Horrible !!! I was craving Japanese food and this place was the closest to me… TERRIBLE !!! first I had to wait for 10 minutes to get seated because the hostess/waiter was in the kitchen and there were only 2 other customers having lunch then it took another 15 minutes to place my order and another 31 minutes to get our food. The food was over priced and just mediocre… I will not return ever again. If I could I would have given 0 stars.

I’ll admit, I was so nervous about try this place just because of the ratings on Unilocal! But we went to market next door and were so famished that we decided to just«go for it». Let me tell you, oh I’m flag that I did. They have great service, good selection of fish and I have yet to encounter a waiting list here. The place has a nice design as well with all the bamboo and trees around. I have been there twice now and haven’t had any issues. My mother really enjoys their seafood udon here and I became a fan of the millionaire roll. I wish they had more«simple» rolls(no sauce, spicy, etc.) But I’m sure if I’ll ask, that can be done. Their price per roll(~$ 14.95) is higher compare to a few other places(~$ 11.95 similar size roll and fish type) that I enjoy going to. I’ll be coming here on occasions when I can’t be bothered to make a reservation or don’t feel like bearing the wait t other places. There is a funny smell when you first enter the place, but shortly after it doesn’t bother me anymore.

I don’t like seafood. At all. But my girlfriend and her family love it. This place is in a nice location and is very nicely set up. The staff is amazing, friendly and funny. Best time to go is Tuesdays and Wednesdays!

This place isn’t bad though I’m glad we looked passed the pungent fish smell when we first entered. The staff was nice and quick. The rolls are loosely rolled but fresh. The California roll had imitation crab and was good. I always judge sushi places on how well they can make a simple California roll and a simple cucumber roll. They pass though nothing too outstanding. If you’re in the area and want sushi, stop by.

Their sushi is so good. But unfortunately their service is terrible. I always come for takeout and arrive late on purpose because I usually end up waiting regardless. But their sushi quality keeps bringing me back

Will recommend my friends and neighbors DONOT come here. Waited an hour for the main meal to arrive… and then even then my food was cold and others in our party had to continue to wait. Needless to say, service was horrible and we will not be returning.

This is by far my favorite sushi place! We always sit up at the bar and the chefs are all so nice. I love the Mt. Hamilton roll and also enjoy their nigiri. My favorite is the yellow tail, but all of it is very fresh. We also get their oysters when ever they gave them. This is my go to sushi place!

This place is well worthy of a 1 star. In my first visit, the service was just slow. Waiting 30 minutes after we requested for a check was ok because the sushi was decent(especially where there are only few options). I did not think too much about it, but my last visit was just awful. After calling in my order 40 minutes ahead, I came in only to be ignored for another 20 minutes. The server avoided eye contact the entire time. When the woman finally came to see what I needed, she yelled at the server across the room which was unbelievably rude. She did not even remember what I ordered. The worst part was was when I reiterated my order she gave me a face like«yikes», but I didn’t understand why. I came home to find that my order was wrong. I guess they just get so much business that they don’t care for customers to return.

Well, this place has certainly improved in terms of service and prices so long as you’re choosy. You have to try the oysters — best I’ve had in a long time and reasonably priced. I know — I should focus on the sushi. Try the bento box — choose carefully and you won’t be disappointed. I had ginger chicken and spicy tuna roll. Spicy tuna roll always good here. 8 pieces so not miserly, and tastes excellent. I could have had more spice/ginger in the chicken, but it was still good. Not too pricey if you choose carefully. My wife had the salmon sashimi that turned out to be very good quality and not fishy at all(that’s one of our tests!). We’ll be back!

We’ve been here twice and both times the service was spotty. This is unfortunate because the location is great, and the food can be good. However, on that note there were a number of items on the menu that weren’t available. This is a regular occurance… at least it has been the case both timeswe were here. I think whoever owns/manages this place must not care too much about making the customer happy. Please hire more help and keep the menu up to date. I’m 199.9% positive we won’t be back.

This place is a hit or miss. Some days, depending on the staff, the service and food is excellent. Like the other reviews, their Mount Hamilton roll is delicious and on a good day, their Chirashi is done well/fresh but slices of fish are tiny. Unfortunately on most days, their service and wait time are horrible! I’m giving them 3 stars because I’ve had a couple of good experiences at this place. Although their prices are more expensive than other sushi places, and their portions are small, I’ve had good quality sushi in this place. I strongly suggest to the owner to make their portions bigger, and make sure to have enough wait staff to serve the customers. The high prices need to be justified. I’d still give them another chance, maybe drop by for dinner again and see if they’ve improved.

