This place is a hit or a miss. I’ve never been here earlier than after 9PM so i’m not sure how the service is during the day. Late at night, there usually one waitress who is very nice… but always seem to be lost in space. The food here are really reasonably priced. Order the pot stickers, beef noodle soup, and green onion pancake. yes, they’re oily and a bit fattening, but at the wee hours of the night, you cant really go wrong. Sometimes the food lack in flavor quite a bit, but for what it is, and for the portion of the food, it’s a pretty good deal.

Really friendly service on a Friday night, and food came out quickly. Loved their fried pot stickers. they were longer and a bit more delicate/gourmet that your standard grease bomb. Wontons in spicy sauce was a favorite as well. They didn’t have a veggie dumpling but whipped up one for us on request. And we happened to come in while they were making fresh buns. so they gave us a few too =) By 10:30pm. the crowd really started to pick up so I assume they’re a popular late night snack hang out.

My friends and I came here after getting a foot massage next door. We ordered the shrimp fried rice, green onion pancake, lamb soup, and pork /cabbage dumplings. In addition to the green onion pancake we ordered, they gave us an additional green onion pancake so we ended up having two. The green onion pancakes remind me of the thai dessert Roti which they add condensed milk and sugar to it. I was a good base to have if you didn’t have any rice with your meats. The pancakes were big, and it was sliced into slices of pizza. I like this kind of pancake more than the ones you get at the Korean restaurants. The lamb soup was good, although it also came with tripe. It was a very basic soup with just lamb, tripe, and cilantro. What made the soup good was the broth mostly. The pork and cabbage dumplings were okay, you got six pieces and they were steamed. It’s not a good substitute for dim sum, but it was still good nonetheless. The shrimp fried rice was super fried /oily which of course made it pretty good. Also it was loaded with tons of peas as well as a few pieces of scrambled egg. For what you get, this is a pretty good place to eat. Between the five of us the bill came out to around $ 30.

We wanted some soup late night and not a lot of places were open around the area., so we decided to come to this place. It’s a hole in a wall. I ordered a beef noodle soup combo which came with 2 «cold dishes» literally outta the fridge. The cold dishes were pretty gross. The soup tasted a bit weird, water downed, no flavor. Biggest dumplings I’ve ever had though. I would give this place 2.5 stars. At least, The dumplings were decent.

You know you can’t be too picky when it is already after midnight and you are beyond starving. Thank goodness for late night Taiwanese food at this hour. Food was not bad but nothing was spectacular. Staple dishes like xiao long bao, vegetable stir fry and noodle soup were average. The better out of all was probably the green onion pancake. It was very crispy and fairly flavorful. If it was during regular hours I know I will walk right passed this place. But for late night hour, NT Dumpling House did just fine.

I love going to this plaza cause the food there is pretty good. You cannot go wrong with any restaurants there. they are pretty much similar in food choice. My favorite dish there is the beef noodle soup. The portion is big, good and cheap. Lot of beef in the soup and very tender. I usually get the combo which include a free green onion pancake and two cold side dish. The XLB there is the bomb. I Thought Jin Jin has the best XLB in this plaza but now I think Dumpling house is as good as JJ. The Lady server is pretty nice. Very soft spoken and polite:) she always smiles:) and she alwyas gives me some free stuff(from free coke drink to free pancake). I can now honestly call myself authentic chinese food connoisseur cause my diet has switched to authentic asian food for the last two years. There is a big underground parking so no shortage for parkings there

We tried this place cause it was 2am and it was right there. It’s kinda difficult to communicate with the proprietors of the restaurant cause they don’t speak much English and all the signs were in Chinese. We thought we were off to a good start, because that means the place must be pretty legit, right? The steamed dumplings were pretty good… it’s pretty hard to screw those up, though. I think House of Mandarin Noodle is way better than this place. Din Tai Fung too, but that’s obvious — they specialize in xiao long bao, so that’s a given. The beef noodle soup was pretty whatevs. House of Mandarin Noodle is waaaay better. It’s not even in the same category. We also tried the Lamb with Cumin. It was really gamey(sp?). I’ve ordered lamb at many different Chinese places before, and I normally LOVE it. I don’t know about this place, but maybe it was the part of the lamb they were using. It was super gamey, fatty, and oily… and that might be WHY it tasted like that. The old guy that was cooking came out and pointed at some stuff on the menu, telling us they were out of a couple things we ordered. When I looked down at his fingers, they looked DISGUSTING!!! It looked like he just changed the oil in his car, or was rebuilding an old engine or something back there!!! There was so much black stuff(dirt?) encrusted into the crevasses of his skin — looked kinda like he just got fingerprinted or something?! Even his nails were super dry and brittle and dark, and looked like they were going to break off into our food when he handled it. Seriously, his nail looked like one of those thousand year eggs or something… all dark brown, cracked up and rounded, looking like some bird was about to hatch out of it. Shit was crazy! I normally don’t get grossed out by stuff, but that honestly made me lose my appetite… and I’m fat, so that NEVER happens. The old guy and old lady at the restaurant were REALLY really nice… but seeing that dude’s dirty old fingers grossed me the F out. I think I’ll just stick to House of Mandarin Noodle. Or when it’s late at night, I suppose I’ll just stick to Garden. or Jack in the Box. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.

