We recently signed up for the Citizen Space photo class. We showed up on time for the class, but the instructor never showed. There were about 10 of us waiting out in the hallway hoping for the instructor to show up. Some of us drove in from places more than 2 hours away from San Jose. Most of us called their San Jose office as well as their San Francisco office. There was no answer at either number. We also e-mailed them without any response. After about an hour, the whole class decided to leave as it was only a 3 hour class and we assumed it was cancelled since no instructor showed it. This place has very bad business practices because they cancel without notification to customers. It’s a waste of time trying to get to class, purchasing and scheduling a class, getting a refund, and a waste of money parking in downtown San Jose. I could have save a lot of time an money if I didn’t do business with Citizen Space. Our deal sounded really good at first because we made our purchase through LivingSocial… but obviously that wasn’t the case.

I enrolled for your 3 Hour Photography class(10a-1p) with your San Jose Facility on Saturday, September 22. It’s extremely disrespectful to make 10 students wait over 45 minutes+(some came outside of San Jose) for an instructor that never showed and/or confirm with anyone that the class was cancelled/rescheduled. Everyone even attempted to call all the phone numbers provided, but no direct success. I would NOT recommend buying anything from your facility again through Living Social and would not recommend anyone to you. I will demand a FULL refund from Living Social. You lost my trust in being a value customer. The only good thing that came out of this experience was meeting and talking to some cool, funny people that had the same interest in photography. :) Looks like from a previous review, it’s not the first time this has happened.

I took a DSLR photography class yesterday at Citizen Space, purchased through Google Offers. The teacher was local photographer Michael Moya. My goal was to learn to use the manual mode on my DSLR and go beyond snapshot quality, and the class helped me achieve that goal. I used to use manual mode in film cameras back in the 70s but had become reliant on the program settings and sort of forgot what I knew. This class, though aimed at novices(f-stops and ISOs), gave good refresher info and helped me delve deeper into the settings to effectively use manual mode and get the quality of pictures I was looking for. My only quibble was that the instructor promised to get us outside to shoot but we ended up spending the whole 3 hours in the classroom learning basic terminology. Even so we got to shoot indoors under controlled settings and I found it really helpful. I had originally been scheduled for a class in March and canceled at the last minute. Citizen Space was cool about rescheduling me and didn’t charge a fee. I would take another class at Citizen Space.

As a startup, I don’t have the cash to lay out for a large office, or a long-term lease, but we needed a place for the team to meet regularly and get things done. We tried several co-working spaces, and settled on the San Jose Citizen Space to get us off the ground. It’s got a great feel, and is near about 482,000 restaurants for lunch choices. We met cool people here, and get a lot done. Free wifi, office supplies, snacks and a stocked bar. Nicely done, Toby. If you’re going to stay long term, here’s the double-secret parking tip: If you sign up for the city parking lot on Basset, it’s $ 30/month, and a nice ½ mile walk from the office right down Market street.
