It was neat. Definitely high points for displays that they created, especially upstairs with the separate rooms. Even though the presentation was amusing, there just wasn’t anything that I wanted to buy. It was too much like a garage sale. There was a little bit of this and a little bit of that but nothing that made me squeal and want to bring it home with me. With that said, it’s worth checking out.

This is a great shop! There are TONS of cool vintage clothes and stuff.
I shop vintage stores often for clothes and this place has a good selection, but it is slightly more expensive than some of the other vintage shops. They have so much inventory you are bound to find something cool. There is really cool stuff here and I only wish I had checked it out earlier.
The building is really cool and old as well. Don’t forget to check out the rooms upstairs. You can easily spend an afternoon exploring this place and finding some cool vintage treasure!

The first floor is full of beautiful vintage items from all eras of the 20^th century, men’s and women’s. Then upstairs is a series of curated rooms. When I was there, one room was full of vintage stereo equipment. Another was a 90s corpgoth’s dream wardrobe. I saw lovely vintage flapper dresses. I also saw many vintage toys and action figures.
I thought prices were reasonable.
The women who ran the shop were very friendly. Also, nice soundtrack, ladies!

Black Cat Collective Vintage Emporium consists of various collections by those who have a passion for all things vintage and vintage-​inspired. It’s located in an industrial pocket of San Jose near downtown, and plenty of parking is available in their back lot.
Black Cat Collective is actually more of a Compound that consists of the main 100+ house (and former brothel), a side building for
activities, and various common space in-​between. The brothel rooms upstairs offer various classic collections, while the main floor has more of a vintage department store feel. It’s a fun place to explore and with a warm, welcome, and curated community feel.

I love this place! Tons of vintage clothing, accessories, toys and trinkets to be found here. The clothing prices ranges from $-$$$ but if you shop long enough you’ll be able to find some great hidden gems for cheap. Don’t forget to check out the mini shops upstairs. Each room is a different owner with it’s own personality and flare. I heard they also offer a series of movie nights which I have yet to check out. However, they are offering a Halloween Carnival coming up at the end of this month so be sure to check that out too!
Easy to find location and they have their own parking lot so it’s a plus.

Awesome collection of clothes, shoes, accessories, games, and household items all in one place. The building is an old brothel with 15 different «collectives», so different vintage experts are bringing in a variety of items through different means. Plan to spend over an hour here, as there is so much to look at! I scored two vintage handbags for a total of $ 70.
The prices are fair and the staff is very friendly. They have a big, free parking lot nearby.

What a find! This place has a bit of everything, nicely displayed, and at reasonable prices.
I was in search of a super-​cool metal lunch box worthy of my uncle’s 80^th birthday as a container for my homemade fudge. After hitting several other vintage stores, I ended up at the Black Cat Collective. I found an über cool lunch box (it says «Everyone Deserves a Sugar Daddy!” – how appropriate is that?) and the folks who ran the place were incredibly nice and helpful.
I can’t wait to return to add to my own vintage purse collection!

Found a very nice sun dress at $ 28 bucks and a vintage bracelet at $ 35. I love this place and I love getting lost in time.

Awesome set up. I fell in love with this quirky vintage store. The themed rooms were amazing and I am definitely coming back on a monthly basis. Stop by if you are in the area. You won’t regret it. :) Seriously, go!

I’ve been seeing some their vendors out of the craft fairs recently and thought I should really stop in to see the place.
OMG. Vintage heaven and they way they organized the rooms into themes is so cute, offbeat and darling. I love it.
They have everything you could want. Clothes, record players, vinyl, rotary phones, glassware, old toys. .. should I keep going? Everything was so organized and neat. I’ve been to some shops, where it is just such a hassle to even navigate through them.
This place is gem.

They’ve got a big store (the girl told me it used to be a whore house) and good selection, stuff from every decade 40s-​80s, and I’ve seen some new vintage-​inspired stuff thrown in there too. It seems like they keep most of the best items downstairs and the upstairs is full of rented out spaces so it’s really hit-​or-​miss. They have this closet area downstairs behind the mens section with all sorts of fantastic kitchenware, glasses, bathroom scales and other knick-​knacks. I’ve gotten some really great stuff here. Large womens and mens sections. Definitely worth a stop.

I love this place so much, not only the wiiiide collection of clothes/​toys/​decorations, but also how it’s very organized. Also, they rent out rooms upstairs so people could display their collection for sale.

