this place is CHEAPBUTDELICIOUS! i dont care what people say. chinese people go here and if you’re scared by it, dont go. everything you order to go — either you sit there and eat or you bring it home. do NOT expect good service. expect to push your way through. there is no «line» the dim sum is good and they have good variety. note that usually you don’t just buy one piece. it is a certain # for a certain $. the more you buy, the cheaper it is. the reason why most chinese people go here is for the actual food entrees. for a plate with rice/noodle and two entrees it is only ~$ 5. its a steal. also if you go after 3pm, a pound of each of the entress are only $ 2.95!!! you dont even need to cook b/c its so cheap. i’ve basically tried all the entrees now since ive discovered it and have also brought it to potlucks with raving reviews. the people who give it low reviews have too high expectations. look at what you’re getting for the value.

A friend recommended this place since our regular place was closed. Most of the items that we had were 3/$ 2. Buns were $ 1 each. We got the har gow, shumai and the pork bun. Food was ok. Hubby liked the pork bun. He said it was juicy. You order at the front and there are some tables in the back to sit and eat. The restroom was kind of disgusting. The trash bin was overflowing and I left it as quick as I could.

Super inexpensive and delicious! Enjoyed a pork steam bun and two shrimp dim sum. Amount of food was perfect for what I ordered. This place is very very busy meeting the needs of locals. Admit I was worried if anyone spoke English, but all is good! This place is busy with people ordering to go. The price is beyond reasonable. Don’t expect luxury, be prepared to get up to the counter to order, they move fast. Sure it may look rough but food is delicious and it is clearly a very popular place with the Asian community. This is a great place for a quick meal for the independent traveler wanting good food and bit of cultural immersion.

Stopped in here randomly while walking by. Got an order of chow fun, two large potstickers, and a pork bun for $ 4 – not bad for a meal in the city. The chow fun wasn’t as flavorful as others I’ve had and had about 2 shreds of beef in it. The potstickers were large and had pork and cabbage in it. These were yummy. The pork bun had the same filling and had a good ratio of filling to breading. The food looked and tasted decent, but I won’t be back due to watching one of the employees walk by multiple times with one hand gloved and the other not. The first time, she used the non-gloved hand to push trash down in the trash can. The second time, she used the gloved hand. The third time, she emerged with a large pan of food and what I assume is the same glove on one hand. Darn, cuz I really thought I’d found a gem.

Fast service and good food. Very cheap and worth the money. We bought a lot and filled our bellies, and the total was very inexpensive. I will definitely go here again with friends and family :)

My husband and I would get our lunch here every weekend he works. So plenty and so filling! Their lunch special is 4.99 and I get to eat that in two meals! What? 2 full lunches for $ 2.50 each? Can I live next to Wing Sing?

This place is pretty meh for a dim sum place located in America’s largest Chinatown. First of all, the place doesn’t look too sanitary, I saw them storing cabbage in uncovered cardboard boxes on exposed bookshelves by where the tables are. The food itself tastes pretty subpar, with most of it being overly starchy and oily. The only good part about this place is its ridiculously cheap prices. So all in all, great for a cheap snack or meal, but if you’re looking for good quality dim sum, this is not the place to go.

This take-out/sit down restaurant is your quantity over quality. Not necessarily a bad thing, but just don’t expect great food. There is a lunch special: 5 $ for 2 items and a fried rice/chow fun. Or 5 $ for 3 items and steamed rice. — I had the eggplant + tofu + fried rice– fried rice was actually pretty good. Eggplant sauce had a strange bitterness to it, and tofu was alright. Prepare find your typical Chinatown etiquette here, where there’s no obvious line, just start talking to the nearest staff.

Wasn’t in our plans to stop in, but we can be spontaneous once in awhile and my girl wanted to go check it out. I glanced in and knew I didn’t like what I saw, so I asked again, «You want to go in?» She didn’t catch my cue and chalked it up to me being me obviously. Walk in and there really is no line. People are just hovering everywhere and so I just got one lady’s attention to get us started. Looked around and asked them to show us what was in the steam bins and didn’t really like what I saw, so stuck with safe options: the har gows and the shrimp & chive dumplings. There was a steamed pot sticker looking one with pork filling that she wanted to try, so we added those two. Lady assumed it was to go and kind of gave a puzzled look when I said it was for here. Anyways, she threw some wax paper on a tray and plopped our food on there and said nothing else. First bite of the har gow and I could tell it was already too greasy and the exterior was too thick. Didn’t taste all that great either. Same for the shrimp & chive. One look at the mystery pork dumpling and I didn’t really want to try it, but she said it was good. I took a bite. I spit it all out in a napkin immediately. No shame. Seating is basically communal seating at circular tables or there is a small bar seating area facing against the wall by the entrance. Tables aren’t especially clean and there is no ambiance. It’s just a bunch of random people sitting down and eating in a not so clean environment. I don’t know why people would come here when Good Mong Kok is a minute’s walk down the street. Perhaps for the same reason as me. A momentary lapse in sanity, because you have to be insane to be a return customer to this joint.

