I really enjoy the fine Vietnam dishes here! The only thing I have a problem with is, the waiter/s always served me my grass with their fingers all around the mouth part of the glass! I know they served it with a straw, but its the whole idea of being Professional. The sad part about this, I love eating here and don’t want to make a big deal.

The closest phở place I go very often even it’s not perfect. They don’t serve basail with phở. You have to ask for it. That’s a non authentic sign? I don’t know. I ask for it every time, so it doesn’t matter. The broken rice plate is great! The thing I really don’t like about this place is they aggressively serve ice water no matter you ask for it or not. The most I had to reject the ice water 3 times. I don’t drink iced drink and don’t want to waste the water. They just carry a tray of water glasses and put them on any table that doesn’t have one already. They obviously don’t care California is in serious drought. Now I literally push their hands away when they try to snuck a glass of water on my table.

Been here 3 times now. Get seated right away. They rush you a bit, but whatever. Had good luck until this last weekend when I ordered a specific type of spring roll and egg roll and they brought me out 2 completely different spring rolls(2 orders of the same one) that I didn’t end up enjoying. Not sure where the miscommunication was since i said the numbers clearly. But the phở is good and it’s close to my work for a quick lunch.

Wanted phở after going to the mall. I didn’t think the phở here was very special. I thought it was actually pretty bland and not very tasty. Their imperial rolls were better than the phở though. Pro: You do get a really big bowl of noodles for the price. Skip the water here because their water is gross tasting unfiltered SJ tap water.

Good all around Vietnamese place. Menu is super long so not everything is good. If you’re really hungry, #26 with pork chop and fried egg is the way to go! It’s like the Hungryman dish packed with stuff.

The food is good and I usually pick up Togo from here but today we decided to dine in. My girlfriend got veg phở but we found part of shrimp in the phở. I asked her to come to this place with me so I got was pretty bumped to see that. And then to top off our bad experience they used a cleaning agent with a very strong odor of Clorox to clean the table next to us. It was so much that gave both of us a headache. I don’t think I would be back at least not to dine in or recommend it to other friends.

I’ve been coming here for what feels like a million years, may as well review it. How you feel about this place probably depends heavily on what you order. This place is not known for having particularly good phở, hence the docking a star. I really like their broken rice plates. They fry some garlic and onion and put it aside the rice which gives it good flavor. The BBQ chicken is good but it can come out dry at times. The shaking beef is consistent though the portion isn’t as large as most of their offerings. Also the coffee is ridiculously strong. Definitely my favorite Viet coffee in the San Jose area, worth dropping by for this alone. Overall it’s not perfect but if you’re in the mood for non-phở Vietnamese food it’s a good choice, and you won’t have to wait a year on the weekend like at Phở Wagon down the road.

Just happened to stumble upon this. A full parking lot was all I needed to give it a try! Ordered beef stew with wide rice noodle soup and a grilled park and spring roll over vermicelli. First, the soup was not too salty. Just the right amount of flavor. Hearty and rich without overdoing it. Beef stew tender and not fatty. Came with the standard complement of sprouts and jalapeños. Soup topped with much sweet basil leaves and tender sweet carved carrots. Vermicelli was standard fare. Pork grilled nicely and not dry. Spring roll crispy. The traditional fish sauce was not overly sweet, as most are. Green onions, peanuts, sprouts. People kept coming and going. Quite a bit of take-out traffic. Will come again.

Had a very enjoyable chicken fried rice. This is the gf’s favourite phở place, so there’s that too. They seem a little confused about their identity, serving Vietnamese, Thai, and Mexican foods all in one.

Have come back several times recently and haven’t left too impressed lately. The rice seems to have morphed into just regular steamed rice, which I’ve had more than enough of in my life. Dropping them a star, because of that and the fact that on my last visit the bottom of the table was soaking wet and dripping small drips of filthiness. Menu has a ton of options and different combinations for the rice plates is a positive. Also, the food is usually served in a quick fashion here. Prices are reasonable as well.

Thank-you for all the reviews on Unilocal about this restaurant, I ordered the #25, the barbeque pork with broken rice… yummy in my tummy. Generous portion size, the pork was so tender and seasoned with just enough heat. The spring rolls were just as described, must have appetizer, even if your just having phở, very happy with service and priced right, thank-you will come again.

Very disappointing, used to come here on Sunday. The portion has been decreased dramatically, the service is bad for the last two times of visit. Asked for the soup which come with the rice, give me two bowls of water with onion and oil on top. Not deserve for my third try…

I love how conveniently close this restaurant is to work. I’ve dined in and had take out from here, no complaints from this gal so far. My friend gave me a choice whether I wanted Taco Bell or Vietnamese food for dinner. Uh… no competition there. I got #15 com tam thit nuong(broken rice with BBQ pork slices) and he ordered lemongrass chicken over rice. Both were SOGOOD. He started chowing down my food, thinking it was his. He was wondering why his didn’t taste like chicken LOL. He agreed that #15 was perfectly marinated in amazing BBQ. I thought the lemongrass chicken was going to be exxxtra spicy but totally doable for me. I’ve had their phở and vermicelli too. Quick service when you dine in. Pick up time for our food wasn’t too long either. Prices are super cheap. Oh and I’ve had their thai tea with boba. I remember the boba being a little too hard but ehh, the thai tea was yumz!