Love this place. The sushi is fresh and rolls are delicious. Very friendly service and local family run business. Usually we go for lunch on Fridays . Sadly I ignored the place for so long because of the misleading bad reviews in Unilocal.I will say this place is better than Cha Cha sushi and less expensive and less wait time ! Overall a great find in silver creek evergreen area for sushi

The food here is actually some of the tastiest I have ever had. I never knew that miso soup could taste better than the average you get at every restaurant, and this place has it. I have been here three times and have never been disappointed. I thought about giving four stars because service might take a bit but in every case I think its well worth it so I didn’t think the place deserved being dinged for that. I don’t understand how other reviewers are bothered by the fact that the owner«isn’t Japanese» by that logic anyone who opens a ethnic restaurant must be of that ethnicity which really is quite racist and shallow. Come in sit down, try the food, and relax. You will not regret it.

Some of the best sushi I have had. love the Mt Hamilton Roll and the Dragon Roll. Wonderfully fresh tasting. Friendly staff that make you feel at home. Has become a regular stop for my wife and I whenever the sushi bug bites.

Three stars because I love the sushi here. I’ve only dined in two times. The first time, the service was horrible. There’s not a lot of people working but then again… There was only 3 tables to wait on. I only dined in the second time because I was in no hurry. My parents dine in quite often and they tell me that the service is horrible. This one time my parents dined in and ordered a chirashi bowl for me to stop by and pick up. They ordered as I was leaving Fremont and would take me 45 minutes to get there. After 20 minutes, they reminded the young man who was just standing behind the bar that I was on the way and in a hurry. When I got there, he was just making it. WTF! Honestly, the sushi is really good. I just always order over the phone and pick it up to eat elsewhere. A lot of people seem to have the same idea. Also, sometimes I’ll only order if the old man is working behind the bar. He gets creative with his chirashi bowls and sashimis!

This is the first Unilocal review I’ve ever written without having tasted a restaurant’s food, so keep that in mind reader. I recently moved to the area and wanted to support my local eateries. My wife and I went there with a big appetite ready to try this place. We came in on a Saturday evening around 7 pm. About 3 other tables were seated and the rest of the place was empty(warning sign #1). We stood at the doorway waiting for the customary Japanese greeting, but… oh wait… none of them were Japanese!(warning sign #2)…The hostess/waitress met our gaze with a blank stare and proceeded to tend to whatever business she was tending to, a mix of wiping empty tables and walking around with a teapot(warning sign #3)…oblivious to the fact that perhaps we were waiting to be seated because we didnt want to be rude and seat ourselves out of turn. Well eventually we did just hop on the bar… waited another 5 minutes… sushi«chef» looked at us… no greeting no smile… another zombie-like stare… there were absolutely no business going on at this point… we then reached over to grab our menus… because that wouldve been the only way we could ever get fed… another 5 minutes and still no acknowledgement we existed. We then decided to get the hell out of there and left… This has been the worst service Ive received from a restaurant… and I LOVE divey chinese and mexican joints where service means nothing, so what does that tell you!!! I can never get my precious 10 minutes back of my life… but im totally doing you a huge favor and saving you from the time waste that would be visiting this«restaurant»…stay away and eat the sushi selection at Safeway… better service there!

Just tried this place with my boyfriend. I must say this is by far the worst sushi place ever and the service ??? What service??? You won’t get service here. No customer service and the nastiest place for sushi. Don’t know how they stay in business. Don’t even think about coming here. I even had a few tuna bones in my tuna roll. Now what does that tell you. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. WARNINGDONOTCOMEHERE!!! YOUWILLREGRETIT!!!

Met here for a business lunch and it took forever to get our food. The restaurant wasn’t even half full. Don’t come here unless you have time to spare. That being said the Mt Hamilton roll was pretty meh. The tempura shrimp was a bit soft/oily and the sauce lacked kick. The maguro nigiri was ok but not the best cut… the fresh salmon nigiri was good, however. Since it’s so out of the way, I doubt we will end up here again, which is ok with me. There is plenty of better sushi in the bay area.
