Trust the shrimp but not the oysters. Generous portions, excellent taste, but pretty pricey for what you get. Location and overall hygiene made me question the quality of the raw oysters. Shrimp cocktails turned out fantastic and fresh, with a perfectly seasoned brine. Free tostada chips to round you off proper.

The owner of Mariscos San Juan, Sergio Becerra Cruz, still does not accept any responsibility for making people sick from his poor management and neglectful food handling procedures. Not acknowledging and accepting responsibility is scary and a slap in the face for all who were sickened by Sergio Cruz and his neglect. DON’T EATHERE.

Never liked sea food, but kept coming with my boyfriend, the waitress now even knows what we always order. Ha… for this is his type of food and eventually tried it. Now I am no longer afraid to try sea food thanks to them. They have the best shrimp cocktails and I know this since I have now tried them everywhere I go. Ummm…

This is a great spot to enjoy some seafood. The tostada de ceviche is made with fish and they add the traditional tomatoes, onions and cilantro. They give a great portion for only $ 2.50. We also tried the mixta tostada that has octopus, ceviche and shrimp on top. I will definitely keep coming because the service was great and very attentive. Even though the tables were all taken, the waitresses worked fast and always smiling ready to help. Come here for some seafood and a couple beers all for a good price. The plates that people around me were ordering looked very good too so I am going to have to try one of those in a future visit.

This restaurant is really good! It’s ALWAYS packed so you know they must be doing something right. The fish tacos are soooooo good. The ceviche is delicious as well. Top it off with a cold corona and it’s a winner! Can’t wait to come back.

Best SHRIMPTACOS out side of Mexico in my humble opinion. Riquisimo. Also best aguachile and campechana in northern california hands down. VERY authentic and great for when you are missing home(in mexico that is). I can’t wait to go back!

Small little restaurant, but the food is amazing. My favorite dish hands down is the spicy shrimp with the delicious Mexican rice.

I’ve been to plenty mariscos spots(mainly in L.A.) and I must say that I’ve had better. The food was OK nothing really special about it. There was live music out of this one single guy. He most definitely was holding it down for the people’s. Restroom was a mess. It was a plain mariscos. I did enjoy their tacos though. There coctel extra Large was OK.

Sooooooo first timers, you should probably bring a Spanish speaking friend or put your high school Spanish speaking skills to work lol. Most of the time waitresses do not speak english and only spanish, but there was one fluent english speaker last time I went. They are all friendly though! Anyways, this spot is kind of intimidating at first(I wouldn’t come around here at night) but its bomb! The shrimp tostadas are delicious and the plain fish ceviche tostadas and octopus tostadas are also very good. The octopus is not tough or chewy, the cook it very well. I tried some little shrimp taco things that are fried and they did have good taste but they were a little too oily for my liking. So I’ll just stick with the tostadas:) I definitely recommend this place, and I definitely recommend trying the shrimp tostadas!

The tomato base of the shrimp cocktail tasted like catchup was likely used instead of tomato juice/purée, giving an overwhelmingly sweet flavor to it. It needed a lot more fresh lime juice for a kick of acidity. It’s too bad this dish didn’t turn out because it is what they’re known for and the shrimp tostada is quite nice with very generous portion of shrimp and avocado.

My friend who lives near by thought we should have lunch at Mariscos San Juan. She and her family eat there often, but it was my first time. Each table had jars of hot sauce, saltine crackers, napkins, fried tortillas & limes cut in half. I’m sorry, but I don’t want to eat tortillas that are out for who knows how long with how many people touching them. That’s just not sanitary. Speaking of not sanitary, the plastic coated menus were covered with bits of food. Yuck. Okay, maybe my menu was the only one that was dirty, but I doubt it. My friend had the Copa Campechana, which is a big goblet filled with shrimp, octopus, avocado, & cilantro in a cold tomato soupy mixture. I had the Camarones al mojo de ajo, which was a plate with sauteed shrimp, tomato rice, and a salad of iceberg, tomato, & avocado. My shrimp were garlicky and buttery, but they were also over cooked and rubbery. There only seemed to be one waitress, and the six tables of customers seemed to be too much for her. She didn’t appear frazzled or anything, but we waited a long time to get any help. She also charged us $ 10 too much, but she did make the adjustment without any hassle. Maybe Mariscos San Juan is a good neighborhood spot, but not one that I would like to visit again, sorry.

Mixto ceviche $ 6.50 is filling and delicious, the fish ceviche $ 2.50 was also really good and the oysters(6 for $ 6) were fresh and perfect sized. Would visit this restaurant again, food is fresh, service is friendly and a cheerful environment.

I honestly didnt think this place was that great. The camerones a la diabla tasted like they used ketchup. The micheladas had too much spice inside of them and it tasted like a soup. The 7 mares was good. But its pretty hard to mess that up, considering they pretty much taste the same wherever you go.

Oh so good but oh so expensive. I’ve never spent $ 24 by myself for lunch before. There’s always a first I guess but it’s definitely worth it if I can get the tostado with tons of shrimp on it. There fish plate was also good. The fish was seasoned really well. The only thing I wish was better was the thickness of the fish. I had to struggle to cut it. It was like I was trying to catch the fish all over again. This place is small REALLLY small but it’s not crowded. I’m definitely coming back.

I love their shrimp tacos and as Asian as it might sound, but it tastes like an egg roll! Their tostada de camaron(shrimp tostada) was on point! The shrimps were huge and tasted so fresh and juicy. The only reason why I subtracted one star is because they didn’t have rice and beans… Although they ONLY serve seafood, most Mexican restaurants that I’ve been to that also just serve seafood usually have rice and beans. Also, the lady who was working at the register as well as the waiter didn’t seem to be very welcoming. She was on the phone chopping it up and just told us to seat ourself and didn’t even come to drop off the menu till she was done having her conversation. We sat there for like 5 – 10 minutes just waiting on menus.

In waiting for a mtg, we ended up here. Fast service and cheap food! I love the sign that says in Spanish This is is a family establishment, no yelling or inappropriate stuff. There were all kinds of folks there… mainly guys who had just gotten off work and were relaxing with some beers and(duh) seafood. Yes. they only serve seafood. I know it sounds dumb but some folks assume/don’t know what mariscos are… Anyways I got the ceviche(2.00) since I wasn’t that hungry… it was delicious! The plus one got the fried fillet meal(11.00) that came with salad and rice The rice was pretty amazing. I could have had a side of that and been totally happy. The cocktails also looked delicious. they take credit cards which is good… cash is preferred I need to go back!

Seafood and beer! Can it get much better than that? This place must be one of the best seafood restaurants in the South Bay. My group and I ordered the $ 16 mixto platter to split. The mixto platter was amazing and featured an assortment of seafood marinating in lime juice, tomatoes, and cilantro. You can basically build your own tostada since they serve large tostada shells instead of tortilla chips, as is typical at most Mexican restaurants. All of the seafood in the mixto was really fresh; no hint of fishiness at all. The flavors are super bright and vibrant; it’s really a refreshing dish. I also ordered the camarones rancheros, which was equally amazing. The shrimp have a nice kick to it since its cooked with peppers. The shrimp was very tender, and like the mixto, was very fresh. For non-Spanish speakers, it may be a little intimidating at first. At first the servers actually were a little surprised that we didn’t speak Spanish fluently. Nonetheless, they were very friendly and very helpful.

Shrimp cocktail & drinks are the bomb diggity. Watch some futbol on TV while you eat and try out like 10 types of hot sauce. Just avoid the oysters, though. They didn’t seem very fresh… I’ll be back. Thanks for letting me practice my terrible Spanish. :)