2.5 stars. It was 11pm and after the worst«meal» of the century, we were in a fight(we are always fighting! I’m so fucking tired). I saw Dumpling House and was like, okay we are going there. She didn’t want to go and then we had a fight about that. Once we got in, the menu hardly had any dumplings and I wanted to leave, and she wanted to stay. I was tired of fighting, so we stayed. She ordered the corn soup and 2 Beijing yogurts and I got a pork and cabbage dumpling. Their dumpling menu SUCKED. It had maybe 4 kinds of dumplings and the fillings were weird, like beef, or chicken. We are from Beijing and my family never cooked beef or chicken dumplings. It’s weird. It’s always been pork, and maybe seafood, if we are trying to be all fancy, but really only just PORK. The dumplings themselves were definitely NOT made in the restaurant. They were bought frozen and then boiled(we could all do that at home you know, for like 10% of the price). It was really disappointing. The fillings were perfect, round, solid balls of whatever and there were no bamboo grating imprints on the skin, where there would be if they were made from scratch and placed on the bamboo slats. The corn soup was somewhat more authentic but it’s tasteless, even in a perfect world(I didn’t order it). Yogurts were good. The kind you buy from Beijing. They gave us free scallion pancakes. That was a nice gesture. It was a cheap meal but I would definitely not be back with all the great food choices close by. For a place that advertises as a dumpling house and to just boil store bought frozen dumplings, it’s pretty bad. AND, THEYDON’T HAVE A BATHROOMINSIDE. What’s with Chinese places and the bathrooms? I ate the food with dirty hands and am probably sick now.

After two visits to this place, I’ve concluded that this restaurant is like a man with premature ejaculation – it gets your hopes up but never delivers the high. If you like Northern Chinese food, you may like this place. I find their food rather bland and dissatisfying.

LOVEIT! So far, I’m the only person I know who loves potstickers. When I used to live in West Covina, I loved going to this dumpling place, but just recently heard they closed down. Pan fried or steamed, I really like dumplings. So when I discovered this place, it put a smile to my face and I was excited to try it. It’s a pretty small spot for a dine-in place. But I got mine to go. I ordered the pan fried dumplings, steamed chicken, egg & shrimp dumplings, and green onion pancake. All cheap and was very surprised when I got home and opened up my containers because the servings were a lot! They were all tasty and so much more than what I paid for. Just wish they would have better and bigger containers for their dumpling sauce because they’re tiny and gave me just two small«to go» containers. When I went back for the second time, I ordered the steamed beef dumplings and Shanghai style Chow Mein. YUMMMMM!!! I’m definitely coming back to try more things here. And an added bonus about the place is that they’re open till 3am 7 days a week! Bring cash because they don’t accept any debit or credit cards. If you go during the day, there’s usually an older lady who can wait on you, but I think she can only understand some english but not speak it. But don’t worry, she’ll still be helpful and attentive and give service with a smile! Why not 5 stars? Parking can be a hassle if you come here on a busy time. Other than that… I still just barely discovered this place and still need to try more things on their menu.

The waitress/service was very good. Generally, the waitress doesn’t smile much, but this lady was cheerful throughout. The Shanghai style XLB was very good — lots of juice! The Crispy Hand-Pulled Pancake was not what I expected — so I can’t say if it was good or not… I also got the Sesame Sauce Noodles — it was bad, but it was delicious either… Not much taste although a lot of extras as you can see from my photo. Would only order the XLB if I go back.

