I’ve visited this bakery and café a number of times over the past few years. I always enjoyed their food and especially their fabulous pastries and cakes. This last visit a week ago left me disappointed. Granted there is a little extra traffic due to Christmas in the Park but this was on a Monday around noon, still not too busy. My friend and I took a number as is their practice and waited at the empty counter. No one manning the register but three ladies were working behind the counter. We waited. And waited. One girl in the meantime, walked right by behind the counter, headed on her break, without bothering to say someone might be with us in a second, or letting the other two ladies know someone wanted to place an order. When one of the girls finally came to take our order, she was very sweet and helpful. We ordered a few slices of quiche, a hard boiled egg, croissant, and a few hot chocolates. Our order came up pretty quickly. The hot chocolates were very warm, not quite hot. The quiche were disappointing because they were barely above room temperature. And their ham and sausage quiche? Yeah, that would be hot dog sausages. I had to do a double take before taking a second bite. The piece of guava mousse cake was yummy. So the pastries and the sweet lady at the counter were the only redeeming things here. Pace of service definitely needs to change and so does some of the food!

Must visit every time I’m in town, the sweets are amazing. The first time I came here I was with my cousin who lives in the area and was rudely greeted by who seemed to be the owner. She was very rude to my cousin but seemed to be nice to me, oddly enough. If you can get past the crabby lady up front stop by and get some of the best sweets I’ve had to date.

NEVEREVEREVEREVEREVEREVER order a Red Princess Cake for Christmas. I love Princess Cakes, but have never bought one from Bijan. I was so excited to get our cake and they offered it in red for Christmas. God, was it beautiful. Took it to our party, everyone raved about it. Hell. I raved about it and how delicious they are. Served it, and my first bite I felt like it was eating a jar of aspirin. Tasted nothing like the traditional marzipan. Tasted like red food dye/chemicals. I was so embarrassed. I even apologized to the hostess and the guests for bringing this red cake that tasted like it was laced with crack rocks. Horrible. Waste of $ 40. I will stick to the shop in Palo Alto I normally get my cakes from.

The cakes are sweating/melting and nut crumbs are falling off the sides. The service is not great and the representative with a beard has no cover for his beard which makes it appear uncleanly. This location is not good at the least, and I haven’t went to this or their other locations lately as I’m starting to take my business elsewhere like Paris Baguette &808 bakery with much prettier bakery or Satura for a lighter option.

I bought a white cake today with raspberry filling… There a crack on the frosting. I was kind of hesitate but there aren’t any left. There is one that is rectangle look pretty fresh. So I asked them how much? She said 42… and later said $ 52. I ended up picking the first one. The bottom line is… it is not fresh at all The kids just get a bite and trash it.

Items tried– Persian ice cream on faloodeh and mango mousse. Taste– Faloodeh was interesting, worth trying. Add lemon juice to the faloodeh to increase the taste… it might sound funny but you will not regret it! Mango mousse was soft and fresh. Overall good quality stuff. 4 stars as it’s pricy.

This is where I go when I need an adult-like cake for my parents. My dad digs these kind of cakes. He likes fruit filled, fruit glazed cakes topped with flowers for décor. My wish is that Bijan would add just one kid-friendly cake to their selection, a simple cake thick with buttercream and NO fruit, NO jam and NO fresh flowers and NO gold cardboard cake tray. Just one birthday cake like that for kids or for those of us who aren’t into the fruit-filled cakes and bling. I’m not a fan of raspberry, lemon and mango filled cakes. I’m not a fan of chocolate ganache cakes. Bijan’s cakes are beautiful and stately(and delicious), worthy of weddings and special occasions. But sometimes, I just want a simple cake filled with simple, quality ingredients like the cakes at Icing on the Cake. I’m not talking Safeway or Costco cakes, either. Just a quality buttercream cake that kids would like. I know a lot of people love the fanciful cakes of Bijan but the cakes are just not my style. Enjoy your Bijan cakes, they are stunning. But if they would just add one standard simple buttercream frosting cake(with no fruit, no flowers, no ganache, no gold) I would be so happy! For me, simpler is better.

Ordered a birthday cake from here a few weeks ago and was extremely pleased with the entire process! I wasn’t sure what flavor to order so I went on their website to look at their specialty cakes. I decided to order the hazelnut mousse, gave them a call, and within 10 minutes the order was placed! I think the guy who helped me over the phone was named Lucky(?). Super nice guy who took the time to ask all the necessary questions(what needs to be written on the cake, time & day I wanted to pick it up, etc.) The cake was ready when I stopped by and it was so convenient! I got there around 8:30am and I think I missed the morning rush because not many customers were in there. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. We were all very pleased with how the cake turned out AND especially how it tasted. I will definitely be coming back for more cake orders and possibly try out some of their pastries. :)

Came here for some coffee and a chocolate croissant while I was waiting for the mechanic to finish up on my car. I think the thing I loved about here the most was the service. The staff was extremely friendly and it really brightened up my day to stop by. The coffee was great, but the croissant was ok. It seemed like a lot of people bought their cakes from there, so I hope to try those one day. The vibe was just like one of my favorite cafes back in LA, so maybe I’m a little biased :)

I only come here for the Persian ice cream, on faloodeh? I think it’s called. It’s rose water ice noodles. And the ice cream is nutty and like nothing I have ever tried before! You ask for lemon juice and put it over the ice cream, and the combo of the textures and the tart from the lemon, is amazing!!! This is one of the best memories of my childhood :). So glad they are still open !