WARNING! Cockroach infested restaurant! I used to come here all the time because of the location and large variety of Vietnamese dishes. I stopped coming here for two reasons: 1. Cockroaches 2. Purposefully giving me the wrong order These two incidents happened at the same time. I had ordered Banh Cuon Nhan Thit which is ground pork wrapped in a thin rice sheet topped with steamed pork, fresh herbs, and vinegar’d veggies. I’ve ordered this plenty of times so I know exactly what goes in it. They served me the dish and there was no ground pork in it whatsoever. I told them they gave me the wrong order and after the waiter checked on it, he told me they ran out of the ground pork so this is what they have. Uhh no. If you run out of an essential ingredient for a dish, you should probably let the person ordering it know and NOT when you’ve already made the damn thing. I ended up getting it replaced with a mediocre Bun Bo Hue. As we were paying for the check a cockroach crawled across the counter. Luckily it wasn’t in my food like other patrons have noted on here. Eff that. Goodbye forever, Com Tham Thanh!

I came here on Monday after some serious rain early in the morning… perfect weather for phở. It was about 12:30pm and things were starting to slow down from the lunch rush. I waited in line to be seated. The workers are quick and efficient to get everything cleared to seat new customers. I ordered a large Phở Tai(rare steak phở). My glass of water and bowl of soup came soon after I ordered. The broth was piping hot(which was exactly what I needed), the beef was rare and tender(cooking perfectly in the hot broth), and it came with a side of lime, bean sprouts, jalapeño, cilantro… but I was seriously missing the basil!!! WHEREWASTHEBASIL?!? After I was handed my soup and water, it was about impossible to flag anyone down for any service. My water was never refilled. I also didn’t have a little side dish for dipping my beef in hoisin and sriracha sauces! I ate my bowl of soup, paid up front, and left feeling incomplete. The portion was good and I paid a total of $ 9(which is cheaper than what I find at other phở places in the area)…however, the lack of service and not being able to fully enjoy my phở the way I like to enjoy it was a complete turn off to me. It’s conveniently located down the street(walking distance) from Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. There is a little parking lot to the side of the restaurant. My coworkers are fans… but this place is a «miss» for me.

WARNING!!! DONOTEATHERE!!! My boyfriend and I usually comes here after work and before class for a quick dinner. Prolly been here about 5x. Food and price is descent. Usually go here since it’s very near SJCC! But after today, I prolly will NEVEREVER go back here again. My boyfriend ordered a rice plate and I ordered a wonton soup w/rice noodle. About ¼ to my food, I found a tiny cockroach in my soup!!! NASTYYYY!!! There is nothing sickening than seeing that in my food! I almost ate it too, good thing I saw it!!! I complained to our waiter and he took my bowl, and said we will give you a new one, EWWWWW! No thank you! The guy in cashier kept apologizing, and stated«It’s probably because they just had their place sprayed for bugs!» WTH!!! DISGUSTING!!! I hope I don’t get sick after today, or else it is because this place!!! So again I warn you! Cockroach in your soup!!!

I was in the area looking for a quick bite to eat. I’m always in the mood for a good spring roll so I came here! They have SO many different types of egg rolls and spring rolls. Alarmist 10 different types so make sure you read carefully and get the one you want! I ordered the #1. They give you three rolls with most of their appetizer dishes. It cost about $ 5.25 for the three spring rolls. I ordered them to-go and they packed them nicely in a container so they don’t get ruined on the ride home. The rolls were so fresh and tasty. The sauce was mixed perfectly with not too much of a peanut flavor as some places have. These were some of the best rolls I’ve tried and for a decent price. I will definitely be back to try their phở!!!

Cleanliness 1⁄5 Service 2⁄5 Food 3⁄5 I’ve tried this place a few times and thought the food was ok. I ordered the chicken porridge the first time I was there, but got fish instead. It wasn’t a big deal, I still had it. It was ok, nothing too special to say about it. I’ve also ordered beef phở. It was again ok, nothing too different or unique. The reason why I gave it a one star, and why I’m not going back is because I was having lunch there one afternoon and found a cockroach crawling up the side of the wall. If there was a cockroach crawling out in the open, I’m not sure what the kitchen looks like or what else I would find…

Was craving com tam and found this place which was close to my work. This place is poppin especially during lunch hour. I usually just call ahead and order then my orders ready for pick up by the time I get there. Staff is friendly and the restaurant looks clean/sanitary. Haven’t dined in before but seems like a nice typical viet restaurant. So far I’ve gotten the bbq chicken #21 and korean bbq short ribs #17 com tams aka broken rice plates. Portions are pretty big, and for me one order means two meals. Meat is nicely seasoned and cooked to a good tenderness… not too gamey/overcooked and definitely not raw/undercooked. A good amount of moist rice and fresh pickled salad on the side. The slighlty spicy fish sauce compliments everything well. Haven’t tried the steamed pork cake yet that comes with some of the other com tams with more meats, but fellow Unilocalers have been raving about it so guess that’s where my next step will be. Also haven’t tried there phở because well… they specialize in com tam… but guess I’ll give that a try in the future once I have my fill of com tam. Prices range from $ 8.75−13÷14 so pretty good bang for your buck!

«The Phở Place» is seriously delicious! My GF is a huge fan and ever since I moved down to SJ we try new places to eat around town, but this Phở spot is great! I usually get the Shrimp Phở and she gets the Meatball Phở. Very delicious and they do not skimp on the Shrimp at all!!! They have a few different sauces on the table and I love this one in the bottle that is kind of sweet, mixed with sriracha and there is also this house sauce in a little serving dish that is amazing. The beef broth is full of flavor and delicious till the last spoonful. Lots of onions and noodles, even in the medium/regular size.(I usually do the Large tho) I highly recommend their Mango Smoothie. It is made from 2 – 3 mangoes and works so well with their Phở dishes. Cannot wait to come back!
