I tired this place out a few months ago. Nothing special. Food was not good. You can get better food across at El Jardin.

Had a good experience with my coworkers at Consuelo. If you’ve never been to the area, you’ll quickly figure out that there’s really no bad food option on Santana Row. Granted, none of them are inexpensive either. The food was pretty good. I’ve had better Mexican and I’ve had much, much worse. I got the Tacos de Asada, which was perfectly filling. The ambiance is fun too. We sat outside and the Tequila Bar just outside had some good love music going on. I think I’d rate this place a strong 3, but I give Consuelo a 4 for it’s great customer service. A coworker spilled his Modelo half way in, all over his lap. The staff quickly responded with more cloth napkins to clean up everything and a new beer for the guy. Super nice and our waitress was able to provide her favorite dishes.

Absolutely the worst service I have ever received. We were waiting for about five minutes before even being acknowledged by a host or employee. After finally being acknowledged, it took about five minutes to be greeted by our waitress and she didn’t offer for us to start with anything to drink. She simply asked if we were ready to order, and since we weren’t, she left. We had to call her back to our table to ask for some water to begin with. She came back out about ten minutes later and took our order. No one checked on us for about 25 minutes, until we finally received our food. The food was awful. We asked for the filet mignon to be medium rare and it was given to us extremely well done. I ordered a side dish that was completely forgotten about and not once did anyone ask if we needed anything or if our food was okay. Well… waiting for the check took another 15 minutes and no one came to get the check with the form of payment, so I had to take it inside myself. Worst customer service, ever. Don’t waste your time or money.

The duck special was amazing, loved the guac. The wait was a bit long. I love the Mexican feel of the food and the environment. They have tv’s so that you may watch the latest sports.

Our Margaritas were $ 12 or $ 14 dollars. Guacamole cost $ 12. The drinks were ok, not great. Our prawns tacos were $ 19(the shrimp were tiny… not prawns). The guacamole and prawn(shrimp) was way over priced. You’re paying for the location. This was my first and last time here. There are so many other Mexican restaurants in the area that are so much better in many ways If you want good Mexican food go outside of Santana Row.

The food was good. The drinks were really good. The service was great. However, above average prices for Mexican food. I’ll probably return but need to save some money first. Lol

We went for Happy Hour on Wednesday. I regret it. The service very good. The Happy Hour prices are very good too. We ordered $ 3.00 carnitas soft tacos, an $ 8.00 chicken mole enchilada, $ 6.00 guacamole and chips and two $ 5.00 beers. The food was bland but plentiful. We were full but disappointment. So if you have low expectations and are on a budget this place might not bother you. We felt that it the place was dirty and dated. My husband’s arm stuck to the table! The entire place needs an update. It is dark and dingy and even the bathrooms are gross. So weird for Santana Row. Live and learn.

I am not really a fan of this place at all. Now, even less having my last visit. I bought a GROUPON along with 3 of my friends, showing up there and they telling me it is only one valid per table/per visit. Of course the manager that day(Thursday, 5÷12÷16) did not care about our business, she prefer to let us go to Campbell to Aquis and we did and enjoy it much more, as I love swirls. Just don’t get the GROUPON. Oh and by the way the drinks are very much water down. and of course $$$

Guac is fantastic. Ordered the carnitas, they were ok. Also had some of the shrimp tacos… not great, not awful. I have food poisoning today. Maybe not directly related, but I’m guessing there’s a strong correlation between the pork I ate yesterday and the pain I’m feeling today. Way, way Over priced. I won’t be back.

Messed up our Mother’s Day! We made reservations through Open Table weeks beforehand. Someone from the restaurant called us and said they weren’t actually taking reservations for Mother’s Day. So we showed up on Mother’s Day anyway, thinking we would just wait for a table like everyone else.(We actually like their food.) The hostess asked us if we had a reservation. What!!! I told her what I mentioned above. Why would someone call me and say they weren’t taking reservations, when they were? The hostess said there were 3 managers who weren’t in agreement about the reservations for that date, and we weren’t the first people to come in with the issue. They couldn’t seat us, so we left. My point? Consuelo’s management needs to get its act together. This was avoidable. Next time, don’t call would-be patrons and cancel them if you’re not all in agreement.

I was not at all impressed by this place. In fact, it was extremely underwhelming. I was disappointed to see that they didn’t have nachos or burritos. We ordered both the chicken and steak quesadillas and I would have honestly preferred to be eating a Taco Bell quesadilla. Of the two, I preferred the chicken, however both of my friends preferred the steak(though neither of them really tasted like much). My friend ordered the sangria which tasted like juice — supposedly there was vodka in it but I honestly don’t think there was an ounce of vodka to be found in that drink. The service was extremely slow and the restaurant wasn’t even all that busy. It took my friend’s drink so long to come out, we could have sworn they were picking the apples off the tree for the sangria. You’re probably better off going to the tequila bar that’s right next to Consuelo’s.

Delicious guac. They make it at your table which is the best kind to have. There’s so much that splitting with four people is more than enough. The mango salsa brought out with the chips is amazing. It took 35 minutes for our lunch entrée to be brought out from the time of ordering and we had to ask for it 3 times. It ended up being pretty bland. Margs are pretty strong. I believe they have some connection with El Jardin which is directly next to it.

Had the filet dinner this past week. It was delicious. Great cook on the steak; good potatoes and spinach. Would go back for the steak!

