There’s something a little ironic about giving a «stars rating» that is labeled«Woohoo! As good as it gets!» to someone you see regularly because you have a painful, chronic disease, and yet the contrast between Dr. Chaganti at UCSF is so stark compared to my former medical team that I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge it. My life and my outlook on my disease have been significantly improved by being a patient at UCSF Rheumatology. Dr. Chaganti is respectful, interested in my input, and methodical in her approach — and(this is the best part) overtly curious about my disease. I appreciate her dedication to not just finding a label(RA, PA, UC, etc.) so that she can place me on a general medication protocol. Instead, she is flexible and cumulative. I find that I have started paying more attention to my symptoms and tracking them more accurately because I know that she will actually take the data into consideration and discuss it with me when determining our next steps. This is not necessarily the case with all rheumatologists. Also, I love that giant oil painting of Rosalind Russel in the waiting room, making inflammatory arthritis glamorous again. As it should be.