I seriously cannot say enough good things about NT Dumpling House! The food was delicious and the service was beyond amazing. It’s just not the kind of service you expect to receive at a Chinese restaurant. Maybe it was because it was 1am and there was no one else in the restaurant at the time, but regardless, it was a spectacular experience. We came here mainly because of the crazy cheap $ 8.99 combo for two cold sides, green onion pancake and beef noodle soup. We were debating whether or not to get the xiao long bao but decided to wait and see if we were still hungry. I thought we were allowed to choose the cold sides, but our server brought out two dishes of pickled cucumbers and anchovies&peanuts. These were just okay. The green onion pancake and beef noodle soup came out minutes later. Oh my gosh, the green onion pancake was so good. It was warm and doughy and flakey. The beef noodle soup, even more amazing! The noodles tasted so fresh like they were made in house. The broth was just as tasty, just the right amount of salt and flavor. The meat was a little tough to chew, but it wasn’t bad. Wow, I thought, this was soo worth my $ 9! We were glad we didn’t order the xiao long bao, or else we would’ve been stuffed over the top! What REALLY got me about this place was the service. As soon as we walked in, our server seated us and brought over tea. He was so kind to even pour the tea for us. Then when he brought out our beef noodle soup, I asked for an extra bowl since we were sharing, he helped us split the noodles! He was so courteous and such a sweetheart. He packed up our leftover green onion pancake and chatted with us. My Chinese isn’t the best, but I think he said all the noodles ARE made in house! Don’t quote me on that, but it was that good. Perfect texture and taste. I am definitely coming back! It’s my new favorite noodle house!

Hungry for them oriental dumplings at 900 hours, so we fire up the ol’ Unilocal machine on our newfangled telephone device. «New Taste Dumpling House», opened one hour ago, 4 miles due east. Solid. We boarded our automobile and zoomed down the expressway, only to discover the joint was closed. Unilocal, you lied to me again, you son of a beehive. We discovered the menu says they open at 10(they do), their door says they open at 11(they don’t) and Unilocal says they open at 8(what). We mentioned this to the friendly lady of the house, but she only offered a smile as substitute for her broken english. It’s okay — that’s why chinese menus are always numbered. THEFOOD: The food averages about $ 5 to $ 7 and the amount you receive adequately reflects the price. Everything on the menu comes with extra oil, free of charge. 1. Pan fried dumplings Gigantic servings, filled with pork I believe. Tasty. 2. Corn porridge Seems to be just equal parts ground up corn(arguable), water, and oil. It wasn’t bad, and it wasn’t good — it was utterly tasteless. I imaging this is not unlike the stuff Neo had to eat after he was rescued from the Matrix. I tried adding soy sauce, but the improvement was minimal. Can any experts on this dish shine some light my way and tell me what the hell this is? At least it was only $ 2 for big bowl of it. 3. Beijing style beef pan cake Delicious. I’ve always wanted to try these type of «pancakes». It equate it more like a chinese version of a french crêpe, but then again, I think of crepes as the french version of pancakes. Noticeably oily, evident by the pool soaking into the wax paper beneath it. 4. Crispy beef cake Tastes just like the Beijing style beef pan cake, except it’s a small pocket. Reminded me of an empanada. Digging a fork into it was like prodding a hole in the levees of New Orleans. Fortunately, only one of the cakes out of three popped like a pubescent pimple. 5. Tea Yeah, it’s complimentary, but it was the weakest tea I’ve ever had and I feel that it’s worth noting. The first pour ran almost clear, and I thought maybe it just needed to steep a little longer. 5 and 10 minutes later, same thing. I suspect that they’re recycling teabags. There were things I absolutely disliked, and things I really enjoyed. The pan cake and beef cake were delicious, albeit all the oil and similarities. The dumplings were good too. We left full, but far from satisfied. The ludicrous amount of oil left an awful taste in our mouths until we doused it with something sweet elsewhere. The verdict: coming back here again wouldn’t be high on my list unless I was specifically craving their pan cakes. Cash only.

