Another great find from Unilocal!Came for lunch a couple of times and we’ve enjoyed all of the dishes and drinks that we’ve tried. Some favorite dishes include the pan fried e-fu noodles with fish puff and kobacha and the baked kobacha fish fillet rice. They also have a special where you get a free dish(either half a chicken or dumplings) if you order $ 25 worth of food. We’ve tried the chicken and it is pretty good. We’ve also tried the mixed gluten plate, which is two pieces each of 6 different types/flavors of gluten(3 different types with the traditional type offered in 4 different flavors). Compared to the appetizer dish, the lunch dish comes with rice, veggies, and a drink. We’ve also tried the fish puff noodle soup — the fish puff is good but the dish is kind of plain otherwise. All of the food is pretty good or at least decent. The food here is not too greasy or overly salty. As for the drinks, the lemonade and teas are also not too sweet. The menu says that the food is prepared with no MSG, low sodium soy sauce. Overall, the food here is tasty, portions are huge, reasonably priced, and healthier(in comparison to other café places).

Dang!!! The pork, fish puff rice noodle soup is awesome. I added chilli oil cuz that’s how I roll. Very tasty pork, super tender the meat just fall off the bone. Plus the lemon ice tea just right, better than most places around here, free when you come in during lunch time. I gotta come back and try more things would say 5 star but can’t until then.

I don’t know why this place got so many good reviews. Honestly, it is not even that great. I ordered their chicken wing with fish ball noodle soup. The soup was so bland and the noodles were not even that good. I added some spicy oil to it, and it made it slightly better, but it still wasn’t that great. To make a good noodle soup, your soup needs flavoring. You can’t have it taste like water. The lunch special came with a soup and a free drink. I got the Thai iced tea, but that was so watered down too. Barely any tea at all, and it wasn’t even sweet. I had bad tea before, but at least it was sweet. This was just like water. We also wanted to come here for porridge, but they do not have the You Tiao(Fried bread stick). Normally, a place that serves porridge should have that. Anyway, they did not even have many choices – only one choice of porridge. A Chinese/Hong Kong restaurant should have these basics.

Dinner last night with the pops and grams. Hong Kong Kitchen sits in one of the several plazas lining Valley Blvd. One look at the menu and I realized I’ve never seen this type of «HK» style food before. Their menu boasts a lot of dishes with«fish puff» as the main ingredient and it looked amusing. Alas, we did not go with the puffs. We started with a cold, vegetarian platter of bean curd marinated in different sauces –tasty!, then went into a mixed veggie dish that contained lotus root, several types of mushroom and kabocha squash –crisp, fresh and not too heavy. On followed sauteed on choy –super fresh with garlic, a stewed pork tendon dish –extremely good in texture, but a bit too sweet, and a complimentary marinated chicken –which was delish! It was tender, juicy and the skin was neither too slimy or fatty. I’m coming back soon!

I came here once with my friend and once with my family and both times everyone likes the food. The first time I came here I had their beef tendon with fish tofu noodle. Their beef tendon is extremely soft and tasty. Their fish tofu also taste very good. Since this is a lunch special I get a bowl of soup and a free drink also for $ 7.50. That’s a pretty good price for the amount and quality of food I get. Their lemon ice tea is not like the one you get at most cafes. They seems to use passion fruit tea or something so it has a sweet flavor to it instead of the regular syrup taste. The 2nd time I came here we got their rice wine chicken noodle, spicy beef tendon rice, chicken spaghetti. Their rice wine chicken has a rich flavor to it and so it seems they prepared it for a long time. The spicy beef tendon also soaked with spicy sauce which makes them extremely soft and tasty. Their chicken spaghetti comes in a huge portion so we didn’t end up finish it. Overall I will definitely come back again for the price and quality of food. I still don’t get why nobody comes to this restaurant at lunch time?

I really do love this place. I’m pretty hard to please when it comes to HK style food. I used to eat pork chop rice everyday for lunch so I was looking for something similar when I came here — and was not disappointed! Ordered it with pasta instead of rice and received enough food for two people. These dishes are BIG and so I would share them with someone. There was plenty of delicious pork chop to go with the noodles but the sauce was just amazingly tasty and I was scraping my plate for more. Also, the service here was very nice to us and kept asking us if we wanted multiple refills for our lemon iced tea. I got many refills because the tea was not too sweet and had just the right amount of sugar — just the way I like it. I am coming back for the baked seafood rice when I am up in the SGV area!

Came by the other day when a fellow Unilocaler, Chi A., found this place while craving baked pork chops. The restaurant was mostly full at 8 pm on a Saturday. Some of the things we ordered were the Baked Pork Chops Over Rice, the Baked Seafood Over Rice, the Fish and Mushroom E-Fu Noodles. Since our order was well over $ 25, we received a complimentary chicken. Started off the meal with the HK Style Milk Tea. It was okay, not super strong. It wasn’t that great later on when the ice melted and diluted the drink. The soup arrived for those of us who opted for the combo meal(entrée, drink, soup, and dessert). The soup was light, and had a strong taste of chicken. Reminded me of the soup I grew up drinking! The Baked Pork Chops Over Rice and the Baked Seafood Over Rice hit the spot! The marinara sauce used in the Pork Chop dish wasn’t too strong, the way I like it. The Fish and Mushroom E-Fu Noodles were the highlight of the meal. The fish balls were tender and tasty! The dessert was made with some sort of ginger. I’m usually not a fan of ginger, but I still liked it. Not too sweet. Overall, the food tasted very home-style. Apparently they don’t use MSG? The waitress did have a hard time understanding my buddy in English, though. I guess come with people that speak Cantonese? I’ll be back!