I came here with 5 people, spent $ 13.80, ate as much as we could, and still left with a take home box of food. Dim sum is great for the price you are paying. They have endless options and you can get a huge lunch plate, entrée and sides for $ 4.95. Keep in mind: this isn’t like the typical dimsum where you sit at a table and order on a menu or from a cart that is rolled around. You order, pay, and get your food at the counter. There are tables you can eat at inside the restaurant! Pro tip: don’t bother waiting in line because there is no «line». You just have to push your way to the front of the counter and order there.

Dim sum can’t get better than this!!! Love their authentic and affordable food! CASHONLY!!! FOOD: My brother and 2 male friends shared the BBQ pork bun, chicken bun, fried dough(you tiao), and egg tarts. Man, do they remind me of my childhood back in China. The BBQ pork bun was right on point with the amount of dough and meat. Their fried dough also brought back a lot of memories. I recommend getting a cup of congee(porridge) and dip the dough inside. SOGOOD. PRICE: Some of the smaller items(egg tarts, sesame balls) are 3 items for $ 2, and buns range from $ 0.90 to $ 2.00. I think total we paid around $ 10, which is very very cheap. Cash only! SERVICE: You order up front at the counter. There is a Chinese menu and English menu, so don’t worry if you can’t speak/read Mandarin or Canto. SETTING: The shop is located to another restaurant that has roasted duck displayed on its window. DON’T BESCARED. There are 5 – 6 tables inside, pretty spacious. OVERALLIMPRESSION: Love it! This place really reminds me of home back in China. Very authentic and will definitely come back again!

Best dim sum in all of Chinatown? Probably not. But find me a place where you can get lunch for two: six gigantic and delicious shu-mais, two flavorful barbecue pork buns and two cans of Coke for only $ 7.80 that’s what I call a winner winner chicken dinner, Wing Sing Dim Sum.

Well, its authentic that’s for sure. This place has a crazy level of energy about it. The ladies behind the food line holler and bark back and forth in Chinese. Its great fun and they are helpful as in suggesting what dish to try. The Dim Sum looked great and I saw 6 – 10 different dumplings on display. We did Fried Rice, Chicken Skewers and Pork/Vegetable pot stickers. I’m sorry to report that the chicken and rice were cold and they popped it into a very dirty looking microwave to heat it up. The pork in the pot stickers was terribly under cooked although the flavor was excellent from the one bit I took. Its a popular place with the local residents of China town. But I don’t think I would go back. Also, the restaurant is just plain dirty. The walls, floors and tables all need a good washing.

Walk into Wing Sing at any given time and the customers next to you will give more unsolicited testimonials about how good the Dim Sum is here than testimonials heard in Church. So this week I ordered dim sum two days in a row. So here’s a short list of what I tried: Pot Stickers: one order is three large sized hot pockets filled with pork and cabbage. These are really tasty and worth getting an order on each visit. Har Gow(Shrimp Dumplings): I actually didn’t like the ones made here. I thought the skin of the dumpling was extremely thick and the shrimp was minimal. Fried Fish: they serve a lightly Panko style breaded fried Cod. It is a nicely fried light taste fish. Sticky Rice wrapped in Leaves: I know there is a better name or definition for this Chinese tamale, but it’s probably my favorite thing to order. It has chunks of tasty pork mixed in a savory sticky rice. Strictly Chinese is spoken at Wing Sing but they understood«the words coming out of my mouth»(in my Chris Tucker Voice) when ordering in English. They are semi friendly and even give a half of a smile when asking what I want to order. With the variety and quality of most items I’ve tried. I could happily eat here a few times a week. So I guess I’ll start offering free testimonials to those I run into at Wing Sing too.