One thing that really grinds K’s nerves is when he orders something and the restaurant is out of it. What really grinds my nerves is when you order something else and the restaurant is also out of that. NT Dumpling House(which is the sign on the window, so look for that in the far back of the plaza, the plaza next to the Hilton plaza) advertises that it’s open late into the night. When we went for dinner(specifically because it was already just about 9PM), we had high hopes even if our car had almost been sideswiped by a typical retarded driver in the parking lot. But it’s okay, because we were about to eat delish dumplings… right? K wanted the chicken leg rice– sorry, out of chicken. I wanted the mixed cold dish, beef tendon– sorry out of everything except tofu beancurd and peanuts. Only when the server saw my face fall did she hurry and add that they might have seaweed too. Not off to a good start. K decided to order the«Chicken noodle soup with vegetables» only to be told it had no chicken. Just soup. We’d already placed an order for a plate of dumplings and Xiao Long Bao or I was seriously debating just paying a dollar tip and leaving. Finally I managed to get the server to just turn the cold shredded chicken noodle into a hot soup for K, ordered a marinated pig intestine and tendon clay pot. The chicken dumplings weren’t good at all. They tasted frozen, flat and not juicy, the flavor no better than something I’d buy from 99 ranch. The XLB were mostly ripped, the skin hard, the meat bland. Although she gave us ginger, not much could save the taste. The pig intestine was good and the tendon chewy but the dish was too salty and after a few pieces, the saltiness of the soy sauce became overpowering and I had to wash down the rest of my bites with soup. Ironically, the dish we had the least expectations for was the chicken noodle soup. The soup was light but with a good strong chicken taste like it’d been brewed for at least a while. The chicken pieces were chewy and not dry and the few vegetables floating around were okay. Half a star for the server being a good sport and figuring out a noodle soup for us and half a star for the noodle soup being edible. I’m probably never coming back, even if they give you free green onion pancake for orders over $ 13.

Do you ever have one of those Xiao Long Bao(XLB) craving days/nights? Whenever I have one of those XLB cravings, I usually just call my friend up to meet at the«XLB and Foot Massage Plaza». You would understand why I would call it the«XLB and Foot Massage Plaza» if you have been here before, because there are 3 different foot massage parlor and 3 different restaurants serving XLB there. PROS: — Open until late into the night — Free Green Onion Pancake CONS: — Waitress didn’t speak much English — Cash Only Very little disappointed to see that Dragon Mark is no longer there, but I really can’t tell much differences between the old Dragon Mark v. the new N.T. Dumpling House. Menu is about the same, food quality is about the same, waitress still can’t speak English, and it’s still CASHONLY… Ordered the following and was quite happy with my order: — XLB: Moist and Juicy. 2 Thumbs Up — Spicy Beef Tendon Noodle Soup: While this noodle soup is suppose to be spicy, I didn’t taste a hint of spiciness in it. Perhaps the cook forgot to add the chili to the soup? *shurgs* Overall, it was good, but I wish they can make me even happier if they can mix beef and tendon in the same bowl. — Combination Dumplings: Felt that it was a little overcooked. Definitely lost its flavor after I had my XLB. OVERALL: No complaints. What more can you ask for when you can get 3 dishes + a free Green Onion Pancake for less than $ 20.

New Year, New Taste! It’s about time I made it to the infamous Dumpling House where the SGV mayor got xiao long bao’d. The place is small, located on the first floor of the strip mall at 301 Valley Blvd where the parking is free and plentiful during the week, but feels like Costco on the weekends. I almost got distracted by neighbors Mei Long Village and Happy Kitchen — 2 places I’ve been wanting to try, but I’ll save them for next time. There were so many items on the menu that I wanted to try — noodles, dumplings, baos, even clay pots! We settled on: XLB(aka Shanghai style steamed pork dumpling) — very moist and juicy, but the pork filling was just… pork. That’s probably why I like dumplings better — more creative fillings. Here’s a tip from my friend on eating them: put the XLB on a soup spoon, bite the top of the XLB to create a hole without spilling the juice, spoon a little dipping sauce into it, then eat the whole thing in 1 bite. Delicious! Beef roll — 2 large rolls cut in half so you have 4 pieces to share. They’re a little smaller than the beef roll at 101 Noodle, but I think there’s more beef. Very tasty beef, but I agree, it’s sweeter than what I’m used to. Pork and Vegetable Dumpling — solid traditional dumplings, good flavor, and nice, chewy skins, not too thick. I didn’t know they give you a scallion pancake for free if you order over $ 13, so that was a nice surprise. The pancake was very good, not too oily. Overall, all the food was really good, and the people were super friendly. Our Chinese wasn’t very good, and they speak limited English, but the menu’s in English so you can just point to what you want. Definitely a great choice. Cash only, and open to 3am!