I love small mom & Pop style bakeries and this one does not disappoint! Service 10, selection 10, quality 10… all tens! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I watched the manager train a new employee on the ins and outs of great customer service. When to charge extra and when not to, it was impressive. In addition the same manager knew all of his regulars by name. The coffee is strong, the pastries are large and made fresh.

Stopped by to grab a bite to eat. Was craving a sandwich and saw this place. I’ve never had«Dutch crunch» bread before. Let me tell you, I enjoyed my turkey avocado on Dutch crunch a lot! Crispy and flaky just the way I like it. Service was great and SUPER friendly. Quick place with a few tables, no outlet to charge anything if you needed. Grabbed a few desserts: Napoleon, princess cake, and hazelnut chocolate. Kinda pricey($ 5) for a slice, but at least it tasted pretty good. Napoleon, soft flakey w/custard between. Princess cake was sot chiffon cake w/mascarpone, some jelly, and custard, very light, moist, and creamy. Chocolate hazelnut had the right amount of richness, not too dense of a cake, and not too sweet. They had PLENTY of other cookies, cakes, and coffee that people continued to come in for. I would like to come back, esp to try their coffee!

The best tiramisu cake ever! It was stunning and tasted amazing. It was light, fluffy and not overly sweet. I definitely recommend coming here for cakes and I’ll be back to try the pastries and sandwiches!

My cousins ordered a delicious tiramisu cake from Bijan for my birthday. The cake was beautifully decorated and also included an orchid flower on top. In addition, the baker spelled my ethnic name correctly and included the appropriate accent marks. Whoa! Way to be culturally and linguistically inclusive. Service was great. The gentlemen behind the counter were friendly and helpful. Will be back for my next cake!

This place has a great selection for dessert. Been looking for a place that has a good fruit tart. Bijan has an awesome fruit tart. $ 3.50 Overall: Will return for the fruit tart.

I mean. If you are craving a princess cake then yes come here. Cause I really don’t know where else you can in San Jose. The first bit will be super good… then…after like 3 bits you realize that the cake has the refrigerator cake taste. Yucky after awhile and then you realize you spent $ 9.50 on two cakes that are yesterday’s cakes… BUT to give it a good point. The bread smells amazing! There’s lots and lots of yummy stuff. So I sure whatever treat you want they will have.

Bijan Bakery is predominantly a European Bakery yet a lot of the items are very ”Americanized” and by this I mean incredibly sweet. European baked items are typically not as sweet as I found these items, purely because in Europe we(they?) let the quality ingredients speak for themselves and don’t like them to be overpowered by Sugar but with the different ingredients in the US making that so isn’t very easy at all. I stopped by one Friday and picked up an array of items for my Husband and I, service was attentive and there is a huge selection to choose from. Cream Puff( ) Both the Pastry and Cream inside was very sweet. I don’t know why but they clearly added extra Sugar to the Cream, this isn’t typical of a European Puff. The Pastry was also very dense. Princess cake( ) — Very soft and light sponge, Nice Marzipan Almond flavor yet again very sweet filling. Napolean( ) — Nice soft sponge, the chocolate flavor was rich and smooth yet the bottom layer was on the chewy side. Chocolate Cup( ) Surprisingly my favorite of the 4. The Chocolate cup itself wasn’t the greatest Chocolate but the Mousse inside was delicious — Smooth, light and airy with lot’s of fresh plump Raspberries. A little pricey but a nice splurge.( ) Aside from the many Cookies, Cakes and Pastries they also have some imported Toblerone bars and a selection of Le Grand Chocolates. I would steer clear of these Chocolates though as looking in the case they were all white(called ”Chocolate bloom”) where the moisture had come into contact with the Sugar ingredients, presumably from being refrigerated.

Best place to have absolutely well made desserts. I just cant say which one is good. Some feel it is bit over priced but my love for desserts doesn’t make me think so. The Persian ice cream is top-notch. Good service and try the fruit cake for birthdays.

A mix of French, American and Iranian goods. Saw their Iranian bread and was hoping they had Sangak but they didnt. Lots of sweets though and they have an interesting mix of nuts along the wall. Intersting mix of inventory for sure
