It’s a sausage fest at Badalamente Sausage – the good kind! You know what they say about never wanting to watch sausage being made? Well, this place has a window so you can watch their sausage being made, and it only made me want to buy more sausage. The back room is really clean, like clean room clean. I bought bulk sausage from Badalamente for my Thanksgiving stuffing. When people commented on how good the sausage in it was, they were shocked – shocked I tell you – to learn that the sausage was turkey Italian rather than pork. I’ve had Italian sausage from Badalamente many times from the market, but I never knew that I could get it super fresh right here in Willow Glen. Bulk sausage is available by special order and at a significant savings over sausage in casings, and I only had to order mine one day ahead during Thanksgiving week. The folks at Badalamente were especially nice and accommodating with my schedule. How nice? When I called and said I’d be a few minutes late picking up my order, they said they’d be happy to wait and thanked me twice for calling. Good people with great products.

I went to a party recently where they were serving this sausage… OMG!!! It’s almost like there is a new class of food, calling this sausage says either all other sausages are NOT, or we need to come up with a new name for what this is!!! Chunks of juicy meat seemed to be hidden strategically in every bite… instead of the many flavors being a blended single flavor, each of them is a layer that as you chew delights your tongue with a complexity similar to a fine wine. Think I am exaggerating… try some if you dare, you’ll never look at «Sausage» the same again!

Thank you Unilocalers for a spot on recommendation. This sausage is head and shoulders above anything you find at the market, unless of course you’re fortunate to find Badalamente. I don’t know what it is– the meat? the grind? the spices? it just all comes together perfectly. They are really focused, all they make I think is Italian Sausage. A few notes if you go. They’re really a small sausage factory that sells the occasional visitor a few links. Public hours are limited Mon-Thur 7:30−1pm, closed Fri, Sat, Sun. Cash only.

It may be 2013 but you can go back in time where warm memories are made. Badalamente Sausage is just that place. It is such a friendly place that bags up the best Italian sausage ever made. They always seem to have a special sausage for sale but I always buy plenty of their Italian sausage with fennel. Now here’s my story. Its a great one so keep reading! A friend told me about this great tasting sausage that I could get at Gene’s Market in Saratoga. Bought some and fried it up in a skillet and served it up with peppers and onions. It was a hit! Turned out it was Badalamente sausage but not labeled that way in the store. I had to ask. Sometime later, I went to the Italian Festival in San Jose and saw a lot of cooking enthusiasm going on in this booth. I mean enthusiasm! One guy was frying up a huge pan of sausages. Then a bunch of guys were taking turns stirring this huge, I mean huge, pot of polenta. Oh it looked so good! It looked just mouth watering! It kept getting better as I saw this other huge pot of red sauce bubblin’ away. The booth piles on some polenta, throws on one of those sausages and buries all of it in the red sauce. Epiphany! This is something I’m going to make for the rest of my life, simple and so delicious. It is a crowd pleaser! And guess what, it is Badalamente sausage again in my life. Lightning doesn’t strike twice right??? It’s a sign! Get myself over to the real deal… Badalamente Sausage Co. in Willow Glen. Start talking to the owner about my story and he loads me up with the sausage, raw polenta and THESAUCE… all in the same place. Oh life can be sweet ya! I can’t say enough about that sauce… best you will ever taste and hold onto your hat… it comes in this huge can. Canned sauce and the best of any sauce you will ever know. Get some… you will thank me someday. Oh but it all starts and ends with the sausage, so come here and get some and start living the good life. Note: Check out opening hours before you drive here. Parking is easy.

Found this place on recommendation from uncle morrone. It’s a charming old town deli. It has tasty sausages for the pasta sauce we were making. We are going to try the spicy ones next try. They also sell wonderful cheeses. A tasty italian meat & cheese shop. We must of paid $ 1 for each sausage. The sausages are phenomenal which encourages us to want to try the entire shop :) Lucky us it’s close to us: D

This is the shop where my Grandfather and Uncles would buy there sausage when they didnt make their own. Getting a room full of Italian men to agree on anything, especially food, it must be good. The place hasnt changed in all the years(40 +) since I was a kid and the quality is second to none, either the sweet or spicy is great in link or patty form and the flavors blend in well with any pasta sauce or just BBQ with some grilled onions and peppers on a roll. If you want the spicy, get there early because they sell out of it quick.

Badalamente is the last Italian Business standing in an area of San Jose that was once a «Little Italy» Neighborhood called Goosetown. Badalamente makes one of the best Sausages in Santa Clara County and is a must visit for great Sausage and old world charm.

Great Italian Sausage! Another throwback — also great imported Provolone. Load up for the BBQ!