How tasty is New Tasty Dumpling House? In my opinion, only moderately tasty. Yes, it’s very nice that the place is open until 3am but I’m pretty sure you will never find me there after 10:30pm. The whole time we were dining(9:15pm-10pm), there were no other customers. Beef Noodle Soup — 2*(The noodles themselves were subpar. I like thick, chewy noodles. These were skinny, wimpy noodles.) Beef Roll — 3*(Same beef as the beef in the noodle soup. There was way too much plum sauce and it tasted too sweet.) Liu Rou Duanr — 4*(Pork that’s breaded and fried with sauce over it. How could you go wrong with fried pork? It reminds me of China…) Overall, this place suffers from too much hype. After all, even Jonathan Gold did some digging on New Tasty. This place simply didn’t deliver. We ended up going over to J&J next door to eat part 2 of our meal.

So what is this place really called? New Taste Dumpling House or New Tasty Restaurant? Anyways, I came here because a friend saw on the news that the mayor of San Gabriel got in a fight here w/his girlfriend(yes, he’s married) and wanted to check the place out. I usually come to this plaza to eat at Mei Long Village, but this was a first for me at New Tasty. Food was cheap(cheaper than Mei Long Village) and good for the price. We got the soupy dumplings, which were not as good as next door, and a beef roll, which was good but came out cold. It also did not have enough of the dark sweet sauce and didn’t come w/any on the side. Also, the service is pretty much non-existent. We had to go up twice to the kid working there to get water and utensils. Good place to go very late at night or early in the morning — they’re open from 8 a.m. to 3 a.m. every day!

NT Dumpling House is awesome! It is different from your typical Chinese places but this place has some awesome food! Order the beef rolls and the sesame sauce cold noodles. You should also try their beef intestine soup, the cold seaweed w/garlic and their Kung Pao Chicken. If you come with a group, try to keep it small as their dining area is not that big. The food is fresh off the grill! They’re open late(till 3am) and even if you don’t speak a lick of Chinese, you can just point and order. You should make sure you have enough cash as they’re a cash only business. Their food is pretty good and it doesn’t make you feel like a fat person leaving. You can park in the parking structure underground or the parking spaces that are around the shopping complex.

Happy, Fobby name? Yes. Open till 3 am. Yessss. Is it tasty as hell? YESSSSSSSSSS you see, unlike the westside, or i fondly call it «where chinese food goes to die white area», the turnover for chinese food joints located in the likes of san gabriel, alhambra, arcadia(basically the 626 area) for mediocre to just ok chinese food is quite brutal. not only is competition fierce, which is good for our pocketbooks, but the quality is top grade, and everything is open late. you Unilocalers might know this place. in it’s other lifetime, it was called Dragon Mark. you know. kinda dirty, food was alright, but since J and J and mei long were closed, everyone had to go to the only place open till 3 am. but now this place kind of got a little facelift. and though i’m not a fan of plastic surgery, this was much needed. now when you walk, in there’s random oil paintings, with prices on them.(yeah, i’m a little confused on that one too), a flat screen t.v., and little ikeaesque bowls where you can dip your shiao long in. as i peruse the menu, the items seem to have not changed at all. usual misspellings, which might confuse a non-asian person. Caly pot? I’m going… going.back.back …to caly caly??? no. they mean clay pot. and one of the bangingest, most sumptuous, consistent dishes here? THe Chicken with potato soup. It’s cooked slowly in the claypot, and there’s black fungus, mushrooms, potatoes, these little dried red berries(olive shaped), and clear noodles.(sorry, i don’t know many of the chinese names). the broth seems to be made from scratch, and one order can readily feed two hungry people. fuck tylenol! all you need is some CALYPOTCHICKENSOUP! don’t front. get it! the shiao long bao now comes in normal and crab. i had the crab today– the skin felt a bit tough, not like the thin, delicate feeling you get from J and J next door. Which is why i was a bit suspicious… i hate frozen shit. but the meat inside was juicy and fresh… so who knows? I also ordered the onion pancake. MMMMMMMMMMMMMM. fried in god knows how much oil, blistering hot, while i simultaneously puff away at my fingers and chew while trying to hold on to the triangular piece of goodness. the bill came out to 21.(including tip, tea, and the three dishes). AND best part? i got to watch some random show in chinese called«I AMTHEONE»…seems like some strange american idol, gone chinese version… why do all the men on their have sidebangs… ok… another time for that. GOEATHERE. the quality HAS gone up, trust me! eat eat eat!