Well I can honestly say the food here was good. I had the eggs Benedict Mexican style served on a piece of toast with black bean purée on it. They could have done a better job on presentation I mean sliced romaine lettuce as a garnish just doesn’t cut it. But the eggs were cooked perfect, the flavor a on al the sauces were really really good. So it’s rare for me to want to come back to a restaurant, even if I write a good review, but I want to come back here, I enjoyed it that much so props. One criticism I have though is that if you’re going to serve chips you have to serve it with a dipping salsa, not sauces. Although they were all good they were all sauces and not salsas.

Looking for serviceless, bland Mexican? You’re here brother. Noon found an empty restaurant. What do they know I don’t know? Well my friends, you’re about to find out. While my review will be quick and easy, our visit to Consuelo was not. There was a silver lining that will bring me back. At least once. After waiting longer than we should, a flustered but kind team member comes by to take water orders. We’ll add a margarita each too. Water arrived but no cocktails when she returned to take our order. There’s on one here. What’s the hold up? A couple of soups, some lunch plates and a ceviche printed out in the kitchen. Then we waited. Waters empty by the time margaritas arrived with no one offering to refill them. I think you get the point about the service so I’ll move on. How was the food? Well, the soups were cold. They were not luke warm. They were cold. Sent them back for a reheat which worked. Not sure how the expeditor allowed these off the line. The rest of the food was ok. Not great but not bad. Nothing memorable to write about. In the end, the service was slow and our server forgot to ring some drinks. I’m not sure if this was a comp for the service and soup but she did mention they were not on there. If this was a comp, that was a nice gesture and did add a star to the review but more importantly swung my option of «not coming back» to «I’ll try them again». Thanks for trying Consuelo. We’ll see if this visit is the norm or the exception.

Fancier place for Mexican food. We went here for lunch on a Friday and service was fine. Food was okay, and didn’t have as much punch as I expected. Complimentary tortilla chips and a trio of salsa. Chips didn’t taste fresh to me. We also had the freshly made guacamole which was supposed to be «spicy» but it wasn’t. I had the chimichanga de salmon and it was not what I expected. Salmon was inside a puff pastry wrap and had a side of mashed potatoes with corn and green beans. It was pricey for $ 20.

«Speaking of Consuelo…»(Bridesmaids – the movie – look it up) I can’t say anything bad about it. I haven’t been here for a full-on meal, just small bites and drinks, but so far, so good. Except the one time I sat outside, a pigeon three stories up absolutely UNLOADED on me. It was like it was holding all its crap in for a week just to completely obliterate an innocent diner. It was nothing short of a miracle that all the crap landed on my napkin and seat cushion and not my lap. The server was pretty apologetic about it, but it wasn’t her fault at all that a bird crapped on me. One seat cushion swap later and I was back to enjoying my margarita. That aside, their ceviche is bomb. The serving size it pretty hefty, definitely a good sized starter for two people. Their margaritas are fine; they aren’t that strong so you needn’t worry about drunk purchases at one of the many shops nearby. The service can be a bit slow but generally I’m in no rush when I eat here – unless Lululemon is closing. That’s a different story.

Not a bad little spot. Was beautiful outside and certainly the patio was calling to us. Our tableside guac was pretty good but needed a bit more spice. The nachos were large enough for the four of us to share and had quite a bit of toppings included. The chicken taco wasn’t terrible but nothing to write home about. Overall average food I’d say. My mint and pineapple mojito had WAY too much mint. The whole glass was covered in green and hid any taste of pineapple. For the prices… not sure if I would really come back any time soon.

What an unfortunate disappointment. We read the reviews prior to coming here, but thought we would come by anyway. First, we approached the hostess for a seat, and she was not friendly at all. She sat is fine outside, but she definitely lacked typical hostess rapport that I was used to at «good service» restaurants. They gave us complimentary chips and three types of salsa which was nice. All three of the salsas were pretty spicy, be warned! For an entrée, my boyfriend and I shared the Chimichanga(filled with salmon) and it was $ 20. It also came with some form of mashed potatoes with corn. I want to say the mashed potatoes is what saved the dish. The Chimichanga was quite small, majorly breaded and fried, and definitely not worth $ 20. Aside from the rude hostess, the waitress and server were friendly and attentive to our needs. Would I come back here again? Most likely not. Unfortunate, because I love Mexican food and I am always at Santana Row!

Always on the fence about this place. I want to love it. I had my first date with my now fiancé here. Since then I’ve been several times, but this is my first review. The service is great! If you’re looking for something nice and great service on the Row, this is place is it. It also can accommodate larger groups. The FOOD: Fresh Guacamole! This appetizer is my favorite. Fresh avocado mixed with its toppings before your eyes. It comes with chips or you can ask for fresh corn tortillas. I really like their tortillas. Less greasiness! I’ve had the veggie tacos twice now. The first time, they were great! I think they had mushrooms perfectly seasoned. This last time not so much. For $ 18 you get three tortillas(yes they are good, but they are all part of the appetizer) on each tortilla there was two spoonfuls of veggies. So sad looking. =(I had asked for the salad instead of rice. The salad was drenched in dressing. Again, I need to remember to ask for the dressing on the side. I feel like some of your dishes have great presentation an great value, why not extent that to the veggie tacos? My fiancé got the carnitas plate. Generous portion of meat, rice, beans and tortillas all for $ 20. I just got get the math. Maybe it would be weird to have a much less expensive dinner item. Don’t know. Like I said, I really want to love this place.
