A charming little coffee shop. We stopped by during our visit to Christmas In the Park. We didn’t want to deal with the long lines for churros and hot chocolate outdoors, so we restored to this. We were warm, and enjoyed a nice clean seating area with a cute christmas tree. My kids had room to run around and be loud,(luckily, there wasn’t a crowd inside.) As parents we enjoyed our little coffee break before facing the Christmas crowds outside.

Cute little place to study. The workers are really friendly and energetic. Their coffee was a lot stronger than their other location on Almaden. I was blown away by the strong taste, but I needed a little pick-me up. Had the ice blended coffee with a Tuna Melt(which was delicious). They close at 3, so come early!

I work across the street so I come here a couple times a week in the morning. The breakfasts here are great. They are made to order and oh so good. I highly recommend the breakfast burrito. They also have a variety of sandwiches and salads which I have yet to try. Another note — During the holiday season the place is a little hidden due to the ice skating rink.

I like their breakfast burritos, their pumpkin spice latte was aiight. Not as good as the Peet’s one from Specialty’s(which also beats the Starbucks pumpkin spice latte) The bacon breakfast burrito is a little greasy, but that’s okay because it’s delicious. I’ve gotten it a couple times and would get it again. It’s only $ 4 which rulez. The people who work there are friendly, and there are a lot of tables you can sit at if you’d like.

Finally got around to visiting this new location. Didn’t get to stay long because I was worried my car would get towed(they’re setting up the skating rink and Christmas in the Park, hence lots of no parking signs). Anyway, I ordered a turkey sandwich to-go. I thought I had the option of choosing my own bread but in the midst of things, I totally forgot to mention that to the cashier… nor did she ask me. Ended up with a turkey croissant sandwich which was pretty simple. I didn’t feel it was worth the $ 6.50 or however much I paid. Despite this location offering actual food, I’d much rather go to the Alameda one. I don’t work downtown, so the other location would be ideal if I wanted to stay a bit longer and not have to worry about parking. Otherwise, the workers here are more or less the familiar faces from the Alameda location with the same feel and atmosphere.

Have to give this place a 5 star. Very great coffee in a nice serene setting. Right across from the Fairmont Hotel, near the Circle of Palms, the fountains of Fairmont(lol!), and Chavez Park. This place is so clean. I am looking at their hardwood floors and they look brand new. Maybe there place hasn’t been worn in yet. lol! Friendly staff, nice mellow music(not too loud, not too soft). Really like their brewed coffee. Only $ 2.15 for a large. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I am looking for anything that I don’t like about this place. So far, cannot find any faults… maybe that it isn’t open 24⁄7. Thanks.

The caramel almond royale coffee was fantastic. I hear they roast their own beans so that definitely lends itself to a better cup of joe. However, I was not too pleased with the almond croissant. It was a little hard which led me to believe that it wasn’t made that day. If you’re going to charge a premium for pastries then it should be fresh. Otherwise, they have nice seating both inside and outside. The place is tucked away within the Fairmont Plaza.

I prefer the location on the Alameda — it’s just much more spacious, have more parking and they’re open until 10pm most days. This one closes at 3pm M-F. The mint chocolate mocha tastes the same so if it weren’t for the hours, this place would be just as cool as the Crema on Alameda. And since both of these locations are just about equal distances from me, I prefer the one on Alameda.

When one door closes, another door opens. Crema has taken over, but you can still find your favorite sandwiches, and salads here!

I’m glad there’s a new place in San Jose. They’ve been open for about a month, but I only found out about it recently on Unilocal.Their original location is on The Alameda, SJ. It’s near the Circle of Palm area where they have the Ice Rink in the Winter. It’s between the Museum of Art & The Fairmont, Downtown SJ. You can’t see it from San Fernando, gotta walk down an alleyway if you’re on San Fernando. I got a small Caramel Almond Royale Iced $ 3.45 I think. I charged it, then lost the receipt. For special one day they had: Blat Sandwich $ 6 — bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato, mayo on toasted sourdough. Soup: baked potato cheddar w/bacon S $ 2.5; M $ 3.5; L $ 4.5 They sell breakfast stuff, coffee, sandwiches, salads, pastries(not made there). Many tables inside & outside. Hrs: M-F 7am-3pm.

I’m def a fan of Crema, it has the best vibe when you have to meet your deadlines. Food is not made by them so their pastries are alright, their drinks are pretty strong. Most of all the environment is great for some alone time. Down Side, not many available outlets to charge, and there doesn’t seem to be any AC, and gets butt hott in here!!! So come fully charged, or hustle to sit next to the plugs.

