I’ve past by this place many times and never thought much of it and always ended up down the street at 85c for my bread needs. But boy was I wrong! I came here because I wanted cake and I just so happen saw that this place has lychee and black sesame cake so that spiked my interest so I decided to give this place a try. Also I saw the many post of the taro pineapple bun so that definitely made me wanna give this place a try. We get there and it’s definitely very small but you’re welcomed by the warm smell of fresh baked bread. We ordered our cakes and a coffee. The cakes were decent. Nothing to amazing but what BLEWUSAWAY was the fact that we had asked for a taro pineapple bun but the baker said he actually wouldn’t have any for a while. And we were quite bummed out and he asked how many we wanted and when we needed them by. We told him we just wanted to try it since we weren’t sure if well like it or not. And we fully expected to pay for this bread in order to try it. Out of no where the baker comes out with one and said he’s baking more right now and that he only had one to spare. So then he starts cutting it up to give us a sample! ANASIANBAKERYGIVING A FREESAMPLE. never in my life. I was blown away! But seriously guys. THISTAROPINEAPPLEBUNISTHEBEESKNEES. And there is a taro filling inside. Immediately after taking one bite we told the baker well order 6 more and he was more then happy to make more for us and told us to return in a few hours. We came to pick them up and they were fresh and HOT. I will be returning many many many more times for this amazing bun and to try your other amazing breads. Come here and try the taro pineapple bun. You WILLNOT regret this at all! And way more reasonably priced then 85c

I have become a regular here. As soon as you walk in to this bakery, you’re instantly hit with a delicious bakery aroma. This isn’t like regular bakeries around. The ladies in the front are always super helpful and give out samples of bread and cake. What’s great about this place is that they don’t use an preservatives. I come here once or twice a week! Good baked bread and pastries!

I love their cakes and pastries! I always get their taro cake for special occasions. There are taro pieces inside, yellow sponge cake and light cream. Not overly sweet! I also love their sponge cake! They always make fresh pastries throughout the day and they always have samples for you to try. If you are in the area, stop by and give it a try. Parking: Small private lot and free street parking

Hands down, one of the BEST taro buns in the area. –1 star for subpar, overpriced coffee

Had several of their bake goods. All of them were«ok”/so-so. Beef pie of some sort was lackluster. Napoleon were ok. Taro Bun was better than the Coffee Bun. Even the Egg Tart were alright. Would go for JJ Bakery or 85*C’s anytime. Wanted to support them, but can’t seem to find anything I really like. Maybe the taro bun if it was on the way. Wouldn’t make a trip exclusively to come here. — — - Revising to 4 stars because I like their Taro Mochi Bun @$ 1.65

Hidden gem of the SGV for baked goods with prices lower than most other famous bakeries around! These baked goods are also very well filled with a good amount whether it be yummy blueberry or cream cheese. The pastry is also large. They offered lots of free samples, and that got us hooked! We loved the cream cheese pastry when we tried the sample, and so we definitely ordered one. We gotta try the other filled pastries too. Oh! The almond filled one was good too! We got the pumpkin cake fresh out of the oven too! Next time, I’d like to try their green tea mochi as I’m sure there’s a lot of filling in that one too. And they actually have a happy hour deal from 3 — 5! It comes with a pastry and tea or coffee for dine-in.

3.5 been here many times to get their egg tarts… it’s the best. then a week ago i got a bday cake for a friend, a chestnut cake, and the cake was a bit dry n the chestnut filling a bit too crunchy… i’m guessing the chestnuts were not cooked soft enough. So i’ll be sticking with the egg tarts and avoiding their cakes.

Every year I come and order 2 quarter sheet cakes to celebrate my boss’ birthday. The reason why I like D’ange is because they make specialty flavors that I cannot find anywhere else. Upon coming in, the store was quite busy. There was about 5 people in queue yet the cashier was able to remain calm and serve them while attempting to guide me over to the cakes so that I can take a look while they finished up. When it was my turn, they gracefully explained what their offerings were(although I already knew in my head what I wanted to order), but it doesn’t hurt to the let the lady do her job once in a while right? :P Anyhow, I placed my order and paid and also set a pickup date and time with them. I was in and out in 15 minutes. CAKESORDERED: Lychee — 5STARS. Everyone tried and loved the unique lychee flavored cake. This is a nice cake with lychee fruit in the middle and a set layer of lychee jelly on the top. LYCHEEOVERLOAD, YUMMY! Tiramisu — 4STARS. Just like what a Tiramisu would taste like. They also added a nice touch and set some strawberries on top which made it a bit refreshing from all the chocolate. Overall their cakes here are decent and I will come to buy it as long as they have the specialty and unique flavors! :)

Overpriced. The $ 20 card minimum is outrageous; it used to be $ 10 and even then I thought that was borderline unreasonable. Breads are decent, but you don’t know how old the breads, pastries, and cakes really are; but I guess that’s how most bakeries are. Beware, they take forever to make drinks. I really wish their products weren’t so overpriced; I would shop here a lot often if it weren’t.

