El Grullense

Funny story everyone, my friend and I went to this El Grullense because she liked it, I had never been there before. unfortunately I ordered this slop called boracho
. RA. CHO. AARG IS What it sounded like as I was vomiting a few hours after I got home. Felt like food poisoning, never again will I eat.there.

Great food but horrible service. No people skills at all, slamming cups down, getting orders wrong, no personality or even checking on the customers. I would twice coming here even if the food is good.

The only thing I order here is the carnitas burrito and damn it’s good. Been going here for years and never any issues.

My husbands favorite place for me to pick up burritos in east San Jose. The only thing is it’s cash only but the burritos are ways good. I always order a chicken super burrito and eat half and save the other half for later cause they are big and my husband order carne asada regular and they are always good! Best burrito spot on the east side.

This place has some NASTY Carne Asada taco I wouldn’t mind paying 2.10 per taco if they was good but no flavor or nothing.

DON’T waste your money here!!!
Ok so my brothers and I we went for a lunch and I order a fajitas de Camaron when the food come out I notes that the shrimp wasn’t clean right so I return the dish and I order a carne asada instead,
And what a surprise when I get the bill they still charge me for tha plate that I didn’t eat so I ask why they charge me for something that I didn’t like it and manager said that wasn’t ther mistake I didn’t want to argue with some with no Brain at all so I pay the bill and left.

Wow. this place has really gone down hill over the years. The last 4 times I’ve been there I’ve ordered the same thing. a super carnitas burrito. And everytime there has been piece of bone or a huge wad of fat in my burrito, which is really gross to bite into mid-​burrito! They have also forgot to put the carne in my quesadillas, twice. There is also a lady who works the register that has a bad attitude, and acts like your bothering her. On the upside, I will say their chile/​salsa is delicious, and overall flavor is good. It’s a give & take with this place, unfortunately. You never know what you will get.

The quality of food and customer service have gradually gone downhill for a while. But after today, I will no longer return to this establishment. Ordered menudo to go. Once I opened the container when I got home, I was again disappointed. The soup was all tripe and maybe a few stragglers of hominy on the bottom. It smelled fairly strong of tripe and nothing else, off putting. But I’m pretty the ratio of tripe to hominy should be close to eachother. Good bye El GROSS-​ense!

I’ve honestly been coming here for quite a few years, even when we moved away. The food, however, was not very good last night. In the past everything was very fresh and tasty. It actually seemed like we got leftovers from the week. The chips were a mix of store-​bought and stale or burnt homemade chips. The bottom of my sope was so hard that I had to use a lot of pressure with cutting through. Enchilada sauce was so bland. I wish I had stayed home and cooked for our group of 6 but had a long week and wanted to enjoy some good mexican food. Major fail. Now I know why I prefer to stay home and prepare my own meals. What a waste of money. I guess I won’t be returning.

My husband and I went for a quick dinner last night — big mistake. We both ordered the carne asada plate, there was plenty of food on the plate but the steak had no flavor, it tasted like they boiled it then threw it on the grill to brown it a little. We smothered it with salsa for a little flavor. The rice was mushy and didn’t taste like anything, I think they forgot to add tomato sauce because it was a pale peach color. The waitress was grumpy, no smile on her face and after she brought our food she never came to check how everything was. They take cash only but «luckily» they have an ATM machine conveniently placed in the front that charges $ 2.50 to withdraw cash. We will definitely not be back.

Excellent place. Tacos were good. Burritos were large and delicious. Service was excellent. I had the milanesa torta and it was delicious. I consumed it in its entirety.
I’d come back.

One of the redeeming things about this place is that it’s open a little later than other Mexican restaurants in the area. It’s in kind of a sketchy location but hey, what other locations aren’t. There was no one at the cashier’s desk when I came in and it took a while to get my order going through. Didn’t seem like many people were working at the time either. I came in with no expectations and ordered carne asada fries. It literally took more than half and hour for my order to come out when I was one of the only people in the restaurant which was kind of disappointing. When I opened up the to-​go box at home the fries were half cooked, the «guacamole» was half an avocado sliced in large pieces, the cheese was merely sprinkled, and the salsa was lacking. Definitely not something I expected for a slightly higher price for carne asada fries than other locations nearby. I wouldn’t come back here again for the carne asada fries but I’ll try El Grullense another time for everything else they have.

First of all, the service is TERRIBLE! They had us seat ourselves, which is no big deal but once we were sitting they brought us the menu and practically ignored us the rest of the time and that’s a big issue in my book! The server was rude, she had an «I’m better then to be working here» attitude which made me ask how long she’d been working there for because her customer service is terrible…(we had our food by that point LOL) and then I requested another server because I refused to deal with her.
Second, the food was not tasteful, it was far too greasy for my liking. My mom had shrimp and it was way too dry, tasted and smelled like it had gone bad so we told the server and she said it was «fresh»…we did not eat and decided to leave, especially after we heard them talking smack in the back (we were sitting in the first table… really really close to the counter… DID THEY think we couldn’t hear them?!?)
WORST experience ever! I will NEVER be back again.

i like that this place is open late night, but that’s really about it. The customer service was eh, alright, I guess. We were seated promptly, although i think it was because we seated ourselves. The waitress brought the menu’s and took our drink order quick though, so i give here that. I found it a bit rude when my friend was ordering in Spanish, she would respond in English. Maybe she was just practicing, but its still a bit rude. The food was not that great either. I got a Asada super burrito, blah! It was reasonably priced though. In the end, I was in good company, so I enjoyed my time there. If you visit, bring awesome friends to distract you from the lame food!

The tacos here are the best tacos I’ve ever tasted (beef tacos). It is a little pricey and the taco is kinda small, but I think it’s kinda worth although I wish it was a bit bigger.
Other than the price issue and size, the tacos are well made.

I’m going to keep this review short and sweet! I went here one day because I was craving for some Mexican burrito. I was at the Laundrymat across from it getting some refilled water so I decided to give this restaurant a chance. Big mistake! I checked their Menus and all of the things they are serving is OVERPRICED! The Burrito that I got was smaller than the usual $ 5 burritos. The burrito ended up being $ 8.75. The waiter was so stingy with the hot sauce and when I asked for an extra sauce, she rolled her eyes and gave me an attitude. The burrito was hard like the meat was cooked hours ago and it was mostly just filled with beans & rice. This place is a joke, I will NEVER come back here again.

I used to love eating here till one dark day I came here with my mom. We had just eaten our meal & decided on flan for dessert… bad idea! I dont know about you but I dont like a little green island of mold on my flan. Hella gross. My mom ran to the bathroom to throw up because she had already started eating hers. Ew. I havent come back since and I dont recommend coming here since they obviously just let food sit there forever. YUCK!

Pretty good authentic Mexican food, I love going there because it is cheap and good!

It’s pretty good here.
After a drunken night of karaōke at Bamboo 7,
this place hits that ‘White Castle’ spot.
They have so many dishes that it’s hard to choose.
I’m so use to burritos and tacos that they have these
deep traditional dishes with seafood, chiles rellenos, etc.
They have pictures of each dish on the wall that it makes
you want to eat more. But, with my yoga training, I can
stop myself from gorging the Chiles Rellenos. I got the
usual super burrito carne asada and boy it was super.
They are not stingy with the sour cream here. I know
plenty of mexican restaurants that are selfish with their
sour cream *coughLAVICTORIAcoughcough*. If you go
here at night, I highly suggest a workout the next day.
