San Gabriel Police Department

i was done doing laundry along las tunas and san marino ave today sunday oct 4 2015 At 12nn we noticed a tall black guy taking pictures of us and our cars.(the peoe at the lot and our cars) i got out of my car and asked him what he was doing but instead of answering he just walked away but as soon as I returned to my car he went back to taking pictures. I immediately made a mistake of calling this police station coz the lady who amswered was so rude and clearly not concerned. She didn’t think that we should be afraid that a total
stranger was taking pictures of us and our vehicles without our consents and refused to answer when confronted. she was very sarcastic and even asked me why i was afraid. IF THIS IS THE KIND OF LAW ENFORCEMENT THIS CITY HAS THEN I SUGGEST WE MOVE TO ANOTHER CITY THEY ARE A DISGRACE TO THEIR DEPARTMENTS

The lady on the phone is rude, impatient and disrespectful. Don’t bother wasting time with her and just actually go in. The other people there are actually much more friendly and helpful than her. Don’t let her scare you off!

This police station is really small and stuck in the middle of the darker/​messier area of San Gabriel. On the two occasions that I actually had to go inside and speak to someone, the people who I met with were really rude and short with their responses. They did not seem to have the patience to help me and just kind of brushed off what I said. I will say though, the response time of the police here is pretty good. I once made a call about a few suspicious characters hanging outside of a local liquor store and they arrived within half an hour… but then again, the store was right down the street from the station.
In my opinion, even if the police are going to be there no matter what… they should still be kind and helpful to everyone. I definitely feel that the people who work at this particular station are not happy to be stuck in the San Gabriel Valley area and want to work in a «higher» class location. I feel that the police department should earn our trust, and not be so rude/​abusive to their local community. If I had a choice of stations in the area, then I would not be coming here.

Hey there! Ur parking area on the side of ur premise isn’t perfect. You all guys inside think you do perfectly. That limited parking space you have, people have to drive/​use the other way of direction. And you said it’s a violation to doing so.
It’s great to have 2am-​6am no street parkings, as to avoid crimes.
With all the tickets city have issued, perhaps city can better their police station. So that the officers don’t feel too cramped inside, can think more outside of the box. They’re so uptight right now, no greetings or whatsoever. I wouldn’t trust these kind of qualities of personals to serve. Wouldn’t be a surprise if they just care and protect themselves.

I stopped by here to file a report for something with my car. I was greeted by a pretty staff at the counter and she went to get someone to help me right away. A second officer came and told me they were a bit shorthanded at that moment and to wait 5 minutes for another officer to assist me. Sadly I had to wait for about 40 minutes. Although most people woulda left even less stars or complained more, I am giving 4 based on Officer Paleno. He was very nice and answered everything I needed to know and was quick on giving me information I needed to move along. I’ve seen how some officers from other cities speak to people and some always has this «what do u want, or the I don’t really care get to the point» type of attitude, but this officer was really friendly and patient. Didn’t give 5 stars cus of the wait time but other than that, this officer was the only reason I gave this many. Need more people like him!

We used to have issues with our neighbors incessantly barking dog. We call and call and every single time we’re offered a different solution, call the animal humane services, file a complaint at City Hall, come to the precinct to file a report, etc, and yet NOTHING EVER WORKS. It’s just a wild goose chase if you listen, TRUST ME. Apparently your rights to peace and quiet are not important. Fuck that you have to wake up for your job at 4am and cant get a decent night’s sleep… that’s YOUR problem, not the SGPD.
I had some ass clown blocking my driveway at 3am. I called the cops and miraculously someone showed up 20 min later. I was also shocked that it was an actual officer that showed up, not their parking enforcement. At this point I’m pissed, tired, and I want justice! Nope, all he gets is a $ 35 ticket. Am I on Candid Camera??? I couldn’t let the cop leave, I asked him where I was going to park. He tells me in the most condescending tone to park on the street. I bring up the 2am parking rule to which he replies, «yeah…that’s a risk you’re going to have to take, unless you buy a parking permit» WHAT THE FUCK?! No, I then DEMANDED this car be towed and finally the cop obliged and called a tow truck.
The people that work the phones are always rude and they are always trying to rush you off the phone. They will try to cut you off and hang up as soon as you pause for a breath of air. What’s the rush? Worried that your donuts will get cold? I’m pretty sure they get a ton of stupid phone calls for different things, but damn, I guess they can no longer hide the fact that they don’t give a rat’s ass.
It’s hard to respect cops when we get treated like this. Judging by the other reviews on Unilocal,the trick to getting a cop’s attention is to drive a rice rocket or have a busted tail light. My family and I have lived in San Gabriel for 20 years and none of us can say anything nice about the SGPD.
Sometimes we don’t even bother to call them because we know nothing gets resolved. Our property gets vandalized, and we don’t even bother calling. For what? Just to get ignored, lied to, or berated? These are the people that are supposed to protect you, yet they don’t want to do shit or don’t care enough to do their jobs. These are the «fine» gentlemen and women that have been sworn to protect and serve the citizens… unfortunately they’re serving us bad attitudes, cold shoulders, and crap work.

