I would give him negative stars if i can. I used to go here since i was a little kid, now i’m in my early 30s. It’s happened about 10 – 20 years ago, but I feel like everyone should know the service I received when I was a kid up to my late teens. I used to go see him EVERY6 months b/c we’ve always had insurance. Every time I go, he would give me a clean bill of health for my teeth. Of course, as a kid, i was super ecstatic leaving with no cavities. No cavities mean no needles and no drilling. Lets flash forward 5 – 6 years in my late teens, I started getting this shooting pain from my teeth, and we all know how that feels. My parents have actually moved on to another dentist, which i refused to go b/c I loved going to Dr. Chan. However, my mom convinced me to see her dentist, and her dentist was nice to fit me in b/c it was an emergency. I was in sooooo much pain, it was indescribable. She examined my teeth and took some x-rays and told me I needed 2 root canals and had 5 – 6 cavities on my teeth, which i needed a few visits to fix. I know what you guys are all thinking, that this new dentist probably just wants money, which is not true because i felt the pain from my rotting teeth. Also, I know Dr. Chan has been screwing me over b/c I vividly remember sitting in his chair and his dental assistant came by with the x-rays. She took one look and said, «looks like you have a cavity». I SPECIFICALLY asked Dr. Chan at the end of the cleaning if i have to come back for my cavity, He said, no, and that i didn’t have any cavities. Looking back, that should’ve been a warning sign that I should’ve moved on to a different dentist, but of course i didn’t think much of it back then. Who will take a dental assistant’s word over the dentist? Currently, I have a ton of silver fillings in my teeth, which btw is embarassing. I went to the other dentist for 5 – 6 more years and then moved on to another dentist(who is my brother-in-law). I haven’t had a cavity since that emergency visit, which is probably b/c i have so much many fillings already. I’m not here to promote any other dentists, but i just want the truth to be told about my experience here. People told me to sue him but it’s too late, not like i can grow a 3rd set of teeth. What’s done is done. So BEWARE!

Darwin Chan is an awesome dentist! I’ve been going here since I was a little kid and he has always made the scary dentist experience much more enjoyable. I actually like coming in to get my teeth cleaned. Darwin has been in the business for years, he is very experienced and easy to talk to. Don’t hesitate to go see Darwin!

Dr. Chan is our family dentist and has been since I was five. Surprisingly, he looks exactly the same, but with a few more gray hairs. Scheduling an appointment is always painless. He’s only in the SJ office Wednesdays/Saturdays and I believe he’s in SF the other days. And he’ll usually work with your insurance to make sure you don’t have to pay any copays or anything, too! Thumbs up.