It’s Chinatown’s hidden little gem. It’s almost that hole in the wall place. This has been my go to place for awesome dim sum, for years. There is seating in the back which is always packed with people. All of the fun is when you walk through the door. It is loud and you have to order fast or someone will jump in with there order. They have some great steammed bbq pork buns. They also have shark fin(it’s a dumpling filled with Chinese sausage and spices) Hargow(a shrimp filled dumpling) among a list of other types of dim sum. There is also other foods you can order, such as fried rice, sweet and sour pork, chow mein, and much more. Real good prices and the food is always great. Give it a try, I’m sure you’ll be back Junior

Hole in wall kind of place that might blend in with the other prepared food places along Stockton, but this place has a little nicer variety of foods that appeal to my palate. Curry chicken is solid, tofu skin with spare ribs is very good, sautéed vegetables are crisp and not too greasy. Noodles are pretty standard and could use a little more meat. Service is curt but efficient. Not a fan of the dining area which looks kinda dingy but I prefer to find a park bench to eat my lunch anyway.

Dad loves the steamed buns here! Fresh off the steamer, these are soft buns that you immediately want to dig into. They’re not cheap on the filling either, whether you get the one with BBQ pork or chicken, this is a satisfying snack. Siu Mai, chicken-cilantro and pork-taro dumplings are all good. My parents took home sticky rice as well. Everything is so cheap and of course, cash only. While I prefer Good Mong Kok bakery nearby, this is a decent place for quick bite. Like many places in Chinatown, don’t expect to have sanitary conditions. Workers will handle money and your food interchangeably. You’ll see the steel trays stacked on top of each other without being submerged in hot water. The tables are greasy and the patrons look even greasier. Seriously guys! Take a shower!

MAN oh MANNNN do i loovee this place! chinatown does not get much bettter than this. i basically haul my butt from SOMA in the mornings on my run to get the MOSTEST dim sum possible, now that boy doesnt live in russian hill anymore(3 blocks from here. SO inconvenient)… my usual buys — POTSTICKS(these are my all time FAVE, so plump and juicy), leek dumplings, the celery with carrot(qing cai) and taro dumplings, as well as some peanut fun gow. everything is amazing, so dont be afraid to try new items! i also like their sticky rice as well as their sesame balls. also, you can get a box of white rice for $ 1, to make your own fried rice! so economical, teehee. for lunch, they serve 15 – 20 varieties for cooked delicious, but i’ve only tried 2 vegetarian things, so i will not base my reivew on that. i will probably be here tomorrow morning. :)

I came here on a Saturday, late November. I brought two friends and we ordered egg tarts, har gow(crystal skin shrimp dumplings), fun guo, taro cake, shrimp rice rolls, and sticky rice chicken. I was actually a bit disappointed. The shrimp rice rolls were thick as were the skins on the har gow. That said, the shrimp inside the har gow were delicious, as was the filling in the fun guo. But the skins were also thick. The taro cake is okay, a bit on the firm side, with a decent hit of five spice powder. The egg tarts, I would not recommend. The pastry was too thick(also, this is a shortcrust rather than a flaky, laminated dough version) and the filling wasn’t tender enough. This place was passable. I expected better though.

Any two items with white rice, soup and tea for less than $ 5. This place is outstanding for lunch — if you don’t mind eating in a store room on big round tables with other people. They have the biggest selection of tasty food of any of my favorite cheap Chinese restaurants. I am always stuffed when I walk away from my «any two items with rice» meal. I hate«any two items» restaurants as a general rule because the food is not given a lot of attention when being prepared — but this food is consistently good. Sometimes on the way to work I’d walk the length of Stockton street starting from Fisherman’s Wharf. By the time I got to the Chinatown portion, this place would be opening up so I’d order two Gok Cha Shiu Bow(baked pork buns) and a «chicken tamale» for my lunch. The chicken tamale you will see in the display case near the door… they look like little burritos wrapped in bamboo leaves. They are delicious. You peal them like a banana and there is all sorts of goodness inside. I put them in the microwave for a few minutes before eating — but the proper way to heat them is to steam them. I have eaten in rural China. This place is as close to what you can experience in China except that you pay for the food with dollars rather than yuan. Save yourself the air fare and just hang out at Wing Sim Dim Sum for a day. You will rarely see a white person here except one who blunders in and is soon frightened off by all these people who seem to know no other language than Cantonese. Tip: Don’t leave your phone. My son ate lunch here, forgot his mobile phone — came back for it and they said they had no idea where it was. He had a location app on it though and could clearly see it was at the restaurant.