I was extremely excited to hear Crema opened a store across from Cesar Chavez park in the circle of palm trees! its a soft opening right now so the hours are M-F 7am-3pm. What I love about this place is the sandwiches!!! I’ve had the pleasure of trying the veggie burger & california. simply mouth watering and fresh! Seating is plenty with small tables indoors and bigger tables outdoors. and you MUST try the italian sodas here! Whenever I’m holding one, I always get asked where I got it! It looks that refreshing!!! did I mention FREE wifi w/any purchase? Also, the staff is friendly and laid back! Shout out to the kitchen staff! They make my tummy happy ^_^

This place is closed! I read the reviews and wanted to try it given I am staying at the Fairmont San Jose. Tried to find it yesterday and gave up, then went back again today and couldn’t locate it. I think they are closed permanently according to Google Maps.

Best addition DTSJ! This is actually the second location Crema has opened. Most of you may know of the other location at the Alameda. This location is newly renovated with plenty of sweet tables outside to chill and have lunch. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7 – 3. This location caters to all the business’s DT. If you are looking for a great place to pick up a bite to eat or get your caffeine fix… this is IT. P. S. The sandwiches and italian sodas are awesome! Premium syrup used :) Monet not Torani!!! Definitely check it out yourself!

Cute little café right next to the San Jose museum. Their drinks were average in taste and a tad too hot on the temperature side. Not a bad place to go to after getting your museum fix.

I came here after going to the Body Worlds exhibit at the Tech Museum across the street. I heard about this place from my mother who saw it once and wanted to try it. Since i came during the time of the huge ice skating rink was out in the open plaza, it was somewhat hard to find since it was blocked. My first impression was that it was a small and cozy place. Not too big, but not small enough that you’d feel cramped or claustrophobic. The waitress was really friendly and got everything we asked for in a few seconds. Jalapeño beef specialty sandwich was amazing. The bread was soft on the inside but a little crunchy crust being toasted. The jalepenos added a kick but not as strong to overpower any other tastes. It was delicious to the point that i scarfed it down in 3 minutes or so while trying to contain myself. Minus one star for having to wait quite a while for the food, but i’d definitely recommend you give this place a try.

I work in the Knight Ridder Building and this place is good for a quick bite when Im in a hurry or need to bring food back to the office. The sandwichs are good and there are daily food specials that the owner makes herself. Her being Korean, you can often find a lot of good Korean dishes(Score) . The coffee is pretty good since its Peets. But usually end up gettting a rockstar because thats how I roll. haha

I work in the adjacent Knight Ridder building and was searching for lunch one day when my coworker told me to try Café 1850. I LOVE café 1850!!! My coworkers complain that its a tad over expensive here but seriously. where can you find a sundried tomato & pesto eggplant panini for $ 6.50 in downtown SJ?! Delicious! I also tried the weekly special«Mother Earth» sandwich which is a Turkey avocado with sprouts, mayo & cheese on a fresh Croissant. Mmmm. So good. ALSO they sell Peet’s Coffee and if you follow my reviews I rave about how Peet’s Coffee is years beyond Starbucks in quality and taste. To add on to the wow-ness factor of Café 1850, The owner Judy is so friendly and after my first visit she knew me by name. It is such a «pick-me-upper» to see a friendly face on my lunch break. She always takes good care of her customers!!! To sum it up the food is amazing here. Its creative, fresh,(in my opinion) cheap and healthy. I’m going to be really upset when I get transfered back to my Santa Clara branch. Café 1850, you need to open a Santa Clara location!!!

The owner, Judy, and her staff are super friendly. She knows 80% of the customer’s that come in by name. Pretty much everyone in the Knight-Ridder building comes down here for coffee, breakfast and lunch. Peets coffee is great and the breakfast burritos are awesome. I recommend the sausage. Sandwiches are good and quick. Judy has specials that change every day. Come and chill

Based on the review pointing out the breakfast burritos, I wanna try to come here one time before 11am so I can try ‘em! Anyhow, this review is about lunch time. So far I’ve been here twice. Last week I ordered a grilled chicken salad, extra chicken. Yumm. Big salad and it was served in a big bowl which made it very easy to eat. Today, I had an «1850BLT.» Also yumm. I ordered it w/extra meat and it was piled on just how I like it. The bread is also toasted, and they add an extra slice in between all the fixings. I’m so glad I found this place, as the closest alternative to me are some overpriced joints, such as Specialty’s. If you read my other reviews, you’ll see that I really don’t like that place. It also seems to be a family run business, which is an extra plus in my book. I always love supporting small businesses. I too notice the workers calling customers by name. Hopefully I get the same treatment soon!