The theme for my «Dirty 30» party this year was 1920s/​30s stylings, so I set out to find my bday outfit. A friend of mine who is into Cosplay recommended this store on Facebook so I «liked» them and decided to pay a visit.
Walked in to Black Cat Collective and was greeted immediately with friendly smiles and offers of assistance. The guy there (don’t recall his name!) was easy-​going and didn’t crowd or rush us. When he saw that we were building quite a collection of clothing to try on, he took the initiative to offer to hang our stuff up in a dressing room which he unlocked for our private use. He came back a second time to relieve our arms of additional picks 10 – 15 mins later as well, which was appreciated.
They have the bulk of their women’s clothing separated on racks labeled by decade, not by size. That is the one difficult part of their store, but I suppose they had to choose to do it one way or the other and it just took me a little more time to sift through every single article of clothing in the 1920s/​30s rack and their «Little Black Dresses throughout the Decades» rack. The upshot of that is in my case I was looking to capture a specific decade of style, not peruse everything under the sun, so I knew exactly which sections to focus on!
After several trips to the dressing room and an expedition upstairs to the catacombs of MORE styles and cool things, I narrowed my choices down to 2 dresses and came away victorious with THE One! At this point my friend and I had been shopping for about an hour and were having a blast in this fun shop: D But before we left, I hoped to find an accessory to really set the whole look off. We wandered up to the front of the store and voila… Hats and hair accessories and jewelry, oh my!
The ostrich feather & black netting hair piece I asked to try on turned out to be perfect, and I really appreciated Victoria and the time she spent thoughtfully helping me complete my look. She gave me the impression that she genuinely was interested in me looking «the part» (and fabulous!) for my birthday.
We couldn’t find the necklace Victoria was envisioning for me in the store so she gave me her card and said she had just the piece at home, and would bring it in for me TO BORROW (with a refundable deposit) if I wanted to. She said I could buy it if I really wanted it, but that she doubted I would wear it past the party. THIS is customer service at it’s finest and most organic, my Friends!
Bottom Line: This vintage shop is the best I’ve been to in the Bay Area so far, BY far, for customer service #1 and their great collection of stylish artifacts #2. Check them out!

This place is the first place to go when you are looking for anything Vintage. Clothes, furniture, everything!
For a 60s cocktail party we were attending, found great selection of skinny ties and my wife found the perfect dress!
Pluse they are super friendly and helpful. Will be coming back here again and again!

What a wonderful place! I’ve never been to such a huge vintage store with such high quality finds. I love the themed rooms upstairs, it’s such a great space with great energy. I might have to go back next week and nab a purse I was eyeing while I was there.

I was in need of a 40s style outfit for my future sister-in-law’s bridal shower and was referred here by a friend the day before the event. My fiancé suggested we go to check it out, but I had already given up the idea of dressing up as 40s style by then, but figured I could go check it out to see. The two women working there Saturday evening were SUPER helpful and friendly and found me a cute dress, white gloves, and a blue hat with a birdcage veil in front. Everyone at the bridal shower LOVED my outfit!!! THANK YOU GALS SO MUCH! I really appreciate the time, effort, and your expertise on the time period!

This place rocks! Hands down the coolest collective Ive been to in the bay area and in Socal. The staff is always nice and helpful. Music is always on and awesome. clothing and vintage stuff is always amazing and one of a kind.
I cant stop in without buying something for me or my mom.
Its a shame they are all the way in San Jose, but it gives me a reason to get to san jose from time to time.
If you arent a vintage enthusiast you will be, just visit.

This place is so lovely! My husband and I were greeted at the door by the charming employees, and the hunting began! Sweaters, dresses, hats, purses, jewelry, shoes, jackets, home furnishings, luggage, EVERYTHING!
This collective building used to be a house of ill repute, and the rooms upstairs are now used as little vignettes almost, displaying other items for sale. They rent the rooms for others to sell their wares, as well. When I was up there this evening, a photoshoot was just ending in one of the rooms. Always something awesome going on!
They are starting a movie night, too, so like their Facebook page for updates! They also post new items in the store as well.
The prices are pretty reasonable for a vintage store. Parking is convenient just around the corner. Great location. All along San Carlos there are TONS on antique and vintage stores. But believe me when I tell you, this one stands out from the rest! The customer service is wonderful. Definitely a jewel in the Bay Area vintage scene and lifestyle!

Black Cat is as good as vintage gets in the Bay Area! You’ll always go in wanting to leave with more than you thought-​I know this because it’s happened to me way too many times!
All of the vendors are lovely and they take the time to really pick the best inventory to put out into the store.
Honestly, Black Cat is a real treat and a wonderful addition to the Bay Area vintage world. Thank you, Black Cat, for being my favorite place to shop!

So Black Cat Collective used to be Time Zone Vintage. Drama, drama, drama, etc. But the store is still here and kicking with all of it’s usual awesome vintage finds. Today was my first trip here as Black Cat and was pleased to find my favorite vendors are still here. I’m all about supporting the local economy and good people, so it makes me proud to shop small.
But enough about me, let’s talk vintage. I bought a cute men’s Pendleton argyle sweater for myself. The quality is amazing with these so I expected the price. I also got an angora sweater with dolman sleeves and cute floral print. My boyfriend ended up getting 2 pairs of shoes, vintage leather dress shoes, and a pair of wool slacks.
I wanted to get more stuff, the jewelry selection is unbelievable! But alas, I have to save it for the next trip and hope someone else doesn’t snag my picks.