My mom said I had to try this place because it’s similar to the cafes in HK… Well I was not impressed. The workers there are kind of rude and they should specify their refill policy on drinks. The food was not that special either. It reminds me of the noodle soups I can make. I didn’t come out to pay for a bowl of noodles that I can make myself and deal with rude servers. The only good part about this place is the sweet and sour vegan dish they have. I was craving it after having it a couple times in Hong Kong and that cured my cravings! I say, just come here for that. If you are in the area, you should get Boiling Point or Ajisen Ramen instead!

Unilocalers, thank you for the solid reviews that convinced me to give this place a try. Unfortunately, some Chinese restaurants are not only known for their food, but the notoriously rude service that comes along with it is fairly common. Unlike the rest, HK Kitchen thoroughly impressed me. Our server’s patience and attentive service is definitely commendable. They did not fit into the stereotype and eating with my picky Grandma can make a server lose their patience. The lunch specials are as low as $ 7 bucks and it includes a herbal soup along with a drink of your choice. The options are nearly endless and if you know me, I love choices and combinations. We ordered a few drinks like the Thai ice tea, lemon tea(my favorite), hot tea and they were all yummy with a strong dosage of caffeine. They speak Cantonese and English very well, so plenty of people do takeout for lunch here. The place is bright, friendly, clean and I really enjoy their flowing fountain décor. It offers a serene and inviting environment. Now onto the food. With combos after combos and pictures to show me more than words can describe, it was a helpful way to assist us with our decision. I love that fact they offer brown rice as opposed to white or fried rice. Like I mentioned, endless options =) The braised beef brisket with tendons were so tender, with a bit of spice and bok choy to make it a meal. They’re known for their fun(noodles) and the options of pork, chicken or even fish is available. This is a solid 5 star restaurant and I can’t wait to go back for a dosage of caffeine and awesome food.

Awesome place for honest-to-goodness soup noodles. You can always find me here after a good massage from upstairs. Gluten platter, noodles, then the ginger juice custard/milk pudding. Can’t wait to come again. I miss the ginger dessert!

Hong Kong Kitchen is a hidden treasure with great authentic Chinese food which makes their lunch menu more attractive and affordable. The lunch menu comes with soup and a free drink with refills. My personal favorite is the spicy braised pork ribs with five grain rice. Of course, if you decide to call in for a to-go order, CHECKYOURORDERBEFOREYOULEAVE. Only complaint: I ordered 5 grain rice as substitute for white rice in one of my to-go orders and they gave me white rice.

Was there a couple of weeks ago having lunch. It was not super busy and the staff was very nice. I had the pig cartilage and fish tofu with rice noodles. Very flavorful and nice portions. Like all Chinese places, the lunch specials comes with a drink. Very cheap too. Can’t beat that!

Went here to eat again with my dad and his friends after church. The Chinese name of the restaurant has changed, and it’s no longer the one in the picture, but I believe the English name is the same. It’s really a luck or no luck thing to come here on a Sunday afternoon to see if it’s crowded. We took a chance, and luckily it wasn’t too crowded.(Usually a lot of people from the various churches will come here to eat lunch.) I ordered the pork, beef, and fish ball with noodle soup and a lemon iced tea. Their lemon tea is different from the regular Hong Kong style cafes. It’s a lot sweeter … I believe they use a different tea when making the lemon tea. I like that it has refills! It’s a big bowl of noodles and there were two beef, two pork and four fish balls which isn’t bad. My dad ordered the pig knuckle with rice, but there wasn’t too much rice. He usually orders the baked pumpkin fish dish(which is really big!). The food is pretty good in general, but I wish they had more variety in their menu. The pork chops looked good and tasty, and they give you a plate of chicken when you order more than four dishes, I believe.

Simple place. Good food, very tasty. We ordered the pork with tendons, its so good! Must order! We also had the fish puff(like gluten) with Chinese Broccoli, good too. You get free poached chicken if you order $ 25 and up. The poached chicken is very good. We also ordered the beef brisket in hot pot… Just okay … Found it too sweet for my taste. We will come back and try other dishes.

Hong Kong Style food is my parents’ go to cuisine besides out regular Shanghai cuisine. The food here taste good, the price is right, place is clean, not overly crowded and the service is tentative. We got the family dinner special: for $ 28, you get to pick 3 dishes from 40 choices plus complimentary half cold-cut chicken plus complimentary soup and plain rice. We picked: 1) Lobster with E Fu Noodle: To my surprise, the lobster is actually not petite size. 2) Steamed Live Tilapia: perfectly steamed and the sauce was the right amount of saltiness. 3) Stir fried Assorted mushroom, gluten, with tofu and veggie. 4) Complimentary chicken: tender, juicy and flavorful. Mommy and daddy approved! Will definitely go back whenever we feel like cheap steamed fish and lobster noodle.

I went there so many times that I have lost count already. I love their seafood, tofu and pumpkin porridge. The dessert ginger juice with milk is my fav too. They will pore the milk into a bowl of ginger juice in front of you and let it sit for 2 – 3 mins. Then it will become semi-solid and ready to eat. Always my fav.(Check out the photo)
