friendly and helpful with suggestions on wines. Will definitely go back!

Their wine selection(especially their reds, I love my reds) is wonderful — so carefully and thoughtfully picked! It’s a beautiful atmosphere in an unexpected location on Geary. I first saw it waiting for the 38 bus across the street. I looked up the reviews and bookmarked it for the next time I would meet with a friend or two to catch up. The food is a-ok. I’ve been to Barcelona so I’m a bit spoiled, but I really liked the burrata and bread(they give you a big serving of burrata, almost a meal in itself, ask for more bread because you’ll run out, trust me). I would definitely come back if I wanted a nice glass of wine in a beautiful place.

You know what I like about wine? The Wine. Why? Because wine is great. Wine tastes good. Wine is the Platonic form of the marriage of liquid sunshine and the land and culture from which it comes. You know what I dislike about wine? Complexity, and at certain wine shops, Snottiness. Tofino Wines, run by the dynamic husband and wife duo of Mark and April, bring the goodies – a genuine, fanatical love of wine – minus the complexity and snottiness of wine culture. Tofino is the rare wine shop where if you ask for a recommendation, the owners will take the time to listen to what you like or what you’re looking for and offer recommendations for interesting wines that appeal and aren’t necessarily the most expensive of their extensive 700+ bottle offerings. On my last visits to California, I’d visited a bunch of other wine shops but got frustrated by wine sellers that insisted on pushing the usual Californian wines or crazy famous expensive wines with high Wine Spectator ratings or other wine snob marketing all over them. Sure, some of those wines tasted good, but I came away with a feeling that many of the sommeliers were more interested in getting me to like Californian wines more than I do versus finding me something that I was asking for. In contrast, April was more interested in finding a wine that I would enjoy. I asked for a recommendation for«something different» and said I’ve been on a natural wine and gamay kick, and she led me to a refreshing and mineral carignan that I would not have thought to select if I was left to my own devices. Then, she suggested we try the burrata that is flown in weekly from Italy. My friend and I were in perfect relaxed happy hour contentment on affordable wine, really creamy cheese, and freshly toasted bread. YUUUUUUUM. April also clued me in to the fact that they host tastings and special events that are posted on their website, and I also noticed a tasting room where you can book private parties. Tofino was such a low key, high value find and I can’t wait to return. Thank you so much April and Mark for your hospitality!

A friend and I rented the private space for an alumnae event for our all-girls high school in Omaha, NE. We weren’t sure what the turnout would be in terms of numbers and demographics of attendees. As it happened, we had around 15 ladies spanning in ages from 25 – 80. No joke! And every single one of them appreciated the warm, cozy and inviting venue and the delicious food and wine. As one of the owners was reading off the wine list for our carafe wine, my co-hostess exclaimed after just about every choice, «I LOVE that one!» We were thoroughly impressed with the warm, professional and highly effective team at Tofino who put the event on. It was super easy to inquire about the space, drop by and see it, schedule the event, host the event, etc. This space is a GEM. Great location. Beautiful space. Warm and thoroughly awesome staff. Two thumbs WAYUP!!!

So I’ve actually been a few times but have always felt like quite an outsider. The chill one feels when entering this oddly used mammoth space can be attributed to the staff who only acknowledges you when you are directly in front of them OR they are closing… Which always seems to be about 10 minutes after my fiancé and I arrive! How do I know? Because this has happened the last 3 times we’ve tried to grab a glass and tonight was no exception. If it had been midnight then of COURSE I’d understand but 6:30 on a Sunday? Maybe if they posted their hours on the door I wouldn’t be so bitchy but GEEZ, having one of the staff come at you telling you:” We are closing, you have time for one glass!” is enough to get me on Unilocal.Thankfully, Corner Store is just across Geary and Internos is just a bit further that I never have to bother trying to have the elusive Tofino vino!

It’s always surprised me how few good wine bars there are in San Francisco. I mean, how hard can in be with so many of the finest wine regions on Earth nearby? Yet pretty much every wine bar I’ve been to in San Francisco has been perplexingly disappointing. Tofino gets it right. Great selection of truly distinctive wines from around the world. I was so impressed when I walked in and looked over the retail selection. Are the retail wines cheap? Uh, no. But the selection is outstanding, not deep but broad in terms of region and varietal and very well curated. The wine by the glass selections are also compelling and the Marcona almonds I had with my Liquid Farm rose(seriously where else are you going to find that by the glass) were tasty and a nice compliment. Good job Tofino.

I like the wine selection and the grilled cheese. I like the wood furniture too. The staff were nice and helpful but I also think they should not try to clean the table without asking us if it’s okay to clean. Makes you feel either they’re closing already or are being forced to order more. Asking permission first before cleaning the table would make the experience perfect.

You’ll be amazed at how beautiful this place is inside. Great service and selection of wines. The light bites were super tasty. And the music was awesome. You reeled me in with The The. I’ll be back for sure!

We came to Tofino as a late night stop off before heading home but were surprised how good it was. Some other posters here have a hipster condescending approach to the place. I expected little and was impressively surprised. The wine and beer selection are thoughtful and creative. The food is more snack and sides oriented than main dishes but both dishes we had were great(recommend the fig, ricotta cheese and ciabatta toast). With plenty of trendy spots trying to be impressive, it is nice to go to a place that intends to do something well, and succeeds. We will be back, soon.