Gluten intolerance ceases to exist when you come here. For me. I’ve only had a few things: cream cheese pastry — 10 blueberry pastry — 9 cupcake(I call it fistcake because it’s hard not to eat fistfuls of it at one time) — lighter than an angel’s wings — 10 coffee — smuggle in your own or something, b/c it’s not good at all. still won’t affect my perfect rating. this bakery smells like a buttery angel when you walk in. There’s very few ways to describe it otherwise. Every time I’ve tried, I can only say ’ it’s like. angels’. Yesterday I found out that D’ange means angel. Well. The staff are so so nice, they are always handing out slices of cream cheese pastry when you waltz through and one time when they ran out of them, the woman behind the counter insisted I take the sample ones in the case. She also gave me a free baby loaf of bread yesterday.

Came in for their Dine-In only Happy Hour cake slice with coffee or tea deal. You can pick any cake slice and it’s served with coffee(regular or latte) or tea(black or green). I got the Tiramisu slice with latte. Total cost was $ 5.45. The Tiramisu was moist and not overly sweet. The powder topping didn’t drop all over when I bit into it. The slice was heavenly, and with each bite, melts in my mouth yummy, goodness! The latte was also good — wasn’t too strong or bitter. I ended adding one packet of splenda to sweeten it. Afterwards, I took my latte to go. As long as you finish the cake, they will allow you to take the coffee to go. I bumped it up one star since they allowed me to take my latte to go, and that they now accept credit cards(but with $ 20.00 minimum purchase). I’m a happy camper returning back here, yay! :)

My family and I love this place. This is our bakery of choice when it comes to birthday cakes now. Our usual is the chocolate cake with fresh strawberries. This was recommended to my mom the first time we ordered cake here and we were pleasantly surprised at how fresh the strawberries were, light and fluffy the cake was, and the just-right sweetness of the entire cake. My mom and brother are not cake people because they are usually way too sweet but my brother actually went back for seconds and my mom complimented the cake! If you’re like my family and always end up scraping off the cream on and in the cake(I know, what a waste…), you can request for less cream! We ordered the vanilla cake with mixed fruits and less cream for my brother’s birthday today and are excited to try it out tonight! My mom also bought a loaf of white toast when she picked up the cake today and wow is that thing soft and addicting. I think we’ll be going back for more tomorrow… Lastly, the service has been phenomenal each time we have visitors the bakery. The lady who helped me with a cake order over phone last September, the lady at the counter yesterday who helped us choose and customize our cake, and(I believe) the head baker were all super friendly and patient. The head baker even cut a sample of his favorite pastry, cream cheese Danish, for me to try! He encouraged me to try a sample of another pastry but I kindly declined because I was just too full.

Cute little bakery in San Gabriel. It is in the same building as Whatever Tea Lounge… across the street from the always busy Golden Deli. I came here because the wait at Golden Deli was pretty long and I had nothing to do with my GF. As soon as we entered, we were offer FREESAMPLES of their baked goods. I never had bakery offering samples. Of course, I tried them and they were delicious. We ended up getting a shredded pork bun and a taro mochi bun. Both were great. Service was super friendly and nice.

A morning filled with buttery air — everything was just baked and put on display which is the perfect time to get your carb on. The CHICKENFILLEDPUFFPASTRYSQUAREDCHECKEREDTOP(if you’re taking this name i want copyrights, but no, that was not its name!) was enjoyable, so soft and fresh, extremely buttery, like a croissant-crossover. It didn’t even have the change to see the light beyond the cart… My friend got the GREENTEASWIRLYTOPBUN which was apparently«very green tea-ish»…almost matcha-like… Lot’s of interesting breads, comparable to the varietal 85 Degrees bakery, good quality but not mind blowing. Very average. The Latte was a huge miss. What a sad way to start my morning, nice foam but no coffee taste! where are the beans?! it tasted like hot water… SOBAD I may return for the baked goods, but the coffee was terrible. NO! Free parking in the back. Disclaimer, the names are made up by yours truly.

They have portuguese style egg tarts. Those are the best kinds of egg tarts and I find that they’re hard to come by in the SGV. And D’ange makes them well. Need I say more?

Stopped by here this past Sunday with my husband after picking up some fresh sashimi at Yama Seafood across the street(Also across the street is Golden Deli). We parked in the lot behind the bakery and walked in through the back. We were immediately greeted by the employee behind the cashier and were offered a sample of their cream cheese filled baked bread(according to this employee, this is one of their best sellers). It was soft and quiet pleasant. We ended up purchasing $ 15+ baked goods after browsing their selection and paid in cash($ 20 minimum credit card transaction is rather a bit high, or you can pay a $ 0.50 charge with credit card under $ 20). We purchased 2 different kinds of taro filled buns, one pineapple bun, one pumpkin bread and one cream cheese filled bun as well. Each of the baked items we had over this past week has been great(some were better heated in the microwave though). Overall, really enjoyed this bakery. The prices are pretty fair, especially for the size of their buns and taste. Employees here are very friendly(much friendlier than most Asian bakeries). Will definitely come back here again the next time I am in the area.