Had some trouble a couple of months ago, called the SGPD for help (last time I had to call them was in the late 90’s and they couldn’t do diddly jack squat). The operator (who sounded like a young latino male) was a complete jackass. He was rude and condescending and completely unhelpful (and basically tried to turn me into the guilty party). He refused to send the cops (the cops came anyway because someone else called a complaint). The situation was resolved in my favor. Regardless, SGPD must have a knack for hiring miserable operators with a sausage stuck up their arse.

Dislike the city’s street parking after 2am. You cannot park on the street after 2am, or you’ll get a big ugly ticket the next morning. I remember how a few of our friends used to just park outside our friend’s place and carpool to places and won’t get back until late at night. I’d say around 1ish and we would freak out because of the 2am crap. Once, we all almost got a ticket each (there were about 4) of us, luckily we left at the same time and the officer wasn’t such an ahole.
AVOID parking on the streeeeeeeeeeeet after 2am. save yourself out of a $ 50 dollar ticket by just getting a $ 3 permit from the station. good luck and drive safely.

These guys will straight Shanghai your ass. They use intimidation on business owners to extort money. If you refuse to give in they will come in and fuck with everyone until you cant get any more business. Some of them even have the audacity to brag about the businesses they’ve helped to shut down… Its like freakin’ China in S.G. straight up

I have had so many problems in my city, and not ONCE have they solved my problem. Young man who died across my street, I called them for help, they showed up 20 minutes later.
My house was recently burglarized, I called for help, I told them they stole my ipad I can track them, the response was «if they are across the street, we can chase them, further than that I can’t do that at this moment.» I lost the family safe money, and all our jewelry, our fortune completely turned and no help.
I was pulled over because my alarm has a blue light, and the officer HIT MY CAR, and said I cannot have an alarm with a BLUE blinking light (where the door locks, small and blue), and I got a fix it ticket.
Maybe we should worry less about speeding tickets, and catching people who commit felony crimes? Just maybe my tax dollars should be worth that? Instead of me giving more money to the city when I lost all my money?

SO I have been warned about how much they like to give tickets. I think they thrive on it. They find the littlest mistakes to make money off of people. Seriously, like parking a little over 18 inches from the curb. I think they go around in each and every neighborhood searching for their next funding resource. Don’t you guys have anything better to do? Like maybe catch speed demons, criminals.
So I got a ticket for a missing sticker. It’s obvious I have been robbed coz and they could always check in the system if I had paid my dues but still gave me a ticket. Ok fine. It took time getting a replacement sticker from DMV because of a mishap and alas I get another ticket for the same reason in the same month! I went to their station to show proof I’m waiting for a replacement from DMV and if maybe they could just sign it off so I dont have to pay the full fine. I explained I was the victim here and have to pay this extra fees for a ticket I don’t deserve and this lady officer could care less saying, «well it doesn’t matter if you have paid your registration fees it’s you responsibility to make sure the sticker is there.» Seriously ma’am, you check your car every single day if the sticker is still there?” dumb ass.

I don’t understand why people are complaining about getting pulled over when they are doing something illegal? If you have ever been to an Asian country other than Japan, you will be extremely grateful that the traffic patrols are strict here. Anyways, I had a short experience with this police department to get a citation checked. Lady at the front desk was extremely polite and helpful and referred me to the CHP because I had an modified exhaust citation.

This department is great! They are officers who do their duties just fine. Yeah some are assholes, grumpy old men, young ones who think they own the streets, but hey when it comes down to it they do their job. Dont complain if they pull you over for speeding YOUR IN THE WRONG, and theyre doing their jobs, duh. Plus if they hassle acouple people big deal. yeah they may annoy 5 people but that one that they did pull over for looking shady was a criminal on drugs or a criminal who had a warrent for beating his wife. so in the end annoying a couple people to find the real criminals isnt a big deal. and if your being pulled over than there probably is a good reason and if not than sit back relax and they shall let you go. Dont get me wrong, i know a few that have attitudes and can be jerks but hey you dont know what theyve been through that day, week or month. They are people just like everyone else and they keep your city from going to the shits so give em a break!
Btw; im an ex police explorer there so i am a little bit of a fan but thats because i know these cops as people. individuals who have feelings, families and personalitys. just because you come across one bad apple doesnt mean the apple tree is rotten

I was driving through San Gabriel and I found out my muffler fell off in the middle. Apparently it was sparking, and the car next to me told me this. As soon as I found out, I pulled over and was followed into a parking lot by a San Gabriel Valley Police Officer. The next thing I know I am being frisked, detained, searched, and mocked at because my car had an issue. I thought this was overboard. I am very upset at the way I was treated.

Got pull over because of one burnt out light bulb that went out that day. Seriously. Saw the cop coming the opposite direction, saw the cop make a quick U-​TURN, saw the cop wait behind me at the light, then figure the cop was going to flash their lights at me. It all happen. Cop was nice of enough to give me a warning to get it fixed.

If Christina’s not a local resident of San Gabriel, she probably missed the snail mail sent at least twice to every resident around Christmas about the Santa on a **Firetruck** for one week in designated areas in the city.
It’s unfortunate that her experience was bad, but that’s no way the police department’s fault. Don’t sweat the small stuff, just enjoy it and drive safely!
My overall experience with the SG Police Department has been very satisfactory.