The love for wine runs deep here. The owners are extremely passionate about what they serve in addition to the physical space. We’ve been here a few times and it’s a fantastic spot. The wine selection is excellent and includes one of the best wines I’ve ever had(which I discovered here). The food is also delicious, simple, and seasonal. We’ve tried a few different dishes and have loved everything. I would give it 10 stars if I could.

I want to drink the Kool Aid. Or even just a half glass of wine… but as I was reminded in a snippy tone, «we don’t do that here». My ‘toast’, while indeed crisped in a toaster, was just one thin, measly piece. Like so small I felt guilty every time I picked half of it up, as though I was leaving its substantially vulnerable other half to contemplate true loneliness. {Trying to be as fair as possible, I visited 3 times before writing this, and had the same tiny toast experience each time. Sadly not a fluke.} I think I was served by one of the owners, whose demeanor was a combo of overcaffeinated barista and Avril Lavigne circa 2009. She did not try to engage me in any way, and seemed irritated that I was in her space. This city is full of bounty and awesome bakeries. Marla’s bread is a great thing to feature, but the short pour of wine I got, paired with dismissive service and the outrageous price charged for said experience, I won’t be back.

You’d think San Franciscans think 2pm is a good time to grocery shop at Trader Joe’s but maybe too early to go around the corner to have a few glasses of beautiful wine. When we walked in last Saturday afternoon, we were the first customers of the day. What a beautiful space! It definitely doesn’t feel like San Francisco or even Napa. I felt like I was somewhere in Europe. Vaulted ceilings. Rustic tables and shelves loaded with great wines. A zinc bar off to the side and well-spaced tables and chairs off to one side in front of huge windows. Our lovely server was gracious, knowledgeable, and charming in her oversized striped shirt over tapered khakis and flats, set off with red lipstick and a ponytail. We shared a half-carafe of a beautiful red, followed by a half carafe of a really wonderful rose with just a bit of effervescence. The burratta was fresh and creamy. The French radishes w/a composed lemon butter and fleur de sel were the perfect complement to the rose. Good conversation. Good wine. Good food. Is there any better way to while away a lazy Saturday afternoon? Tofino Wines made it special! Go! Now!

Glad to have this place in the neighborhood! Tofino is a pretty, casual wine bar with a great wine selection, as a wine bar should have. The staff is really friendly and happy to help you out. With a calm, romantic atmosphere, it’s a great place for a date where you actually want to hear what the other person has to say. It’s a *tiny* bit pricey, but then again, this is San Francisco.

I really, really wanted to like this place. It’s ridiculously close to mi casa, and well, sells wine which I love, but the vibe is a little off, the wine and snacks are a little expensive. Also, the fact that if you have to pay a $ 10 corkage fee if you want to buy a bottle of wine to drink from the store just irks me. That all being said, they do have a good selection of vino so I might still pop in for a bottle(to go) here and there.

What a great place! Stopped by for a glass of wine to check it out, ended up staying for three glasses and some great company. Wine: Yes, Please! Come for a glass or 7, or come and check out the retail space to buy a great bottle of wine for your next dinner party. Tofino has your bases covered with wine needs — hands down. There is also beer on tap for those who want something different. Food: We had the Burrata Snack which was complimented with Olive Oil and Salt — I would highly recommend it, however the woman sitting next to us at the bar ordered the crostini which also looked like a great choice. Ambiance: Perfect to catch up with a friend, go on a date, or meet up with a larger group of friends, the space is big enough and welcoming enough to do all three. With vaulted ceilings and ample seating this would also be a great place for private events, big or small. Service: We had the pleasure of being guided and educated through our wine selection by the owners, who took the time to make sure that we walked away with some knowledge and not just a buzz. Welcome to the neighborhood! Excited to see it grow!

Tofino is a new wine shop and bar in the hood. I walk by on occasion and was watching with anticipation as they were building up the space, stocking the shelves, and occasionally drinking wine behind the glass windows. They had a soft opening from 4 to 10 the other day so I popped in for a bit before heading off to dinner with friends. They have a nice selection of wines by the glass(10 wines) and on tap(6 wines) and by the bottle(100’s). Also a few quality beers are available on tap(3 right now). The food menu is small — more oriented towards snacks/tapas while tasting wine than a meal(which to me is perfect). Olives, almonds, cheese and meat plates, crostini, etc. haven’t tried them yet, but they look tasty. They also are a wine merchant — they sell full bottles to take away. The policy for bottle service is of you buy a bottle from the shop to drink there, you pay an additional $ 10 corkage fee. That is an interesting concept. Other similar places I have been to(such as Cava in Capitola) don’t charge the corkage to consume on site. When I have more time I will look at that further — if the bottle prices are competitive(BevMo like pricing), then paying a little corkage is ok, but if they are priced as a wine bar then not too cool to charge more. They have seating for around 30 people. The two times I have been it was pretty quiet with only a handful of people there. If crowded, I can see it getting loud in there with all the hard surfaces reflecting the sound. The décor is nice but minimalistic. The large windows give it an open airy feeling. Tofino is definitely a nice addition to the area. We will be back.
